[Music] well congratulations because if you're watching this then that means that you have completed the required 320h hour eyelash extensions course now it's time for the good part the Texas state board practical and this test is administered by PSI so come along with me as I teach you how to pack to pass so congrat ulations you have passed your written exam and so let's get you ready for the state booy practical as you can see the supplies that are needed are very simple many of these you can literally get down at your local Dollar Tree or Dollar General Family Dollar but Dollar Tree is my favorite so at your school you should have received either a PSI packet or a PSI State packet very simple very easy let's let's get started so the state requires that you have a 30x30 bag this 30x30 bag is going to be the bag that is going to contain all of the items that you're going to need for that day let's get this open and inside your bag should look like this okay now many of you may opt for your normal Walmart bag or what have you but hey why spend the extra $5 when you can get it for $125 okay so this is going to be the bag that is going to contain everything that you need you have three simple steps to your exam your first step is going to be to pre- cleanse sanitize or disinfect your next step is going to be the eyelash extensions application the third is going to be the blood exposure incident so these are are going to be the bags that we're going to be packing and prepping for you to put for your stay bar examination as you can see simple snack bags quart size storage bags very simple and easy nothing too expensive which is why I have them laid out here for you now most of you when you enrolled in school you got a mannequin and most mannequins probably came with a plastic bag and most of you probably don't still have that bag and that's quite all right but you want to make sure that you get a z Z lock bag to put your mannequin in now be sure that when you go to stateboard that nothing is written on the mannequin no markings of any kind if you needed to write your name on the back of the mannequin that's perfectly fine but don't put any marks on the mannequin because they kind of consider this cheating next step your mannequin when you go to state board will have one eyelash strip on it the state asked to just do the one because at state board you're only going to apply six lashes so there's no need to have any additional lashes there so we're going to go ahead and just remove one of our lash strips and there's enough sticky on here to get you through your test easily apply it make sure it's secure by using the bottom of the tool and voila she's ready slide her into the bag and she's ready to go now it won't be necessary to mark this bag the purpose of you putting the mannequin inside of the bag is just to know that it is clean clean and we will sit her over here with our 30x30 bag now the next step is pre- cleanse or disinfected this is going to be its own separate bag okay and as you can see most of these bags have colors on it this is just kind of a way for you to be able to cheat without cheating we know that blue typically means ice right cleansing solution and if you've been in school you know that you have used your EPA which is your hospital grade disinfectant spray now that's going to go in this bag but of course we're going to get everything labeled along the way so in this pre- cleaned sanitized bag you're going to have your EPA your hand sanitizer tape for your trash bag that will go on the table which is what you're going to put everything in as you complete each step and then you're going to have paper towels one to cleanse the table and the chair at the beginning pre and another to clean the table and the chair at the again at the end post so we're going to set those together there and then I have the rubber bands because I will show you how to use those how to secure your paper towels so that you don't fumble during the first uh set of the exam now second will be your eyelash extensions application your mannequin already has on one strip your next step is going to be to drape her to put on an under eye protector you will have your lashes the tools of your choice your adhesive finger pods or glue pods you can even take your Jade stone but if you take your Jade stone You've Got to Now take tape you've also got to take your Nano Mister so that you can deactivate the adhesive so to keep it simple just take your finger pods so this is going to be part of bag two now the final step which is the blood exposure incident bag the blood exposure incident bag is going to be I like to use red because we know that blood is red you're going to have two double bags which is going to be your biohazard bag what this bag represents is something in it is harmful harmful pathogens blood body fluid all those types of things so the demonstration of your blood exposure incident all of the Band-Aids um the gauze the alcohol prep pads everything that you've cleaned your client's blood spill incident up with are going to go in this along with the head draping as well okay so you're going to build a first a kit you're going to have your blood exposure incident biohazard bags all that is going to go into this section and then remember you're going to end your exam with post disinfection so you will already have your hand sanitizer and your EPA on the table you'll have your second paper towel to be able to cleanse and disinfect and then of course your sanitizer to cleanse your hands at the end which everything's going to go into your trash bag okay so let's begin by getting all this labeled and putting it all together so that it all makes sense for you so let's get you pack to pass now you should have received as I stated before a packet from your school that tells you exactly the order in which to do the steps each step that you perform during your test is a point okay and so you want to practice these steps in the exact order so that you maximize on all the points that are available for you to pass now there are certain items that you must label okay and you need to have them labeled in English pre cleansed stage right so we have that here okay pre clean then our second step is our eyelash extension application and there's no need for you to fuss on how these labels are marked they just want to see that the items are marked eyelash extension application and then you've got your blood exposure incident okay that's how we're going to get started and so if you practice these in this order that means that you will remember the order that they are in as well okay blood exposure and also what I tell my students because depending on how early you begin to start practicing this step which it's never too early to do so because that way when it is time for you to grade out always take a piece of tape because you never know you might spill something on your bag or the labels the stickers May begin to wear off very simple very easy okay um we're going to get one more of these and we're going to use this as our first aid bag so these little snack bags are very very handy and the great thing about this is that you're prepping for stay boor but it is not costing you a whole lot so now we know what comes in a first a kit right and yes I am building these backwards okay but I'm building them backwards from simplest to most difficult first aid in our first aid bag you want to take two of everything I have my students take two of everything in the event while you are taking your exam you know you let your nerves set in and something falls to the floor guess what if it falls to the floor it is now by the state considered contaminated and so at that point then now you must take that item and put it in your trash okay now if you've taken them and you've separated them then you have an additional one in your bag so I'm G to take out two alcohol preps and again I got these right down the road at your local Dollar Tree two curat gauze pads and two Band-Aids and know it doesn't matter what size the Band-Aid just be sure that you have practiced it with your gloves so that when you get there you're not fumbling okay so what I do is I have them separate them okay and remember you're going to use everything that you take this is why it's important not to take any additional items okay open your bag put these on one side put this on the other side now you also need gloves right so you're going to take two sets of gloves as well and it doesn't matter what type of gloves just make sure that they fit Now ladies who love to wear long nails either don't wear your nails when you go to stateboard or make sure that you get you some pretty good gloves so that your fingernails don't prick through them while you're at the examination location okay start from the end and just roll those together okay put one set on one side because your gloves are going to be the first thing that you're going to put on during this part of the exam D okay and just roll them up nice and tight okay press the air out and you can if you'd like opt to put maybe an additional paper towel inside of this bag so that um you can lay these things on on the table uh when it's time uh for this step but it's not necessary so just don't overthink it I just try to make sure that you're not taking additional items that make you overthink you want to go into this exam blasting right through it right as you created it okay now here's the double bagging remember this is for the biohazard this is where everything that has been contaminated is going to go in and it is okay that these bags say handy WRA if it says zip lock or whoever it doesn't matter as long as there's no cheap materials uh written on here anything that is in relations to the exam what order these things go in the steps or anything like that other than that you'll be absolutely fine okay and you want to make sure that other bag is open because it's going to make it easy when you get to this step to just simply open and prep the bag okay I'm pressing just a little bit of the air out and then remember we're going to label this bag biohazard okay biohazard now if you'd like you can put a big red sticker on it it it doesn't matter I promise you it does not matter okay biohazard is going to go here and I know again some of you worry about how it looks you don't get any extra points for all that because remember while you are demonstrating this you're going to literally taking all these things and dropping them in your trash bag as you complete them okay and so remember this is The Biohazard section so all these items are going to go right off in this bag so this is our blood exposure incident our first day kit is in there and our double bag okay so that's the final step to your test and remember what red stands for red stands for the blood exposure contaminated items first a kit as well okay simple and easy um to remember so you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever so now your mannequin is here during the process of the eyelash extensions application you're going to put some under eye stickers on your mannequin your under eye protectors so you can open these up and remember when you take these items to state board they're going to be marked pre- sanitized so it's no need to have to have the wrapper okay because it's going to be in another sanitized container okay but remember I always say take them by twos so that if you drop one you got another one in your bag that you can run to okay and the reason that that is important is because at no point should you reach down pick something up throw it in a trash and then come back to work because what that means is that if you were working on a client you've literally contaminated the surface right and so this is a mock but it represents the fact that you just contaminated your whole work area with your client always remember if you go to throw anything in the trash that you come back and sanitize your hands and begin again wherever it was that you left off okay so this bag is going to be labeled pre- sanitized okay and pre- sanitized is what we're going to label this bag because these are all the other miscellaneous items that we are going to actually be using during the process okay we will also have another little Ziploc bag that says pre- sanitized implements that's the bag that your tools will be in okay pre- sanitized cover it with tape okay now we have two under eye protectors you'll have two finger pods you'll have your eyelash strips tip you do not have to take an entire case of eyelashes I always tell them keep an empty case from lashes that you've done previously and just remove one sticker and take it with you that way you don't have to worry about anything else so you'll put those Lashes in the bag for those that are asking you can take your Jade stone again if you'd like but remember if you take your Jade stone you got to take tape you got to bring your Nano Mis so that you can deactivate your adhesive and those are all extra steps that are not needed that are not necessary that you're not even going to get points for okay so keep it simple keep it easy they just really want to know if you can apply those lashes keep them on at the proper angle right you're going to do six of them they want to see you do the separation method afterwards okay and so get it right because if you're actually in the process that Raider can come over to you and take your tools and flick that lash to make sure that it's actually on okay so only stick to what you know you need to do okay so now your adhesive has to be labeled okay they know that this is the eyelash extensions uh application but it needs to say adhesive so you're going to Mark adhesive on that bottle covering up any additional marks that's on it and for those who think they may not take off points oh yeah they will okay and again take take a tap if it need be and it doesn't have to be a brand new bottle crazy crazy story since we're there I had a student go to state board and she forgot to open up her adhesive and now she's scrunching around and she's had to take her tools and prick the bottle open okay and what a mess that can cause so you do not want to do that at stateboard make sure that everything you've packed in this bag you've actually ran through as a mock and actually use so that you don't have any fumbles any issues the day of okay so now we're going to put the adhesive in the bag as well and these are your pre-s sanitize items that you're going to use during this part now this bag is going to be labeled pre- sanitized implements because it's the bag that you're going to actually put your tools in now yes you can carry two sets of tools okay prenter I ized implements and so that way you know the difference between the bag that actually has your tools versus those that have your um disposable items along along with your lashes some of you also will ask the question sometimes well do I need to take a a spoolie do I need to do a lash wash all that you're not going to do any of those things at stateboard you're going to stick strictly to what's on on the paper okay all right so we have our pre- sanitized implements we have our pre- sanitized tools and other items okay this is for our head drape and then we have some paper towels that we will actually sit our items on I like to have my students use three towels depending on the size of the towel that you actually take you definitely need to take a towel for draping be sure that you practice with that towel to make sure that the towel stretches and is able to be pushed completely inside of the mannequin your drape must remain intact during the entire practical experience so if you're fumbling with this because you chose the wrong towel at home and that Raider watched you and she saw that or he saw that they could literally come by and pick your mannequin up and do this and if that drape falls off you could lose points for that so let's not let that be your situation okay so make sure that the towel that you are taking is one that you have used that you have practiced and of course you don't have to label your towels and then the other towels will be just so that you can lay to the side as well as lay up under your mannequin so I have my students again take three towels one towel that goes on the flat surface which represents a sanitized table or bed work surface okay the mannequin then you'll have the second for your DRP and then the other one to lay all of your tools on so that you work in a clean space so these will go in the bag so your mannequin the bag that you're going to take everything in this bag is important because this is your start of the exam it's also the Finish so this is your pre cleanse as well as your post cleanse okay so you want to have your EPA and your hand sanitizer these two things have taken you all through school so you should already know how to use them you already know that you have to have them everywhere in your kit whether you're working at your location or off location okay blue bag represent clean okay now there's the rubber bands that we talked about paper towels trash bag here we go this is my pre- clean bag and you just want to make sure that everything fits it's okay if it's nice and tight in the bag okay we got our EPA going in and EPA is all that you need marked on the bottle they know exactly what it is what it means okay all right tape okay hand sanitizer and remember the items that we are labeling must be labeled you do not want to get points taken off for using something that's not labeled why is this important it's just like stateboard rules let's say I had water alcohol and acetone all sitting next to one another they all look alike right and so to protect myself as well as the public they need to know what's H2O right what's the hand sanitizer and what is the acetone so this is for your safety as as well as for the safety as those that are around you okay now your trash bag be sure that you fluff your trash bag before going okay so make sure that you open this trash bag okay excess it's accessible so that way you can press all the air out because you got to pack this bag inside of this small bag okay now I recommend you double label the bag because the bag is going to be Tak to the surface but guess what the Raider when they come around they want to be able to see the name on the bag okay even though this assimilation it's literal okay so we're going to put one here on the outside and we're also going to put one on the inside because remember you're going to tape this to the table and this way they don't miss it tape it down all right we press out all the air and this is why you it's best that you get to know your bag commercials said getting to know you okay let's get some more of that air out of there okay that's good trash bag's going to go in right your tape is going to go in don't forget that cuz you got to to tape it to the table surface and I always recommend how many items two cuz at the beginning of your exam you're going to spray down both the table and the chair before you sit down your first paper towel is going to be to be able to disinfect that table and that chair you will then put that paper towel into the trash bag right and you'll still have your second one so that's what the rubber bands are for and now you can opt to take wipes if you'd like disinfectant wipes you can absolutely do that too I just think that it's always best the less that you have on your table you know in the way uh causing you to you know fumble or think right extra is not even needed okay so I take it and I make sure that the name is seen okay EPA and that double band The First Time helps to ensure that when you pull that paper towel off doesn't knock the other paper towel onto the floor okay and so there's the one for your first step okay so we're going to slide that in the bag okay and so of course the bag is clear for this very reason so that the state can see that everything in your bag is properly labeled okay the last thing you want to do is to be is to get yourself eliminated fresh out the gate okay so here's our pre- cleanse bag and all the final thing we have to do is to label the outside of the bag now you can put eyelash extension application on there but it's no need because they know exactly what exam you are here for so just put pre-s sanitized on the bag okay and I'm going to have to go off in that bag and get our tape because I've already sealed it up in there that's another reason why I worked from okay and remember pretty much everything that you see in this bag came from our local Dollar Tree except for your mannequin of course the barberside solution which is what is our EPA disinfecting solution of of course our lash implements your eyelash extensions the adhesive the under eye stickers and our two uh finger rings other than that everything else in these bags came from down uh the street at the Dollar Tree so let's pack the bag [Applause] mannequin pretty Clans blood exposure eyelash extension application and now you are all set for your stateboard
