ผมน่ะ ไม่เคย because the longest time
I stayed at one job is like 10 years.
ถ้างานที่ผมทำนานที่สุดคือ 10 ปี But 11 years is a very long time
แต่ 11 ปี นี่นานมากนะ to do something,
ในการทำบางสิ่งบางอย่าง to stay at one place,
หรืออยู่ในจุดจุดเดิม to be with a person in a relationship,
คบกับคนเดิม or to be great at something you love.
หรือเก่งในสิ่งที่คุณรัก So, it's a long time,
นานมากครับ and not a lot of people can do that.
ไม่ใช่ทุกคนจะทำได้ But our guest today has done it,
แต่แขกรับเชิญของเราวันนี้ทำมาแล้ว and she's still very active,
ตอนนี้ก็ยังทำอยู่ very alive and kicking.

มันเคยทำให้วีรำคาญมาก but I don't really care anymore.
แต่ตอนนี้ไม่สนใจแล้วค่ะ Violette or Violet doesn't matter.

'violette' is 'violet' in English, right?

ชื่อมันสะกด it's written in French,

it's supposed to be 'violette.'

you were at THE STANDARD,
ครั้งสุดท้ายที่วีมา THE STANDARD like a long time ago,
นานมากแล้ว almost 6 years ago if I'm not mistaken,

"We Need To Talk."

ถ้าพี่จำถูกต้อง I think it was like your first time
being interviewed in full English for an hour.

Japan, Thailand, French and Canada.

you're supposed to be able to speak,
คือคลิปวีพยายามพูดภาษาที่ดูแล้วน่าจะพูดได้ which are like
Thai, English, French, and Japanese.
อย่างแบบไทย อังกฤษ ฝรั่งเศส ญี่ปุ่น [V] I don't speak Japanese.
วีไม่พูดญี่ปุ่นนะคะ [Bick] I know, but it was like
you were born in Japan, right?
ใช่ครับ แต่วีเกิดที่ญี่ปุ่นใช่มั้ยล่ะ And you gave a little example
like 'daijoubu' thing,
ตอนนั้นวีให้มาคำนึง ไดโจบุ (ไม่เป็นไร) so that also counts, I guess.
แค่นี้ก็นับนะ And also a little bit of Isan too,
พูดอีสานด้วย that's what you did on that clip,
อันนั้นคือคลิปสั้นอันนั้น and it went viral.
แล้วก็เป็นไวรัลเลย Like, 1.8 million views.
คนดูตั้ง 1.8 ล้านคน So, do you still use
a lot of languages in your everyday life?
ตอนนี้ยังได้ใช้ภาษาเหล่านี้ในชีวิตประจำวันอยู่มั้ยครับ [V] Well, I think
I still use a lot of Thai obviously,
ก็แน่ๆ ล่ะยังพูดไทยอยู่ but also French
because I speak with my father.
แล้วก็มีฝรั่งเศสที่วีพูดกับพ่อ And also English, but, I don't know…
ภาษาอังกฤษด้วยค่ะ แต่ไม่รู้สิ.. it's always there,
but it just comes in and out.
ก็พูดมาตลอด มันแค่มาๆ ไปๆ It comes and goes.
มาๆ ไปๆ [Bick] Because you don't need to use them, like…
เพราะไม่ได้ต้องใช้ตลอดเวลาด้วยเนอะ [V] Not all the time, no.
ค่ะ ไม่ได้พูดตลอดเวลา But, because I'm writing in English again,
แต่เพราะตอนนี้วีเขียนเพลงภาษาอังกฤษด้วย so it's coming back to me.
ก็เริ่มกลับมาแล้วค่ะ And because at the beginning of this year,
I was traveling to Japan,
ต้นปีนี้วีก็ไปเที่ยวญี่ปุ่นมาด้วย we were talking earlier,
ที่เราคุยกันก่อนหน้านี้ I was traveling to Japan,
and to communicate in Japan,
วีไปญี่ปุ่น แล้วการพูดคุยที่ญี่ปุ่นอะ it's better to speak Japanese, but I don't.
มันพูดญี่ปุ่นดีกว่า แต่วีพูดไม่ได้ So basically, I would speak like broken English
ก็เลยจะพูดอังกฤษแบบไม่สมประกอบแทน 'cause I feel like…
เพราะรู้สึกว่า [Bick] Intentionally?
แบบตั้งใจน่ะหรอครับ [V] Yeah, 'cause people understand better
than you try to speak correct English,
ค่ะ เพราะคนจะเข้าใจง่ายกว่าพูดแบบเป๊ะๆ so it's like word by word,
and people just understand that way.
ก็พูดเป็นคำคำไปเลย คนเข้าใจ So, I haven't been forcing myself
to speak proper English,
ก็เลยไม่เคยบังคับตัวเองให้พูดแบบถูกต้องสักที so, I don't know if that mindset is in me yet.
ยังไม่รู้ว่ามีความคิดจะพูดแบบนั้นรึยังน่ะค่ะ Today is like refreshing proper English back.
วันนี้เลยเป็นวันที่ปัดฝุ่นภาษาอังกฤษแบบถูกต้องของวีด้วย [Bick] Oh, good.
ดีจังครับ So, this is just counting it at the right time.
มาตรงจังหวะเวลาพอดีเลย [V] Yeah, and also,
this is like a practicing interview
ค่ะ แล้วก็อาจจะเป็นการฝึกให้สัมภาษณ์ for maybe, I don't know,
international interviews.
สำหรับแบบ ไม่รู้สิ สัมภาษณ์สื่อนอกของวี [Bick] A lot more to come, I'm sure,
จะมีหลายอย่างรอวีอยู่แน่เลย because your new album would
consist of all English songs.
เพราะว่าอัลบั้มใหม่นี่ก็เป็นเพลงภาษาอังกฤษหมดเลย [V] Yes, they are all in English.
ใช่แล้วค่ะ [Bick] How do you feel about that
besides being excited?
รู้สึกยังไงบ้างครับ นอกจากตื่นเต้นแล้ว [V] I don't know how I feel yet
ยังไม่รู้เลยว่าต้องรู้สึกยังไง 'cause right now I'm still
in the mindset of making the EP.
ตอนนี้ยังคิดแค่ว่าจะทำอีพี (extended play) ค่ะ It's not like a full album,
ยังไม่ถึงขั้นอัลบั้มเต็มๆ but it's like making it happen.
พยายามคลอดออกมาให้ได้ So right now, I'm focusing on the short term,
ดังนั้นตอนนี้ก็โฟกัสเป้าหมายระยะสั้นก่อน very short term,
just to make it finished by the deadline.

the most exciting part for now,

อาจจะเป็นคำว่าอาเมน [Bick] It doesn't give the same vibe, right?
ก็ไม่เหมือนกันอยู่ดีน่ะสิ ใช่มั้ย Like, 'สาธุ' would be,
"Um, okay, I get what you are trying to say."
สาธุมันแบบ อ่า เก็ทแล้วว่าจะสื่ออะไร We'll be talking more about your new album
and your new songs on the show later,
เดี๋ยวเรามาคุยกันต่อเรื่องอัลบั้มและเพลงใหม่ของวี but let's go back like 5 or 6 years before.
ขอย้อนกลับไปตอน 5 หรือ 6 ปีที่แล้วก่อนครับ So, the last time you were on our show,
our podcast called 'We Need To Talk,'
ครั้งที่แล้วที่วีมาออกรายการ We Need To Talk you were, of course, a singer, actress,
and still a DJ at Cat Radio. Remember?
ตอนนั้นวีเป็นนักร้อง นักแสดง และดีเจที่ Cat Radio
จำได้ไหม [V] Not anymore.
จำไม่ได้แล้ว Yeah, back then, yes.
อ้อ ใช่ค่ะ ตอนนั้นใช่ [Bick] So, obviously,
in 5 or 6 years, a lot has changed.
แน่นอนล่ะว่าเวลา 5 หรือ 6 ปีนี่อะไรๆ ก็เปลี่ยนไปมาก So, what has changed
and what has still stayed the same?
อะไรเปลี่ยนไปบ้างครับ และอะไรยังเหมือนเดิม [V] A lot has changed,
หลายอย่างเปลี่ยนไปค่ะ I think first of all is my age.
อย่างแรกเลย อายุ That's like, okay.
แบบ โอเค [Bick] Yeah, everybody's aging.
ก็ใช่ ทุกคนต้องอายุมากขึ้น [V] And also, I think as a person,
I've changed a lot too.
แล้วก็คิดว่าในฐานะคนคนนึง วีเปลี่ยนไปมาก And as an artist, I've also changed a lot.
ในฐานะศิลปินนี่เปลี่ยนไปเยอะมาก I feel like I'm a little bit
more open to everything now.
ตอนนี้รู้สึกว่าเราเปิดรับอะไรได้มากกว่าเดิม [Bick] As opposed to before?
มากกว่าเมื่อก่อนหรอครับ [V] Yeah, comparing to before,
ค่ะ ถ้าเทียบกับเมื่อก่อน even though I don't DJ anymore or like that.
ถึงแม้ตอนนี้จะไม่ได้เป็นดีเจแล้วก็ตาม But because I always put myself in a box
แต่เพราะวีชอบอยู่แต่ในกรอบ where I label it as like,
"Okay, I want to be this kind of type of person."
ที่เราแปะป้ายไว้ว่า ฉันอยากเป็นคนแบบนี้ "I don't do this."
ฉันไม่ทำแบบนี้หรอก "I don't do that."
ไม่ทำแบบนั้นด้วย "I would do just this,
and this is the genre of music I'm gonna do."
จะทำแค่นี้ และก็ทำเพลงแค่แนวนี้ And, you know,
it just very limits yourself in that one box.
มันเป็นการขังตัวเองไว้ในกรอบเดียวมากๆ ค่ะ And now I'm just more open,

อันนี้มาร่างฝรั่งเศสแล้วค่ะ Dark and…
มืดมนและ.. [Bick] What was it again? I was curious.
คำว่าอะไรนะครับ อยากรู้ [V] Sombre.
สลัวค่ะ [Bick] Sombre, like gloomy?
สลัวแบบมืดมนน่ะหรอ [V] Oh yeah, dark and gloomy.
ใช่ค่ะ มืดมน But 'Your Girl' is way more fun and open.
แต่พอมา Your Girl ก็จะสนุกและเปิดกว้างมากขึ้น And that's the part of me
where I really embrace every side of me,
นี่แแหละตัววี ที่วีก็ยอมรับทุกด้านของตัวเอง like really learn
how to love myself as who I am.
เรียนรู้ที่จะรักตัววีที่เป็นวีเอง [Bick] Ooh, that's nice.
ดีครับดี [V] So, that's what's changed during those times.
ก็เป็นสิ่งที่เปลี่ยนไปตลอดเวลาที่ผ่านมาค่ะ And right now, I'm at the age
where I'm like, "Okay, anything is fun."
ตอนนี้มาถึงอายุที่เราแบบ อะไรก็สนุกได้แล้ว [Bick] That's good.
ดีนะ And what do you feel like,
even though 6 years have passed,
แล้วอะไรที่คุณรู้สึกว่าแม้เวลาจะล่วงเลยมา 6 ปี "I'm still this way, and I don't see
that changing anytime soon"?
ฉันก็ยังเป็นของฉันแบบนี้
และยังไม่คิดจะเปลี่ยนเร็วๆ นี้ด้วย [V] The core of me, I guess.
ตัวตนของวีจริงๆ มั้งคะ I don't know what it is,
ไม่รู้ว่าคืออะไร but people who met me
since before I got into show business,
แค่คนที่เคยเจอวีก่อนเข้าวงการบันเทิง they would still be like,
"You're still the same person as 10 years ago."

ใช่เลยค่ะ And I think it's just the core of who I am,

จังหวะของ… ไม่รู้อ่ะ How do I say like 'จังหวะของคนน่ะ'?
ต้องพูดยังไงนะ จังหวะของคนน่ะ People would have this kind of pace, right?
คนเรามีจังหวะชีวิตใช่มั้ยคะ But me, I would always overlap a little bit,
แต่ของวีจะมีความเหลื่อมกันเล็กน้อย a little too much,
อาจจะมากเกิน a little bit not enough.
หรือน้อยเกินไป ขาดๆ เกินๆ นิดนึง [Bick] ขาดๆ เกินๆ And that could be a good thing,
อาจจะเป็นเรื่องดีก็ได้นะ it's not necessarily unhealthy.

ไม่เลยค่ะ It just makes me really unique

โอ้โห ดีจัง เหลื่อม นี่ต้องขึ้นศัพท์แล้วว่ามันคืออะไร But one thing for sure that happened to you,
แต่อย่างนึงที่เกิดขึ้นกับวีแน่ๆ and I would like
to use the word 'long-awaited'
พี่อยากใช้คำว่า รอมาเนิ่นนาน because it took you 10 years
to have your first-ever solo concert,
เพราะใช้เวลาตั้ง 10 ปี กว่าวีจะมีคอนเสิร์ตเดี่ยวของตัวเองครั้งแรก and it happened last year, right?
จัดปีที่แล้วใช่มั้ย So, do you feel like
you were waiting too long for this to happen,
รู้สึกไหมครับว่ารอมานานเกินไป or was it just the right amount
of waiting time for you,
หรือคิดว่าก็เป็นเวลาที่เหมาะสมแล้ว and this couldn't be a more perfect time?
เป็นเวลาที่เหมาะเจาะสุดๆ [V] I think it's a little bit of both.
คิดว่าทั้งคู่นะคะ I think it's the perfect time,
ก็เป็นเวลาที่พอดีด้วย but also, it was a little too long to wait.
แล้วก็รอมานานมากเกินไปเหมือนกัน I don't know, maybe
it's because I'm a little impatient.
ไม่รู้สิอาจจะเพราะวีใจร้อนนิดนึง And it was supposed to happen in 2020, I think,
for the album 'Glitter and Smoke,'
มันควรจะเกิดตั้งแต่ 2020 แล้วค่ะ ของอัลบั้ม
Glitter and Smoke but because of COVID,
and I couldn't wait any longer.
แต่ไปเจอโควิด แล้ววีก็ไม่อยากรออีกต่อไปแล้ว So, I had to make a new album already
เลยทำอัลบั้มใหม่เลย 'cause I felt like if I had to wait,
เพราะรู้สึกว่าถ้าต้องรออีก I don't know when it's going to happen ever.
ก็ไม่รู้เมื่อไหร่จะได้จัดคอนเสิร์ตสักที So, I didn't have my first full concert
as the 'Glitter and Smoke' concert,
สรุปว่าคอนเสิร์ตแรกก็ไม่ใช่ของอัลบั้มนั้น but then for the second album, I got to have it.
แต่อัลบั้มที่สอง ก็ได้จัดค่ะ It's been a long time,
รอนานเหมือนกัน

but it still feels like
the perfect timing as well,

at the time you wanted it to happen, right?
มันก็เข้าใจได้เนอะที่ทำไมตอนที่อยากจัดมันยังจัดไม่ได้ [V] Yeah, and also I feel like
if my first concert were to be 'Glitter and Smoke,'
ใช่ค่ะ แล้วคิดว่าถ้าเป็นคอนเสิร์ต Glitter and Smoke จริง I feel like it would be a lot smaller
คอนเสิร์ตต้องเล็กกว่านั้นแน่ 'cause it's an English album
เพราะเป็นอัลบั้มสากลด้วย and it's very niche in the Thai market.
ตลาดในไทยมันไม่กว้างมากค่ะ So, for it to be 'Your Girl,' which is a Thai album,
พอมาเป็นอัลบั้ม Your Girl ซึ่งเป็นเพลงไทย it just makes sense
for us to have a big solo concert.
ก็เลยจัดคอนเสิร์ตเดี่ยวแบบใหญ่ๆ ได้ [Bick] So, 'YOU BETTER LOVE ME'
turned out to be pretty huge, right?
คอนเสิร์ต YOU BETTER LOVE ME ใหญ่มากเลย And it was a full house.
คนมาเต็มด้วย I heard that you were concerned about,
พี่ได้ยินมาว่าวีเป็นกังวลเรื่องว่า "Oh God, can I fill all those seats?"
จะมีคนมาซื้อบัตรกันมั้ย [V] Yeah, I was so afraid.
ใช่ค่ะ วีกลัวมากเลย 'Cause like, I don't know,
เพราะแบบ ไม่รู้สิคะ during COVID,
you don't get to meet a lot of fans.
สมัยโควิด เราไม่ได้เจอแฟนคลับเยอะมาก And because that album was
me coping with COVID,
อัลบั้มนั้นมีอัลบั้มที่วีรับมือกับโควิด that's why I was so happy and upbeat,
มันเลยดูมีความสุขแล้วก็ร่าเริงมาก because everything was so depressing,
and I just didn't want to be depressed.
เพราะทุกอย่างมันน่าหดหู่ไปหมด
วีก็ไม่อยากหดหู่ไปด้วย [Bick] อัดอั้นเนอะ [V] ใช่ So, I was trying to make something fun,
เลยอยากทำอะไรสนุกๆ ค่ะ and that was 'Your Girl.'
เลยออกมาเป็น Your Girl And also, I was going through a phase of my life,
แล้ววีกำลังอยู่ในช่วงอะไรสักอย่างของชีวิตด้วย I don't know what it is, but yeah.
ไม่รู้ว่าคืออะไร แต่นั่นแหละค่ะ And because during those times,
I hadn't seen my fans in a big while.
เพราะว่าตอนนั้นไม่ได้เจอแฟนๆ นานมากเลย Even though it's coming back to life,
ถึงทุกอย่างจะเริ่มกลับมาแล้ว like everything's opening up again,
ร้านรวงเปิดแล้ว you just don't know who your fans are.

เรื่องก็คือ I've been here for 10 years in show business,
วีอยู่วงการบันเทิงมาสิบปีแล้ว and I haven't ever won
an award for being an artist.
ยังไม่เคยได้รางวัลที่เกี่ยวกับนักร้องเลยค่ะ I mean, I've won an award
for being an actress,
เคยชนะรางวัลในฐานะนักแสดง but not really for being an artist.
แต่ไม่ใช่นักร้อง And it's just your dream to be like,

that would be so cool."

successful than my music back then.

"Oh man, I didn't get it,"

เรายินดีกับคนชนะนะ but you wish it were you as well.
แต่ใจนึงก็หวังให้เป็นตัวเองเหมือนกัน I needed that award so badly
just to prove that I was enough.
วีอยากได้รางวัลนั้นมาก อยากพิสูจน์ว่าฉันก็ดีพอ And on the day of the concert,
I knew, I was like, "Okay, this is the award."

all those people show up to my show.

consider making the whole album in English,

I just want to make English music.

really love all my bad sides and good sides."

we cannot change everything.

I don't have to wait for the script really,

the music video and act in it as well.

you can direct everything
แล้วเรากำกับเองอะไรเองได้ด้วย and be in charge of the whole thing.
คุมเองได้เลย [V] I just started writing two scripts
for the music videos for the previous album.
วีเพิ่งเริ่มเขียนบทสองบทสำหรับเอ็มวีของอัลบั้มก่อนหน้า I was in the process of coming up with
the story for 'Be Honest' and 'TOXIC.'
กำลังอยู่ในช่วงแต่งเรื่องให้เพลง Be Honest กับ TOXIC That was really fun,
สนุกมากค่ะ and very different ways of
making a music video.

very story-driven and very cinematic,

a very conceptual music video,
อีกอันออกแนวต้องตีความแนวคิด so it's really fun to work both ways.

you feel like is still a limitation

that you have to be careful about?
หรืออะไรที่ต้องระมัดระวังมั้ยครับ Like, you cannot be
too free to do whatever for real,
ที่วีทำตามอำเภอใจไม่ได้ขนาดนั้น but you still have to watch all these factors.
ยังต้องคำนึงถึงประเด็นต่างๆ เหล่านี้ด้วย [V] Just be a good human, that's it.
แค่เป็นคนดีก็พอแล้วค่ะ But the rest, I think,
like for making music,

to experiment on it a little bit.

to have all these people around me
แต่วีโชคดีที่มีคนรอบตัว who really believe in me
ที่เชื่อในตัววี and push me to go a little further than I am.

of course, with 11 years in this business,

อยากเป็นแบบพี่วีบ้าง So, if I ask you, which part of yourself
do you want people to like, "Okay, do this"?
งั้นพี่ขอถามว่า มีส่วนไหนในความเป็นเรา
ที่อยากให้คนอื่นทำบ้างครับ I would say...
คงเป็น I hope that I inspire them to follow their dreams,
หวังว่าวีจะให้แรงบันดาลใจในการตามฝันของตัวเองค่ะ 'cause I really do follow
this dream of being an artist,
เพราะวีทำตามฝันของตัวเองจริงๆ ในการเป็นนักร้อง and I still haven't stopped.
ถึงตอนนี้ก็ยังตามฝันนั้นอยู่ And if you ask me what hasn't changed,
it's my passion for music.
