yes that's what it is danish words and it's number nine let's just get right to it and first behind what's the first one we have today h at to thank to thank someone did you remember to thank him now sometimes you might hear and to say thank you that's just as common this is just another [Music] way yelpen and we are thanking for the help maybe that sounds strange in English but that's what we say nest is kind of the opposite what is this to complain sai is reflexive he is almost always complaining right [Music] the bus seemed to be complaining about something so this vist I've talked about this before is kind of like it seemed and the impression I got or judging from what we know it seems to be the case something unknown we're not sure what it is but it's something okay okay to yell or shout you can practice the R basically doesn't it hurt your vocal cords to yell for to have pain or it hurts stem vocal cording the the voice bond or tape kind of funny word actually like from yelling at moly is that she yelled shouted because she was impatient that's what she was oh what a sounding to scream or I guess to shriek in in some cases i tried not to scream i tried resisting resist refrain like not [Music] do i tried not to my brother got a huge shock and screamed you can imagine that right it can be shock so he got a huge shock and screamed poor shock o sky super nest at skinnis at skinnis what is this to fight argue like like you're quarreling like at skinnis at skinnis it's like there's no reason to fight or argue You is there we fought over some things that were not important at all the past and yes this is one of those verb uh verbs that always end in s it's a bit strange considering most end in R in the present tense but um yeah there are exceptions and skinnis belongs to this category skinnis at skinnis super it means to cry i almost forgot to tell you to cry okay okay it's totally okay to cry like totally fine healed okay at I can see that you've cried or that you've been crying you can you know the song i can say and do super also kind of sad at s to miss like you are emotionally yearning for someone or something at sa all right so you could say familiar mean familiar i really miss my family [Music] it's like she missed me too or she's been missing me she's missed me it's a present [Music] perfect super to this is a little bit different and I think many learners they have problems with this because they mix up s and manga but the difference is that s is emotional by a person or maybe you're being nostalgic for another time of your life but manga is when you're lacking it for more practical purposes like so like let's say you're fixing something and you need some screws or some flower or like whatever depending on the category mangla that is what the difference is between s and manga it's pretty important so you could say "What is it we're missing?" Like lacking what is it we don't have like something in the house or whatever could also be something in your life there's a presence of something you don't have but you should have manga maybe you're empty or something okay uh is like we we weren't missing anything we weren't lacking anything like you had everything you needed at that time super this one whoops at mister at mister so admiss is to lose as in to lose uh possession of something you don't have it anymore okay so you could say the mold or mole you must not you mustn't you must not lose hope oh sorry sorry sorry mole is not hope it's a courage like Mr m but to Danish people it's kind of set in a context where it's not about being brave necessarily it's just about believing that things can work out which is the foundation for both bravery or courage or hope so yeah mold you see we have many adjectives with mold in like soldi so it has something to do with emotions and spirits yeah moly you can look into that if you really want to geek out and look like uh into these things and have have a deeper understanding you can do that okay cool mr so that is she has lost faith or trust in the system or confidence faith trust confidence very good thing that's the present perfect very nice okay then this is what we got at f is to leave we must leave this place now admittedly this sentence is a little bit melodramatic but you might hear it if you are leaving a place and you really have to use the Danish word for leave this is the one f could be said maybe someone who um who fled from a country and like 80 or 85 years ago they had to run away far away we say a guy left it yeah so could also be This is interesting this is have you already left him so this is very common to hear when we're talking about breakups or something like that right any kind of relationship ending well romantic relationships not friendships how [Music] do this f means leave but so does so I got to talk about that too and I might go back to fa just to make the point even clearer so if is also to leave but more like to leave behind it's different right very dramatic i am leaving you okay that sucks but that's the grammar right but I can't say well I can but that's not like leaving like ending the relationship that's just like leaving them behind in that place and you will see that uh I'm missing something here so remember not to leave behind your back in the train is what it is because it's uh leaving behind something you're not leaving a place like goodbye in that sense like and you could say you're leaving the train but the focus is not really on the train like you're you're leaving it it's more the thing you're leaving behind inside the train so like it's the thing you leave behind super and uh as in familiar hen blue in familiar so this is he was left by his family a little bit different that's how you would say it's like they went somewhere imagine home alone the first one everybody's busy they're leaving they're flying and then Kevin or whatever his name is he's home alone like because he was left behind think of it like is like after so it's like an echo or some strobe strobe lights like something that comes after kind of like an afterthought yeah okay so we is a very good very useful word means to look for you are looking for something aren't you motorcycle [Music] lead n so I was looking for or I looked for that uh treasure chest like a pirate thing for more than 10 years okay so to look for again with an ether because if you just say it could also be lead like yeah that's why you got to know Danish adverbs and uh conjunctions it's pretty important prepositions okay maybe you know it at is to seek or to search you might wonder what is the difference between and well they definitely overlap sometimes there is no denying there but is a little more abstract it's kind of like the thing that you're looking for not so much physically like like if you're looking through all your things you're trying to find your missing key or whatever you wouldn't really say that would be strange you would say but is like the first example so he's a farmer uh who is seeking or searching for whatever love right because he has his antennas out so to speak he's sort of receptive to that he's looking for that in his life he's not looking for the love as a physical object like oh is under my chair or whatever right so no that is su I don't know if it makes sense to you yet but it will you were seeking something that didn't exist now that might sound kind of supernatural and strange could be something supernatural like I don't know some ghost life or past life or supernatural occurrence like you're trying to find it you could you could also say that's actually a story I wrote a few years ago to seek answers so it's a more abstract general sense and also we say when it's like searching online Google or whatever and then people might say I searched on it if you will yeah okay enough at the outcome here to find i'll find it for you like something's missing and he'll find it it's like a favor pretty easy like it's up there so is of course the present perfect it's irregular it's an irregular verb and that's annoying but what you gonna do at to find okay so I have it in here at le to notice right so some It's not something that people notice maybe your friend is kind of like "Oh no everybody's going to notice this i mispronounced the word i whatever looked funny." So and you know you can say this diagnose some le so le is to like lay i don't want to get deep deep into this now but I can briefly say that le is to lay and mar is to like sense or feel so it's like to take note of and to notice you sense is you know sensing something external so you right to notice it's all connected school did you notice his new shoes that's pretty basic sentence new school yeah so this is just the the past tense right it's irregular new school nice okay moving on what is that at up means to discover maybe in some cases you can also translate it to uncover at maybe we will discover something new if we open the door yeah could say that pretty straightforward he deny so that woman discovered the castle secret or the secret of the castle yeah it's a very easy verb i don't really need to explain anything ma to react maybe you know it it's very normal to react like that or that way and I guess I can tell you that some people have problems with this because they want to say like react but uh what you want to remember is that when it ends with e like the verb you want to put the stress on the e right in motive we have a lot of you know that like that category there's so many verbs remember that okay and that is she didn't react like I had expected or like I was expecting but for vendel had expected That's pretty easy at handler at hand what do you think of course it means to act but this is important it means to act as in take action not to act like pretend okay very very important uh little thing you got to keep in mind at handler and uh at handler also means to like do grocery shopping like um but it depends on the context right here I'm talking about action like taking action okay at It's time to act very straightforward exclamation point right it's like urgent easy yeah so that is he hesitates you act it sounds better in Danish handler but anyway so there's a little bonus to to hesitate i don't hesitate anyway h to do handler very nice at four at four now what is this do you know at four tiger well for tiger means to prefer right for so you could say [Music] um do you prefer the blue or the red car very simple stuff yeah simple [Music] enough i guess I really like red when I was young I definitely preferred red meat like so he cigot is like for sure surely definitely he cigot he sigot good one remember this right yeah so in this one we only have red meat we don't have like white meat or what you want to call it but if you have this in a context it makes perfect sense like okay whatever like fish or chicken like beef or whatever Very nice here uh what is this you know what let's move it down here it looks better yosh all right adelia adve means to choose or to pick hiaitute she chooses to think positive positively it's like an adverb i choose you and you throw your Pokeball and then you say la i pick you i choose you so I it's actually kind of long sentence but essentially I chose to stay like to keep living in my old apartment now the focus point here is of course yave and uh that's the past tense so it's irregular what you going to do the G is not really pronounced like for me as a native speaker saying that feels very natural like so it's like an election we have down here is an election or choice there you can kind of hear the G but with this you don't really hear the G a quick little note a ble is to stay or remain bon it's kind like to be staying living and a ble reborn right you mean so he cho he chose to like live in his old apartment like to stay there he didn't move out whatever the context might be right very nice let's give it easy here what we got now what isma is to decide or to be in charge let's get into it so who's deciding or who's in charge so this is very common and to use when we're talking about who's like making the decisions who has the power so to speak and who's the boss who's in charge i'm in charge right the next one is we can decide for ourselves what we want to do we may if we have permission we can decide on our own or for ourselves what we want to do vo so it's uh deciding has some emphasis on like who has the authority or the autonomy all right to make that decision and that is important because the next verb is also decide but with another emphasis so let's see yeah sometimes when when we say it like in a conversation might like it's not like it's kind of long can't you decide like can't you make up your mind if someone is indecisive or I've decided to get divorced and so he or she took a decision it's different from Yeah I mean you might hear it but has more emphasis on like the decision itself and like what is the content of the of the um decision so stem is a little bit different because that's more like who's doing it who has the power the authority who made it yeah now sometimes of course they overlap as they often do if they mean the same thing in English but um but this one is uh yeah that's the general rule and when you get to a higher level you can focus on why is it with Sai or without Sai and why is there a F and so on but I would say that's a little more advanced okay suba can see okay let's take two more yeah let's do two more today sahavi sahavi ed what is this i have a feeling that most of you don't know this word and that's of course okay but can try to guess is sort of determine right like is it one thing or another the determining factor It is he or he's the one sort of determining deciding if we win or lose but not deciding so much like a decision but just like what he does will make the whole difference like so it could be like a sports game and you know he's your best player and and you really hope he's going to get some points for the team cuz otherwise you'll lose right determine factor you could say um now this one is a little more tricky but it's basically the result was determined by a random occurrence or coincidence can't say much more about it but of Of course blue is was determined right so this is the passive blueot is the uh the object it works as an object anyway okay cool sahavi yeah the last one today at stemo at stema po to vote for vote on right in elections at then well who are you voting for this year this s is like then like you have a conversation so okay we talked about all these ideas and your opinions so who are you voting for yo and it's important you say steo and don't say stem that's that's a different thing you say stem if it's like like preposition or or sorry um a suggestion a proposition and um yeah then you but that's a different context in political elections it's I don't think that my father my dad whatever uh has voted yet like ha stemmed has voted it's kind of nice and easy to remember because stema is vote and stemma is also voice so you know just like you say you have a voice in the democratic process it leans on that at stemer stemer stemer and actually this word has some other meanings but I don't want to talk about that right now so yeah that was basically everything for today i have of course more verbs down here but uh I think we're going to limit it a bit there will be another verb video at some point this at some point this was number nine so yes there is eight videos before this and you can go and check them i think it's good to brush up you might be a total beginner you might be someone who's been studying for a few months a year maybe you're kind of intermediate like whatever your level is it's always good to kind of brush up on your verbs Danish vocabulary in general so yeah it's a lot of stuff it's a lot of stuff to to watch of course it's also good if you have a little breakdown right let me just move this over here so you can see it uh yeah that's nice and cool so sometimes you know you're like yo I I want to go deeper i want to like see it i want to see it in writing it's a little breakdown so that's what we got here and here you have all the verbs that I talked about today kind of broken down the grammar and the meaning and of course also the translation and then you can have that if you're on the website if you're a gold or diamond member on danishmastery.com and you bought lifetime access to the videos and because it is lifetime access you pay once and then you have the videos forever that also means future videos so yeah one of the bonuses um you will find this like these little files with some notes from the videos there's a lot of stuff in here it could be like a nice little little extra to the videos so yeah a lot of stuff in here and there's in general a lot of stuff on danish mastery uh.com so you can check it out you know if you finally feel that it's time to to get a little more serious and like you want to you want to take your Danish to uh to the next level like let me just see here yeah how does it look on the screen sometimes I have to move it around because yeah they look different these pages right so like there's a lot of things in here and and the different levels and so no matter what your level is there is something for you there is uh I don't want to play this right now and there's uh something you can learn yeah a lot of stuff a lot of videos and a lot of bonuses and grammar breakdowns and some podcast episodes and the phrase book and some yeah comic strips just just a whole lot of stuff here on uh on danishmastery.com so that's awesome now let's see if anything is going on i see that there is uh there is one message in the in the live chat and it's sitting saying say document and emp okay so emphasize on the document yeah or say um pretty cool pretty sweet and something to think about i guess I have said that sometimes before but you know we all have our things right we all have little habits and routines and mannerisms yeah well it seems that's all in the live chat for today and that's fine so um so yeah thank you guys thank you for watching and I'll see you soon peace
