they were doing at that time was very Advanced so some examples are like ancient Indians we' saw pictures of ancient Indians before right those were the people who was in America before the pilgrims came over then we heard the story of Christopher Columbus and American Pilgrim right the story of the first Thanksgiving right they had their own civilization then we have ancient Egyptians and I civilizations I'm going to start off and then I'm going to popor to somebody so make sure that you are tracking with your finger tracking with your pencil that you a whereare where I'm reading because when I popcorn to you I'm not going to accept that you don't know where we at or that you're not going to read so everybody be prepared cuz I'm want to call on everybody all right yes yes okay so let's look at the focus in the box that says focus it says the physical geography of ancient Greece played a big role in how it developed now we just went over the word physical geography right yes can anybody tell me what it means real quick physical geography can anybody tell me what it means real quick say Sean oh real quick physical geography Julius phal geal geography isal featur of certain place physical features of a certain place thank you remember we use the classroom as examples right you use the floor we use the walls we also talked about Hills trees mountains lakes right physical features right all right so let's keep in mind as we're reading the physical features okay the physical geography of any place is an important key in understanding how and why the civilization develop the way it [Music] did ancient Greek civilization is a good example of this idea I poporn ancient Greek was located along the co Co of Y of water I'm sorry one second somebody's tapping or rocking or something and it's distracting a iian because of excellent EXC so we learned something very important in that one paragraph about the location we learned something about the location can somebody go back in that paragraph real quick real quick read to yourself in that paragraph underline what's important about the location underline what's important about the location let's go back in that paragraph really quick and underline what's important about the location we just saw in that paragraph something about some physical features about that location take two more seconds then you can raise your hand two more seconds then you can raise your hand two more seconds come just leave your stuff on the D two more seconds huh and I should see all hands cuz it's right there for us I should see all hands I should see more than that I should see more than that Terra what the song features what's what's what's what's special about that location so it's located near what say it so it's located near large bodies of water somebody said it's a peninsula three large bodies so is it surrounded by three large bodies of water if it is then it's possibly a peninsula but along the along the coast right so that's very important that's very important so keep that in mind new reader J theor of GRE is made up of a lot of mountain in ancient times this people I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry somebody again is being rude Justin you know how I feel about that you don't want nobody talking while you're read right right right all right be respectful and make sure we tracking Justus start for me please the interior of grece is made up of of a lot mountain in ancient times this kept population of people isolated from one from one another this isolation help communities develop independently for from one one another these areas had their own governments and their own ideas about how things should be done eventually these independent city states a city state was Aion in ancient grece with own citizen Cien all right stop right there I need you to skin that paragraph again I need you to pick out I'm talking so down I need you to pick out information about the physical environment we learn something else about the physical environment of re so we learned one thing about the coast in the first paragraph we learned something new here in this paragraph please underline that information once that information is underlined then you can raise your hand I give everybody a couple more seconds I should definitely see more than City so good job finding that definition so I hope everybody cired that because that is a definition and we know that because it's a little what it's bold right so different from everything else however we're looking for physical features so there something they mention in there about a physical featur Z did you have no City I'm sorry somebody called out oh you want to raise your hand thank you go ahead what was you got a little assist cuz you got happy I'm not mad at you iing hand right mountain right so the interior GRE is made up of of mountain right let's make sure we have that underline all right so in an effort to save some time I want to run through the rest of this I need you to pay attention and track as I read it and then we're going to go on to the first couple of questions for this section but everybody has a general idea as we're reading please make sure you're underlining anything that has to do with physical features make sure you're C anything that has to do with the definitions of the words that we listed all right and those words are also on the side of the vocabulary section okay everybody got that yes all right Creek and M Creek and M I want to read through it just make sure you're tracking ancient gree consisted of many Islands located out of the Mediterranean Sea ancient Greece consisted of many Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea ancient Greece consist of many islands you see them repeting it for a reason right located out in the Mediterranean Sea one of these islands was called Creek in about 2500 BC the Menan civilization existed there the civilization gets his name from King Minos the monans were great trainers they were also skill pots and painted beautiful frescos on the walls of their palaces they were skilled pots and painted beautiful Fresco on the walls of their pales a fresco is a painting on a plaster wall in about 2 BC the monoa civilization began to decline no one is really sure why this happened Scholars do not Scholars do know however that some of no migrated to migrated to and settled on the mainland of Greece after a time these settlements grew into powerful city states one of these Greek city states was called M it's located in an area on the Greek mainland called the P the ponis the ponis the M people were warriors and they built a city which was fortified by huge Stone stone walls they built the city which was fortified by huge stone walls they built the city which was fortified by huge stone walls the huge Stone lions that guard the entrance to the m Citadel a kind of Palace still stand to this very day all right what I would like you to do is we're going to go to our packet that has our questions everybody knows the package and make sure that we on the same page please turn to the page that says unit 5 ancient Greece know the bottom it says 118 which is the back of the front cover now after everything we just read we should be kind of able to answer these questions together before I let you go ahead and do it on your own however after you go do it on your own we need to make sure that we're definitely following Mr 's steps to text success so after we do these together I want you to preview the rest of the questions on your own I will pass out highlighters so you can highlight information within the text and do the rest of the questions independently so let's go to the first one which three bodies award is located along that was a very first thing we picked so if you got to go back to your packet if you need to look at where you underline go ahead and do that but I see a lot of hands up so people kind of remember and I am going to [Music] pick C Quan at C the agency ionian sea and a Mediterranean SE do we agree yes let me double check I don't know [Music] the first first second second second read it for ancient Greece was located along the coast of three large bodies of B the ageny the mediteran Mediterranean Mediterranean Mediterranean Mediterranean Sea and the lonan Sea so he was right yes and he was able to prove that by going back in the text right yes and we had it underl so we know that we're right we're confident right yes all right good job let's go to the next one number two what is
