Lessons from Prophet Musa's Life

every great man you've heard of could not have been a great man if it was not for the woman who nurtured him for her almanch [Music] fore Allah [Music] [Music] forum fore foreign [Music] foreign [Music] for inch [Music] [Music] in Allah [Music] [Music] fore foreign foreign [Music] [Music] alhamdulillah the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam tells us he informs us in hadith that the prophet who most resembles Muhammad wasallam is MS he's the most similar to the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam there's something there that Allah is sending a message to Muhammad wasallam that oh Muhammad many prophets came before you some stories I told you some stories I didn't tell you but pay attention to the story of MS because you're going to need it and the people after you are going to need it don't we need the story of Musa as we witness what we witnessing today across so many parts of the world the story of Musa is a story of hope and the story begins not with Musa Alisam himself but the story begins with Musa Alisam's mother the story of Mus Alisam until he crosses the sea until he reaches the sea the story of Musa Alisam has a number of chapters i'm going to ask you all to repeat it and remember it with me the first chapter of the story of Musa Alisam is the river that's where he finds himself in the river the second chapter of the story of Musa Alisam is the palace which is the palace of the pharaoh of Egypt which he grows up in the third story of Musa Alisam is the conflict he finds himself in the middle of a fight between two people the fourth chapter of Mus Alisam is Median this far away city which he flees flees to the fifth chapter of Mus Alisam is the burning bush when he becomes a prophet he received the first revelation the sixth chapter of Musa Alisam is the exit from Egypt and today we're going to go through these six chapters of the life of Musa Alisam we're going to draw as many lessons as possible from them so stay tuned for the ride what was chapter one it's not KFC why are you guys getting hungry it's the river good story first part of the story Allahh talks about the mother of MS in we inspired the mother of Musa as the guards come knocking on the door looking for your son we inspired the mother of MS that in order to shield your son so they don't hear the noises feed him quickly [Music] if you feel scared about your son then throw him in the river don't be scared and don't be [Music] sad [Music] [Music] for now what do we learn from this first part of the story of MS in this part of the story MS is not the main character who's the main character his mother what's the first lesson that we learn from this part of the story why is Allah talking to us about what MS's mother did why is she important without MS's mother Mus Alam wouldn't exist go on uhhuh okay so he's saying what we learn from the mother of Musa is to trust Allah especially Allah is telling her to throw her baby you see human nature if somebody comes to reach for something you hold it closer to you right by nature by instinct you pull it closer allah saying if you're scared about your child don't hold him close throw him away the wording here is not Allah is not even saying to her to gently place him in a basket chuck him in the river but do not fear do not sadden i promise I will return him to you and I will make him a messenger the mother of MS here is mentioned because without the mother of Musa Alisam there's no Mus now imagine if the mother of Mus was too busy working 9 to5 had no time to look after Mus Alam imagine if the mother of Musa thought that her main objective in life was to maximize the GDP and the income household income remind you if the mother of MS did not even have Mus Alisam in front of her chest because well it's the 21st century so we only do bottle feeding now mother of Musa 2.0 that mother of Musa if that was the mother of Musa we would have a very different story the mother of Musa is the start of this story because everything starts with the woman every great man you've heard of could not have been a great man if it was not for the woman who nurtured alafi born to a single mother alm Ahmed born to a single mother his mother takes him wraps his head in a turban and sends him to the largest masid in Mecca in Baghdad in Egypt in Syria in Gaza in the case of Shafi he's born in Gaza in Palestine he's born and he just has a mother to look after him if it wasn't for these mothers you would not hear about these sons women tend to play a very behindthe-scenes role in society men tend to play the front and center role tend to but the what we are seeing in the in the world the modern world today is a movement that aims to suppress the role of the woman in the household because it's not visible enough it's not masculine enough we can't measure it there's no economic benefit where are the peas where are the pounds send her to work if um Musa was at work when the guards came knocking they would have just found Musaam sat there end of story the whole story starts with the mother because everything begins and ends with the mother what lesson what's the greatest lesson we learned from the mother of Musa Alisam what's the greatest lesson he mentioned it to trust Allah in this whole universe if a if a mother were to give her life for something who would she give her life for a child and Allah is telling her "Throw your child in the river." Allah is asking a mother something that is impossible for most mothers to execute but she does it why the promise of Allah it's something that you have to really digest for a moment allah promised her something if she calculates it's impossible for this promise to be fulfilled i'm going to put my let's think let's think this through for a moment i'm going to put my son in a basket and you're going to return him to me as a prophet what happens in the middle allah says "Trust me trust me and let go." The hardest thing that modern for modern man and modern woman is the ability to let go because we think we are so much in control of everything of technology phones cars laptops all these devices all these advanced science and technology we think we have the illusion of being in control allah is saying "Let go let go let me look after it." She lets go that's the best decision she ever makes but she has a struggle it's not easy for her allahh describes [Music] his mother her heart became emptied she was going to give up and give him to the guards she was about to break but I reassured her and I told her to trust me she trusted me and she became from amongst the believers what she what what is what makes the mother of Musa Alisam special is her iman and this made her special over so many other people on this earth allah praised her in the Quran for her im for her trust in Allah for her ability to let go and leave the matter to Allah two ays later she's back he's back in her arms how is that possible when Allah said to her "I'm going to return him to you and make him a prophet." She probably maybe she may have thought you know I'm going to have to wait 40 years to see him two ayas later he's back in her arms and she's feeding him yes sorry which what how was what told to her allah says "Throw him in the in a box." Uh that's a good question was it a revelation was it an inspiration this is something that scholars differ on and how was this all we know from the Quran is that Allah uses the word which means inspiration or revelation that's all we know so it would be something that was inspired to her or revealed to her from Allah subhana tala then Allah [Music] says I returned him to his mother so that her eyes cool and she doesn't get worried for her to know that the promise of Allah is [Music] true but most people don't realize this what don't most people realize most people don't realize that Allah's promises always come true they fail to trust him they fail to take the leap of faith the mother of Musam she teaches us it's all about the heart allah says I emptied her heart of all of her worries i tied her heart up i reassured her until she felt firm in her decision often we make decisions and we find ourselves very indecisive and often there's some portion of that decision that just requires trust in Allah this is the part of the decision that Allah inspired Mus just do it and trust me i'll look after you to trust Allah is one of the most difficult acts of worship because it requires us to give up our own autonomy and control and hand it all back to Allah this is part one of the story part two of the story chapter two the palace mus Alisam now where does he land he lands in the palace palace of Fyon who finds him from the river fyon's wife Assa she finds Mus Alisam and what does she say sorry she [Music] says look it's a child maybe we can maybe he'll benefit us or we can keep him as a child now there's an interesting parallel here this sentence [Music] uh this child might benefit us or we might take him this child might benefit us or we might take him as a child as our own child this sentence was repeated somewhere else in the Quran where was it repeated in YS there's a lot of parallels actually between Mus Alam and Ysef mus Alam is from which people is ysef Alisam is the son of Yak who is also known as he's also a son of Israel ysef Alisam enters into Egypt mus Alam exits from Ysefam enters the palace of the king musa Alam also ends up in the palace of the tyrant there's a lot of parallels in these two stories so Mus Alam is picked up by Assa this the wife of Fy now there's another female character in the story now the wife of what do we know about the wife of Fyon she was a believer she was a good person anything more she was the queen of Egypt okay what else do we know about her sorry was she killed by in the end yes okay she was caring there's something the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says about the wife of Yes the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says there are five women that are the best of all women in human history one of them is bint muzahim the wife of Now hold on a second how is she in a relationship with the tyrant how is she in a relationship with this horrible man and she's one of the best women do we know anything else about Assa that's mentioned in the Quran allah gave the believers an example in the wife of this woman was abused physically abused emotionally abused living in a tyrants's house no escape and when she is being abused what does she say oh Allah grant me a house in paradise with you and save me from the Pharaoh of Egypt and his actions and save me from the people who are oppressive this is the wife of Now I remember when I named my daughter Assa someone asked me "Oh Assa I never heard that there was a prophet's companion named Asia." I said "Yeah no no." He said "Who is she?" She's the wife of Fyun you didn't find anybody else's wife to name her after except Fy i said "No no she was good." "Yeah but how good could she be?" "No no she one of the best five women of all time is Assa." He goes from one righteous mother to another righteous mother another righteous woman and it is from the ful of Allah from the grace and the generosity of Allah that this young boy even though he's in the palace of the tyrant he still gets the nurturing and the upbringing of a righteous woman this is something gentlemen gentlemen I advise you one of the most important lessons i'm tired of helping young men from Manchester find wives i'm tired i resign early retirement from this job say brother what are you looking for this this this but she has to look 10 out of 10 okay good sister ethnicity matching culture matching personality compatibility ages matching everything's good butad she ain't a 10 though she's a seven out of 10 okay brother let's look for the next one inshallah no problem yeah attraction is a problem apparently let's go for the next one next one once we get to sister number 23 I resign brother you help yourself i can't help you right attraction is important but because of the hypersexualized world we live in everything is images the stuff you see on screens on billboards is so bad our minimum requirement has gone has skyrocketed to the roof and we forget the this first of the story of Musa Alisam the story starts with two women and if it was not for the nurturing of these two women this man would not have turned out the man that he would have turned out to be that was from the selection of Allah that Allah selected these two women when you are looking for a spouse whether it's a wife looking for a husband or vice versa remember that you are looking for the mother of your children do you see that in this person and vice versa you're looking for the father of your children do you see that in this gentleman do you see that responsibility that maturity because believe me when you have children and you have family and responsibilities that 10 out of 10 that you're looking for that won't be as important as it was when you were your hormones were raging the nurturing woman is the most important character in the first half of the life of Musa Alisam if it was not for Asia bint muzahim he would have grown up around tyrants around oppressors around pagans there would not be a single soul to look after him and to teach him what's right but one woman was able to turn the tide completely against the entire society around him it just takes one woman one righteous nurturing woman may Allah subhana wa ta'ala have mercy and accept the efforts of all the women of this ummah who are responsible for all the gentlemen sat here right in front of us make sure you call your moms after this talk inshallah and give her a send her a thank you note i know I will as well inshallah okay this is the first now he's in the palace what happens to young Musa in the palace we don't know what that childhood was like but looking at the personality of Musa Alisam afterwards we know one thing for sure it would not have been an easy childhood at all the next part of the story that we learn about is the conflict now Mus Alam is a young man what do you know about the personality of Mus Alam i'm going to give you two examples two sample stories you tell me what do you know about his personality mus Alam's interaction with his teacher every time something goes wrong what does Mus Alam do he reacts immediately don't do this why did you sink the ship and IRA you've done something wrong you committed a crime how could you do that how could you and what does keep asking him can you please be patient i'll explain to you what's going on later that's one scene just keep that in your mind second scene this [Music] conflict foreign [Music] [Music] allah says MS reaches his peak now this could mean he reaches adulthood this could mean he reached the age of messengerhood or prophethood and he became balanced that's really what maturity is about right you become balanced in the way you think and you become balanced in the way you act allah says we gave him judgment and knowledge and that's how we reward those who excel and one day he enters the center of the city now the palace a palace will not usually be in the center of the city palace will usually be in a gated place far away from all of the noise protected area so Musa Alisam he grows up in this palace but now he's entering the city now when you walk on Wimsler road or you go to a busy bazaar or a souk or a market in one of you know the most populated countries in the world there's a lot of characters a lot of things going on you have to be about your wits you have to be careful musam enters the city and he does not have a clear idea about the people and the different characters in the city he's unaware of what goes on he's oblivious he's naive and he sees there two people fighting one from his group and one from his enemy who what's his group manchester United what banu is his group banu is and the other group is the group of or rather it's a race right benu is a race it's an ethnicity it's a tribal background so you have the Israelites and you have the cops or the Egyptians you know you could argue they're both Egyptian but basically there's two races but one race has enslaved the other race does anybody know when this happened in recent history when you enslave a whole race of people just out of the blue slave trade where was that african slave trade but where were the slaves where were they enslaved in the United States of America that's where they were enslaved the transatlantic slave trade ships and ships of African slave africans were brought and they were enslaved simply because they're Africans and many Muslims were there in that transatlantic slave trade so the Israelites are treated as a the entire group is enslaved they're looked down on inside they're subhuman second standard citizens they don't have the same rights so now what happens this is what you call an aparthide state right when you have two groups of people with different rights when was the last time we saw an aparthide state come on guys more recently than South Africa yes that's what I'm talking about see uncle is ahead of all of you yes yes you have aparthide South Africa but some would argue that what we're seeing now happening in Palestine Palestine is being tra treated like an aparthide state where you have two categories of citizens some with more rights some with less rights right that's Musa Alisam comes into this conflict and he sees two people one from his group one from the other group the person the Israelite man calls out for his help what does Mus Alam do ko he comes straight away comes in boom knocked out complete elimination and the man he passes away on the spot from this incident and the incident of Mus what can you tell about the personality Allahh granted Musa because the prophets have different personalities what personality does Musam have yes okay he's strong he's physically strong yes okay angry is in this moment but personality meaning all the time yeah okay he responds quickly to help and to aid yes that's opinion but I don't agree gone you're saying he's loyal okay gone that's it mus Alisam has a very very strong sense of justice if he sees injustice you better believe that the injustice had nothing to do with you if he sees injustice he wants to change it immediately he cannot sit back and watch this is the nature of Mus Alam right mus Alisam when he returns from the meeting with Allah and Allah revealed to him the tablets he comes down and what does he see what is Banu is doing worshiping a cow what does he do he throws the revealed tablets and what does he do he goes and grabs his brother's head the brother's brother pleaded with him son of my mother please don't grab my head or my beard he's grabbing his head and his beard this is the this is the strong this is the character of M you have to understand the personality of this man so Mus Alam he cannot stand injustice this is one of the greatest traits that a person can have and if somebody is going to lead lead the oppressed people out of the oppression they have to have this trait what what does it mean to lead to lead means to take action to take initiative to stand up to do something about it so many people give courses on leadership and speeches about leadership leadership comes down to this one thing to stand up for the sake of Allah and do something about it so Mus Alam's of that category so he strikes the enemy and me falls down and he dies on the spot immediately Mus Alam has a realization i made a mistake that was from the doing of the shan he is such a great enemy huh why does he say that he saw an injustice he went and he gave the guy one uppercut why is that from the of thean surely he did the right thing yes okay you're saying from the intention was he was it from a place of anger you okay he wanted to hit him but not kill him okay you're on to something there's a principle there when he killed him he went too far yes he was quick to repent to Allah gone okay he didn't wait to find out what happened with both sides there's a number of potential interpretations for this ayah even from the scholars of what we know for sure is that what Musa Alisam did was involuntary it was not on purpose he did not want to kill the man so the man passing away was a mistake it was not his fault it was not on purp intentionally immediately he turns to Allah and that's something that we have to learn from the early days the development of Muslims sat in front of many young men and I want all of these young men and the young women and the old women and the old men don't be any but especially those who are young look at the young Mus Alam and think about what you can implement in your life one of the important pieces Musa Alam stands up for justice immediately if you cannot stand stand up for justice in your locality when two people fight two people doing a drug trade if you can't do something about that then forget about anything greater than that this is the origin story of Mus Alam so Mus Alam steps in and then he makes a dua to Allah now this is something another important point about the early life and the development of Mus Alam oh Allah with the blessings you have given me I don't want to help any oppressor he wakes up the next day again he wakes up the next morning scared and [Music] vigilant the person who was looking for his help yesterday is now screaming out for him again ma I'm in trouble again [Music] mus Alam says to this guy "You are clearly lost." Was he being unfair why did he say that to him he's oppressed right from the oppressed people from Banu is he's calling out for Musha's help so why is Musha Alam dismissing him okay he had fight two days in a row yeah okay you're saying he he constantly he's constantly needing help anything else yes ah yes he's always finds himself in an altercation why is you know if the same guy is having a fight two days in a row you start to wonder was it who was the problem who's the one picking the fight in this moment Mus Alam there's an important paradigm shift in the mind of the person observing the story it's not always that somebody who's from an oppressed class is always the oppressed person they might be the oppressor they might be a problem creator but you don't realize right so it's very sometimes it's very convenient oh all these people are oppressed then someone from the oppressed class does something wrong you're like it's okay they're all oppressed they're allowed to do whatever they want no no hold on a second hold on a second who is the problem creator here it could be somebody from the oppressed class mus Alam realized and then Musa Alisam still gets involved and as he intends to again correct the person who's their common enemy this man speaks [Music] out he says "Ma do you want to kill me like you killed somebody yesterday all you want to be is you want to be someone a a terror on this earth and you're not trying to fix anything and now somebody comes from the edge of the city a man comes from the edge of the [Music] city he comes m the what is the mala in Arabic mala means to fill something the mela are people when you see them it's like they fill the whole horizon people of high status high importance the advisers the inner circle of they're plotting to kill you to assassinate you MS so get out of here I am definitely here trying to sincerely advise you later on in the story we find out that somebody from the inner circle of accepts Islam [Music] [Applause] So there's a man who's in's government in his advisory board who's not a Muslim sorry who's a Muslim but secretly a Muslim he's hiding his iman and why is he there he's there to prevent harm to Musa and to the believers he's saying to them "Guys how can you kill someone just because they believe in one god don't do that that's unjust." But eventually he gets found and he gets exposed it might have been the same person Allah but he comes shouting to Musa Musa get out of here you are about to be pursued and killed mus Alam leaves but again at this point in time he raises his hands to Allah it's very important in the life of Musa Alam to notice one thing he is constantly talking to Allah the first time when he makes a mistake he pummeles the man the man falls and dies oh Allah I made a mistake please forgive me when he's leaving Egypt Oh Allah save me from these people when he reaches Median again and again and again Mus Alisam is always talking to Allah he might go through the worst day of his life he might go through the best day of his life but he never stops being in conversation with Allah if you were to ask me what is the fuel that gives MS so much courage to stand in front of what what did he eat for breakfast i'm telling you it was not 100% what did he eat that gave him the energy the courage the power the ability what was his nourishment it was his ability to constantly speak to Allah this morning in the hudba when I recited the dua of Musa when he reached the sea after thebah someone came and said can I can you tell me the dua in Arabic so I can make it at home I said he didn't make dua in Arabic he said what like you know when you go to the internet and you go to the wrong website and there's a 404 error this brother he had like a 404 error he was like he didn't make dua in Arabic I said no of course not he didn't speak Arabic didn't speak Arabic no what what do you think he spoke Aramaic He spoke to Allah in his language how many of us have spoken to Allah in our language yes what's the difference between when you speak to Allah in your language versus when you speak to Allah with a script in another language that was given to you how does it feel yes you can speak your heart properly okay it helps you develop that relationship with Allah because you speak what you feel how you feel it and if you speak it in another language you can't develop that same connection you can't really express yourself with Allah someone had you can redeem yourself i'm joking yes uh there's a level of closeness and a level of spiritual closeness and intimacy with Allah yes the words are coming from yourself not from a script if you read the duas of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the duas of the prophets all of them their duas came from the bottom of their heart you could not translate that only Allah subhana t can translate that into Arabic so I'm going to ask those of you who have only ever made dua in Arabic do you feel that level of closeness do you feel you can just speak to Allah you can just complain to him you can vent to him you can cry to him you can just talk to him about whatever you want do you feel that with Allah you won't this is the sunnah of Mus Alam and remember this if you are going to be somebody who has some impact on the world you have to be in constant conversation with Allah because you can't do it alone and you speak to better speak to Allah in your own language the words now this is not to undermine before people refute me to undermine and to say the the dua of the prophet has no value no there is a special blessing and a special virtue to the duas of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam but whether you say it in Arabic or Uru or English or Nepali or Dutch it doesn't matter what matters most in the acceptance of dua is for the sincerity of that dua that supplication to come from your heart that's what matters most not the language in which you say it so practice speaking to Allah in your own language that's an important one now Mus Alam reaches Madyan he reaches Madyan and he says Oh Allah guide me to the right way this is the same thing he said when he stood in front of the sea mus Alam remember no GPS no threeyear plan no sprint plan no quarterly objectives he has no idea what's happening next in his life he's in a city he doesn't know there's nobody he knows he has no plan what do you need when you have no plan you need guidance there's something we ask Allah for 17 times a day we ask Allah to show us the way oh Allah show us the way show us the way but please remember this on those days when you feel lost on days when those days when you're ready to call a friend call a mate you know speak to somebody else remember that the one who will clarify your confusion and show you the way when you're lost is Allah the one who showed Musa Alisam his way he reaches Median and he sees a huge group of men around a well and two women on the side what instinct has just been triggered justice every moment in Musha's life he has this instinct he cannot sit still if he sees just something injustice happening he walks over to the woman straight away two words what is going on that's it if one of our brothers today saw two sisters his two single sisters poor sisters on the side you know and they needed some help maybe he would come talk for about 5 minutes drop his business card drop his Instagram handle flex his muscles sisters subhan Allah such beautiful sisters are you married by any chance m Alam look at the professionalism what's going on why are you guys on the side [Music] we can't feed our cattle until these men leave our father's too old to help us so what does he do he just takes their goats he feeds them and he gives them gives it back and he doesn't stick around to get their credit and appreciation and admiration so you know I'm new in the city i've been looking for a place to sit nothing no dialogue [Music] nothing he immediately goes and he just sits in the shade and what does he do at this point he speaks to Allah he's not trying to get something from them i done you a favor you do me a favor i scratch your back you scratch mine he's not interested in that he did it by principle and then he goes to the [Music] side oh Allah I am in need of anything good you can give me [Music] one of the important lessons to learn from Mus Alam is how to deal with how men and women should interact in the most respectful manner many people think that Islam advocates a kind of strict segregation where men and women can never interact in their lives the same person who advocates this stance goes to Tesco to buy some groceries and the cashier is female then he comes back and he says you can never interact with women's life by necessity men and women must interact with each other but what is it that Allah wants for the interaction to be respectful for the interaction to not cross bounds for the interaction to not cause harm and that's where the rules come in the first thing Musa Alam goes and talks to these two women in a public place has he done something prohibited something haram no he's not but what is his intention to help them to remove this injustice yes they are disadvantaged because they're women that's not fair he is standing up to help them out there's an important lesson here as well which is that when you do something in the service of Allah you serve Allah's creation Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you blessings from where you never expected the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said whoever makes easy somebody's difficulty Allah will make his difficulties easy on the day of judgment so how's now the woman come one of the two sisters comes back walking modestly and then she comes to MS she speaks to him my father is calling you to give you the reward for what you did for us to pay you to compensate you for what you did for us and Musa Alisam says Mus Alisam says let's Oh or initially in some in some narrations he refuses and she insists he says "Okay." And what happens musa Alisam walks in front of her and he tells her to throw pebbles to indicate to him which direction to turn so he's not walking behind her and he doesn't have the full view of her behind the modesty of Musa the modesty of this woman and as they are walking he goes and he meets her father he tells him the story the father says "Don't worry you are now safe you are now in a safe place away from the oppressors." Now one of the two daughters gives the father an indication my father employ him the best person you can employ is strong and trustworthy now this is another really important one young people as you grow and as you mature if you don't have these two traits you will never get a job you will never get married you'll never amount to anything in life the first of these two traits is strength it's not just physical strength but it's skills abilities what can you actually do and the second of these two is ama trustworthiness character who are you really if you open any job description on the internet you'll have two sections you'll have the job description which has the skills that you need the tools you need to use and then you have what they call person specification what character should you have proactive good communicator blah blah blah blah blah now tell me and skills and character which one is more difficult to learn character you're saying skills anybody else a mana is harder okay how easy is it to watch a YouTube video and learn how to cook one dish but how difficult is it to learn how to be honest even when the temptation is there to lie character is much more difficult to develop and this is what as a as a young person school you're going to school qualifications you know GCSE Btech A level this this and everyone in society is pressurizing you constantly to do exceedingly well in your qualifications but there's another thing you need to really pay attention to is your character your maturity your honesty your punctuality your relationship with Allah your relationship with your parents your relationship with your friends your cousins your relatives who you are as a person people will never remember how good you were at Microsoft Excel but they will remember how you made them feel when you spoke to them your character speaks volumes mus Alisam did he speak a lot to this these two women like probably like five words what what did he get within the next 30 minutes of entering the house marriage proposal yes my brother who was looking for the marriage proposals all don't laugh guys i know it's most of you as well it's not only him ms he's the one who he he asked "What's the root to the marriage proposal let your character shine in your interactions your character speaks for itself." The marriage proposal came like this because of how his character spoke volumes he was pursued he didn't he didn't propose did the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam propose to Khadijah she proposed to him why she was impressed by his character yeah exactly she sent him on a mission to test his character and she was impressed by his character what will solve our individual marriage problems is working hard on our character of course all the tools that you need to use at your disposal to go and find a spouse is absolutely valid but do not underrate the importance of working on your character musa Alam stays there for how many years 10 years now tell me in the grand scheme of the story of Musa why does Allah subhanaa t leave him there for 10 years in his development horrible childhood in the house of a palace of a tyrant getting into fights in the streets of Egypt running away from Egypt what has his life been so far stressful turbulent life why does he need 10 years in Madan and it is narrated that the man the father of these two women was the prophet Shaham but there's a difference of opinion but he was a wise man and a a righteous man regardless why is he in Mad what's the purpose he trained as a shepherd what else stability in his life to relax a bit you'd like that wouldn't you okay to rest the calm before the storm huh okay what else yeah uh-huh for him to learn to take knowledge yes uh for him to be a shepherd to teach him patience yep to gain wisdom from who from the cows from Allah subhana tala he's not getting revelation yet okay wisdom from experience okay you guys you're all moving around the topic okay responsibility and family yes to prepare how what what happens in median that prepares him you want to go fight the biggest heavyweight in the world boxer how am I going to prepare you going to be in the gym you're going to be punching bags every day push-ups sit-ups the whole drill right men quiet village with cows he how is he being prepared there's something there's an element here that all of you are missing the most important element what is that called who did Allah give him a mentor the importance of having a mentor every young man and young woman if you want to amount to anything in life you need somebody to mentor you to to teach you to guide you to give you wisdom to help you you consult when you are not sure what to do if it was not for such a mentor would Mus Alam have gained that wisdom and that patience the importance of the mentor cannot be undermined here he needed a mentor he needed stability what's he doing in the house of Shre Alam he's working responsibility now today find a 24 year old young man i want to change the ummah what do you do old dear brother i play PlayStation 5 mashallah and then after what do you do my mom gives me food in a plate she delivers it at the door mashallah then then what happens after that oh I'm a content creator i make some videos on Instagram mashallah we We wanted to liberate what we want to liberate [Music] Palestine responsibility mentorship get a job work hard sweat learn patience find a mentor study with the mentor attend a class attend a repeating class until the last page of the book show your patience show your diligence show your persistence take responsibility have some difficulty in life not everything easy all the time ditch the PS5 ditch the Xbox ditch the Nintendo Wii ditch the smartphone ditch the social media do something with your life if you ever want to aspire to be anything like Mus Alam he needed 10 years of that mentorship of that development because and it was not 10 wasted years because today we have a generation that's very impatient to contribute but what our scholars teach us and what the Quran teaches us an empty jug cannot pour if you don't nurture and grow yourself then you will not have anything to give and anything to do this is important for Musham he develops in private he's not having a vlog every day hey guys day one on the job me in median here's how it's going no nobody needs to see his phases his development his mistakes nobody needs to see that he's developing in secret you don't see his struggles you don't see his difficult times you don't see his sleepless nights that's all happening in private all preparation for him for the day in which he's going to receive the message so now Musa Alisam he says it's unclear but what's most likely is that he got married very soon after that conversation and then he had to work for 8 to 10 years he works there for 10 years no yeah I know he doesn't have a no 10 years without marriage no that's a problem you know that that's a problem 10 years 10 years without marriage okay so Mus Alisam he completes his does his time goes mentor this you know this phase of 10 years where you have the mentor and you're working under the mentor and you're being guided by the mentor this is called the apprenticeship phase now apprenticeship we what we think of an apprenticeship we think something very specific as is defined in our locality every master at anything whether it was Picasso whether it was Michelangelo whether it was philosophers scientists everybody went through a period of mentorship and apprenticeship until they became the master that's really important to understand and if that's missing you will always have a ceiling in your development so Musa Alam is ready and he goes and I'm going to end on this last piece of the story because if I continue until he stands in front of the sea we'll be here till tomorrow musa Alisam as he's leaving Median and on his way back to Egypt he senses a fire he says to his family "Wait let me go and see maybe I can go and get some news or can get some fire that will help us find our way back as he gets there he is called from the sacred land around the [Music] tree he's called "Oh Ma it is me i am Allah Lord of the worlds oh Musa I want you to throw your stick [Music] when he saw the stick moving as though it is as though it is a snake he turned and he ran and he didn't look back i want to pause here for a second in other parts of the Quran before Allah tells him throw the stick Allah subhana t asks him anybody know the ayah oh Musa what's that in your right hand now how can MS respond if I ask you brother what's that on your left hand there what will you say to me a watch two-word response right okay look at MS's response allah says what's in your right hand what should he have said a stick simple multiple choice answer no complications what does MS say [Music] it's my stick i rely on it i use it to tend to my sheep and I have so many uses for it what's he doing here he's speaking extra why that he wants to prolong his conversation with Allah yeah that's what we do right why laughing because it's all of us mus Alisam taking his time giving extra details reading long suras saying things that don't need to be said why he wants to prolong his standing in front of Allah because sorry he he feels a sense of closeness he feels like he has never felt before in his entire life why when he's standing in that spot there in front of Allah now what is the theme allah says "What do you do what's that in your right hand i rely on it i use it for this i use for that i use it to tend my sheep." What's the theme here what's the stick to MS what does it symbolize to MS why he's a young man why is he carrying a stick the stick has become part of him now what does Allah ask him to do throw the stick that thing you think you rely on you have to let go of it you have to trust me now from now on not your stick the lord of the stick so he threw it did he get what he expected maybe it would have been nice you know the stick turns into some light you know stick turns into some food a plate of food what did the stick turn into a snake what's Allah teaching Mus Alam the thing that you rely on the most can harm you or when you fulfill my It's a commandment right throw the stick when you fulfill my commandments you think it's going to be just a bed of roses all the time you're going to be like levitating and like everything's going to be perfect you're going to fulfill my commandments and you're still going to see snakes are you ready for that was Mus ready for that he turned and he ran yes allahh is teaching him you are not the man before you need to become somebody else to go to yes uh Allah is teaching him when you are commanded to do something by Allah you may fulfill the commandments and yet snakes will come at you but don't be scared i decreed that to happen yes similar to how Allah tested Ibraim with the sacrifice of isam he commanded him but something good came out of it yes yes it teaches Mus Alam Allah controls whether something will benefit or harm yes yes when you fulfill the commandments of Allah don't expect things are going to go as per expectations allah is teaching Mus Alam delete the word expectations from your dictionary don't expect anything i'm going to surprise you you don't know what's going to happen next but just trust me he turned and he ran he didn't turn around that detail Allah mentions he ran in such a way he sprinted like Usain Bolt on the 100 meter he was not interested in turning around what does Allah do allah calls him come back don't be [Music] scared you are safe even though I put a snake in front of you you're safe why why does he want him to feel safe in front of a snake it's human nature to feel scared of the snake what's this called yes okay you're saying that Allah's teaching mus put your trust in Allah nothing bad can happen let me ask you a question another way are there people on earth who are not afraid of snakes who handle them on a daily basis how do they handle snakes on a daily basis sorry how did they become were they born without the fear how did it happen they overcome it how one day they just said "I'm a tiger now." Like you're saying they know how the snake works they've learned to deal with the consequences how to combat it there is a technique called gradual exposure day one you just look at the snake from a distance day two they say just touch it just Oh nothing happened i touched the snake day three just just hold the snake here day four day five day six day six day 45 the snake's chilling around your neck and your best mates gradual exposure allah is teaching Mus Alisam he is conditioning him and getting him used to this kind of situation where there is something unexpected that's scary but Ma be ready for that i'm going to expose you to it now in my safe presence because later you're going to be exposed to snakes again in whose presence friends of be ready from now it's important to gradually expose yourself to all those things that we fear and we see as dangerous and which is harmful so when we it comes we are ready now you've seen the snake allah says "You just come back running you're safe now grab the snake." No no grab the snake grab the snake and don't [Music] fear i'll turn it into a stick only after you touch it you have to overcome that fear put your hand on it and then I will convert it back to a stick not yet you have to overcome oh musa you will not be able to overcome and you will not be able to cross the sea and you will not be able to accomplish what you are going to accomplish until you learn this point from me you have to overcome your greatest enemy it's not your fear you have to overcome your fear fear is the greatest reason why human beings don't take action they're scared allah subhanaa tala then commands he tells him put your hand in your in [Music] your will come with bright light now I'm going to send you to now you're ready you are a messenger I'm going to send you to what's Musha's first response [Music] Oh Allah I'm scared that they'll just reject me fear of rejection you know fear of rejection yes and I'm scared when I get there my chest will squeeze i'll feel trapped and I won't be able to speak feel that anxiety that fear it'll paralyze me i'll be frozen there no speech is going to happen please send Harun with me and they I'm a criminal wanted in Egypt so I'm I'm scared they might kill me what was the first lesson Allah taught him with a snake don't be scared don't be scared what's the first thing he says when Allah says "You're a prophet and I'm scared i'm scared i'm scared i'm scared i'm scared." Now you're terrified ms is terrified of his past he's terrified of the consequences he's terri He doesn't have confidence in himself that he can stand up to this mission he's terrified how is Allah going to calm him down this is in the beginning of in order for MS to calm down and to have confidence in himself Allah has to tell him his story all over again ms I'm going to give you your brother as an additional prophet no problem but you know Musa this is the second time I've done you a favor huh allah starts to tell him the story all over again from the beginning allahh begins to tell Musa Alisam the story from the beginning in order for Musam to realize one thing tells him the whole story remember your sister she walked next to you you reached the palace then you left then this happened then this happened and then Musa you came when I planned for you to come this was all planned and then Allah subhana t says something it reassures MS like nothing ever reassured MS [Music] i designed you for my service this word is never used in the Quran it's a word used when people manufacture when they mold clay into exactly the right shape that they want i molded you Musa for this moment you are ready why are you scared i molded you for this moment don't be scared but you know what's going to help you all those fears you have there's only one way to silence them go with your brother with my miracles do not stop remembering me the therapists don't tell you that sigman Freud doesn't talk about that all the psychologists they don't know about this secret the secret drug the drug of the antidote the antioxidant the the if you really remember Allah there is nothing that can bring peace of mind and calm your fears like the remembrance of Allah allah says to Mus "You're scared you're scared you're scared you're scared no problem remember me you'll be fine." Allah reveals in the Quran to Muslims who are in battle When you meet an enemy be firm and remember me frequently so you win the battle hold on a second you can say "Sharpen your sword so that you win the battle prepare your artillery have a good strategy make so you win the battle." What kind of a strategy is this this is the divine strategy because battles are not won on the battlefield battles are won over here in the mind and the heart the battle of the mind and the heart is the real battlefield and the greatest antidote the greatest confidence booster the greatest form of therapy is the remembrance of Allah no medication no therapy nothing has that potent ability to calm a human being down and to give them peace of mind like the remembrance of Allah and I'm not saying for the refuters I'm not saying that those other methods are not useful of course they are but there's nothing like the remembrance of Allah so Allah tells Mush Alam you're scared doesn't matter i molded you for this moment and I want all of you to think about this in your own lives if you think if Mus Alisam did not make sense of his past he would not have been ready for what's next a lot of us we struggle with what happened in our past difficult moments failures fears if you don't make sense of what happened in the past and come to terms with it and come to peace with it you will not be ready for what's next for the role Allah has planned for you and this is what I want to leave you all thinking allah molded MS for something specific to serve him in a specific way allah is molding everybody listening to this in a specific way to serve a specific purpose for his sake every difficulty you faced in life every blessing you had in life every epiphany you had in life what you studied what you worked which friends you made it was all for a reason allah is molding you for something what is Allah preparing you for this is what you need to rack your brains and think about and what am I going to do to serve Allah what's my specific purpose yes everyone's purpose is to worship Allah but your worship is different from my worship there are people in this room their worship of Allah is they wake up at 2:00 a.m they go to the A&E and they perform surgery there's people here their worship is they walk to the masjid they find two people dealing drugs and they come in and they try to sort it out stop it from happening everyone is going to worship Allah in a different way but you need to discover what's your way and what's your story and what has Allah molded you to do when Mus Alam can unlock this nobody can stop him and nobody can come in his way a man with a purpose with a mission with no fear with the remembrance of Allah nothing can stop him this is the making of MS today what I have taken you to up to this moment in time is the making of MS why am I sharing this with you today we are coming up to the day of the day in which Musam led Banu is across the sea today there in the world around us we see so many people drowning in so many different ways we see so many injustices and so many problems who of us here in this room listening to this online or offline who's going to stand up to lead Muslims to lead us across the sea there's so many seas and so many enemies and so many issues but who's going to stand up it's about making yourself like the making of MS the mentorship the apprenticeship the remembrance of Allah the dua the closeness to Allah subhana wa tala the time away to develop the time of solitude of reflection that was important in the making of Musa all of these elements the interaction with the opposite gender the importance of family and building a family of taking responsibility why did I mention all these things if you do all of these things then Allah subhana wa ta'ala is molding you is readying you for something and you better figure out what that is i will tell you something the moment you figure out what that specific purpose Allah created you for it will be the best moment in your life the rest of your life will be driven by that purpose this is what I'm here for allah created me for this this is what I need to do you will not waste your time you will not waste your time with people with ideas with distractions because you have a purpose if you can unlock this purpose think back to your life if you can unlock this purpose you've unlocked everything when Musa Alisam's purpose is unlocked and his mission is defined for him he becomes unstoppable not the pharaoh not his army not his magicians nobody could stop him with my signs o M you and those who follow you will always win you will always be victorious and as we come to the end of today's talk this is my plea and my request to all of you is reflect carefully on the story of MS inah different parts of the Quran spend some time with the prophet Musa Alam this month this month of Muharon and take the lessons and learn and remember this one important point every tyrant will drown one day one day Napoleon Bonapart left Egypt one day the Algerians took back their country one day the Somalis Sudanis Indonesians the Malays every Muslim nation that was oppressed that was colonized that was taken that was raped that was pillaged whose resources were stolen one day they retook their land and they retook their autonomy and the colonizer left and the colonizer died and the colonizer drowned because the lesson from the story is that every tyrant will fall but it's about did you were you part of those that led to the fall or were you quietly watching on the sidelines and eating popcorn
