Concrete Slump Test Procedure

Overview

Test Procedure

    • Wet the cone and the test surface to prevent sticking.
    • Ensure the surface is level.
  2. Filling the Cone
    • Fill the cone with concrete in 3-4 equal lifts.
    • Use the rodding tool to compact the concrete and remove air pockets.
    • Top off the concrete level with the cone's top.
  3. Removing the Cone
    • Carefully lift the cone vertically.
    • Observe the slump (the distance the concrete falls).

Measuring Results

  • The cone is 12 inches tall; measure the drop from the top of the cone to the top of the slumped concrete.
