[Music] Hello and welcome back. [Music] All right, 7.3 MSQ tessos. You heading to the back room? Yes. All right. Let me talk to all these NPCs first. See if they've got anything updated to say Gazan is helping us coordinate efforts with the administration here in Alexandria. We have to work hand in hand to ensure that the people can get back to their normal lives. I worry about Gulja, though. I know he's still frustrated that he couldn't do anything to stop the machines. If only there was a way to take his mind off things. That's old text. But I might as well just do it for recap's sake. Sen, I will dedicate myself first to healing magics so I may help treat people's wounds. It will be a time-consuming process to reacquire my abilities, but a necessary one that I dare not rush. Even though there's no telling when Kix will make his next move. Gulger, I couldn't fight them, and I couldn't even get my authority back when it was stolen. So, what good am I? I need to find a way to be more useful. Cryle. Raha and Alfao patrol the city while Ishola and Alise continue treating levan sickness and those injured in the attack. I shall stay here to help coordinate efforts, so I suggest taking the opportunity to get some rest. Geode, we've set up patrols outside, so I came back here to see how things are. Unfortunately, although we stopped the rampaging hover cargos, now we have to deal with delays in electric transport and slowdowns in production, the complications will likely continue for some time. And just for good measure, Genalt. The equipment here didn't start trying to kill me, but it did start acting up while I was in the middle of my work. One of my finest pieces ruined just like that. As if the power outage wasn't bad enough. Okay, so if you couldn't tell already, I am a bit under the weather, but I've been told that my voice sounds better when I'm sick, so hopefully that's a nice added bonus. Uh cuz yeah, I will be reading all this out. Hopefully there's not enough. I mean, there's not too many sniffles and whatnot. Anyway, onwards. Targeted tragedy. Shale wishes for a moment of your time. Shale, if you have a moment, I geode wants to take stock of the current crisis. Oblivion may be lacking the finer details in certain areas. So, we'd like you to lend your perspective to the conversation. [Music] Geode, sorry to drag you into our meeting, but we need to get a better handle on the threats Alexandria is facing right now. cry. Not at all. Much has happened since the state funeral, and a clearer idea of where things stand would be beneficial for us as well. [Music] Shale, first things first, then let's discuss the state of the machine malfunctions. Every single sector reported instances of centuries attacking citizens without provocation and vehicles suddenly becoming unresponsive to controls. And while these malfunctions were resolved fairly quickly, they nevertheless resulted in a considerable number of injuries and deaths. But you haven't heard anything about new incidents since then, right? Shale, right? No additional reports have been logged as far as I know. That's the good news. Little John, the bad news is I tried to take control of the soldiers when they started hurting people, but they wouldn't listen to me, even though I have the king's authority. Once things calmed down, I was finally able to make them give up their weapons. But if it happens again, I don't know if they'll ignore me like before. [Music] Geode the king of resolves authority is about the highest there is. Who is this man that can override it such impunity? Zen call. He lived in the age of the storm surge as I did. Lest you forget, he was known for his advancements in electro electro technology, and it was he who established preservation for the purpose of furthering his research. The wasting disease which afflicted him, however, was said to leave him scant years left to live. He must have chosen to undergo conversion into an endless that he might continue his efforts into the present day. [Music] Geode preservation's early goals seemed noble enough. Exploring treatments for leavenven sickness, designing Everkeep's core system, that sort of thing. Why harm the people he was ostensibly trying to help? I do not pretend to fully understand Kix's motivations, only that he appeared insensed by what he saw as mankind's failings. He asserted that the strategy of adapting our species through generational succession was outdated. That evolution now requires us to forsake bodies of flesh in favor of eternal preservation. Cryle. We've already seen how he's employed the simulant to convince Alexandrians that endless conversion is their only hope for survival. Eternal life is assured for the 5,000 who register their near regulators. But this is merely one part of Kalix's greater plan. He wants the key to interdimensional fusion. With that relic in his possession, he will draw ether from the reflections and expand his efforts to create endless a thousandfold. [Music] Shale, if we mean to foil Kix's schemes, then our only option is to determine where he's hiding and put him down, which unfortunately is easier said than done. I've been scouring the terminal we found in the depths of Everkeep, but I've failed to uncover even the slightest trace of his activities. Give me a little more time, though, and I'm sure I can sniff him out. [Music] Gula, I'll help you. Geode, while Gulja and Sha are working on that, I think I'm going to take a look around town. I want to make sure no new problems have cropped up, as well as search for any information that might lead us to Kix. You're welcome to come along. Another malfunction could happen at any time, and I'd be glad to have some brawers at my back. Cryle, count me in. Raha and the others are helping Oblivion patrol the other levels of the keep. So, shall we stick to the streets of Solution 9? Geode. Sounds like a plan. Thanks, you two. I appreciate the company. I have to speak with the city's administrators about bringing in the Lansguard. I want our soldiers around to protect those who are moving to Tulle. Alvano and Alise will be joining me for the meeting so the three of us can cover that sector as soon as we're done. If I may, I'd like to join Ever's group if you'll have me. Sure. cheered. The more mouths to ask questions, the marrier. As long as you're aware of the dangers, thank you. I'll do my best not to be a burden. Shale, I'm more worried about you, Geod, don't do anything stupid. J, you'll change your tune once we get back with the goods on Call. Then the drinks are on you. Come on, let's continue this outside. [Music] Shale, good luck with your patrol and take your time. We can do without geode until you're done with that old s. Ah, sorry. Just when I think I've internalized better manners. Talking with Gio brings back all the old habits. Good job. I wish I could grow up faster. There'll be so much more I can do when I'm bigger like you. You'll get there again. Old. Seems the machines have gone quiet again. So I can get back to maintaining the weapons around here. Hope for the best. But prepare for the worst, as they say. [Music] Melancholy. Well, now, how good of you to come and see me again. You're always welcome at the Neon Stein. Adorable. She always says that [Music] Cryle the city looks as though it's regained a sense of normaly. Alas, the people will not soon forget recent events. Spine, I will do my utmost to ensure the happiness of Alexandria and its people. [Music] Geode. Sorry, I was off in my own little world. Shall we get started? What will you say? The people seem uneasy. Are you all right, Geode? Let's see what there is to see. Seems like they really want us to focus on Geode this time around. So, let's go with that. Are you all right, Geode? Geode. Me? I'm well enough given the circumstances. [Music] It was the queen's fondest wish that her subjects remain shielded from the horrors of death. And so they were for the longest time. Then the moment mortality once again becomes an unavoidable fact of life, they're greeted with an outbreak of bloody violence. Many are bound to give the endless alternative serious consideration. spine indeed and I do not blame them for that. It is only natural that such thoughts should come to mind. What I cannot forgive is the way Call wields fear and misery to manipulate people into making that choice. No one, not Klex nor anyone else should dictate how we cope with the spectre of death. As one who lived as an Alexandrian, I wish to put the choices for this country's future back into the hands of its citizens. Geode, and you think we can handle that responsibility after everything you've seen of us, it is what I've seen that has convinced me you can. I awoke four centuries later to find our people living and laughing beneath Alexandria's banner. Though surprised and bewildered, I was overjoyed to see it so. You all deserve to be happy, Gode. Well, then [Music] we'd best not let you down. Now, I suggest we move as a group. We don't know if or when a battle might find us. Cryle. Oh, I believe someone came prepared for just such an eventuality. Sien the scholar. [Music] Is that the grimoire you retrieved from the old castle? [Music] Yes. My parents gifted it to me when I was a child. They were adamant that I should learn to protect the things important to me. I was fortunate enough to have a tutor in the arcane arts, so I laid claim to some small measure of skill. Cryle, if that's the case, it might be better if we split into two groups after all. It would certainly be more efficient for information gathering. Geode, I uh I guess that makes sense. The two of you can take the west side of the recreation zone then. Abra and I will take the east. [Music] Cryle. Very well. We shall end our patrol in the plaza just past True View and await you there. [Music] Cheddar, let's do the rounds, then. We'll see what's what and chat to the people we meet along the way. Pay special attention to anyone who looks overwhelmed or overly excited. Hopefully that will earn us a tidbit or two we didn't know before. Well, new tool tips. What is escort? What escorting entails? Certain duties require that one or more NPCs accompany you in order to proceed with quest objectives. You must keep them at your side and make your way to a designated location. Oof. As long as you remain in the same area, NPCs accompanying you will remain at your side even when using teleport or the Ethernet. It is possible to ride mounts or swim while escorting NPCs. Please note, however, they will not appear at your side until you dismount or leave the water. You may also speak with NPCs while escorting them. Furthermore, you may encounter conversation points along the way which offer additional topics of discussion. These points will also be indicated on your map. Parting ways with NPCs. When speaking with NPCs, you will be given the option to part ways. You will also part ways automatically when changing areas. If you part ways with an NPC, you may return to the starting point and speak with them to try again. Yes. Talk Geode. I'm guessing you would have preferred to go with Sween and Cryle, but I'm afraid you're stuck with me. I grow on people though. I promise. Never mind, man. Let's go to the talking point first. Discuss trivia. Geode. Ah, the memories. I used to drink around here all the time. I made sure not to overdo it when I had work the next day. But once we were past the busy season or when the ladies weren't amanable to my company, well, you'd have to scrape me off the street outside in the morning or afternoon. The worst I ever got was on what should have been the worst day of my life. Only I could remember it. I was still wearing a regulator back then. [Music] It was also the day I first met Shale, although I guarantee she's forgotten forgotten it completely m developing romance somber citizen. Are the centuries and airwheers safe to be around now? I just know it's going to happen again. And maybe next time I'll be the one who dies in a horrible accident. [Music] I need a near regulator. Becoming endless is the only way. Even Queen Fiend said so. But how to get one? Maybe I can convince someone who's unsure to give me theirs. grieving citizen. You want to hear my story? While I appreciate you offering a sympathetic ear, there's not much to tell. If you must know, a good friend of mine died when those machines went crazy. His airwheer dropped right out of the sky, and he didn't survive the crash. Damn fool wasn't wearing a regulator. I know that's no that's not so strange these days, but he'd never bothered with one. He was at peace with the idea of dying someday. And I thought I understood what that meant until it happened. We used to forget people after they died. No memories, no grief. I'm not sure if we'd be better off if that was still the case. Light-hearted citizen, what has me in such a fine mood, you ask? Well, I've just receeded my new regulator. I was leerary of becoming nothing but memories at first, but now that I've gone through with the registration, I've never felt more at ease. Also, once it was done, the regulator displayed the current numbers. Of the 5,000 slots available, over 3,800 have already been filled. So, if you're still hesitant, you've not much time to make your mind up. Mark my words, friend. When there's only a few slots left, it's going to get very ugly. Cheered. Every a word. I feel like there was a new factor in these stories we've heard. One we hadn't considered during our discussion with everyone in the back room. What will you say? That people are still deathly afraid. that fights are likely to break out over the neo-regulators. That a victim of the violence wasn't wearing a regulator. Uh I think the middle one a fight's likely to break out maybe. Geode, the fact that nearly 4,000 people have registered is worthy of its own report, but are you sure that there wasn't anything else? Oh. Uh, that makes me think maybe it's this one. I don't know. Let's go with this one. Try to get all the options that a victim of the violence wasn't wearing a regulator. Oh, damn. That was the option. Chee. Yes, that's it. The vast majority of residents have always worn regulators, so it's not a detail we'd normally think about. With the supply of souls cut off though, more and more people have been going without them. We need to look into the casualties from the recent attacks and check whether or not they were equipped with regulators. Let's ask around on the street over to the east. It was pretty chaotic at the time, but maybe we'll find eyewitnesses who can help us confirm if this was a pattern or not. Light-hearted citizen, we'll be seeing fights over near regulators in the very near future. Should you get one, I suggest you register right away. Geode. Aside from Oblivion members, only a handful of people used to go out and about without regulators. Our times have changed. [Music] [Music] Okay. Discuss hover cargo. What hover cargo? This stuff. cheered. It was once my job to deliver goods by Hover Cargo. That's why I know a fair number of names and faces throughout the city. The little ones who'd jump for joy when I brought them packages. The old lady who'd always greet me with a smile. I'd hate for anything bad to happen to them. Ominous. Huh? Unarmed sentry. Hello. How are you today? Please let me know if I may be of service. Arms sentry. Citywide casualty data unavailable. Government officials are currently processing reports from all affected zones. Geode, can you narrow it down to the recreation zone then? You must have some estimates on hand. An armed sentry. Recalibrating parameters. Injured 87 individuals. Casualties 19 individuals. Casualties equipped with near reg. Oh no. Regularly casualties equipped with regulators zero. H please remain calm. I am under orders to ensure the safety of our citizens. In the unlikely event of another mass malfunction, I will act to subdue any affected machines. [Music] Interesting. So, none of them were wearing them. Unsettled sanitation worker. You wish to know if the people who died in the machine rampage were wearing regulators? I'm sorry, but I was assigned to clearing away debris. I didn't see any of the deceased. No bodies were present by the time I arrived, so I assumed the ushers had already done their work. I do remember there being patches of white dust scattered about that were quite a chore to clean up, but nothing else worthy of mention. Geode Everray, I think it's time we rejoin Kry and Spien. I was half joking with my boast to shale, but we may have stumbled upon something major here. We should share our findings and keep pursuing this avenue of inquiry. Didn't cry say to meet them in the plaza just outside of True View. Let's get going. Unsettled sanitation worker. It's terrifying to think that death might be waiting for us around every corner. But what can you do to keep working and hope But what can you do but keep working and hope for the best? Cheed. Come on. We should meet Crown and Spine at the plaza. Can't say I'm thrilled to have Shale owe me a drink over something like this. Huh. Yeah, we did see those powder, white powder dust piles at the end of patch 7.2 MSQ. Guy died and he just turned into dust. I was kind of curious about that. These fake citizens, is that what's going on? Creating fear and unrest by killing fake citizens. We've finished our patrol. Did it not seem that more people wanted near regulators than before? Yes. Create demand, control the supply. [Music] Just a sec. Cryle. So essentially, you're saying that the people who were killed by malfunctioning machines weren't wearing regulators. [Music] Cheered. Well, the numbers are still tentative and only applied to that one zone. We don't know how they'll stack up against the overall data, but this is definitely more than a coincidence. I think it's safe to say that anyone who had removed their regulator was a priority target. Fine. Now that you mention it, the person I was treating for injuries wasn't wearing one either. But why? Why are they being targeted over everyone else? Cryle based solely on the lack of a near regulator. We cannot judge if a person has no desire to become endless or if they simply failed to acquire one of the limited devices. But those who wear no regulator at all, they have clearly rejected the old system of using souls to revive themselves. Put another way, they have chosen to live their lives in the knowledge that death is an inevitability. spine. The chances that such resolute people would wish to become endless are far lower, I would imagine. And so, Kix has chosen those least likely to accept his vision as victims to stoke fear and panic, cheered. But there was no need to kill anyone. With the way things were, the people were already fearful enough. He could have found 5,000 willing citizens without all this madness. Kryle, you make a good point. Perhaps this sewing of terror is in service to another scheme. Or he had some other need for the lives he'd taken. What will you say? What of the dust found at various sites? Could something have been done to the victims? Yeah, the former. What about the dust? Yo, cheered right the sanitation worker story. She saw no bodies but mentioned piles of white dust. Dust, but no bodies. Now, where have I heard that before? Do you recall when we went to save Aaronville from the centuries in the outskirts that usher Malachite told us much the same thing? [Music] Malikite. When I arrived, I found no body, only a pile of dust which the wind quickly scattered. Confused, I questioned the residence, but none knew what had become of it. [Music] Spine that both stories speak of missing remains is suspicious enough, but the shared mention of this dust is too much to ignore. Cryle, in that case, we should confirm if this substance was present at other sites and attempt to ascertain its nature. Following this thread may lead us not only to an explanation for the missing bodies, but also the intent behind Kix's murderous actions. Mushy mushy, we need your help. I've lost control over the soldiers in the residential area. They might be trying to hurt people again. Oblivion members are on their way now, but are you close enough to join them? Sure. Dear Damn it. Our new investigation will have to wait. Let's go. What? [Music] Huh? God damn. [Music] Stay. Stay back. Stay away from me. Leave him alone. Oh yeah. Are you all right? What happened here? A century walked into my apartment. Even though I'd locked the door and everything, I managed to run. But the man who tried to save me. O, [Music] no weapons, which is to be expected considering all the centuries were meant to be disarmed. Yet it was ordered to attack all the same, even if that meant using its bare hands. I'll leave matters here to you. I'm going to do a sweep of the surrounding area. Roger that, sleepy boy. No need a regulator. Do you know anyone else in this sector who no longer wears a regulator? Uh oh. I don't think I've seen Isidora and her boy with theirs recently. God damn. Milos, come quickly. We must save Milos. Milos needs her daughter. Hey. Hey. Why? I'll be fine. But Isidora is in bad shape. Mother, please. Oh, damn man. Is it Adora? Heal her. [Music] Oh, thank goodness she wasn't struck anywhere vital. Nice. I'm sorry. If only I'd gotten here sooner. You did the best you could, man. Saved the boy. [Music] Milos, everything will be all right. I promise to make your mother better. [Music] Damn, he's finally realized. [Music] Thank you, miss. Will she sleep like that forever? No, not forever. She'll wake soon. I'm sure of it. That's good to hear. Thank you for saving her. [Music] Nice. The promise of tomorrow. [Music] A Cool music. Spine. She should recover in due course. I'm glad we arrived when we did. Same. Milos. When I was sick and couldn't move, my mother was always at my side, always keeping me company. And I'm going to do the same for her. Quay, forgive me. I was reckless. You shouldn't have had to waste time tending my wounds as well. Did you see our other comrade back there? He stayed behind in the lobby, but I heard the sounds of fighting. Sen, he I am sorry. Must have fallen protecting the residents. Mosquite. Here's some soup with mosqu in it. Gross. Yuck. Uh, skate ski. Let's um, eh, let's just get some of this Sell it. [Music] Spain. For their sakes, I have to remain calm. Milos. Same. Same. The endless choice. Waquay is fearful for her comrade. Waquay. Uh, there. Our comrade. You think he may have been struck down? If he is wounded or worse, I should go to him. Sween, wait. Please. It isn't safe and you still need rest. Would you stay with Milos and watch over Isidora for me? We will tend to your friend. I thank you. Please be careful yourself. [Music] WA Isidora and Milos had completed their applications to leave the dome and were practically at the door when all this happened. We'll make sure they are taken care of the moment Isidora is ready to travel. Milos. Same. Same. Wow. So many people. Hey, it's Mini. Me. Cool. Oh, he disappeared. He's so small. Everybody's doing the Ornstein cosplay now, man. I was the first. I swear. Spain. That man. He This is awful. Radius resident. Why? Why is this happening? I love this song. Cryle is going to be all right then. I'm so glad. I've just finished my administrations here. Our oblivion comrade was beyond saving, I'm afraid. [Music] Damn. [Music] that brave soul. He gave his life to save another radius president. He died protecting me. I don't understand why any of this is happening. That sentry was behaving normally like any other. Then all of a sudden it it tried to kill me. Cryle weapons or no. Kix commanded them to commit murder. [Music] Hopeful oblivion member. Is it over? We came as soon as Waquay sent word. Oh no, I am sorry. By the time we arrived, it was already too late. Anxious Oblivion member. Then Geode could be in trouble, too. Once we have this radius locked down, we need to find him. Sween. But why has something happened? What's this song? Is this new? Oo, anxious Oblivion member. Possibly. We're not sure what, but he stopped responding to our communications. Hopeful Oblivion member. We need to prioritize securing the residential sector, though, at least until we regain control over the centuries. [Music] Spine, then we should search for geode. Cryle, I agree. Since most Oblivion members have sworn off regulators, if our theory holds true, then they could be prime targets for the next attack. [Music] Please do what you can to shepherd the residents to safety, but avoid the sentries at all costs. [Music] Anxious Oblivion member. Our thanks. Here, take these communicators. Nice neck. We've made modifications to them to prevent Call from intercepting the signal and have been using them to coordinate movements with allies in the vicinity. Way has one too, so I'll ask her to keep hailing Geode. Hopeful Oblivion member. Good luck and stay safe. Cryle G said he would sweep the surrounding area, so he shouldn't have ventured too far. Let's get going. [Music] Anxious Oblivion member, leave matters here to us. We'll see to our fallen comrade and make sure no one else comes to harm. a hopeful Oblivion member. I hope you find Geode soon. I know he's probably saving people with one hand and fighting off threats with the other, but I can't help but worry. Radius resonance, pray, thank your Malala friend for me. I would still be a helpless mess if not for her encouragement. Middle. Where's Cryle? Sween, please, Geod, please be safe. You see no sign of Geode. Perhaps you should search further to the east. Okay, Cryle, let's search around the apartments first. Hang on. Let me fail this destination check first. You see no sign of Geode. Waquay's voice crackles forth from the communicator. Wquay. Geode. Geode, answer me. There is no response. Perhaps you should continue your search further to the east. Oh, all right then. See you, Crow. Uh, a lot of people here. This has to be the one. What? You see no sign of geode. The neighboring residential radius would be the next logical place to look. Of course. What's going on, man? This is the only place left. Let them be safe. Geode, are you there? Answer me, please. I'm here. Sorry for the long silence. I've been busy. You're alive. Thank the gods. Where are you now? He's drawing the enemy away. The radius next door. The lobby is secure. I'll scout the second floor. Then I'll join you. Uh-oh. What the hell? Man, Ghostbusters that dust. Dust? What are you talking about? What's happening? Damn, look at that depth field. They're not just collecting souls. They're draining the bodies of corporeal ether. The dust that we saw was all that was left of the victims. They must have modified the soul cells. Oh no. Ah Old man with no regulator. Whoa. He swore. Nice. Ah What? Who runs around with two bullets? Slowest reload of my life. Whoa. Uhoh. It's going to pick up the gun. You can't be here. You need to run now. Oh, baited. A trap. Oh, damn. They clever. Run, dude. Take care of the others. Hey. Oh, no. Damn, man. Some horror movie Nice NPC run. No sign of him so far. This way, maybe. A Is it just a pile of dust? [Music] Oh no. Gio. Oh, damn man. Damn, I look cool. A shame. I had hoped to leave here with at least one more cell's worth of ether, but seeing how eager you are to interfere, I shall cut this for short. Kix, what could you possibly stand to gain from these these atrocities? Oh, that's a good thumbnail right there. [Music] Ether sufficient to generate 5,000 endless. How would you acquire it? How would I? Until I have the key, the reflections are closed to me. Thus do I make do with the sources at hand. 7% of Alexandria's current population will yield the energy to convert 5,000 into endless. With 11%, operations could continue unabated for 800 years. Our bodies are fated to decay sooner or later. These ones refuse the gift of eternal life. So, what difference does it make if I return them to Ether now? Damn. Cold blooded. I will not waste time and resources on meaningless conflict. This unit cannot offer you worthwhile resistance. Instead, I pose a question. Would you hand over the key if I promised to halt my harvest? Nah, you would only seek other victims. Exactly. I will halt your harvest by defeating you. Now, let's go with the first. It was foolish of me to give an ask. Yes, it was. [Music] I return to my work then. There is much to do if I must take the key by force. [Music] Nice. Did it without even lifting a finger. God will [Music] cry. I can't. There are no words. [Music] It's been this pile of dust, these ashes, and the soul cell he left behind. Is that his twisted way of returning Geode to us? Damn you, Call. Damn you and your careless cruelty. He was our friend. Cryle. Even so, some might say every death was justified if it would meant 5,000 endless could continue their immortal lives. And if a reflection stolen ether allowed for many more endless, why, that too would be a noble sacrifice for the greater good. Who could think that? cry. Not I. Certainly not I. [Music] We know only too well there is not noble in this sacrifice. [Music] Fine. We have to stop him. We have to find Kellex and put an end to this madness as soon as possible. And under no circumstances can we let the key fall into his possession. Ever. It falls to us. We must. We will thwart his plans here in Alexandria before he can terrorize in innocents in reflections elsewhere. [Music] quest to complete. Cryo, I will hold on to Geod's gun. If you could take the soul cell, please. Dude, his gun's probably about as big as you are. My memories and yours. Though gripped by sadness, Sihen spurs herself to action. [Music] Sien, we should return to the back room. Sha and the others need to know what happened. Cryle. Yes, I'll ask to meet us there as well. [Music] Teleport me there. Yes. Oh, that's a lot of people. No. Here, have his ashes. I mean his soul. Oh, [Music] our dear geode. The soldiers. If only I'd been able to control them. This isn't your fault, Gulia. The blame lies with Call and with him alone. It's all so senseless. Why force his plans upon us when we're already happy living our lives? What does he even think life is? I'll never forgive Call for doing this or myself for being powerless to stop him. Oof. Wait, where are you going? To clear my head. Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid. Stay here and get some rest. I'll make sure nostalgia stays out of trouble. Thank you. She's like, "What the is this?" Things would have been far worse if you and Geodude hadn't rushed in there. Many people are still alive because of you. Yep. And after adding what you discovered to the leads we've dug up, I'm hopeful we can determine where Call is hiding. But not right now. Damn trembling lip. We need time before we can move on. Just a little time. Heard. Oh J. All right, side quest time. No worries. [Music] Rest in peace, brother. [Music] Hey, it's Arenville and Raha. Let's talk to Gennel first. Gennalt, they brought back Gio's gun. Its rounds were spent and its barrel was scorched, so you can be sure he went down fighting. Aaronville, I've spoken with Wlamat. They've cut their meeting short to deal with the aftermath of this latest violence. They ah you mean the three of them. I get it. You I assume you know better by now, but I hope you're not planning to try anything alone. We are all here to with you. I am told that the members tasked with keeping residents safe returned with the body of their comrade. They all risk so much. Raha. We made a swift patrol of the other levels and confirmed that Klex had carried out a number of targeted attacks. All to harvest more ether. It seems shale. Dot dot dot. Gulger. I got back control of the centuries. Probably around the same time Klex left. I'm sorry. I couldn't stop him. It's all right. Wait, another comrade gone. Some days it's almost more than I can bear. Gied was he was an older brother to Nostalgia and me. Sha knew him longer though and is surely taking it the hardest. And that's on top of what happened with Kafkiwa. Do you think you could check on her? See how she's doing? She's like to put up put on a brave face if it's me or my sister. Oh, we have Isidora and Milos on the guard. So, that's one less thing to worry about Shale. Apologies. My mind was elsewhere. We need to press on with the hunt for Klex, but I can't seem to focus. I should be better than this. I know. What will you say? Is there anything I can do? As you said, you need time to work through it. Um, I mean, that's true. Yeah, but I want to be more proactive. Is there anything I can do? Shale. You can't help yourself, can you? Still, I appreciate the concern. Kiwa used to say the best thing to do with grief was to let it all out. So, I think I'll take myself over to earn sky and say my goodbyes to Geode. Why don't you come along? I could use someone to blubber it to if you have a shoulder to spare. Yeah, sure. Right, then let's get out of Everkeep for a bit. [Music] Ooh, motorbikes. Let's go for a ride. Shale, it's a fair trek on foot, so I've arranged for a couple of airwheelers. They've had their communications modules removed, so even Callus shouldn't be able to seize control of them. Say the word and we'll set off. Oh yeah, let's do it. Ready? We'll be flying close to the pylons, so follow my lead. I'm sure it's going to fly by itself, right? Yeah. It's not flying. These airwheelers are general's babies. You won't find a smoother ride in all of Everep. Hell yeah. For years now, I've been taking one out for a turn whenever I needed to lighten the mood. To lighten my mood. Sometimes Jed would come along too and we'd end up racing. Does that surprise you? Our friendship always had a competitive edge. We would often talk about how one day we might fly our wheeler outside wheelers outside the dome. [Music] Almost there. Be sure the ground is clear before you touch down. Phew. That's helped clear my head a touch. You know, a you might be the first person I've ridden with who wasn't an Oblivion recruit. As far as I remember, at least. The memories from my regulator days aren't exactly reliable. Come on, let's head inside. Hopefully the way will be clear of pests today. They change her pants. [Music] Oh, shale. H just down luck. Oops. Shale. Thanks. We can usually avoid such encounters, but sometimes they wander in and block the only path. Not that it slowed you down at all. I've never seen you fight up close before, and the surveillance feed clearly didn't do it justice. Hopefully that keeps the route clear for a while. Shall we? [Music] Whenever we lost a comrade, the three of us would come back here to reminisce. Me, Geodode, and Kafkiwa. Will you raise a glass? Uh, what will you say to Geod's memory? I will in spirit. What? No. Do it, man. Oh, [Applause] what are the two of you doing here? Having a date? I had a feeling you'd show up. Would you like to join us? [Music] [Music] I suppose I could spare a moment. [Music] They tell us Oblivion's founders disappeared some decades ago under mysterious circumstances. And it was Kafkiwa who revived our organization. You and Gode helped her with that, didn't you? Tell us more about it. You're keen to know, too, right? What they were like back then. the mad things they got up to. That sort of thing. [Music] Those were the days. It was actually right before the reformation that I met Geode. I still wore a regulator then and had recently lost someone close to me and also quit a long stint as an adapter to work at a bar of all places. He paid me to sit with patrons and keep them company. Whoa. [Music] So, Geod came in one night. It wasn't long before we got into an argument. First time customer, but Tempest fled. And then one of us threw a punch. You got into a fist fight? What were you even arguing about? Damned if I know. We were deep in our cups. I think we were both just frustrated and angry at everything. By the end of it, we were both sprawled out in the street, pair of drunken fools. Then, as odd machines stopped to lecture us, scolding us for obstructing the foot traffic and not taking better care of ourselves. [Music] I can't imagine you ever being in such a sorry state. The odd machine. That was cuff kiwa, I take it. that it was. Once she was done upgrading us for our unseammly behavior, she launched into a recruitment pitch. Kuffkiwa explained that she wanted to protect the outside world from Zoralia's invasion to keep him from bringing ruin to the place her beloved son lived. And if we were so intent on self-destruction, then perhaps we might consider risking our hides for a just cause. It was a lot to take in. I hadn't given much thought to what lay beyond the barrier. And learning that Kafkiwa herself was already dead was enough to make my head spin. [Music] But Gio and I were intrigued by her ideas and wanted to see this future of hers come to pass. [Music] Geode often spoke of it. He told me that meeting Kafkiwa was what first taught him the value of remembering people like he was sharing a holy revelation. Oh, but back then you hadn't yet taken on Oblivion's name, had you? Is that so? I just assumed it hadn't been Kuffki's intention to carry on Oblivion's legacy, nor adopt the cause your parents championed. Not initially, at least. She wasn't even aware such an organized resistance existed. She did, however, suspect the presence of other dissident, those who objected to resurrecting the memories of the dead in defiance of the natural order. In the hopes of identifying like-minded comrades, we began searching the core system for traces of unauthorized access. And that's how we found it. an anomalous sector in the back of the neon Stein. According to melancholy, the door to that mystery had remained firmly shut since she took over the business. The back room. The back room. We forced our way in only to discover that the hideout had long been abandoned. Although the occupants were gone, the equipment they'd left behind contained records of a group calling itself Oblivion. After reading through their exploits and their vision for the future, we made the decision to carry on their work. Thus were my parents and Kuffki's hopes bound together and carried onward by Shale and Got. We could never have made it this far on our own. Of course, not without the strength of arms you and your friends provided. [Music] Losing comrades is a hard thing. But being here, thinking back on the moments we shared, I can see their smiles, hear their laughter. I feel their presence, and I know they're still with us. [Music] But these memories of mine are for me alone. Reminders of why I chose to do this and why I'll stay the course. [Music] Right time we got back to work. Thank you everyone. No, no, it's me who should be thanking you. Though the pain is still deep. I don't feel like I'm drowning in it anymore. Let's get out there and put a stop to Call for you, for me, and for everyone who's ever believed in Oblivion. [Music] [Music] Shale, I appreciate you helping me through this. And not only the grief, you've helped me see that my comrades mean even more to me than I realized, which only fuels my determination. I'll be spending every waking moment working to bring Kix to account for his crimes. I'll do my part, then you do yours. Oblivion needs you. [Music] Aha, we've got some lore. Codex. Codex. CEX. [Music] Oblivion, a resistance organization. and first established during the time of old Alexandria. Its founders were Kra's birth parents, Robor and Ela, can't remember how to say it, former members of preservation who opposed Kix's plan to invade other worlds. Once the then infant Cryle was targeted for experimentation, the researcher couple seized the key to interdimensional fusion and used it to deliver both the artifact and their child to the source to keep them safe from the enemy. They vanished from record thereafter with their endless incarnations later encountered in living memory. Deprived of their founders, Oblivion effectively ceased to be until decades later when its secret headquarters, now known as the backroom, was discovered by Kafkiwa and her followers. Although detailed information pertaining to the key has been erased, Kkiwa, strongly believing in Oblivion's purpose, reestablished the organization under its original name. With the Yaslani native at the helm, its members set out to thwart King of Resolve Zerala's ambitions for conquest. A darkness in the heart. Shale steals steals her heart for the work ahead. Shale, it's time I went back to locating Kix's lair. I have a new strategy in mind, but it remains to be seen if it will aid in narrowing down the possibilities. I'll ask Crow for help. I want to reexamine the data, starting with that of her parents. After all, they were the first to break away from preservation and establish an organiz resistance with Oblivion. There must be something in there that can point us in the right direction. What are your plans, Ever? Spine. Evray, is that you? Apologies for calling suddenly. I've been making the rounds in the outskirts, and I cannot help but feel as though something is a miss. Might I ask you to join me? Your perspective would be most appreciated. I can wait until you finished attending to Shale, of course. Shale, it seems your plans have been decided for you. Go on. I have others to speak with before I return to the back room. As long as the memories remain, this wound in my heart will never fully heal. But it might be better that way. To feel something, even pain, is to remember that they lived. And to know that I am still alive. I still can't believe it. I miss geode. It won't be the same without geode around. It's fiends in the outskirts, huh? Very ominous music ever, thank you for coming. As I mentioned, I would benefit from your worldly experience. Perhaps it is my imagination, but the town's people appear to be acting oddly. That is, even considering the current state of affairs. As I am yet unfamiliar with the outskirts, I thought you might be better equipped to judge if their behavior is unusual or not. Would you speak with them and see what you think? Though I hope to be proven wrong, I fear something is not right here. It's nothing so obvious as loud wailing as loud wailing or acts of violence. But while it would be best if you saw for yourself, man, this music is really unsettling. It's actually really good because yeah, sets the mood. Neo regulator equipped resident. You You're not wearing a regulator. Don't you know the end is coming? Well, it's your life to lose. Me? I got myself one of those near regulators and registered a little while ago. As soon as I did, a display appeared showing the number of registered users. Right now, it's sitting at 4,168. The upper limit was 5,000, wasn't it? Seems the total shot up right after those machined and malfunctions. It's only a matter of time before everyone's registered. I appe to those who weren't chosen, but I'm going to be an endless. I'm going to evolve and live happily ever after. I hope you come to your senses and get your hands on an ear regulator. Friend, ain't no friend of mine, man. trembling residents. Oh, please tell me you brought more near regulators. Officially, they've all been handed out already, but I've heard rumors there were a few left over. Surely the government still has some. Or perhaps Queen's Fiend. I may not look it, but I was a hunter once. Back then, I hardly gave death a second thought. But now that I know the truth, it's all I can think about. There has to be a way to hold on. There has to. I can't go on like this. Creepy. Who the hell is Hi, it's this guy Pepand. Greetings. I remember when you visited with Queen Fiend. Come to check on our well-being, have you? Well, I can say that things are rather stressful out here as well. Without knowing if or when our machinery might turn murderous, the spectre of death is ever present. People are terrified and the clamor for near regulators has reached a fever pitch. I personally was fortunate to have claimed a new device early on and have long since completed the registration. Death has no hold over me now. Now I must begin my prayers. The darkness draws closer, grows deeper, and we must cast it out. I must pray. H most peculiar. So what do you think? Was I right to worry? What will you say? Tensions are running high. Their fear is palpable. Yeah, their fear is palpable, man. Sween, yes, that is exactly it. The people are overwhelmed by uncertainty and fear, and with each new registration, that fear inside them grows more insistent. How long until it drives them into full-blown panic? Elise Evray, can you come to resolution? We have a problem. I'm already here with Lamachi and Alfa. No. Hey, I got to go. Sen, sounds like she wants us there in a hurry. We should go. Hey, she asked for me, man. Not you. What's happened? Sorry to drag you out here, but I thought it best you see for yourself. Death is your constant companion. Oh, here we go. Though you toil with diligence, death may come, heir, your reward is bestowed. Though your grand works be poised for completion, death may come, air you wake the following mourn. Though you enjoy a life of peace and good fortune, death needs but one instant to claim you. Your bodies are weak. Your heart, your brain, every fragile organ rolls the dice from moment to moment. Sheer chance deciding if they function or fail. Be you stoic or generous or righteous, no virtues tip the scales in that fatal reckoning. The choice is made without reason. The end is cloaked in terror. That is what it means to die. The announcement began after we finished our meeting with Gossen. As for its source, well, Klex, no There is no shame in being afraid. It is that very fear which will drive you to conquer death. Let us set a new course for mankind. Let us preserve our existence unto perpetuity. Hope for it, wish for it, pray for it. We will become endless. Man, this is all starting to ring very similar to Asens again. With evolution's brilliance will we banish the everpresent darkness of mortality. Change isn't easy. No one ever wants to take the first step. Nice mustache. But this this is the right path for us. What other way could there be? I'm going to do it. I'm going to register. I'm going to do it. Do not come. Vlamat. You couldn't have come at a better time. Please, you have to let us move to Truly Yalal. It's too dangerous to stay here. And who knows when the next century will turn on us. Even if we wanted to become endless, there are no more neo-regulators to be had. Fleeing is our only option. If the solution was as simple as leaving, then we'd all have left already. Did you not hear the announcement? For the living, death is a foregone conclusion. No matter where we go or who we shelter with, we won't get another chance like this to overcome our fate. Easy for you to say when you have that regulator. Just take it from him. The Landscar are on their way as we speak and arrangements have been made to see that you all will be safely evacuated. Tuliola will aid you in whatever way we can. [Music] So please remain calm. [Music] I want to help Alexandria. I want to save its people. But what can I do? [Music] I am not their queen. [Music] H. [Music] All right, Alfao, my boy. First those deadly malfunctions and now a citywide announcement. He has spent considerable effort recruiting his 5,000 Endless, perhaps more than necessary even. Alice, we had the hopefuls who descended on Lamachi disperse for now. We could see tempers in the crowd were starting to fray. This latest wave of attacks may not have been as widespread, but people are reaching their breaking point. We have to stop Kellix and soon, I'm sorry I couldn't be there in time. Crow told me everything that happened while we were away. Gossen, my apologies. The sign is not responding to any of our attempts to change the display or switch it off. Klex has access to the core system, which means that if he chose to do so, he could deploy the soldiers beyond the barrier. Even if our people learn to live with death and decide to leave the dome behind, they will not be beyond his reach. Yet, if it serves to allay their fears even a little, I beg you, Wlamat, please let them shelter into the Holal. Wuklamat, we will welcome any and all who want to come. We've already begun evacuations and we'll be able to pick up the pace once the Lansgard arrives. Alfo, in which case, we had best spread out and keep an eye on the crowds. The mood is tense and we must prepare for the possible violence. Alise, if you happen to determine where Galaxy is hiding, though, we'll be ready to move in a moment's notice. Surely, we'll find a clue of some kind soon. He can't elude us forever. [Music] violence and fear. This is not the future she envisioned for her nation. [Music] Sen, you give so much of yourselves to aid those in need. I must endeavor to find my own small way to help. preservation. Their purpose assesses her surroundings with grim determination. Tulal would gladly welcome every last Alexandrian with open arms. But what of the nation the late queen was so desperate to preserve? What of that bright haven of peace and laughter? [Music] I won't stand here and let her legacy be sullied any further. I will protect Alexandria. That was the promise I made her at the last. Fine. But she betrayed you, did she not? Why do you feel this obligation? I saw myself in her. I suppose we both felt the people's joy as our own. Yet alone, we lacked the strength to protect them. Did I skip one? No. There is so much that I love in this world. Too much for me to take in my arms to keep. and take my arms and keep safe. And that made me afraid. I wanted I needed someone who shared that love and fear so together we could do what we couldn't by ourselves. Or maybe it's simpler than that. [Music] Maybe I just wish that we could have been friends. [Music] So when she turned to me in her final hour, desperate to safeguard Alexandria's future, I swore that I would see it done. Sien, in the end, I think you both found the friend you needed. Look, I would be yours as well, whenever you fall or struggle to rise, I'll come running to the rescue. And you do the same for me. That's how we'll protect the things we love. That's how we'll protect Alexandria. Sen, you're right. You're right. What will you say? And don't forget about me, bro. Bit late for that. The whole freaking expansion has forgotten about me. I'll just say dot dot dot. I ain't no Don't forget about me. Right. Uh, we got a bit sidetracked there. We should probably be on our own. Huh? Uh, we should probably be on our way. Do we patrol or see if Shell needs a hand? Gulja. There you all are. [Music] Look them up. Gulja. Cryle. Ah, splendid. We were afraid we'd miss you. Alise and the others said you were here. Shale. Good news. Ever. We finally found a in Callus's armor. We discovered laboratories on Everkeep's 10th level that once housed a preservation initiative. Containment complex 10-29 it's called. And it's been falsely registered as a distribution center. In reality, it hasn't recorded any traffic in decades. Cryle, we don't think this is where Callus is hiding as such, but it may well contain clues that will point us in the right direction. Shale, I'm sorry it took so long just to get this far. If you're interested, what do you say we all go and check it out together? Sen, thank you for all your hard work. This is a huge step forward. Good old J and up. We need to take the lift to get to the complex. Shale, I've cleared this expedition with the relevant authorities and have one of our people waiting to operate said lift. Let's not keep her waiting. Damn, everyone turned in unison. [Music] [Music] Oh, he has the lift. [Music] Kryle, an institute on preservation scale would have had many such facilities in the city. Yet I cannot help but wonder if this one is where my parents worked. Spine preservation laboratories. I shuddered to think at what they were researching. But this is no time to be squeamish. Kulja Sha made me her assistant. She was teaching me the basics of data management. Sounds like Gulja played a big part in this breakthrough. I'll be sure to treat him to a fine feast once this is all over. Shale, I'll share the method we used to find the containment complex once we're inside. It wasn't actually all that different to the story of how we stumbled across the back room. Fifth attendant, ready to head up? Head on up. Next stop, the 10th level. Yeah, sure. What? Internet cafe, but no computers. [Music] So, this is one of Preservation's laboratories. It's so dark I can barely see. You're catman. Just a moment. If I can reroute the power to the circuit. You got the lights working. smell how stale the air is. This room hasn't been in use for many years. It was thanks to Cryle and Gulia that we managed to locate this place. [Music] You may remember that my earring contained the control code for the gate to the golden city. As it was preservation that constructed the portal, we reasoned that the code to operate it might include a signature of some sort unique to their organization. So, I took a closer look, and a line by line examination yielded a string of symbols identifying the code's author. We then began accessing the nodes for every door in Everep, seeking out control codes which contained those same symbols. After a grueling search, we finally discovered our prize behind door number 1860, the entrance to the facility in which we now stand. I'd probably still be at it if Gulia hadn't been around to assist me. I took breaks, but Shale never stopped working. Not even once. Oh, good work, little fella. Uh, what we say? You're a treasure, Shale. Cringed. Sounds like you need one of energy tonics. Yeah, let's go with that. Hell yeah. Those concoctions would probably do me more harm than good, but I appreciate the sentiment. I ain't going to call you a treasure. In any case, this next part will require your helping hands. We need to spread out and search for something that may lead us to Kix. We're more than happy to help, of course. But I wonder, won't he realize we've found this place? [Music] It's highly likely. And personally, I hope he does. [Music] That's some good music. Oh, man. Come on, Shale. You all know our main objective. We're here to pick up Galaxy's Trail, and I've learned of a certain device that should help us do just that. I'll explain how as we proceed, but according to the information I was able to dredge up, the device in question should have been installed in the director's office. [Music] Now, as for where that might be, yes, this map matches my data. This room we're in is the researcher's commons, located in the western side of the complex. The director's office is to the northeast of here. Spine. So, we should cut across this circular chamber in the middle. Yes. shale. Yes, we should. But unfortunately for us, the interior door is locked. We'll need a security key with the appropriate clearance to open it. Judging by the mechanism, it'll probably be a card of some kind. Can't you, you know, work some electro magic? Shale. I'll try my best. This type of lock is well before my time. It may take a while to crack it. And in case I can't, you might want to look around and see if anyone left the security guard behind. Cryle, considering the state of the place, it does seem like they abandoned it in some haste. I shouldn't be surprised if we find one. If we found one. Very well. Let's get to searching, shall we? [Music] I expect we'll have the most luck looking where the researchers kept their personal belongings. Mhm. You begin searching containment complex 10 through 29. Close cooperation will be necessary to overcome the obstacles barring your path forward. Helpful hints will appear in a different color. Pay close attention to the information provided by your comrades should you find yourself unable to proceed. Wow, a puzzle. [Music] Mhm. Interesting. Uh, let's start here. Uklamat. No luck so far. This bin had nothing in it at all. Nice. Good work. Going for the bins. Uh, I think I'll talk with all the NPCs first. Shale. Gh. The arcane circuits in use here are decades old. I'll keep at it, but a security guard card might be the only way we're getting past this lock anytime soon. Cryle. Perhaps the researchers kept their personal belongings at their workstations. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Wait. Glow. Speaking right into my crotch. Was this really a preservation laboratory? I thought there'd be something more. I don't know special about it. These shelves are almost entirely bare, but I'll examine the files to be certain. All right, let's start with the recycling bin over here. You scan the bin's interior, hoping to find some card- shaped rubbish, but it appears to be empty. Spine. Nothing in there then. I'm not even sure where people keep their personal belongings in this day and age. Don't you keep them in the bin? That's where I keep my personal belongings. All right. It's probably this one. So, we want to go for it last. Or it could be that one. Let's check the notice board. I mean, there's potential it could be here. A few indecipherable notes remain pins of this notice board, but nothing that resembles his security card. data terminal. The terminal screen displays what appears to be the index page of an employee manual. Oh, Laura, personnel protocols. Personnel protocols. For security reasons, containment complex 10329 has been registered as a materials distribution center. Keep this in mind and conduct yourself accordingly both inside and outside the facility. Each employee must perform their tasks within their designated workrooms. The researchers commons, the proto lab, or the duturo lab. Entrance into another workroom without official clearance is strictly prohibited. Carry your security card at all times. Your clearance level dictates the areas to which you have access. Equip your regulator at all times. Due to the highly confidential nature of the research materials and other data managed within this complex, preservation retains the ownership of and the rights to modify memories of all registered personnel. Research objectives access denied. Please log in with your personnel account to view. Leadership personnel complex director Demetrius Protolab chief EOS4 lab chief redacted. Huh. Weird. Uh, let's go with abandoned paperwork. A few documents sit in an untidy stack at top the desk. You find no security cards hidden among them. Desk organizer. Oh, that could be it. Let's go with half open desk drawers first. See a card in there. Uh, hard stuff. This appears to be the only desk with the drawers already open. You can tell at a glance that the desk's former owner has left some things behind. No. No. That's probably where it is. Desk organizer. This small shelving unit holds some office supplies and little else of note. Cool. All right, that's everything. All right, we're ruffling through. You discover a card- shaped object. The electro surface is marked with a bold level one cry. Oh, could that be what we're looking for? Try it on the door and see if it opens. That looks like it could be a security guard. Let's see if it works. Sween. Yeah. Yep. All right. Before I do that, let me see if this thing works. Research objectives. What? Come on, man. I have a card. [Music] Scanning device. A scanning device. The card- shaped object you hold looks to be of a similar size to the scanner panel. Card- shaped object. a card-shaped object fashioned from electrode. You hold the card- shaped object up to the scanner clos. It's open. You did it every Yeah, I did. Shell. And a good thing, too. I was getting nowhere with that outdated circuit. Cryle, I am curious though. Why would they abandon a facility like this? Well, it was run by a director, Demetrius, or so that terminal there told me. Spain, perhaps there are more answers to be had once we venture further inside. shale. Then let's continue onwards. The door to the director's office is across the central hub. Maybe now. Oh, okay. Keep your secrets then. [Music] Am I going to have to visit the other places first? Oh, yeah. It's locked. Oh, so it's that way. All right, we'll deal with this first cuz I'm sure it's going to make me go to the other ways. Anyway, looks like every room can be accessed from this hub. Yes, that's why it's a hub. Gulia, this must be the door to the director's office. Go on, try the card. It's not going to work. Cryle, not a single soul here besides us. Sween going by the room's labels on the map. On that map, we haven't entered any of the actual labs yet. Shale. Another locked door. We could try the same card again, but yeah, I know it's not going to work either. You hold the level one security card up, but the scanner beats in disapproval. Gulja. No good. Maybe we need a different card. Shale. Yes. The scanner is demanding a level three security clearance to open the lock. As much as the delay chase me, we'll just have to comb through the nearby rooms and hope we stumble upon the card we need. Let's start our Let's start our search in the proto lab. That door is already open at least. It's fine. We'll find a way through together. Shale. I'm sure of it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [Music] Huh. Direct office. [Music] Shale, please excuse my impatience. The means to track down Kix are close, and I'm itching to get my hands on them. [Music] Gulja. I dug through this data tablet and found a journal. I'll read it to you. The results of experiment 158 show a marked improvement in ether extraction rates. At last, we have achieved the target value set by Master Kellix. Though I will become endless as per our ascendancy protocols, I will preserve this historic number along with my few remaining worldly effects. Preserve the number. All right. What was the number? 158. I cry. This machine feeds into a soul cell. I am reminded of my imprisonment by the Empire. Surely this device wasn't made to hold people. And these notes seem to be about the research they did in here. Let's take a look. Experiment 148. Submitting inference candidate 201930 to be considered for efficiency procedure review. Uh-huh. Experiment 158 maximum value of 11509 recorded comparative study to be included in the reports. All right then. Oh, and one more. Experiment 163. New proposal produced a result of 9834. Decreased value verified. Well, I have no idea what any of that means. Maybe it will make sense later on. Yeah, probably. Data tablet. It appears to be a researcher's personal data tablet. Skim through the entries. Yes. Journal entry number one. Today I began my employment at preservation. The organization was unfamiliar to me, but when the recruitment letter arrived, I had a gut feeling that this work would be far more fulfilling than any un than any orthodox medical practice. My instincts were correct. Oh, this is journal entry number two. My instincts were correct. Master Callix's philosophy is the refined ideal of notions I've only ever vaguely entertained. that mankind must evolve beyond the shackles of its flesh and blood existence. Journal entry number four. Number three is missing. I had a meeting with Director Demetrius today. I've heard others praise his genius intellect. Yet he seems but a guttering candle in comparison to Master Callus's blinding brilliance. Journal entry number nine. This morning, I was permitted to access the top floor and observe the workings of living memory. As predicted, the shortage of ether required to sustain the endless is reaching critical levels. Yet, Queen Spien insists on continuing her ineffectual flailing. Journal entry number 14. Our Malala colleagues, including the protolab chief, have been behaving in a decidedly suspicious manner of late. Should I report my concerns to the director? Journal entry number 18. From tomorrow, I have been assigned to assist with a research project in the Duturo lab. We are scheduled to conduct a major experiment, the details of which I have been kept ignorant. It would seem prudent to back up my memory data. You have reached the end of the journal entries. Hen, the way this room is set up, the canister inserted into that large device looks to be a soul cell. Could this be where they conducted their experiments to create endless? Ah, but we could probably spend days investigating this complex. Finding a way into the director's office must take precedence. Speaking of which, Galja mentioned a locker over in the corner that he couldn't open. Perhaps you could take a look. It all looks so complicated. I shall have to ask Shale to teach me how to use these machines. Yeah, weird looking machine. All right. The locker door is shut tight, but the number pad suggests that inputting the correct combination will open it. You have gleaned some numerical data during your investigation. Attempt to enter the combination. Man, you won't even make me remember the number. Ah, okay. It's going to Whoa. Select the numbers on the pad to input a combination. Enter up to five digits, then press the confirm key, bra. All right. Well, this looks like a zero to me. I guess that's one. Oh, it shows when you highlight. Cool. Uh, what was it? 158. Let's try that first. You have entered 158 on the number pad. Could this be the right combination? Oh, the combination you entered is incorrect. Perhaps speaking with your comrades might yield some useful numerical hints. Uh, no. Let me just check my history. Uh, well, we need five digits and this is that. So, oh, it's also experiment 158. So, that lines up. 11509. Let's go with that. That's probably it. There we go. Wow. How convenient. The locker pops open. Inside you discover a level two security guard. Card, not guard. Book them out. Ever. You got the locker open. Good old John. And you found another security card. Oh, but does that say level two? We needed a level three, didn't we? Shale. Yes, but it should still open more doors for us to explore. You did well, Everray. Yeah, Mukla. These preservation members led such surprisingly normal lives. Leaving notes, losing their cards. I guess I imagine they'd be more, what's the word? Bloodless. Mechanical. Cryle. My parents were once part of preservation, if you'll recall. It would seem the researchers who agreed with Kix and his philosophy underwent the conversion to endless entities. But I assume those who could not or would not eventually left the organization altogether. Good old J. Oh, and I almost forgot. The researchers kept journals in their data tablets. The one I read doesn't explain much, but something big happened in the complex, and afterwards it was decided that everyone would become endless. The writer was really happy about this. You can tell how much they admired Call and his work. The entries ended after that, but maybe you can read more in the other tablet there. [Music] Right. Let's move this investigation to another room. Shale. Well, we have the Duturro lab and the maintenance facilities to left to search. Both are accessed via the southeast corridor Gulia. So, it's back to the hub and the locked doors across the way. Shale, which will hopefully yield before our new security guard card. I'll take the old one if you like. I doubt we'll have any more use for it. [Music] Here you go. [Music] Is he suggesting I interact with this? I already did. Nah, Cryle. If there were others besides my parents who left preservation, where might they be now? Dead. Sween, it seems not everyone who joined preservation became endless right away. There must have been research that required physical bodies. Shale, the scanner awaits. Hold the security card up to the panel and it should unlock the door. Wuklat. Call hasn't bothered to show his face yet. I see. Maybe he hasn't noticed us. Or maybe he's just watching and waiting. Gloja, what else do they have in this place? If I read that map right, it must be a lot smaller than the UA Yada facility. Scanning device. A scanning device. It awaits. It waits silently for a security guard with the appropriate level of clearance. Level two. Ah, I was reading that. Uh, probably says the same thing as the last one. Sween, it opened. Oh, yes, it opened. Shale. So, where should we go first? The duturo lab or facilities? Good old J H. Let's start with the lab. You got a king. [Music] That way's already open. Let me have a quick peek. All right, I'm coming back. [Music] What is it? Gulja cry. Shouldn't the security guard open this door as easily as the last one? Sien, how strange. This door is not lit up like the others. Shale. H. What does this sign say? Nothing legible. [Music] Gila shale. There doesn't seem to be any power here. Shale. No, none at all. It's possible the energy supply for this room is on a separate conduit, which means there should be a contingency for opening the door. Look here. There's a sign above the card scanner. In case of emergency, backup power can be rerouted from facilities. The facilities room is down the other branch of this corridor. Let's see about getting the power restored to the Tuturo lab, shall we? Our path has been decided for us. Gloal or Kryle. The dutur lab must have required greater amounts of energy to operate. What kind of experiments were they conducting in there? Oh, you don't want to know. Gel. Oh, good. The terminal is lit up. That means we have power in this room. Yeah, we do. W them up. Those are some big flashy floor tiles. I wonder what they're for. Perfect groove. It's fine. So, this room was for managing the power supply and utilities. I hope they kept security guards cards in here as well. Man, I can't stop saying security guards instead of cards. Weird. [Music] Shale engaging power supply. No good. It's returning an error. There must be a preliminary procedure. According to this error code reference, if the power supply has been interrupted for an extended period of time, then we need to reconfigure both the emergency generator and the circuit control panels. Gula shale. That's the emergency generator over there, isn't it? Shale. Yes. And by the looks of it, it's the same model as the one used in Heritage Found. But how does it send power to the other lab? Ch. Ah, I see. The energy cable attached to the base of this terminal leads down the wall directly to the detour lab. Which means we need a way to connect the generator to that cable or puzzle. What about these patterns on the floor? Could this be the circuit we need to reconfigure? Shale, I believe you have the right of it. Using the control panel set into each of the tiles, we create an unbroken path for the power to follow. Sween, what I wouldn't give for an instruction manual. Shale, indeed. If you could look around for any written procedures, I'll keep digging through the terminals directories. Might I also ask someone to operate the generator? Golia, I can do it. I've used that type of machine before. Cryle, then would you be willing to try and reconfigure the circuit path, Everray? The rest of us can help by supplying Everray with whatever information might be found on the circuitry configuration. Resident Evil style. Yeah, puzzles. Shale. I've locked in the power supply route and adjusted the current for optimal flow. Everything should be ready for when you've reconfigured the circuit. Spine. I was able to glimpse parts of a warning sign behind the containers. From what I could make out, it said, "Caution, circuit will not function with duplicate patterns." I suppose that means only one of each circuitry pattern can be set at the same time. Yeah, that makes sense. Gorge, the generator doesn't seem to need any fancy settings. As long as it's running and the circuit is fixed, we should have a power supply ready to go. Not ever. Take a look at this diagram. There's a note in the bottom left about backup power. Configure the four circuit panels. Uh the four circuit control panels to provide an uninterrupted path. These symbols must represent the room we're in. Okay. Diamond circle something square. Uh, if that square in the top left is Shale's terminal, then the bottom right should be the generator that Gulja is working on. Brilliant. H, it's hard to make out the rest. Assuming these are our four tile patterns. The bottom right is a square and the top right is half a circle. That's something to get you started. At least, please. That's basically the entire answer. Crime. These appear to be data logs from a former age. My scholarly interest is peaked by a few of the labels, but none are relevant to the task at hand. I've also had no luck locating more security cards. We shall have to rely upon our backup power strategy, I'm afraid. No problemmo. All right. What was the pattern again? Probably don't even need to. I could probably just look, but for the sake of saving time square something diamond circle square thingy. Oh, she's got new text. Oh, no. It's the same text as before. All right. Uh square bottom right circle. Diamond circle something square. Diamond circle something square diamond something circle square diamond something circle square diamond. Huh? You must arrange the four tile patterns in the correct positions. Access the control panels and configure the circuitry diamond circle something square. So the only last one is triangle. Right? You have connected all the circuits. Inform your comrades of the successful reconfiguration. Wait, no, I wanted to. All right, it worked. Hold on. Did Wilma actually say anything new? No, she didn't. Good job. It worked. Spine, we did it. Ever. I did it. Shale. The Zuro lab should now be fully powered. Well done, everyone. Cryle, if I may, Shale, could we access a certain data log before moving on? I was checking the storage shelves and one of the labels caught my eye. Preservation, the early days is the title. shale. Of course, it'll only take a moment to bring up the comments. [Music] Ah, it looks to be a textbased account. I'll read it out. Preservation, an Alexandrian Institute for Technological Development, was founded by Kellix, an 11-year-old child prodigy. Approval for establishing the organization came during Alexandria's involvement in the storm surge with Kix's designs for new defensive solutions funded in large part by the Treasury. [Music] As the conflict grew in intensity and casualties mounted, Kix funneled preservation's resources towards the perfection of memory storage. Search into this field continued even after the storm surge came to an end with Klex eventually electing to preserve his own memories in a virtual domain. Cryle. So this account is from before he embraced his endless existence. Hundreds of years ago, Spine, I met him only once before the storm surge began. I was descending my father, who was then the reigning king of Alexandria. Klex could not have been more than 10 years of age and required constant treatment for his debilitating illness. Yet still, he published theories so highly regarded that even the royal family was aware of his achievements. Life should not be lost to the injustice of death. Even now, I can hear the single-minded will behind his words. So, it was that when war came to our kingdom, my father was quick to commit his unwavering support to this somber youth and his proposals for preservation. Several years later, the ensuing violence brought the death of both my parents. Overwhelmed as I was by my sudden su succession to the throne, I suspect they spared me the reports on endless research and other less urgent matters. Gulja, so you had no way of knowing what kind of person Call was changing into. Did he change? I wonder. Perhaps he has ever been the type to value ideals over compassion. and I failed to see it at the time. Or perhaps he did change, but is still driven by those same deeply held beliefs that mortality is cruel and unjust and his role is to deliver mankind from this fate. Whatever the case may be, we cannot allow him to shape our future. Let's press on, shall we? [Music] Shale. If I've done my job correctly, the door to the Duturro lab should be accessible now. I'll give everything a once over just to be sure. Very good. Cryle. Had his own body not been fated to fail him so young, would Klex have pursued his endless project with such fervor? Probably not. Wlamat. Everything we read in this place sings Kix's praises. The people who worked here must have truly idolized him. that Alexandria survived the war was in no small part thanks to the to the defensive measures developed by preservation. In that regard, I shall always be grateful. Galla, yes, the door has power now. Shale, the energy current seems stable enough. Still, you should let me handle this one. The security card, if you please. Oh, and a quick prayer that a shorted wire doesn't burn me from the inside out. All right. [Music] [Music] A calculated evolution. Shale is examining the card scanner. Shale. Right. I'll get this door open. [Music] Ph. Smooth as silk. Let's head inside and see what awaits. [Music] Cut scene. Hell yeah. H. No voice acting. Cryle. God's above. Isn't that H the key? The key to interdimensional fusion shell. That looks to be a schematic on the monitor. Want. And they've used it to make another key. But isn't it missing the shard inside like the one ever has? Cryle. Ah. We may have been laboring under a misconception. The key was originally a Malala relic. Once this treasure came into its possession, preservation began working to harness the power to cross dimensions. Aside from the crystal, we can see that all the vessel's components were constructed here. So, what might that tell us? What will you say? The crystal itself is the key. This is just a device they made to control it. Yeah, makes sense to me. [Music] Cryle, that would be the logical conclusion. Yes, it is. As my parents explained, the key remains shrouded in mystery. preservation augmented it with electrop but never grasped the technologies underlying principles. To this day, not a single person understands the mechanics of interdimensional fusion. Not who imbued the key with its power. Not when they did so, nor why. Now it makes sense. Kix can track the key because its vessel was made by preservation. Cryle, I believe there is much we may learn in this room. On our next visit, I will have to enlist Ishtala's assistance for a thorough investigation. Spine, I too am curious about a great many things, but pinning down Kix's whereabouts is our priority. Hopefully, there is a security card here that grants access to the director's office. shale. The research conducted in this lab appears to have been highly confidential in nature. Some of the personnel must have belonged to the organization's upper echelons, and that means higher security clearance. We should spread out and look for any cards they left behind. Remember, anything less than a level three is no good to us. Man, they really went out with this little uh puzzle room thing. I kind of enjoy it, but I think most people probably wouldn't. Good little job. Why were they making so many vessels? Did the other ones not work properly? Yeah, I'll search through these drawers. One of us is bound to find something. I'm sure of it. Maybe someone left a card on a shelf somewhere. Cryle, I keep holding out hope that I'll find some evidence of my parents here despite knowing there is none. How could you know that, Shale? Oh, actually, yeah, they said they got rid of all their data, I think. Uh, Shale, if those cameras are anything to go by, this lab was under constant surveillance. I'll scan the recordings and try to spot where people left their security cards. Maybe we'll get lucky. All right, where is it least likely to be? storage crate. This lone storage crate is filled with document binders and other miscellaneous objects, none of which are security cards. Very good. Uh, wheeled shelving unit. This sturdy looking shelving unit holds a storage crate and sealed barrels. No sign of any security cards. And last but not least, cabinet drawer. You find a security card in the cabinet drawer. Cryle. Oh, did you just find a security card? Well, that's a stroke of luck. Let's have Sha examine it to be sure. Shale. Well, well, if it isn't exactly what we needed. Nice work, Everray. Why did anyone have to hand it in? Gorge. Oh, a level three. That should get us into the director's office. So, what was it you were hoping to find in there again? Shale, you were saying that a certain device was going to help us. Shale. Right. I haven't properly explained myself, have I? I'm looking for a data relay. After we discovered this ostensibly abandoned complex, I performed a cursory investigation which detected a connection to an outside network. When I traced the data's routing, I confirmed traffic traffic from a web of in Everep's security cameras. Considering the way Calllex is always one step ahead of us, we must assume he's quietly seized control of the city's surveillance system and has been using it to monitor our activities, to monitor what you as the keyholder are planning. But since Klex is the ultimate recipient of those transmissions, the flow of data is like a river that we can follow back to him. which is why I need the data relay. If I can analyze the device and see where it's rerouting all this surveillance traffic, then you can pinpoint's position. Shale, that said, he has done nothing to impede our progress, which makes me think I might be on entirely the wrong track. But maybe the reason he isn't stopping us is because he can't. Back in the old castle, Klex said he was measuring Everett's strength. What can he possibly dream up that's stronger than him? Shale. Oh, speaking of cameras, there was another thing I meant to mention. I found evidence that someone deliberately disabled the surveillance feed in this room. The most recent recording was also crudely deleted. I was able to restore the data though if you'd like to see it. Yeah, sure. I'll start the show then. Someone had sex in the office. [Applause] Are you really planning to leave? [Applause] Yes. The idea of eternal life, it's begun to frighten me. I struggle to renounce our conventional wisdom. Death is the means by which life prunes its branches, leaving the trunk to grow strong and tall. We die so that our species may flourish. What would become of mankind were we to halt that process? If unending stagnation is the fruit of our labor, then perhaps we strive for the wrong thing. Your argument is a rejection of Master Call's vision. Cool clothing. I suppose it is. Perhaps such dread would not plague me were I capable of sharing his perspective on the subject. But I cannot. He and I are too different in too many ways. I lack his extraordinary genius. I had no illness threatening to cut my life short. No singularity of will to cut away all distractions and focus solely upon research. [Applause] I have nothing but respect for his determination, the way he overcame his prognosis and seized the means to transcend death itself. But I'm not convinced that this obsession with living is the right path. That's why I've decided to leave preservation and put all my effort towards building a legacy for the next generation to come. Surely you god damn boy. Protocol. You understand? Thank there can be no exceptions. How could you? I can hear it. It's Thanred's voice actor. [Applause] Damn, man. Protocol, huh? Oh, come on, man. You got to voice this, bro. Sweet. She only wanted to leave and he executed her. Shale. I checked the images against the personnel data, and the man who pulled the trigger was Director Demetrius himself. Everything I could find on him pointed to a deep infatuation with Master Call. The cameras in this room have been out of operation ever since that incident. Given that the recording was erased, I can only assume he was trying to conceal his grizzly deed from the other researchers. Cryle. I am not surprised given how my parents described their defection from the institute. They spoke of rushing me through a portal even as preservation's agents closed in on them. I dared not ask what became of them after that. But if it turns out they were captured by their pursuers, best not to think on it. Uh, what would you say? I'm sure they managed to escape. They did not regret their actions. Yeah, you give her false hope. As if I would cry, right? The echo. Knowing you saw them as they were, your words give me great comfort. Sine. Oh, Cryle Cry. Worry not, Spine. Thanks to the haven of living memory, I was at last, no, I was at least able to meet my parents and learn what they stood for. It is enough for me to carry on. Shale, even now we don't know how the conflict unfolded between your parents and preservation. But what we do know is that your mother and father cleverly expuned every last trace of their movements. They made sure no one could come across could cross into the source or threaten their child's safety. Cryle. Right, let's press on, shall we? This tale behind the key deserves a fitting conclusion. Good old job. To the director's office. Hell yeah. [Music] Man, why did that guy have a gun? He's just the researchers carry guns these days. Well, those days crime. I don't expect to find any information on my parents in this room in this next room either. And that's something I can be proud of. Now, that seems like convenient writing to me. Sen was Call the one who gave orders to execute the factors. The more we learn about him, the less I understand. Shale. My early investigations put the data relay just past this door. Let's get it open, shall we? Looks Hearing Cryle talk about her parents reminded me of how much I miss Namika. I guess I'll never really get over it. Good old J. If that man in the recording was the Mirector Demetrius, then this must be his office. Well done, little boy. The scanning device. It waits silently for a security card with the appropriate level of clearance. Level three security card. A card- shaped key for opening restricted doors. This one is marked with a level three security clearance. You hold the level three security card up to the scanner. There we go. Let's head inside. Shale. Now to find that data relay. And don't be shy, everyone. Speak up if anything odd catches your eye. Ever. Come with me. I might have need of that security card. All right. Spine. This is a report on reducing people to ether and how much energy can be harnessed per individual. Grimly, what are you doing in the corner? Cryle. H. Oh, my apologies. I was thinking about the key. Huh. His direct director Demetrius was very particular about how he decorated his office. We've got incense and vases and some kind of gem display. Aha. The turquoise is missing. Good job. Something odd. Something odd. Shale. Damn. This terminal isn't connected to any outside networks, so it can't be the data relay I'm looking for. This office is also smaller than the map suggested. Secret room. I'm positive we're in the right room. What am I missing? Sorry, could I ask you and the others to search for search the office for any clues to this infuriating puzzle? [Music] Let me know if you find anything. I'll double and triple check my work for mistakes. All right. Huh? Crap. Something is strange about this wall. I could have sworn it flickered for a moment there. Seems solid enough now. Elusory wall ahead. Yes, we're on to you. Ooh, beverage station. Sh says this room is too small. How could that be? H. Does this display do anything else? Yes. Gar. These drawers have only big heavy books in them. I would have filled them with snacks. Oh, but maybe the books are hiding something. I'll check. Good boy. Snacks to go with the beverages. Hell yeah. Beverage station. Having lain dormant for years, the now active coffee maker has already entered a self-cleaning cycle. It appears to have no other purpose beyond brewing coffee. Though it remains to be seen when it will be able to do so once more. Why not right now, man? Soul cell storage case of shelves. You find a crumpled note wedged between the file binders. Crumpled scrap of paper. Secure room lift access. Requires passwords to be input simultaneously at terminals in the proto lab, the duturo lab, and the director's office. Huh. Interesting. Secure room lift access. Perhaps this discovery would be of interest to Shale. Yeah. Hold on. Soul Cell storage case. The collection of soul cells may have once belonged to the director. They appear to be empty. Cluttered side table. Ah, amongst other personal effects, you find what is presumably the director's data tablet. A closed locker stands next to the table. Ooh. Escape cut scene. Oh. Uh, it said it's closed, right? Closed locker. Yeah. All right. I examine the data tablet. You pick up the data tablet and begin skimming through the contents. Which section will you read? Daily reports. Shutdown protocols. Daily reports. General daily report. Nothing of note. The mystery of the keys activation condition remains unsolved. The key triggered an explosion today. Temporary interdimensional portal verified. continue attempts to stabilize the core's energy reactions. 13 researchers sustained fatal injuries in the explosion. Memory faculties of four personnel sufficiently intact for endless conversion. Remaining nine designated for ether reclamation processing. Nothing of note. Rejected resignations of two Malala researchers. Oh, major incident details in full report. draft document. Those two inept Malala broke with preservation and absconded with the key. Though the fugitives have since been caught and eliminated, we were too late to recover the relic. God damn. The only reason we retained our flesh was to serve Master Call as physical instruments to conduct his experiments. Deprived of the object of our research, our existence serves no further purpose. I dare not imagine the depths of his disappointment in me. The complex is to be shut down. All personnel will have their bodies reduced to ether, which will be allocated for further experimentation. Memory data will be archived. Any endless conversions will be subject to Master Kix's discretion. If he does not deem us fit, then we are not deserving of eternal life. Uh, let's read shutdown protocols. All personnel have undergone processing. Once the shutdown protocols have been completed, I will proceed with my own corporeal dissolution. As long as the key remains in the physical world, we must keep this complex in pristine condition. Whether it be needed for experiments or otherwise, it must be ready to support future operations in whatever capacity Master Callix requires. To that end, facility equipment will be maintained in stasis mode. Furthermore, a critical component for secure room access will be stored separately to defend against unauthorized entry. [Music] Is it the gem and the crumpled notes of shale? Not yet. You have located director Demetrius's personal data tablet and locker space. Take another look. Yeah, let me look at the locker. Open the locker. I can open it. The door to the locker swings open easily. Whoa. Jesus. Jesus Christ. What the It contains nothing of note. You quietly shut the locker door. Wow. Cool. That's just a jump scare. Yeah. Let me look again, man. Is he going to do the the noise again? Whoa. Surprised there's not hot glue all over him, if you know what I mean. What a freak. That many photos, dude. He's supposed to be a child. Or he was back then, man. Pedto. Uh, crumpled note. All right, here you go. Shale, have you found something? Crumpled note. Hastily scribbled reminder found in the director's office shelving. [Music] Sh. Thank you. A misplaced note, was it? with instructions for accessing a secure room, no less. Seems we need to enter a password on three different terminals at the same time. Spine, there was no such room marked on the map, was there? Shale, no. A precautionary measure, no doubt. And if passwords are involved, I expect the access lift itself is concealed, too. Cryle concealed by electrobe you mean? Ah, could it be that wall? I thought it seemed odd when I walked past Gulja. Remember what Kiwa used to say, Shale? Never trust an electrop surface. As you say, uh, what would you say? Electrop isn't always what it appears to be. You can pass right through Electrop. You can illusory wall. Uh, do I know that? Let's go with the first one. It's mean. Oh, of course. Electrop is how you alter the look of all of Solutions. Solution 9's floors and walls, isn't it? shale. In which case, it shouldn't be too hard to disable. [Music] Haha. Gorge. Another door. Shale. I've managed to deactivate the projection, but the lock is another story. Wlamat, didn't that note lay out the password protocol? I say we go ahead and try it. Sien, I agree. Two people should prepare the lab terminals for inputs while the rest of us look for passwords here in the office. I'll take the proto lab. Then I'll take the tool lab. Actually, it might be better if you stayed, your knowledge of Alexandria and its people could be needed here, yes, you're right. If the passwords are hiding behind clues, that may be something I can help with. Good little Joe, I can help, too. I've lived my whole life in Alexandria, after all. Cryle, I will take the I will take the tour lab duty. Then we can keep in touch via communicator to match our timing. Shay, you shall have the honor of entering the office password. Once we've determined what we need to input, take your place at this terminal. I'll stand by to guide Wlamat and Cryle through the process. woke them up. You know, there was that display plate over there, the one with the gems. I thought since it was made of electrop, it might have some other purpose, but I couldn't find any switches or buttons to make it do anything. Maybe you can figure it out. The square peg goes in the square hole. Well, I guess it's a rectangle. Well, not really. It's probably even a more complicated shape. Yeah, it's like multiple sides. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight sides. Wow. Uh, a shale, keep calm and everything will be fine. Both of you are quick studies. Good old J. I kept searching the drawers with the books and found a cube puzzle made of electrode. It pro. It's probably just a toy, but maybe. What will you have Gilcha do? Solve the puzzle. Yeah, solve the puzzle, but nothing for now. I I'll come back. All right, then. Let me know if you end up needing it, though. Yeah, it's probably going to have the uh dual display, but I don't want you to do it just yet. Uh, I've already done that. It's fine. I should take a closer look at these reports. One of them might have hints for the passwords. All right, let me go talk to these guys. Got to get every bit of flavor text. It's how we do here. Wasn't this one of the rooms? No, this is facilities. Uh, what was that? The tour lab. Yeah, this is one. This is Cryle, right? Yeah, Cryle. Understood. Chale. But first, I need to find a stool or mayhap a sturdy box. Oh, she's too small. So, I just press this and next is that one, right? Hey, this isn't so hard. Well done. All right, let's have a look at this. Two jewels are embedded in this electro plate. You identify the blue gem as a sapphire and the red gem as a garnet. There also appears to be an empty slot for another jewel to fill. All right, do your thing. Gar. Uh, yeah. Solve the puzzle. You got it. Need some help. Let's see. If I move this bit, then connect this circuit to that one. There. Huh. There was something inside. Oh, it's a pretty green stone. I think it might be Alexandrite. They say these gems were so treasured in the past that they named the kingdom after them. Here, you should hold on to this one just in case. Someone must have hidden that Alexandri. Someone must have hidden that Alexandri in the puzzle. I'll see if there's any other interesting things I can find. All right, maybe I try and fail this before I put it in. Uh, director's terminal. You have yet to discover enough clues to deduce the passwords. Try exploring the immediate area and conferring with your comrades until you have more information. All right, I guess it won't let me fail. Insert the Alexanderite into the empty slots. Yes. Ooh, what the hell is that? The gemstones fit snugly into place. Almost immediately afterwards, the glowing lines of a diagram appeared on the display accompanied by a short phrase. Right. So, this is a layout of the map. Uh, could this represent a decorative pattern, an arcane circuit, a floor plan of this complex? Yeah. As you continue studying the display, you realize that these shapes correspond to the rooms of the complex in which you now stand. This may be related to the passwords you were looking for. All right. This is the director's office. This slot contains an Alexander. Its place in the floor plan corresponds to the director's office. Yeah. Oh, this lock contains a sapphire. Its place in the floor plan corresponds to the protolab and the garnet corresponds to the detur lab. Right. What's this say? Glowing words appear to be handwritten gel. Yes, I knew that jaw would come in handy. Let me see. Heed the stones. This must be about the special meanings Alexandrians have for gems. It's an older belief, I think, where each type of gem means something different. I bet if you ask Sien, she could tell you more about it. After all, even her name comes from a gemstone. True. Aren't you clever? All right, Sen. Yes. If you have any questions, you need only ask. The symbolism of Alexandrite. Well, I was taught that Alexandri represents the concept of protection. It is incidentally also the origin of Alexandria's name. Oh, are you thinking this has something to do with the passwords? Yes. A sapphire and garnet as well, you say? Yes. They all have meanings. Alexandri, as I said, is protection. Sapphire represents honesty, honesty, and garnet symbolizes devotion. We should try these words at the terminals and see if they're accepted. I certainly hope we're right. One more time to be sure. Alexandria represents protection, sapphire honesty, and garnet devotion. [Music] Uh, yeah, but what order were they? I I think I remember. You have gathered enough information to attempt entering the passwords. Sh. We're all set to go here. Bulamat and Cryle are just waiting on their passwords. Let's start with Wlamat in the proto lab. What word should she enter? Ah All right. Alexandria is protection. Uh let me just read the log. Sapphire represents honesty. Sapphire was uh uh Garnet is red, right? Sapphire is blue, I think. Yeah. So, that should be Proto Lab was north. That should be um Sapphire. Sapphire. Sapphire. Sapphire. Honesty. and the password for crow in the tutorial lampotion. And lastly, what will we input for the director's office? Protection shale. Right, we have all three passwords ready. Now to enter them into the system at the same time. I was kind of curious to see what happens if you fail. Oh well, yes. Oh, I'm so glad that worked. Shale, that secure room is the only place we've yet to search. If the data relay is anywhere, it has to be there. We'll venture in as soon as Wlamat and Cryle rejoin us. [Music] We did it. Thanks to you and a little bit thanks to me, I hope. Yeah, man. You did it. Want great work, Everray. Leave it to you to divine passwords from an ornamental display. Speaking of gemstone symbology, for Alexandrians, Sihen holds the meaning of eternal light. When my parents named me, it was with their wish that I became that I become an unwavering beacon of hope for our people. To think on it now I have ever shared that destiny with my other self. Cryle. Well, that went well. Excellent clue finding, every Thanks, Shale. All right, everyone. Time to board the lift and see what awaits us. Is it dungeon time? Oh, I guess it'll give us directions to the dungeon. This terminal doesn't look special to me, but this is definitely what we're after. It is. But whether or not it will suffice for our purposes is another question. [Music] The endless are created using the memories of the deceased. But as memories are in essence collections of data, the resultant entities have no physical form. These data entities, as we might call them, have only two methods for interacting with the material world. One of these we saw in living memory, where the endless are granted temporary bodies through the use of corporeal ether. They become much like solid ghosts that one can see and touch. The other method which Kuffki employed is the remote operation of a machine. But where do you suppose the endless are to be found when not inhabiting a physical body? The endless are memories. And if memories are data, then What will you say? Inside Electro somewhere in a world formed of data. Huh? I don't know, man. A USB stick. Let's go. Let's just go with the first one. An electro somewhere. I don't know. Probably a answer. Yes. We suspect they reside in a virtual domain. One contained entirely within an electrobased machine. We've seen such a realm before after all. [Music] Oh, you mean like the Alexandria made from the endless fiend's memories? They all seem so real. So, this virtual domain, it would also be housed within the Messo terminal. But how? I thought we shut down all the terminals in living memory. You did, and Kuffki was program performed just as she intended. The Messo terminal itself was deactivated, as evidenced by the failure of the device, which was keeping Sphen's body in stasis. Be that as it may, we face a master of electro engineering. That he managed to partition and protect the sector harboring his own memories is well within the bounds of possibility. M let us say that the Messo terminal does indeed contain a second domain and that Kix himself resides there. This city on the other hand exists here in the source. That being the case, I thought perhaps we could prevent his remote interference by closing the gate to the Golden City and thus severing the connection between worlds. Except I tried to close it once already when I visited living memory. The process required administrative authorization, a restriction I assumed at the time had been imposed by the queen. But now you think Klex might be responsible. Just as I suspected. Even now, security transmissions from throughout the keep are being tapped by the core system and rooted elsewhere. Almost every single one has you as its focus. He's keeping track of the keyholders movements. Stalker, time's up. And what a waste of time it's been. hoping to find me by tracing security data. That will not be necessary. Could have told us sooner, man. Through a not inconsiderable effort, I've taken your measure and prepared a force sufficient to subdue you. Come, I invite you to the upper reaches of the Meso terminal. The storage device which holds my memories is there. Break the memory bank and victory is yours. I in turn will seek to rest the key from you with any and every means at my disposal. And if we refuse this invitation, I will wait and continue to convert Alexandrians into endless. Consider the urgency of the situation and make the wiser choice. Answer me one question, Call. The endless fiend. When she was queen, you had her face an impossible task that manipulated her into using the key when she was at her most desperate. If you can do all that, then why not whisk it away when her plans went to ruin? Why let it fall into our hands? before salting the wound. That disaster was a miscalculation on my part. As her end drew near, Sien and her restructured memories had become one with the terminal's control systems. In that singular place, in that singular moment, she wielded an authority greater than mine. Thus, she was able to shield you, the neighboring sovereign to whom she entrusted her nation's future, and the hero to whom she entrusted that priceless key. I am unsure to what degree she perceived my presence, but she knew that someone was watching. Does that satisfy your curiosity? [Music] It does. And I'm satisfied that you will take nothing more from this nation. Not one more life, not one more future, not one single smile from another child's face. You hear me? Sorry for losing my temper, but there's only one way we can deal with people like Kix. Whatever grand future he envisions, someone will be made to pay the price. And I won't let that happen. What will you say? I'm with you. Let's plan our next move. He's wrong if he thinks he's taking our measure. Yeah. What are you crying about? If I may, I realize it is not my place to say this. Even so, I must thank you both. On behalf of my other self, allow me to say how grateful I am to have you as our champions. [Music] We're back. Cool job. Phew. Well, that was an adventure. Mlma. It may not have been by the method Shale was hoping for, but at least now we know where to find Kix and what we need to do next. Cryle. Indeed. While I remain curious about Preservation's research into the key, that is an investigation for another day. Shale. Then let's head straight to the back room. We should get everyone on the same page before we make our move. [Music] Hey again. Don't you be letting up now. You here. Let your passion carry you to the bitter end. Thanks. Very encouraging words. Cryle, I've passed on the short version of events to our comrades so that we can all prepare for the challenge ahead. It was my other self who entrusted you with the key. Though she could not change who she was, the consequences of her final choice linger, empowering us to shape our own future. Good old jaw. Shale has been out of sorts ever since we got back. I don't think she liked what Kak said. But don't worry, I'll do my best to cheer her up. Nice. Look, it's simple to put an end to this. Wait, what? Why did I say simple? Whoa, weird. Uh, it's time to put an end to this. Call won't stop until we stop him. Where the hell did I get the word simple from? Weird dyslexia kicking in overdrive. Aaronville, the situation isn't the best out there, but at least you've come back to us safe and sound. Sh. Damn that bastard, Call. He waited until I was this close before snatching away my moment of triumph. And that infuriating, condescending way he spoke to us. We'll see whose time is up. You smug little weasel. Anyway, I know things didn't go to plan, but we learned a great deal about preservation. That knowledge could come in handy in the days to come. Though I may not be able to contribute much to a direct confrontation, I mean to see this through with you all, providing whatever support I can. [Music] It's a shame that punching an endless does no damage. I'd love to rearrange that serene face of his. Yeah, I know, right? All right, it's all the same. One of our own. Sien is resolved to take part in the coming battle. Ever. We've briefed Aronville on everything that has happened and sent word to the others. We've now but to consider what our next actions will be. Call has offered you the opportunity to confront him directly. And though it feels much like striding face first into an ambush, we have little choice. If we are to destroy the memories he supposedly has stored in the upper reaches of the mezo terminal, then that is where we must go. Shale, while I'm still upset at being deprived of my moment, I nevertheless did my due diligence. I can confirm that the relay we found was indeed transmitting surveillance data to a device somewhere in living memory. When you go to fight Kellix, pray let me fight alongside you. Let me fight for the memory of Otus and Zelenia and for the other spine I may have become. But most importantly for my beloved kingdom and a joyful tomorrow. What will you say? It has always been your fight as much as ours if not more. Of course, but no reckless heroics. If things take a grim turn, I'll keep you safe. The first one. It's always been your fight as much as ours, if not more. Si, thank you for understanding what this means to me. Wlamat, I'll be coming with you as well. You know my reasons. Cryle, it hardly needs saying, but your fellow Scions also have every intention of accompanying you into battle. So adamant were Alise and the others on this point that they have already left for living memory. I am more than ready to do the same. Sure, why not? Just don't take my uptime spots like you always do. Arenville, I'll keep patrolling the streets for signs of trouble, especially from anyone wearing near regulators. Shale, should you need anything from me, I'll be on standby here in the back room. Gavula, I really want to go with you, too, but I know I can't. I know that sometimes you have to be patient and trust in your friends. Oh, Ever KL and I think that we should talk to Gossson before we leave for living memory. Under Kix's direction, preservation has helped shape Alexandria's society for centuries. Taking him down will have serious consequences, and we need to warn the officials in charge about what we intend. Justifications aside, we shall be acting against the wishes of all who desire to become endless. Wukma, exactly. We don't know if Gozen will approve or oppose our chosen course, but either way, leaving without a word is the wrong thing to do. Come. We should be on our way. Resolution first. Yes. Koja, be safe, everyone. We'll see you when it's over. [Music] Okay, Gar, I'll do whatever I can to help Shale and Aaronville. It may not be much, but small things add up when you do enough of them. Aaronville. Even people from my village have taken to wearing near regulators. I can only hope it doesn't end badly. Shale. As I said, I'll be ready and waiting if and when you have need of me. Just make sure you come back in one piece. One piece. Government sector. Huh. All right. [Music] [Music] [Music] Ulamats. I see Gossson's wearing a near regulator. He'll have some thoughts to share on the subject, I'll wager. Cryle, the air is thick with a sense of unease, not least around Gossen himself. Spine government officials must be fielding demands from all quarters. I do not envy Gossen his position. I can't hold it anymore. I got to go to the bathroom. I'll be back in two minutes. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Okay. [Music] I see a difficult situation. In the absence of an official sovereign, I agree that it is not preservation's place to dictate the future of our nation. [Music] However, I also cannot simply take a side and declare my support for your efforts to defeat Kix. [Music] Is that because of the new regulator you wear? [Music] I've yet to register it. I find myself caught between the fear of dying and the desire to carry out the duties of governance. My greatest concern is how we shall stem this everinccreasing terror of mortality when becoming endless is no longer an option. [Music] And that's to say nothing of the recent slaughter committed by our own soldiers. The fact that such violence was perpetrated for the very purpose of creating endless will paradoxically make it more difficult to endorse your chosen cause. It may not seem logical, but for those who lost friends and family in the attacks, halting the creation process altogether would render the deaths of their loved ones utterly meaningless. Is it not cruel to rob them of what little solace they could claim when we have only just learned what it is to mourn? Tell me, how are we meant to overcome such tragedies? We stop begging others to teach us for a start. Who said that? Hey, it's Malachi. [Music] For the longest time, we've been protected by Queen Spien and the systems put in place by our forebears. The hardships and responsibilities of life were distant things, and we felt entitled to our comforts, even as we barely noticed those who risked everything to keep us sheltered. [Music] But no more. From now on, we need to learn on our own [Music] how to live with the promise of death, how to endure the pain of loss. We may never learn to love such things, but we may learn to survive them. The people beyond the barrier, even the Alexandrians of old, they've all had to live with these fears. There's no reason we can't do it, too. Yeah, man. What are you all doing here? Malachi called us in and the Oblivion members briefed us on the current crisis. Mahua, you don't stand idly by while your house burns down. We came together and thought about how we could help. Long story short, we've decided to join the fight alongside Oblivion. Hey, isn't this chick blind? She's the NPC I'm thinking of. Maybe she's not. I think that's her, though. I think she's blind. I say fight, but we're well aware of how little use we'd be in actual combat. Hey, this guy's an ex-Acadian fighter. He's retired. A battle of ideas, on the other hand, now that we might be qualified to do something about. We'll talk to our neighbors and do our best to quell their fears, convince them to make the most of this life, and enjoy all it has to offer. Perhaps that will help to ease your burden. It certainly will. Even if a few are assuaged by your words, it will make things easier. [Music] Double pop off. Those who have already registered will be difficult to sway. But there are still many who waver. Those are the ones we'll concentrate on. Gossen, if you truly care for the people of Alexandria, then now's the time to start thinking of ways to prevent more deaths. Were I to become endless at the expense of my countrymen's lives, I would regret it for the rest of my existence. True. that. [Music] Forgive my weakness. When the people have lost their way, it falls to the government to support and guide them. Alexandria can rise above this sorrow and find its way forward. once more. [Music] Is that not so, your majesty? [Music] Indeed it is. Why is everyone so shocked? No, he knows. That wasn't um what I meant to say was calm down. You used her name. The geek is up. Mean the jig. The perfect resemblance to our beloved queen has not escaped our notice. Yet, we also understand that you are not her. Having to live in secret, unable to share who you really are, that must have been hard on you. Ooh, that's a nice thumbnail. [Music] When you come back, please tell us all about yourself. I imagine yours is a rather outlandish story, but we're eager to hear it all the same. You're one of us, an Alexandrian, and we don't abandon our own. [Music] Oh [Music] I promise to return. [Music] And when I do, I look forward to speaking with you all. [Music] [Music] Mlamat Sien must be overjoyed to be so welcomed by her countrymen. For their sakes, we need to bring her back safely. [Music] Gossson, it is a relief to be freed from my indecision. Until I had my Until I had removed my regulator, I hadn't realized quite how heavy it weighed upon me. Cryle, I'm glad we were able to hear the will of the Alexandrian people. Now it falls to us to see the rest of it through. Who the hell is this? Hello? Remember me? said Strea, the hunter from the thunderyards. It's been a while, but we met when you first arrived in the dome. Yeah, I remember you. We've been talking with L with Lethander and the others, and thanks to some very convincing arguments, we've come around to the idea that we need to start taking responsibility for the future of our nation. There are those like us who rely on regulators for their work and others who aren't quite ready to give up what they have. But we all share a desire to make things better. Cool. Yeah. She told me how the regulators work cuz she got her ass whooped. Sween. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Alexandrians are as ever a stalwart people. How glad I am to be home. Wlamat. Thank you, Gossen. That decision must have been difficult to make. Cosen, if only I could claim the courage to do so came from within. The final push came from Alexandria's citizens and their bravery in taking the first step towards change. Ulamat, speaking of which, can I ask you to look uh to lock that NEO regulator away where no one can get to it? That should prevent the registrations from reaching the target number. Cosen, I should be glad to do so, but I fear it would be to no avail. According to our most recent surveys, the number of near regulators in circulation exceeds the stated 5,000. Of course, it does. It's all a ploy, man. I surmise the surplus units are to account for those like myself who have had a change of heart or are un or are otherwise hesitant to register. Blelat. Ah, that does sound like something Khal would do. Well, we'll have to face him either way. So, no point in delaying the inevitable. On to living memory. Things seem much the same. [Music] Oh. So listen, you have nothing more to fear than any other normal day. Deep breaths. We'll get through this. [Music] Is this lagging? Oh, I didn't realize I was playing the stream in the background. Oops. Close that. There. Uh, let me just so it's the same. All right. [Music] You'd be telling them much the same if you were here. I suppose it falls to me now. Kiwa. Yeah, I guess so. subtle. Actually, I kind of doubt it, but I want to see if I can find them. the NPCs over in True View. [Music] Yeah, I think they were like standing on this corner. Yeah, didn't think so. [Music] the sad music. Hey, Alpha. Alpha, it is good to rejoin you all. I needed to step away briefly that I might make arrangements for a certain precautionary measure. Huh? What does that mean? Cryle. Coming here reminds me of my parents. Of the courage they gave me. Kum. Coming here uh makes me sad. This music is sad. Raha. We've all been so busy. It seems an age since last we gathered in such a manner. I must say we do make for a formidable group. Yeah, man. Bleams. Seems Alfao and Al were the ones to explain to Connor our need to enter the cenote. He urged us to be extremely careful. Of course, I had scarcely awakened here when I fell unconscious. Now that I can fully enjoy the gentle silence of this place, it brings tears to my eyes. Alise, last time I had to wait in the cenote, but there's nothing to stop me from joining this fight. [Music] Ah, it is good to see our comrades hail and girded for battle. As for us, we've been ahead to inspect the lay of the land. There were no changes of note aside from within the meo terminal itself. Why? What's happened to the mezzo terminal? The wall has receded to provide a convenient entrance into the structures interior. There was no such ingress when last we were here. So, we must assume that Call has since manipulated the terminal's electroe. All to facilitate his most gracious invitations invitation to the upper levels. an invitation I am eager to accept. For the sake of all who love Alexandria, I will not yield nor leave them to despair. Ooh. All right. [Music] A terminal invitation. Ishtolah would proceed to the mezo terminal. I believe everyone determined to be here is present and accounted for. Shall we make our way to the terminal? We wouldn't wish to keep our insistent host waiting. [Music] [Music] Man, I haven't been to this area in long time. [Music] Alphao an endless existence for the evolution of mankind. I understand what he strives for, but not what drives him to do so with such ruthlessness. Cryle. It hadn't occurred to me that one might physically enter the terminal, although I suppose it makes sense when you think about it. A structure for creating Endless would have required maintenance administered by corporeal hands. Raa. When we shut down all the minor terminals, we watched as the endless faded away. I do not believe that was a performance staged to deceive us. As for the MEO terminal, however, it had already grown dark by the time we had returned from the virtual domain. While I am loathed to admit it, it is possible its true appearance was hidden from us in our absence. Which is why we must bring this tale to its denment by our own hand. Never heard that word before. Denument. Dumo. According to uh Firefox, I mean Google. Dumo. Dumo. Dumo. Interesting. The final parts of a play, film, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved. Like a finale, the outcome of a situation when something is decided or made clear. Cool. Deno, new word. I like it. Very on par for Raha. I remember little of my awakening. The paralysis yet lingered and my eyes could barely focus. Living memory is steeped in the dense lightning ether of the ninth. This pervasive energy must be what the terminal utilizes as a power source. Alice. So this is where the former queen's memories were stored and she herself tried to erase them. Even as the endless, her resolve was so strong that she would kill her heart to become the cold machine she believed she needed to be [Music] Wlamat. Well, here we are again, facing another battle to decide Alexandria's fate. Spain, for four centuries, I slept here. Upon awakening, I found the world as I knew it had changed. I was so frightened at first. I couldn't recognize a single thing and thought everything I loved had gone to dust. Yet beneath the unfamiliar surface, much remained the same. [Music] For that, I give thanks to Otus and Zelenia and their royal knights who lay their lives on the line to defend our way of life. I thank every Alexandrian who believed in our future and passed on our legacy. I thank my other self who so loved this kingdom of ours. And I thank you all for kindling this hope in my heart. His courage to take up arms and fight once more. Nice speech. So let us make our stand together and fight for what we hold dear. Endless [Music] Fiend. The kind and gentle Queen Spien was too weak to serve her people, and so she will serve them no more. Freed from conscience, I shall become a ruler that can protect Alexandria, a devourer of worlds. [Music] What will you say? Together we stand, together we fight. We will rise to the challenge that the endless could not. Um, let's just go with this cheesy one. Together we stand. Together we fight. You have my gratitude. And surely Otus and Zelenia will join us in spirit. Well, let's head inside and finish this. Cry. In the upper reaches of this terminal, hang on, this too loud. In the upper reaches of this terminal awaits the device which holds Kix's memories. It falls to us to make the climb and destroy it once and for all. Raha. I We must bring matters to a definitive end. Will not suffer him to cause Alexandria further harm, nor claim the key. The queen entrusted it to Evy for good reason. And besides, it would be a tragedy indeed to relinquish a relic so with so much research potential. Alice, apparently, Kix thinks he's taken your measure. I urge you to correct that misguided assumption. Alfano, I wholeheartedly concur. Yet would still counsel caution that he would be so bold as to extend us an invitation besp speaks tremendous confidence in his preparations. Spine, come friends. We set forth into the midst of dreaming endless. Oh, is it going to be like a dungeon into a a uh trial like they did last time or one time? Maybe it's just straight away trial. I don't know. Uh let's go right to left. Alpha. No. We have no idea what Call may have planned for us. Alise and I have prepared for every eventual eventuality. Yet still, nay, you must be free to lead our charge unhindered by doubt. As you press onwards, we shall guard the flanks. Cool. Cry. If my parents were indeed executed by preservation, for me, this will not only be a fight for the greater good, this will be justice. If I'm to add an addendum to grandfather's account for the of the golden city, then let it be a rousing good one, eh? Raha, it is beyond knowing how Kellix has advanced his plans for endless conversion for the past 400 years. I do know, however, that pursuing an objective for lengthy spans requires an unyielding wheel, especially when that objective entails changing the world as we know it. Call is a foe possessed of both considerable focus and resolve. We would do well to recognize him as such. Cleats. [Music] As the Valve resolve or even as just a comrade, I see myself making a lot of promises. I mean to honor every last one of them. Starting with an oath I swore to the endless spine. Even if it's just a memory, I want to think of her smiling at that promise kept. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The Alexandria of today has seen countless lives come and go. My other self took their grief and fear and rage upon herself in service to our kingdom. Around me are gathered those willing to give their all to fulfill the promise they made to her. How can I do any less? Alexandrians must be free to believe that more than sadness awaits them. That tomorrow can be better than today. Ishtolah's scheme to forfeit flesh to gain immortality calls to mind the Aah. Not that informing him of their fate would do much to dissuade him. Convinced though you may be of this truth. It is yours and not mine. And no conclusion of yours, no matter how grim, can dampen my desire. Such was my reply to the heir's warnings. So I know a little something of refusing to listen, save when confronted with incontrovertible proof of my error. Damn, I love she badass. How does [Music] I really do think you take on too much from too many people and yet it's never the wrong choice. The queen gave you the key for a reason. So, I'll be damned if I let Kell steal it. Alice always got my back. She's a real one. All right, let's see. Okay, so it is a dungeon. All right. I too can fight. Zoemancer. Zo Zmancer. Oh, yeah. I get all the gear from this anyway, right? So, I don't need to roll against these guys. I was going to do it as tank cuz I need this gear for fruit. Let's get to it. Let's get to it. I stand ever ready. Ever ready. It would be a pleasure as always. I too can fight. I won't let you down. I too can fight. I won't let you down. Let's give it our all. Victory will be ours. Victory will be ours. All right. Uh, get out of SP. I too can fight. She's new. Yo, and get out my boy Alpha. No, it would be a pleasure as always. Oh, man. Can't bring a stolah. Oh, I can't bring her either unless I tank. I don't want to tank, man. Dungeon will take forever. Uh, all right. Ra, I stand ever ready. Sorry, Alisa. Oh, wait. I have to read it. Where is it? Do I have access to it yet? Should, right? Yeah, there it is. Man, how is this still too loud? This song is freaking loud. All right, the Meo Terminal. The lights of living memory no longer shine, and the Meso terminal at its center stands silent amidst the wistful echoes of lives once lived. A monument to the existence of the Alexandrian people, as well as a resting place for their memories. It is within this soaring spire that Kellix maintains his stronghold. The self-proclaimed architect of mankind's evolution has invited you to confront him in the upper reaches of the terminal. An invitation you must accept lest his atrocities continue to escalate. Step into the structures glowing interior and begin your weary ascent through the midst of the dreaming endless. Cool. Onwards. Ooh. Heat. Heat. [Music] Cool music. Ah, you've come. I'll begin by wearing you down. This is a different floor to where I was in stasis. [Music] Crank this down. All right, Rah, get ready. We're doing water wall. We mustn't hold back. Yeah, he's telling the governor. Man, they made her an archanist. That's crazy. She's not even a summoner. I thought they would have made her a healer. They said she was going to prioritize healing magics. Prioritize. Yeah, right. Whoa, who did that chunk of damage? Nice. We got some lore. Wow. Data station. What is preservation's purpose? The answer to that question is simple. To ensure the survival of mankind in a world beset by lightning aspected imbalance. This means securing a place where people may live in safety as well as establishing a treatment for the leavenven sickness which plagues us. Many approaches were considered, but in the end, it was a child, a youth of undeniable genius, who discovered the most brilliant and complete solution to all the challenges we now face. Call, I've created new endless for you. Not all are warriors, but they will follow orders. Kill and survive, and so forth. Here I shall prepare the stage for battle. This is the Alexandria of my time. Hey, did it change back here? I wish I was looking forward when that effect happened. I was looking backwards. Oh, pretty sure it showed that effect in the uh trailer, the expansion. I mean the uh patch. Medics won't let you harm our charges. You have to go through me. Come on. Get over here. All right, I'll do the work. Hey, come here. [Music] Oh, that hit pretty hard. You'll not escape this. What? I don't want to die. Don't let me die. Hold still. Allow me. What the heck? Look at his head. It's a bunch of cubes. Weird. I don't want to die. Anybody else have anything to say? Weird. H guess not. Cool music. [Music] The memories of a physician. One who saves lives should be reluctant to die. Alfao says, "Yet another endless being made to see us as the foe. All right, let's do it. Suspensers. What's going over there? Huh? Oh, it's a push back. Well, I'm confused. Oh, I see. Sensory deration. Oh no, I'm not going to be able to control my character. Triple attack indicates. Oh no, that's not good. What? That was weird. I guess you just got to remember. Take this. Wow. Hey, wait. Where is everyone? No. Oh man, I should have followed the NPCs. I guess it's not just a remembering thing. So, it actually changes the mechanics. All right. Why don't you save me, Alpha? No, man. Maybe I should have played tank. Could have cheesed it. [Music] So let's have a proper read. What's this say? I just senses and unable to correctly interpret attack indicators. So, how am I supposed to know which ones are real then? Did that one just go off first? Allow me. I'm just going to follow the NPCs. Carefully means to what? Oh, save me NPCs. This one's going up first. Hey, nice. I did it right. You'll not escape this. Dude, face the boss north, man. Holy moly. Oh. Oh, you've overburdened the system. No matter. It served its purpose. Is that all I got? Where's my gear at, man? What the hell? Man, I'm going to die a lot to that in uh duty finder, I guess. Oh, I didn't really look at the room properly. Wait, can I go back? Nope. Uh, what did that doctor say? Courage and general lo as I am to employ medicines in the application of harm. I will protect my patients. That's pretty much it. Fine. My people. Another one of those terminals. Should we stop and take a quick look? Yes, we shall. Alpha, you know me too well. Data station. According to Master Call, it is not the body which provides life to a living being, but the soul. Furthermore, it is the memories etched upon that ephemeral giver of existence which encapsulates one's true self. Based upon these principles, he has proposed a methodology for preserving souls using electro technology. As souls are composed entirely of ether, he asserts that storage via contemporary means should be imminently possible. Experiments conducted on criminal subjects and volunteers have in fact already proven successful in capturing the ether released at the moment of death. Mankind as we know it has taken a great leap forward. [Music] All right. Casting. Damn. Take this. Behind you. Take this. Next, we visit a prison of sinister repute. I need not compel them to fight. Oh. Oh no. Stream lagging. A little light exercise. Keep this up. Don't die now. Raha Take this. More earrings. Oh, more jewelry, I should say. What's this guy saying? This guy's talking Nice face, loser. These are loyal executioners. They shall deal appropriately with criminals. Cool. This place is pretty sweet. Your sentence is dead. Oh, cool. The casting bars. I can only hurt my being. Dude, you said you could use that LB, man. Shackles of fate. I don't like the sound of that. Enemies may run, but they cannot escape. Uh, get hit by those over there, aren't I? Oh, it's just mine. Okay. Oh, cool. Hey, this is pretty fun. [Music] Whoa. There's a safe spot here. Okay. Ah, fire. Fire. Allow me. Ah, Cool. Whoa. combination. [Music] It's splitting raw red wine. Wow, look at these cost bars. So good, bro. Where's the shields at, man? You'll not escape this. Can I help? Oh, I can. Can I step in? Yeah, I can. Can I help my boy first? Uh-oh. Ooh. Beginning to tire. Good. I bid you continue on. Wow. Oh, what a unique and interesting fun fight that was. That was cool. [Music] Uh, Sween, huh? Someone said something just now. Sween, memories are not tools to be exploited. Yeah. Okay. Wait, what did I get? Healing. It's me. [Music] Material. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Allow me. Oh, how did I miss this? We mustn't hold back. [Music] data station. We have succeeded in transferring a soul stored within a specialized electro device into a mechanical soldier, resulting in full control and function. No longer need we fear the erosion which lightning energies inflict upon flesh and blood bodies. Yet, despite this crucial breakthrough, Master Call remains unsatisfied. He would divorce memory from soul, siphoning the soul's ether reserves whilst granting eternal life to the individual's memories. Unfettered to a soul, memories can not only be stored, but also backed up as data. The endless will be beings of pure information. His foreshortened lifespan was perhaps the very perspective needed to conceive of such a unique evolutionary path. Yes. All right. How's the stage going to change this time? Memories from an age rife with death. The desperation will serve well. The enemy is at the gate. to arms. Good soldiers, protect your kingdom. He's recreated the storm surge. No, I cannot stop here. We're not stopping here. Why would we stop? I'll not die here. Cool. [Music] With faith and steel. Brace yourself. Hold still. [Music] Get out of the way, Raw. M food. Yum. I'm hungry. Definitely going to eat after this. For my family. Damn. Their legs may tremble, but our hearts are sturdy. Cool. Any [Music] secret coffers? No. Sagge. Ooh. Very well. If one by one they fall, I'll send them all as one. Recall the anguish you felt when you faced death and rise. Rise to defend your nation, your people, and your loved ones. [Music] Rise and meet the foe before you. [Music] Ooh, portals. Huh. [Music] Do it. The amalgam of memories. Let us see how it goes. It is the midst of the storm. What? What? What? What? What? What? What? Wait, there are NPCs here. Countless lives are lost in a senseless conflict. War swells in scope and intensity. Are you all right? Yes. Thank you. More missiles. Uh, there's going to be AoE's. The bombs weigh down without pause or mercy. Not again. Let's see if this can knock you off the stage. [Music] The spark of life is dimmed with every blinding flash. Red wide. He's too tall. I can't see the Caspar above his head. Not during the 2 minutes, man. is everywhere pillaging the promise of the future. Gathering energy. Oh, quick was ow. A I don't have knock back this time. Oh raid wide. Brace yourself. I don't think we're going to get LB2 in time, man. Yeah. Easy clap. [Music] [Music] Mystic memory shirt of scouting, man. Not a single piece of useful gear. [Music] Ooh, very fancy looking though. That's a nice set. Damn, nice dagger. [Music] He's using the endless like pawns, said Wlamat. Raha, we send we see this to the end. Alfa No, Alfa. No. [Music] An unconscionable act. Memories of fear and terror, said Cryle. My countrymen, your memories will carry me onwards. As hard as this is, we must press onto and Alise says, "Damn you, Call." Yeah. All right. I see this will go straight to a cut scene. [Music] The endless he sent against us. They were from the time of the storm surge before I was placed into stasis. As far as we know, the only sector to escape the shutdown was the one containing Call's memories. Assuming a chronological system, every other memory stored in that sector would belong to people who lived around the same period in history as he did. Call, how long have you pursued this madness? Like 400 years. [Music] We seem to have exhausted his defenses for the moment. I say we take advantage of this lull to press on. H Kix, well done. I commend your perseverance. The entirety of my memories are stored within this device. In the early stages of endless creation, we established several core tenants. One is a prohibition on memory duplication. Despite the inherent risks, I agree and abide by this. Memories are the essence of the self and should not be diluted. We each have our goals. You seek to destroy your target. I seek to reclaim the key. Shall we forgo the posturing and begin? Sure. Man, so much depth of field in this patch. Do not doubt that we are here to fight. And I do not mean to lose. Yet, as one born of the same era, I must ask, [Music] why do you pursue your evolution with such fervor? What do you hope to achieve with this eternal existence? [Music] Your question is meaningless. I have ascertained a superior path to mankind's preservation, and that which must be done is that which I can do. What other reason do I require? Surely you have seen it. Traditional survival strategies are at odds with an increasingly complex society, leading to a breakdown of order. This god promises no liberation from pointless conflicts or innamed tragedies. Physical traits do not represent the limit of our potential. Why then should we relinquish that potential when our hearts cease to beat? God damn. I realized it was past time that we corrected our heading. Nothing more. [Music] Even then, you were always so singleminded. I too have a vision for the future, and your plan is not a part of it. I won't let you harm another Alexandrian. [Music] Then fight. We must. Thankfully, the entity I now summon will make short work of you and your comrades. A summoning. Yes. Use the fear. What now? There it is. What? What was that? A chill? No, something else. I I feel so cold. So weak. Little Not me, too. Ah. Across Alexandria, a certain emotion is taking hold. The fear of death. Terror for the eternal darkness that will without fail engulf the lives of every living thing. Allow me to introduce it to you. [Music] He beat up a kid. I got it. I got one. What a face. 4,999. That's how many people he said they were up to. I made it just in time. Now to register. [Music] [Laughter] The death can't touch me now. I'm free of all that crushing fear forever. Congratulations to all who have acquired a Neo Regulator. We have reached our total of 5,000 registered users. The day of deliverance you were promised will soon be upon us. Give it back. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. You think that's what I want? H. Ah, yes. The summoning. Remember now. Remember your fear of dying. That terror will carry you across the threshold. Make of you an endless. Your prayers will birth a miracle which commands death. itself. [Music] Where's the asen? What in the [Music] They're tempered. Ah, [Music] what's going on? [Music] She's got the right idea. Ooh, look. It's Ornstein. Dragon Slayer. Securing the requisite ether is simple. I need only rroot lightning energy from living memory. Then I encourage the populace to define its form through hope and thought and prayer. Such an abstract method, however, is rife with unpredictable elements. What I wanted was an entity that could defeat you with utmost certainty. To that end, I set strict parameters for a concept of my own design. It was a laborious task, one that required almost more time than I had, but I managed it in the end. And now everything is in readiness. I bid you, come forth. Whoa, cool hands. What? What is that? Cool. [Music] A primal summoning and one defined by a concept, no less. How did he learn such techniques? Those goddamn asens, man. Keep these close. Huh? Oh, yeah. Damn, it's been a minute. That is a false deity brought into being through the prayers of the desperate and the hopeful. The talismans will protect your minds from being enthralled. Yes, I remember. [Music] What a cool song. Do you still mean to stand against me? Yeah. What will you say? I mean to win. The key will never be yours. You have much to answer for. Dot dot dot. Yeah, I mean to win. [Music] That remains to be seen. I want to snap that pen. [Music] The Asia's necropolis, huh? Oh, cool. I was kind of hoping they were going to do it, but at the same time I was like, man, the last time and the only time that we did a trial with NPC or trust was uh Ian. I don't think they ever did it after that that I can remember. Anyway, uh gee whiz, I wish I played Final Fantasy 9 till the end so I could understand all these references. All right, let's see what people have to say. Cryle, it all finally makes sense. Those mechanical rampages were not orchestrated solely for the purpose of harvesting ether. They were intended to heighten the collective fear of death. That the primal manifested by the people's terror would be that much more powerful. No what is he saying? That the fears of everyone in Alexandria gave birth to this this horror. Yep. Welcome to primal summoning 101. So it is a primal which embodies the concept of death in all its terror. He has made manifest a most troublesome foe. Alise, the summoning ritual alone made my blood run cold, like I was halfway to becoming a corpse. Alfo, as I feared, I was right to bring spare warding scales. Ah, that's what you were talking about earlier. Against the threats of a primal, we must take advantage of every warrior we can field. Yes. Ulamat. I don't care if that thing is a waking nightmare. Let's send it back to the darkness. Ever. Yep. Raha. As abundance of lightning would indeed obviate the need for crystals. I should like to know when Calllex came by the summoning knowledge. Dude, come on, man. One of the remaining Asens obviously whispered it in his ear. Yo. Well, maybe. Uhhuh. Oh, I thought it would let me read. All right, hold on. There it is. The ageless necropolis. By entrusting their memories of departed loved ones to the cloud, Alexandrians have long escaped the grief of separation. being thus forced to confront the realities of mortal existence. What then filled their hearts was a dark and unreasoning terror. Harnessing this heightened fear of death for his own ends, a genius of an age gone by now, channels the people's desperate prayers for Sucker into a new primal incarnation. It falls to the warrior of light to stand unflinching in the face of fear made manifest and claim victory over this inexurable entity. All right, let's do it. She's healing. Wow. [Music] [Music] Necron, [Music] those who obstruct evolution. shall suffer the rotting fate of all flesh. [Music] Ooh, creepy, [Music] huh? [Music] Oh, yeah. You get second lives in this. Ah, cool. I like that. All right, let's do it. You are bound by the limits of flesh. It will betray you. Yeah. Why is everybody spreading? Keep your hands off me. There. Whoa. Creepy. Huh? Oh, there was a safe side. Oh, I see. Oh, I see. One's glowing. I didn't notice. Uh, that side's glowing brighter, I think. Oh, I see. Mistakes were made. Do not see. Death is upon you. And that is one big ass comment. Perhaps this huh? [Music] Oh, we That was like a diamond. This is a circle. Maybe it's a donut. Isn't that the same shape, man? I knew it. Knew it was going to be the freaking opposite. God damn it. Fear empowers fear eroding your strength. Holy moly. Three stacks. Oh, we're the midsh. I'm nuts. Fine. Whoa. Oh Ow. I will reduce you to ether ring, dude. Heal me. Thank you. You will die for me now. Nope. Rising fear of death. I will not hold back. Try this. Take this. Accepting death is the greatest sin a life can commit. The endless darkness indulges you. Take this. Oh, it's not targetable. P12. Huh? Easy, man. I use my burst. Oh, I see what you mean with V12 now. V12 now. Yeah. Yeah. Oh I have a doom. I have to hurry. Go into the lights. Dude, that gave you a lot of time. What the hell? [Music] Still alive. But there are ways to change that. Middle safe there. This way. Those who do not resist death deserve it. Everything's out of alignment. It's a giant circle. Man, I don't know which is which. I'm just going to sprint and try to cheese it. Wait, this is something different. Ah This pizza box strat. Oh, I'm dead as man. Oh, I'm so dead. All right, let's just go with the opposite. Yeah. [Music] Oh, okay. That wasn't that bad. Fight if you must. [Music] Now we struggle in vain. I mean, everything just looks like a diamond to me. I thought thought they said it's different shapes. Aren't they just different diamonds? Once the terror takes root, a crap. It will only continue to grow. Get out of here. Hey, do that again. I can't see. Fear compounds fear, eroding your strength. It's just like that critical encounter. I will introduce you to No, you won't. That means nothing is a circle when he makes [Music] you mean this circle. I noticed it's like a different color. I think deserve it. But I swear the NPC said it's a different shape. The circle is still a circle if it's a different color. Uh I was going to fluke it again. This time I have sprint. I am prepared for you. Go kill him before it starts anyway. Oh, I have second lives anyway. Still kill them. die. Oh, Caspar. Look at that. Look at that. The NPCs told me where to go. Perfect. Cool. [Music] Ray, we've beat a new Kellix. Is that truly the end of it? We did it. Something doesn't feel right. A primal of all things. Yeah. Where's the asen at? Now is our chance. Come on, Al. What do you got to say? Callix has nothing left to throw at us. Yeah, except an asen. Here it comes now. [Music] Is it over now? The memory bank. Spank bank. Hey, that's cheating, man. It's shielded. I invited you to destroy it. I did not say I would let you. It is clear your strength cannot be gauged by ordinary means, but I anticipated as much. What did you do to it? The ignorance is almost laughable. You do not understand that you yourselves are to blame. You brought death to my creation. What do you suppose happens when a being manifested by the fear of dying experiences that terror firsthand? It grows stronger. [Music] Whoa. I feel it again. That same a weakness. It will rise again and again until the lightning which infuses this entire world has been drained to its last spark. You fight a losing battle. Cheater. We'll see about that. God, damn you. Harnessed in this manner, does it not demonstrate just how powerful mankind's aversion to death truly is? You will not prevail against this foe. I meanwhile will continue my crusade against mortality. So long as our memories endure, we may live on. That is the promise I offer. So long as our memories endure. This is wrong, Alex. You twist the meaning of those words. They are not meant to teach the living that physical death is nothing to fear. They are meant to offer comfort to those we leave behind. I know that litany all too well. I heard it time and time again over the course of the war. Help me, Shale. I must speak to Alexandria. Make my voice heard. A Let's summon Idolin. Snap out of it. Don't you recognize me? Nah. What has Gooning done to this man? What's happening? What's wrong with them? What will become of us? Fellow Alexandrians, please heed my words. What now? Another broadcast. I know that voice. It's your queen. Death can be frightening and terrible. I understand the desire to forget, to seek eternal life and be freed from fear. What happened to this guy? Why Why is he just dead? Yet we live in this world in the here and now. The bearers of memories varied and rich. Our worries can weigh heavy and there may be nights when the darkness feels like more than we can bear. But if we can endure those dark hours, the world will always brighten come the dawn. Come the dawn. And in the chill of that new morning will the memories of loved ones be there to warm us and carry us forward. So do not forget their passing. Let them be our courage. Fear not a life well lived. For one day, the memories we leave behind will be the warmth another needs when their mourning finds them. [Music] Snap out of it. Gooner. [Music] What's going on? Is it working? What is this reaction? Man, I hate this character. An irregular factor in the equation. Me, me, me. Eliminate her. Nice try. Watch this. Save the day. Hey, it's not it's me. Let's go. No, you don't. All right, throw her into. All right, why not? [Music] Memories cannot be duplicated, but they can be transferred. You little Going to run away. [Music] [Music] It's pretty long progress bar. [Music] [Music] Leave the primal to us. Hurry and take care of that memory bank. [Music] Oh Jesus. [Music] Oh, getting scared, are we? You're water. [Music] Dude, just don't hold it so tight, man. I gave her my word. I promised I would protect her people and we will protect them together. Yeah, get them. Archanist war. [Music] What the hell was I doing during all of this? Everyone was hitting the boss, but I wasn't. Damn. Nice work, Ky. The others. The others. Where's every orange sleep? You think I count her voice lines? Oh yeah, that's more like it. [Music] Oh, he's finally showing some emotion. Little Draon elite. Y [Music] nice face. Wonder what that looks like if you're like a healer. Do you hit it with your book? Do you cast magic or something? Hey, is he gone? Come on, man. It's not that bad. All you did was like hold your weapon really, really tightly. Big deal. Put some gloves on. Such a drama queen. Careful. You're badly hurt. You'd be lucky if you only broke a bone or two. It won't be long until your fever rises. We need to see you back to Tuli Yolo and into the care of a Kai virgin. [Music] I just want to die. Oh [Music] I kept my promise. Good work. Thank you, Lamati. [Music] A [Music] Wow, she's on the floor. Sleepy. Hey, they bandages her hands. Let us bask in the victory a moment, shall we? We can take stock once we've had a chance to recuperate. Raha. Phew. It is good to be out of that terminal. But what of you? No injuries or lingering ill effects. I'm good. Not my first rodeo. Alis, after dealing that last blow, I had a drop of ether left to spend. Thank you for seeing it through to the end. Cryle, I believe Klex was working to transfer his memories at the end there, but he vanished at the exact moment the device exploded. We must have stopped him just in time. Gee, I sure hope so, cuz I'm really sick of that character. He's very boring. Spine, it's finally over. [Music] Alfo, she has yet to regain consciousness, but worry not, Lamachi will be fine. I've been in touch with Val Corner, and he has made arrangements to convey her home, by which he means to come and fetch Lamachi himself. Apparently, given the extent of her injuries and exertions, she'll likely spend many days of bed. Oh, wart also someone that said, "We couldn't have done it without you." Cryle. And once she uh and once she had the barrier down, you saw to it that Kellix stored memories. Kellix's stored memories were destroyed along with the memory bank, which means preservation is no more, I pray. Me, too, [Music] no longer will Klex dictate the course of our people. No longer will our grief be locked away or forgotten. The freedom to feel joy and sadness to feel all that we are meant to experience is in the hands of Alexandrians once more. [Music] I can never thank you enough. [Music] When we are arrested and ready, we shall have to conduct a thorough investigation into how Kix came to know that summoning ritual. Yeah, we got to find that Essen. Raha I. For where there are primals, the asens are near far. [Music] Alpha. And we must consider that those who offered our prayers during the summoning may very well have fallen under the entity's sway. I shall wait here without patient until Valkconor arrives. Feel free to go on ahead and send to Alexandria's needs in the meantime. Alise, yes, we should get going. I'll contact Sha on route and ask for an update on the situation in the city. Sen, shall we make for the outskirts first then? We can check on things there before heading into Everkeep. [Music] All right, Alfao, don't do anything weird. I expect I shan be waiting long. After hearing of Lamachi's injuries, Connor sounded fit to launch himself here by siege engine. Yeah, he's a bit weird with his sister. Yeah, let's just use this. I hope they don't say he survived in 8.0 unless he like corrupted or something. He's such a boring character. Oh, I'm so emotionless. I'm a scientist according to my calculations. Me, me, me. Cryle. Oh, fine. No signs of recent violence. The soldiers have been behaving at least. Cryle, thank goodness. Things are much calmer than I anticipated. Ra, I've given Si an a bridged explanation of primals and their enthralling influence. Too much detail would overwhelm her. Alice, I was able to speak with Shay and Narrenville. I'll share the news with everyone in just a moment. [Music] Ever. Everyone has been teaching me what it means to be enthralled by a primal. The outskirts seem untouched by trouble as far as I can tell. But what if something awful has happened? Alice, deep breaths. Aaronville and Shale have brought me up to speed. First off, just as we'd feared, those who adopted the near regulators appear to have been enthralled. So far, however, they've not shown any hostility towards others. I suspect this was due to the calming effect of your broadcast. Government administrators are presently working with the rest of the citizenry to bring the afflicted into the care of the authorities. And I'm happy to report that this seems to be proceeding in a largely peaceful manner, which is all well and good, but the city officials are understandably requesting an explanation of events. Raha Cryle, would you be able to handle that? Raha, certainly. We shall return to aid with the treatment efforts forth with the cry. Meanwhile, might I suggest you look in on the people you fought so very hard to save. It may ease your mind to see the fruits of your efforts firsthand. Sen, thank you again. How very fortunate we are to have you as our allies. Oh, I thought there was going to be a cut scene. Cryle, let Raha and I brief the officials on what to expect. I think Sien might like to have you nearby for a little while longer. Raha, it has never been easy for me to explain primal summoning to the layman in a clear, concise manner, but it is a skill I must hone if I'm to uphold the students of Baldesian's good name. Layman, get insulted. Alice, once I've had a look around, I'll go and assist with the treatment of the enthralled. We'll have to mobilize Angelo and all his siblings. Yay, Angelo, the little flying pig. Just taller. If every person who was equipped with a neo regulator was affected, then we have no less than 5,000 patients. Even with an army of trained mages, rehabilitation may take many moons. And yet, this is a best case scenario. The fact that we even have the capability to exorcize a primal's influence would have been unthinkable not so long ago. True. Remember those days? Blades in waiting. Man, this is pretty long so far. Cool. I'm happy with that. Although Oh, no worries. Lucky. Thank you. I did take quite a while with the uh office area. Uh Blades in waiting. Sien wishes to check on the state of the outskirts. Sien mayap I will take you up on your suggestion only I am concerned that given who I am approaching those unaware of my return may only serve to confuse them further cry then why not speak with Mah Mahusa she works the fields at Yupy Halo not far from here as one of those who came to see you before our clash with Klex she will surely be glad to know you are safe and found. I thought that was her. Uh, what an excellent idea. I think I shall do just that. Thank you, Cryle. Peace. [Music] This is the theme that played just now when we were beating the boss. Alice Aaronville and Shale were both relieved to learn of our victory. I could practically hear the tension drain out of their voices, especially Shales. She was quite worried for us. Mishtoa's identity will not remain a secret much longer. Her message touched the hearts of people throughout the kingdom. Ah, so this is the place where Mahusa works. Back in resolution, she seemed most interested to learn about me. Yet, I would be glad to learn much more of them as well. Please be voiced. It's not. I knew it. You can tell by the angles, camera angles they use. Who's up? Look who it is. Good to see you again. Hail and healthy. I am sorry we did not get word to you sooner. How is everyone? Mahusa. Well, nothing terrible befell us as such. The neo regulator crowd did all start acting strange at the same time though. Pepan was one of them. I'm told the authorities are tending to him at a medical facility. Alice, you needn't worry. With the proper treatment, we'll soon have everyone back to their normal selves. Musa, I sure am glad to hear that. I'd like to not lose any more friends if that can be helped. If it can be helped. I also hear that the queen's fiend who tried enticing us to become endless turned out to be an impostor. What kind of heartless villain prays on people's insecurities like that? [Music] Yet, despite the dangers to yourselves, you and yours made sure to put a stop to it. If I understand things correctly, then we owe you a debt of gratitude. It's up to each of us now to make the most of what you've given us. We're alive because of you. And while we live and breathe, our future is ours to decide. Your broadcast was a message of hope for me, for everyone. [Music] Spine dot dot dots. [Music] Now I really should be going. We still have to keep things running without Pepan and the others. And the outskirts need all the spare hands they can get. [Music] Uh, is is there anything I might do to help heal the enthralled? Alise, quite a lot. In fact, I could very much use a mage of your ability. She told her, "Actually, this would be a good opportunity to round up other arcane practitioners and teach everyone how to use the porkies. The knowledge will come in handy for treating lemon sickness as well." Sweet. Wonderful. I shall petition Gossson to spread the word. Why does she run everywhere? Our outskirts tour is cancelled. It would seem [Music] Elise. By the way, Ever Alfo told me that Connor arrived to escort Lamachi back to Tulle. Alphao himself will be returning to Alexandria momentarily. So between the two of us, I think we can sort out the treatment arrangements. Given all that, I had a mind to ask you a different favor. Would you mind looking in on Gulja? According to Shale, he's been running around the kingdom, determined to personally solve every problem problem. Last she heard he was pitching in over at the drift downs with Erinville. If you ask Tapu, I believe her name was, she should be able to point you in their general direction. General direction? Cuz she's blind. Nice joke, Alise. [Music] Very insensitive. I knew it. It is her. It is the blind NPC. Damn, I know all the NPCs. That's not true. Is Mahusa around here still? I think she's gone. Yeah, it's fine. [Music] Yeah, there she is. Ah! Oh, Tapu. Ah, I know that voice. See, she's not looking at me cuz she's blind and happy I am to hear it. We all prayed fervently for your safe return. Looking for Gilja? Are you? He was here asking if we needed help with with anything or if we had noticed anyone who had been acting strangely. He sounded exhausted, so I told him we were fine for the moment and insisted he take a rest. I can only hope people heed my advice. I believe he ran off towards the ruins of old Alexandria. He always did seem to like it there. Golja is a precocious child, but a child nonetheless. He needs our guidance and support. Thanks, Tapoo. Guess he's going to go where maybe where Otis was when we found Otis the first time or not. Aaronville Eray, how ah came in search of us, did you? You needn't have treed all the way out here, but it is good to see you. Alice gave us the broad strokes and Connor had some choice words as well. Please be voice acted. Yo. Oh, welcome back. Yes. It's been a trial, hasn't it? We heard from Kona. He said that Lamachi is in no immediate danger and should make a full recovery. Wow of resolve indeed. Resolve to be as reckless as ever. She might spare a thought for us helpless spectators from time to time. You and Lamachi and all the others fought so bravely for Alexandria. Oh, and what did I do? He feels so inadequate. I was useless, even with the king's authority. If I were strong, more people might still be alive. But I'm weak. So weak. Poor little fella. [Music] You'll grow into your strength. Those who know weakness first often become the strongest. Damn, I kind of like that. But he's going to grow into his strength, man. Come on, man. Hang in there, kid. [Music] [Music] I want to see him cry. [Music] He's got the heart of a champion. That's right. And you have your whole life ahead of you. We all start somewhere. [Music] Yeah. Actually, there's something I'd like you to see. Sure. Yo, [Music] my father and Odyssey swords. I asked Lamachi to bring them here. I've decided to train under a Lansguard soldier and become a swordsman. Hey, nice. That's a big commitment. I'm still not sure if I want to be the king of resolve, but I want to be strong enough to protect the people I love. So, I'll train as hard as I can, and then I'll come back here. when I'm ready to take up these blades. Nice. That's the path I've decided on. Cool. [Music] Good for you, Kulcha. I look forward to seeing your progress. Me, too. I'm rooting for you, kid. When I'm bigger and stronger, you'll spar with me, won't you? Hell yeah. Just like your papa. Well, not your real papa. Well, I guess I spied with him, too. I meant the one you were named after. [Music] Aaronville yet to lift the blade and he wants to spar already. He is Gul Jaja's grandson. All right. Oh, yeah. Grandson. Oh, not father. Grandfather. I said father, didn't I? Ga. Thank you both for listening. I'll take it one step at a time and stick with what I know for now. Like cooking the meals that Otis taught me and keeping everyone's bellies full. How does that sound? Aaronville sounds like a fine idea. Everyone's been working hard, so I'm sure a good meal would be much appreciated. Well, I think we've passed a milestone here. What about the back room? If you haven't already, I'd expect Shale and the others would appreciate you stopping by to say hello. I have no plans to move on just yet. One of the afflicted is an old friend, and I want to stay close while the treatments are ongoing. Gulia. Otus' swords has seen better days. Now, Otus' sword has seen better days. I'll ask Gen to fix it when I'm big enough to wield it. As for my father's weapons, they were found in the sky deep cenote. I wonder if he ever intended for me to have them. H interesting. Hey yo, baby grill. Baby grill. Genalt. Made it back with all your bits intact, eh? I knew you was one to watch the moment I set eyes on ye. As for me, there's all sorts of restoration work coming in. Won't be getting a proper snooze in for the foreseeable future, I reckon. Cryle. Oh, we had the same idea, I see. I thought it might be nice to catch up with our oblivion friends before we delve into more serious matters with the city officials. Shale Evy. Oh, thank the stars you're safe. I heard the reports, of course, but there's no substitute for actually seeing it. Welcome back. We have so much to thank you for. [Music] The promise of tomorrow. Final quest. Shale is visibly relieved at your safe return. Shale. Now that everyone's back, I say we pause a moment to savor what we've accomplished. [Music] Cryle, we've been through much in these past days, haven't we? Shale, that's an understatement. We've seen the end of a year's long struggle for Oblivion and for myself. Kiawa and Geodude would be happy for us. [Music] Oddly enough, fulfilling our purpose has somewhat left me with even more work to do. The government has tasked me with conducting a more complete survey of the containment complex. Government, what are you going to do? Cryle. Ah, the preservation facility. That lab where they studied the key certainly demands further investigation. I can understand how those experiments may have led to the discovery of reflections. Yet they failed to explain Kix's knowledge of primal summoning. Yeah. Wait. 50. [Music] I fear that he and his hunger for interdimensional travel were only one facet of a greater puzzle. There's still someone or something out there that may pose a threat to us. [Music] Yeah, where's the asen? In any case, I think it prudent we secure ourselves a spot in Shale's next expedition to the 10th level. [Music] Right. I have a meeting with city officials to attend. It would be cruel to leave Raha to answer their barrage of questions alone. shale. I should return to my work as well. My first job will be to analyze the data we pulled from containment complex 10229 and locate other facilities of interest. I can only hope the information we uncover will serve Alexandria and the future we want to build. Whatever we end up finding, however, it's like to take some weeks to put the city back to rights. All these ambitious plans aside, I think you've earned a rest, don't you? Our break room is yours to bunk in for as long as you like. Say the word and I'll help you settle in. [Music] Ch ready for a cot and fluffy pillow. It will likely be some time before the city returns to normal. You may choose to remain in the back room and watch over the proceedings. Wow. While away the days in the back. Hell yeah. Let's do it. Full send it. Several weeks later, [Music] paperwork. [Music] What an absurdly long report. Even working together, it took us an age to finish. [Music] Well, to be fair, it was a rather absurd series of events. The mystery behind grandfather's letter took us further than we could have ever imagined. Wow. Truly, it feels like a lifetime ago that it all began. Truly, it does. Right. Then, one last bit of proofreading. [Music] Where was I? Ah, yes. The chaos which had gripped the kingdom of Alexandria was slowly but surely giving way to order once more. [Music] The thorough investigation conducted by Oblivion was one of the primary factors contributing to this recovery. Its members uncovered multiple preservation research facilities allowing for a comprehensive study of regulator design and function. Thus have we come to understand that memories pertaining to the deceased were not erased from the minds of the living but in truth merely locked away. Permanent gaps in one's memory were to be avoided as inconsistencies would arise during endless conversion and cause instability. [Music] When the time came, restoring these buried memories would be a simple matter of transmitting a signal from the Meso terminal. Acting on this discovery, the Alexandrian government announced plans for a memory restoration initiative open to willing participants. This reignited the discussion surrounding mortality. As people continue to debate how best to face the inevitability of death, no matter the answer at which they arrive, it is certain to herald a major shift in the nation's philosophy. [Music] Yes, that matches my understanding of events. Excellent work, Raha. [Music] [Music] I'm glad it serves. Shall we make our way over then? [Music] Ahead of the memory restoration, officials requested the assistance of those familiar with the processes involved. So it was that our party, Ansen, who had eagerly volunteered, accepted the task of escorting the city's representative to living memory. Before you go, Malikite, we just wanted to say that we haven't made this decision lightly. No matter how frightening or painful they may be, we need to face our memories. Not only to honor those who are gone, but to make whole those who are still here. So, no second thoughts. We'll be waiting. If anything tries to harm you, you knock it flat. Come back safely. Our spien from another time. Yes. Be safe. I'll see you soon. See you soon. So sweet of you. But you needn't worry. I'm in very good company. Ye. [Music] Thank you all for your well wishes. Damn, nice smile. [Music] Hey, it's Milos. [Music] H sha shaloney. [Music] Despite the disruption caused by the dome's arrival, the people in the surrounding region have since reclaimed their normal lives. [Music] Hey, how does the train turn around [Music] to face the other way? [Music] It's got the steam engine thing on that side, but not the other one. Maybe it's got like a thing that spins, raises, and spins inside the uh warehouse. [Music] Hey, it's these guys. [Music] The Terral which Gul Jar united is nothing if not resilient. [Music] Run egg shetto. The winds of change are fickle. A sudden gust often the bearer of challenging trials. [Music] But so too do they spur us onward, keeping our feet ever moving along life's path. [Music] Howdy friend. [Music] [Music] You'll soon be on your way to Yaktel. Then yes, we've just come from making arrangements with the derigible master. Preparations for the flight are still underway, so I'm doing a little sightseeing. [Music] My gratitude to the Lands Guard for providing us with the permits we need to visit the sky deep senate. Of course, we'd hardly refuse a direct request from the vow of reason. Our vigilant comrades at the gate will see you safely through [Music] [Music] Wlamart isn't here. Of course, [Music] she is still convilelesing, I take it. What? It's been weeks. What the Indeed, she's presently confined to bed and permitted no visitors. Weakened as she is, we cannot be too careful. [Music] I can scarcely sleep at night for the worry. Oh my. Please forgive me. I hadn't realized her condition was so serious. I pray she makes a full recovery soon. Damn. Come on, man. What's up? [Music] Hey, what's her name? Pebbly. Mley, something like that. Greetings, Mommy. What a rare pleasure. This is so close. Is something wrong? Your friend looks like she had some bad news. She wanted to visit the vow of resolve. And there's a little reason she couldn't have. Is there something you wish to say? I see. I see. I'm glad there's nothing terrible of foot. [Music] And yet where there's a need still making Gil, huh? Sorry, I just remembered a pressing errand. Let's talk again soon. We hardly even spoke. That was weird. The Alexandrians, I understand, have teachings similar to that of the Yoku. Our flesh may wither and die. But so long as we are remembered, we are never truly gone. My father's last words. I've long considered their meaning. The living can find strength in the memories of those we've lost. They can help us rise to meet our trials in the present. [Music] That was certainly true of myself. So I have faith that the people of Alexandria too will be stronger for their grief. It may be, as you say, if we did not remember our lost siblings, we would not be where we are now. Or be who we've become. We all have memories like that, I bet. [Music] [Music] Well, we made it. The journey was so smooth as to be almost disappointing. You said it. I can only agree, especially after our first visit felt so fraught with danger. It's the curse of experience, my friends. Before we know it, the extraordinary becomes every day. [Music] Life is an accumulation of such things. Both the happy times and the sad. Ever the wise, Raha. Right, let's go over Shale's instructions on performing the memory restoration. The first step is to reactivate all the terminals at the same time. This will supply the ether necessary to operate the equipment without creating any new endless, of course. H once things are up and running, we use the Messo terminal to transmit the signal and unlock the sealed memories. There are five terminals in total. Might you lend us a hand with one spine? Yes, I can do that. Not too but in, but would you mind letting me take it? Look who it is. Should you be up and about? I'm fine. My worry ward of a brother exaggerates. Pablo came by to fill me in on your plans. After that, I couldn't stand being cooped up a moment longer, so she helped me sneak out of the palace. Nice. I'm so glad to see you're well. Why did they pick Marbly for that? Strange. Sorry, Kona made you think I was at death's door. I was keeping up with reports and know what's been happening in Alexandria. I made the decision to erase the endless and bore witness to their final moments. And though it's only a tiny fragment, their hopes live on in me. I feel responsible for making sure that they're remembered, that their legacy is passed on. So, please let me help with sending the signal. You've made a convincing case, but do take it slowly. The way is not without its perils. I'll be careful. Thanks. Very well, then. I leave these tasks in your capable hands. [Music] Cool. Is living memory going to look good again now? [Music] Oh, maybe the soundtrack will go back to the original version instead of the PA system version. [Music] All right, everyone begin. [Applause] [Music] [Music] Beam. [Music] Yay. uh flashbang, [Music] huh? Ah, we're so back. Hell yeah. Was the sight we saw no more than a trick of the light? H. [Music] It's them. What? That's a trigger the light. Or was it a gift? The terminal's parting miracle. [Music] But those days are gone. We chose to move forward. Yes, we hold fast to our memories of sorrow and of grief. [Music] that we might live full in the present air. The time of departure comes [Music] Let's go home to our beloved Alexandria. [Music] Full power. [Music] Ah memory restoration. How they going to deal with all those emotions, man? [Music] O [Music] damn. [Music] [Music] Mother, you protected me. I remember now. In soft golden light, the memories of the lost returned, there to be clutched tight by loved ones, never again to be surrendered. Huh. [Music] So awesome. [Music] I am humbled by all you have done in service to our nation. On behalf of its people, I offer our most heartfelt gratitude. We were only too happy to help. There are still problems left to solve, of course, but you've taken an important step forward. We have. It's as if we were frozen in time, but now the ice has begun to thaw. Alexandria will thrive again. Mark my words. What will you do now, Sen? Ah, yes. Well, that will depend on Gossson. With your permission, I wish to continue living in Alexandria. Those dear to me laid down their lives for this nation in bygone days, and I fought alongside new comrades to defend it. I would continue serving it if you'd let me. So, please accept me as one of your citizens. That will not do. [Music] You're the queen, man. I see. I suppose my presence would cause too much confusion. Come on, man. He's sent you. Now, hold on a moment. You have to reconsider. I'll vouch for her myself. Let the man do forgive me. I've caused a misunderstanding. What I meant to say is it will not do for you to be an ordinary citizen. The people have been most insistent that you take your rightful place as queen. Damn straight. As queen. When despair held us in its thr, it was your voice, your words, which led us to salvation. We would not ask that you perform the same duties as our previous ruler. The structure of both government and nation is to be re-examined and revised such that the burden doesn't fall upon you alone. If that is acceptable, we implore you, please live among us and lend us your gentle guidance. The Alexandrian monarchs of old cared for us and fought for us, and you stand proud among them. But but I Oh, what of Galja? You have him, don't you? Alexandria has two thrones to fill now. What one ruler might struggle with, the two of you can accomplish together. Kuja's still young, though, so don't expect too much of him just yet. Do it. What will you say? You already know what to do. The voices of the past will be your guide, man. Some cringe You already know what to do. Yes. Yes, you're right. Whoa, she still had it. For centuries, my other self bore this tiara and with it the hopes and dreams of Alexandrians. I will not let them go unanswered. I will heed the wishes of the people. With peace and prosperity for Alexandria as my foremost purpose, I accept the role of Queen of Reason. Not this song. Queen of reason. It's not an easy road, but we'll walk it side by side. That way neither of us gets lost. Thank you. Thank you all so much. [Music] Yo, yes, the music is back. It's back to the normal version, not the PA system version. Oh man, this place is great. This song's great. H Gossen, we shall walk this difficult road together as Vuklamat has assured us. Raha, this great nation is set to become an even greater one, an ever greater one. How fortunate we are to be here and witness this turning point in its history. Erinville Gul was also of the opinion that Sien should become the queen of reason. He will be delighted to hear that she has accepted the role. Wlamat. So is to sit the throne once more. She may have questioned her claim, but Alexandria's citizens have made their feelings known. Cryle, a new Alexandrian queen has risen. It is an occasion worthy of grand celebration. Sen, thank you for your kind encouragement. Ever Wlamat is right. Ours will not be an easy road, but with your words to lend me strength, I shall take it one step at a time. Wlman and Tulleola will be there to support you. Speaking of which, I should be getting back to the palace. I'll make my next visit an official one. No sneaking out on the corner's nose like this time. The vows of resolve and reason will both come and we can discuss our futures together. Sien, I look forward to it. [Music] Shall we begin the journey home then? I expect some confusion among the citizens with restored memories, and I would be present to offer them aid. [Music] Aaronville. Well, I believe this marks the end of my role, the end to my role as guide. I was intending to accompany Wlamat back to Tuliola. But what are your plans, Everray? Didn't you have other matters yet to attend to in Alexandria? No. No. You need to stop by the palace first. Connor's been wanting to thank you properly, but with everything going on, he hasn't had the chance. Please come back with us or I'll never hear the end of it. [Music] Volk Shuna [Music] [Music] Aaronville. How long has it been since I last walked these streets? Maybe I spent too long in Solution 9, but the city seems livelier than it ever was. Good little John. Ever. No one told me you were coming. Hey little fella. Conor. The memory memory restoration went well. I am told. It's good to be home. Thanks for coming along. Gja, I just got here too. The Lance Guard said my training would begin right away, so I'll be staying in Tuluola a while. Wuklat, we believe in Yukula, and whenever you need advice, your aunt is always happy to give it. [Music] Arenville. Oh dear, our vow of reason is out of sorts. [Music] Connor, can you blame me? Namachi, you were supposed to be convilelesing in bed. So you would study the way of the blade. Gulcha. Gulcha is Is that not allowed? Connor, I will permit your training on one condition. You only practice sword play in the presence of a grown-up. Gula, yes, Connor, I promise. Hook them up. It won't be long before you're good enough to train without a minder. You take too much after your sire and your grand sire for that. [Music] Good old Joe. Wait, so if you're back here, does that mean everyone else already got their memories back? Mama, not everyone. [Music] So that was that. My days of meddling in Alexandrian affairs are over. Good old Joe. It all turned out for the best. The former queen really did love her people and it's wonderful that her love lives on in Spain Mlan. It truly is. With that love as the foundation of her rule, the new queen will be a font of hope for Alexandria. There's no better way for a life and legacy to forever endure. [Music] You'll be heading back there, won't you? To Alexandria. I won't pretend that I fully understand the workings of the key or the reflections. And I know I couldn't have stopped Call without you, nor fulfilled my promise to the endless Spain. Thank you, Efrey, from the bottom of my heart. Be sure to come and visit us again in Tuli Yolo. You'll always be welcome here. Thanks, Aaronville. It's time I moved on myself. Once I've made the necessary preparations and arrangements, I will embark on an extended journey. Conor, well, I expect my days will be filled with administrative duties, much as they already are. I am hoping to compile a comprehensive history of Tol. However, the tale of our beautiful and resilient nation should be preserved for the future with each successive generation adding their own chapter to the saga. Gloja, I I think I've learned to be happy with who I am, Everray. Even when I make mistakes and cry and look silly, and it's all because of the amazing things I've seen with you, they remind me there's always tomorrow. Becoming the king of resolve is not something I need to think about until I'm older. But my father's authority did pass to me. So until that day comes, I'll study and train and do the best I can. Wuklat, you've really come far, Gulja. You'll keep doing on keep on doing us proud. I'm sure of it. [Music] Good job. I guess you have to go now. So, be safe and enjoy your travels. We'll miss you. Send our best to Sen and the others. [Music] Bye-bye, [Music] Aaronville. I won't just vanish over the horizon. I promise. I'll let you know before I leave on my journey. Good old Joe. I'll visit Shale and everyone as often as I can. Can't even see the little guy. There he is. There's still so much I want to learn from them. Whatever burdens I must carry, I will and I'll become stronger for it. Just you watch. Conor, I intend to make a formal diplomatic visit to Alexandria in the near future and express my gratitude to those who have watched over Gulja Rexis Park. Then outside the apartments. No. Huh? The resolution H. Practice park. Our resolution's up there. I see. Ooh, here comes the end. Alfino, I'll need to give a full account of what happened here to Thanred and the others. That said, Estinian may prove difficult to track down. I think he hardly needs to know. Probably doesn't care. Cryle, we've observed no complications with the memory restoration thus far. Thank goodness for small mercies. Ishola, you've had a busy time of it, warrior of light. Take advantage of this lull while you may [Music] Alice. When did Arenville leave Alexandria? Don't tell me he's embarked on some far-flung expedition without saying goodbye. Ra, I hear Gilja has packed his bags and left a train in Tuliol. Oh, I suppose you would have seen him while you were there. Oh, having cough attack. Shale, there are still those who can't decide if they want their memories back. I said I would restore mine after things calmed down, but the truth is I'm not sure I'm even ready. So, we'll make this a gradual process and give everyone the time they need to prepare, myself included. Er, [Music] you're here. We were just discussing what is to be done after the coronation ceremony. Our here to four isolated kingdom must join its peers on the world stage. Alpha. The fact that Alexandria is or was a nation of the ninth will be the cause of some constonnation. It may smooth introductions or the scions to provide an explanation for its arrival in the source. [Music] Alice, rest assured, Senas' leaders are well accustomed to hearing Alfa report on fantastical events. Once again, I am in your debt. I dread to imagine what might have come to pass had you never come to our aid. [Music] Ah, I had other news. Those who participated in the memory restoration have expressed the desire to hold aerary service. [Music] Rather than suppress their grief, they would embrace it, creating in their hearts a place for gentle remembrance. We have yet to hammer out the details, but I was thinking we might host this service on the highest level of everkeep. Ever since my time, we have believed that the departed continue their journey beyond the clouds. [Music] What will you say? That's a lovely idea. Seems very fitting for Alexandria. You'll invite our friends from Tilly, won't you? Uh, seems very fitting for Alexandria. Sure, yes. I hope that from such a place our prayers might be heard. A wish for our loved ones to soar forever joyful and free in that heavenly expanse. Raha. After so long distancing themselves from the realities of death, the Alexandrians are to be commended for their courage. Cry. Yes, it is a tremendously brave thing they're doing. [Music] Perhaps our hearts can never capture a memory as perfectly as data in a file. But what precious recollections we do keep will guide and sustain us as we fulfill the promise of tomorrow. She said the thing shale, you've busy days ahead of you, your majesty. Oblivion stands ready to pitch in as needed. [Music] Oh, and what of my investigations, Shale? I hope you've left some time in your schedule for me. [Music] Sen, do you recall my first tour of the city after I awoke? It was all so strange and frightening, but I've only grown more at home here ever since. that I now feel a part of this new Alexandria is in large part thanks to your patient guidance. [Music] And so here I will remain. Should you ever have need of my aid with anything at all, pray, do not hesitate to ask. Cryle, some few of us will stay here a while as it happens. We've made several interesting breakthroughs and have no shortage of mysteries into which we would delve. Then be welcome as honored guests for as long as you like. You are and always will be my cherished comrades. [Music] This is kind of drawn out. Oh, perfect. [Music] All right, hit me with a cut scene. Give it to me. Show me the asen. Oh, no. [Applause] man. [Music] Ew. Wall of the texture. This is absurd. I have neither heart nor lungs. I was overconfident. Prudent course would have been to wait until I'd calculated an insurmountable advantage. A rash decision, one perhaps influenced by the others and their developments. But no matter, learn from this setback and next time. Next time. How much time and effort did I pour into this master plan? I had it. I had it. At long last, I was to open a new path. Those imbeciles and their damnable heroics. There he is. Detected the stench of failure already, have you? Such a keen sense of smell. Yes. Yes. I will give my report as is protocol. Be sure our winter peers are apprised of the details. Winterer. [Music] Bro, I could barely even make out the asen at all. Suppose that's by design. Not supposed to know. If none shall know eternity, what waits for those who hold the key? Morassens. Who could have seen it coming? Oh my god. Cryle, it is time we began a thorough investigation into the key and its capabilities. I have a feeling we'll be calling on your help in that endeavor. All is said and done. [Music] On a personal note, I should also like to learn more of the Malala. The lore of the forgotten people will be indispensable in furthering my research. Call demonstrated knowledge of both primal summoning and concepts. Discovering such techniques through independent study would be nigh on impossible. So we must assume he had a mentor. But how are we to learn the identity of this beneficent teacher? Hopefully some hint is to be found amongst the remnants of pre preservation's works. How many? There's like three, four Asians left. I can't remember. Spine. I wonder what Otus and Selenia would think of my becoming the queen of Alexandria as it is now. Doubtless they would be pleased. Yet knowing them also beset by worry. As their memory lives on inside me, so shall I strive to rule as if they advised me still with a calm heart and a mind open to counsel. Alfo, I am most curious to see how Alexandria is welcomed upon the broader stage of nations. As a here to for unknown technologically advanced country, I expect it will be met with considerable weariness. I shall do my humble best to ease the tension of the initial introductions. Raha, we've compiled a summary of events and submitted our report to JA. As representatives of the students of Baldesian, our thoughts and findings will also be shared with the forum. In less official matters, I am glad to see Kryle find a satisfying end to her personal journey. though it appears her appetite for asking questions has only been sharpened. Alice, the Alexandrians adopted our techniques so quickly that they no longer need our supervision to treat the enthralled. You'd be surprised at how many porky practitioners we've trained now. Angelo, too, has been looking rather proud of his efforts. Little Angelo. Wow. I did it. That's everything. Let's go to the neonstein, though. See if we ain't got some extra dialogue. [Music] The promise of tomorrow. Shale. With Kafkiwa and Geode gone, I've become the default leader of Oblivion, a role for which I am woefully unsuited. That said, the movement itself has little purpose now that preservation is no more. Once things have settled down, well, once I've stealed myself for it, I should say. I might have to see about restoring my own memories on the quieting old day in day out just concentrated on what's right in front of me till I've crafted a piece I can be proud of. That's what life is all about. Right back to it then. These tools ain't going to hop up and do the job themselves. I have to submit a requisition form for more parts. We're developing new high security arcane circuits. Kefi, dude, might be time for a break. True that man. Six and a half hour stream. We [Music] feel like there's someone else. Oh yeah, that's what I wanted to do. Wanted to go check if there is any updates to Milos and his mother. [Music] I think it's this this lot. H I guess the.3 patch is the one that rounds everything up and pretty much ends the quote unquote post. Hey, what? Isn't it here? Or am I in the wrong section? Maybe I am. It's a little pathway there, but so is there. [Music] I guess that's everything. I hope everyone enjoyed that. What did you guys think of it? Feel free to leave a comment if you like discussing what you thought. Hey, cool. Here it is. It's Adora. Thank you so much for helping us. I considered moving outside the barrier to keep Milos away from the lightning, but in the end, we decided to stay. Even though he'll need regular treatments, he said there were things he wanted to do here in Alexandria. I'm just happy to help him live out his dreams no matter where we are. Milos, my mother is all better. Came by to check on us and we talked about all kinds of things. I told her I wanted to study hard and become a physician now. It made her so happy. Cool. Good for you, kid. Yeah, I guess that's everything. My thoughts. H it was pretty good. I guess in terms of gameplay, I like that section with the uh the the office area floor with the puzzles and whatnot. I mean, they're pretty simple puzzles, but I still enjoyed them. But I also get the feeling that most people probably wouldn't enjoy that type of gameplay. Uh, story-wise, I don't know. It was okay. Can't It's about what I expected, I suppose. I think I'm a little bit disappointed with um what how they handled geode because it's the same as what they've done in the past which is you know just before they kill the character they get you to know him a little bit better rub shoulders with him. So, you know, I guess that that way the sense of loss is a bit greater, but it doesn't feel very impactful when they just do it like literally one quest beforehand. It's kind of like the Moon Breeda situation, but even worse, cuz like Moon Breeda was like, "Hey, here's this new character that we're about to kill off." This was an existing character that we basically have had no dialogue with the entire time. Very scant dialogue. And now it's like, "Oh, we're about to kill him quick. Give him some extra lines. Let's get to know him a bit more. Feels very canned and shitty and not very uh good writing, I guess. But I mean, I'm so used to it now. It's just like whatever. Uh the the tieup was a bit long at the end, but kind of what you expect, I suppose. Does leave for a lot of launch pads into where we can go from here. Although it's just Asens again, which I honestly after Dawn Trail don't mind going back to Asens cuz so far it's been kind of eh. Yeah, I had fun though. I enjoyed it. It was all right. Hope you enjoyed watching it. Let me know what you think in the comments if you want to leave a comment uh or like if you enjoyed it, please. I would appreciate that. or a subscription even. That'd be cool. Anyway, that'll do it for now. GG's. Thank you for watching. I'll see you next time. Tomorrow, I'll be streaming through if anyone's interested in watching that. I'm currently progressing through. We just hit part three like yesterday. Yeah, that's always fun. Anyway, see you later.
