Writing Comparison and Contrast Paragraphs

Key Points to Remember

  1. Choose Related Subjects: Select at least two subjects that are related.
  2. Identify Similarities and Differences: Organize them in a Venn diagram.
  3. Create a Topic Sentence: State the subjects to be compared and contrasted.
  4. Supporting Details: Group similarities and differences logically.
  5. Use Transition Words:
    • Similarities: like, alike, have in common, similar, same.
    • Differences: but, however, while, on the other hand.
  6. Concluding Statement: Summarize the main points or provide a recommendation.

Example of Venn Diagram Application
