Gameplay Structure
Teams
Offense:
5 players (center, quarterback, 3 receivers)
Defense:
Players designated including a blitzer
No special teams (no punts or field goals)
Offensive Play
Starts at own 5-yard line
Four plays to cross midfield for a first down
After midfield, another four plays to score
Offensive plays can be pass or run plays
Quarterback has 7 seconds to release the ball
Receivers need only one foot inbounds on catches
Quarterback cannot advance the ball past the line of scrimmage unless handing it off
Defensive Play
Blitzer designated by raising hand, starts 7 yards back
Other defenders can line up at the line of scrimmage
Only player with the ball can have their flag pulled
No tackling, holding, or stripping the ball
Possession Changes
Drive starts on new offense's 5-yard line after possession change
Interceptions:
If player runs out of bounds or is deflagged, offense starts at that location
Interceptions can be returned for touchdowns
Scoring Extra Points
Extra point from the 5-yard line (must be pass play)
Option for a two-point conversion from the 10 (run or pass)
Important Rules to Remember
No diving, leaping, or jumping to avoid a flag pull (dipping and spinning allowed)
Offensive players without the ball must stop motion once the ball crosses the line of scrimmage
Blocking and screening are prohibited
