evolution of media has four parts or four ages all right let's categorize the first age is called pre-industrial age and the second is the industrial age also we have electronic age and the information age so history and the evolution of media embark in these four ages for today we will begin with our part one pre-industrial age we will be knowing different things that were developed and discovered during the pre-industrial age and how media evolved from this age in the pre-industrial age many significant discoveries and developments were made and it was the start of the remarkable evolution of human lives here we were able to discover fire and develop paper from plants also the people during this time were able to forge weapons and tools using stones wands copper and iron now i will be showing to you the different remarkable materials that the people during the pre-industrial age were able to create now let's begin with the cave paintings alright so it started or it was created during the time of 35 000 bc okay k paintings are also known as game art and many of these paintings and engravings were found in caves which were the shelter of the people dating back to the ice age the first cave painting was from the paleolithic age for stone age it was found in altamira spain and according to the experts it was created by modern line of humans or the homo sapiens many parts of the europe have gay paintings and almost all of these sites were found with this decoration also we have the papers in egypt and it was created during 2500 bc all right and papers is actually a plant and abundantly found in the wilds of egypt this plant is called cyprus paperus cypress paper is still exists in the egypt today but greatly reduced in number okay it is a writing material this papers used to encode religious texts proclamation literature manual scientific discoveries and invention and also medical sex this material is too precious for the egyptians so those only who have mastered the basic form of writing were allowed to practice on a paper's call before and many famous papers are medical texts that accounted immense knowledge of the ancient egypt about how they treated ailments major and minor injuries in life-threatening conditions such as cancer and heart disease they even studied in treated anxiety depression birth control abortion menstrual cramps and even infertility isn't that awesome with the kind of technology in a number of information they possess they were able to give us already a vast contribution to the medical field so that's paper is in egypt we also have the clay tablet in mesopotamia here so it was actually started or people started to create clay tablet during the time of 2400 bc okay and in spurlock museum of world culture at illinois they hold thousands of asian mesopotamians cried tablets the tablets were written in asian languages such as sumerian and acadian and these languages were actually using script famously known as uniform the material used to create clay tablets were clay and reeds the reeds were used as writing implement the tip of the reed was used as stylus to create strokes on the wet clay then to maintain the form of the clay it was either baked in a kiln or dried using sunlight many of these materials were found in parts of beetle ease and these have illustrated the history and the development of the early people in the middle east also we have the octagona in rome okay so the word acta means literally uh things that have done okay so hence akha journal was a gazette of the political and social events done in asian rome or can be also said as the rome's daily events or daily public records the copies of acta journal were carved on stones and metals and these were exhibited in public places some of the contents of octagona were results of legal proceedings or outcomes of trials and some of it were about birth of a prominent person or marriage and even that they recorded using acta journal and that was during 130 bc in rome okay we also have the the bao in china and they were able to start using it during the second century these are reports from the residences and these are also publications that were issued by the central and local government of china this contains the palace reports and the imperial information or bulletins this is considered as one of the oldest newspaper in the world the bao was entrusted to the dean during that time and the d or d i officers uh they were the one who collect the message and these messages were announced by the imperial leaders and they write the messages on a bumble placard or the mass and these messages are called the bow all right so we also have here another important media during that time is what they call the codex in mayan media and it was created during the fifth century codex or codices were the folding books that came from the pre-columbian maya civilization the script utilized was the maya hieroglyphic and it was written on the mesoamerican paper made from a certain tree for its inner bark and a wild fig tree for its main part also they use amateur okay so many of these codices contain glyphs and paintings the inscriptions contains exceptional astronomical tables with outstanding accuracy and religious rituals and other religious references so this uh content of those codex in mayan region and lastly we have the printing press using wood blocks all right and it was created during 220 a.d all right um as believe wood block prints were amongst the oldest printing techniques and the people who made the breakthrough for woodblock printing were the buddhists the first ever woodlock prints were pictures of holy figures whom people call in the time of misfortunes or disaster for them to ask divine interventions or protection also some buddhists have short wood stacks on their wood blocks alright and they carry it as their lucky charm for them to be protected in time of needs all right so this wood block actually use carb and form stamps and seals for them to print something and the wood block printing was done with the use of wood and paper mills the wood block printing press had its significance until the beginning of the 28th century all right so and these are the awesome materials that the people during the time of pre-industrial age we're able to create they're really great right they have contributed a lot in our uh different aspects of life such as in science medicine and religion they have contributed and documented a lot of information about them and because of that we were able to develop a lot more of our technologies and media and we will be knowing more of the evolution of india in our next episode this is just a part one we will be having four parts for the different ages see you in our next episode about evolution of media from traditional to new media this is fire on the table for for today [Music] [Music] oh [Music]
