Resurrection of Jesus and Sabbath Observance

is Paul preaching about the resurrection of Jesus yes he is when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them when the next Sabbath it's either they Mis understood what Paul was preaching about or the resurrection of Jesus has nothing to do with Sunday being a new Sabbath is this saying Jesus's light should be manifested in our body did Jesus Keep The Commandments of God [Music] yeah he also spoke about um the resurrection of Jesus and I want to talk about that real quick what is the point what was the point of Jesus's resurrection Romans chap 6:1 what shall we say then shall we continue in sin that Grace May abound God forbid how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Christ were baptized into his what help me out here Brethren into his death therefore we are buried with him by what Randy baptism by baptism into death and like as Christ was raised from the dead The Glory by the glory of the father even so we also should walk in newness of Life what was the purpose of the resur of the resurrection of Christ was to teach us that we should also be buried with Christ the old man should be buried and we should be raised up again to live in the newness of life just as Christ rose again from the grave amen right and now what does this newness of life actually look like let's go to Romans chapter 8 now two chapters over Romans chapter 8 it says there is therefore now no condemnation who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus had made me free from the law of sin and death for what the law could not do and that it was weak through the flesh God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh now verse four is the key that the righteousness of the what law La of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit verse five for they that are after The Flesh do mind the things of the flesh but the they that are after the spirit the things of the spirit for for to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace but the carnal mind is enmity against God for it is not subject to what it is not subject to the law of God so what does neither can be what does it mean to walk in newness of life fashioning after the example of Christ raising up from the dead it means that we walk according to the Commandments we walk according to the spirit and the spirit implores us to keep the Ten Commandments of God does that make sense now was the Sabbath one of those Ten Commandments yeah it was and now I'm going to show you guys examples of people who still kept the seventh day Sabbath after Jesus's resurrection let's go to the Book of Luke chapter 23 Luke 23 let's go to verse 56 I know this is one of ry's favorite verses it says so this is after um Jesus died and they were going to go and bomb his body and it says and they returned and prepared spices and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the Commandment right now some people might say well yeah Jesus had just died a day ago of course they would still be keeping the Sabbath because they had no concept of Jesus's resurrection but keep in mind who's writing this who who's writing the Book of Luke dumb question who's writing the Book of Luke I think a guy named Luke guy named Luke right but Luke is writing this about 70 AD around that time between the years 60 to 70 AD so Luke is actually writing this about 30 years after the resurrection of Jesus and here Luke is calling it the Commandment still they rested on day according to the Commandment now let's go to the Book of Matthew 24 what did Jesus say himself Matthew 24:15 it says this wherefore Ye Ye when ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the Prophet stand in the Holy place whosoever readeth let him understand then then let them which be in Judea flee to the mountains let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes and woe unto them which are with child and to them that give suck in those days and pray that your flight be not in the winter neither on the Sabbath day what is Jesus talking about right here there was something coming that they had to be prepared for and that thing that was coming was the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD so 40 years after the resurrection of Jesus he's telling them pray that your flight is not in the winter or on the Sabbath day now some people might say you you'll hear critics argue against this and say well this is because on the Sabbath day the Gates of Jerusalem were closed but let's go back to verse 16 what does verse 16 say it says then let them which are in what Judea let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains so this is not just speaking about Jerusalem only where the gates will be closed but this is actually also speaking about Judea where they would also be keeping the Sabbath on that day now let's go to the book of Acts let's go to the book of Acts um let's go to verse uh chapter 13 verse 37 and please do not miss this point right please do not miss this point let's let's actually start from verse 36 I'm going to give you a little bit of context so Paul in this context he's preaching but pay attention to what Paul is preaching about verse 36 for David after he had served his own Generation by the will of God fell on what he fell on asleep fell on asleep keep keep that in mind and was laid unto his fathers and saw no corruption but he whom God raised again saw what saw no corruption Yeah question Jason David saw corruption Jesus did not see corruption right what is Paul preaching about the resurrection of Jesus yes he is yes Paul guys keep that in mind Paul is preaching about the resurrection of Jesus but now let's go to verse 42 and when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them when the next Sabbath the next Sabbath now I want you guys to understand something if the Sabbath day or if Jesus's resurrection meant that the new Sabbath was on Sunday that if I were Paul in this verse I would give myself the biggest face palm I just preached to you guys about the resurrection of Jesus and you guys are telling me to come back next Saturday to preach to you again did you not hear anything that I just said the resurrection of Jesus is about Sunday being the new Sabbath but they said no come back the next Saturday it's either they misunderstood what Paul was preaching about or the resurrection of Jesus has nothing to do with Sunday being a new Sabbath those are the only two options one more verse and then I'll be quiet let's go to Acts chapter 18 can we go to the book of Acts chapter 18 and let's start at verse four so it says and he being Paul once again Paul reasoned in the synagogue every when Sabbath every Sabbath and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks now let's go to verse 11 let's go to verse 11 keep in mind everyone that Paul is preaching to these guys about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and this is what he says and he continued there how long a year and six months teaching the word of God among them Paul was preaching to these people about the resurrection of Jesus every Sabbath for a year and six months you mean to tell me that they couldn't get it in a year and six months that the resurrection of Jesus had to do it Sunday and I did the math how many sabbaths are in a year and six months do you know how many sabbaths are in a year and six months 72 sabbaths so Paul was there for for 72 Sabbath straight preaching about the resurrection of Christ and he did it every Sabbath day so once again it's either they had no idea or they misunderstood or it had nothing to do with Sunday being a new Sabbath anybody else want to I mean I think after that we should just go home that's just good stuff that's good stuff I mean what is left to say after [Applause] [Laughter] that so yeah all right friends I I think we'll we I mean I mean I mean I guess we'll keep going on but like we're done here like I I think we're done here because like he was preaching the resurrection of Jesus Christ every week and not once did he say hey guys Sunday we should honor that day now because that's the day of his resurrection not once in that year and a half more importantly would not have been would not have been beneficial for the writers of the cannon to actually add that in there just even if you're saying okay to say one-on-one but I mean I think that would be good for the benefit of you know surrounding Generations or succeeding Generations you know after him so I I I think it would help a lot but you know that's excellent that's an excellent point Deontay I'll add a couple more verses so Romans chapter 3 ver 31 right this is what it is right we are justified by by faith right you know for by the laws and sin right we are like for all have sin and come short of the go glory of God I think Romans chapter 3 uh makes it very clear that you know we're Justified freely by his grace through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus we are justified by faith right but how does Romans chapter 3 end says in verse 28 therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the Deeds of the law true do we then make void the law through faith God forbid yay we establish the law this is something that most most of our our friends Evangelical friends they they just don't get or don't agree with this verse it seems because it says like with faith in Jesus through faith in Jesus we don't get rid of the law we don't make void the law we establish the law that means the things that the law says to do we do them and let's look behind the surface of what these mean in the Greek do we make void the law G 2673 it's the word cardig right it says do we abolish the law do we nullify the law do we do away with the law do we cause it to fade away to cause it to be released to be abolish abolish abolishing bring to an end do we bring to an end the law did away with do away with done away done away with render powerless the answer is God forbid do we make it an idle law do we make it inoperative or inactive God forbid do we cause the law to cease God forbid like you get all the point do we cause the law to be void God forbid we establish the law what does it mean to establish the law now g247 6 it says to cause the thing to stand to cause or make to stand to place to put set right to bid to stand in the presence of others in the midst before judges before members of the Sanhedrin to place to make firm we make the law firm we fix we establish it here it is to cause a person or a thing in this case a thing to keep its place to stand to be kept intact yeah kept intact meaning not one jot or tit yeah is escaping from it the law is kept intact to uphold to Asain The Authority or force of anything we keep the law now I'm going to go back to Romans chap 6 you read verses 1-4 I'm going to read verses 12-8 this is what it says it says let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body what is sin guys the transgression of the law that you should obey the lust thereof neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness Unto sin but yield your servants unto God as those that are alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God for sin shall not have dominion over you you are not under the law true we're not under the law we're under Jesus Christ we follow him but under grace what then what shall we shall we sin shall we transgress the law no because we are not under the law but under grace God forbid know ye not to whom you yield yourself servants to obey his servants you are to whom you obey whether of sin unto death what is sin trans ressing the law of God thou shall have no other gods before me I transgress that I'm sinning I'm going to die thou shall not bow down to uh Idols I transgress that I'm sinning I'm going to die thou shall not take God's name in vain I transgress that I'm sinning I will die remember the Sabbath to keep it holy I transgress that I'm sinning I'm going to die that's what he said in Exodus chapter 31 if you don't keep this you will die remember your honor your father and mother if I transgress that I'm sinning I'm going to die that's what this is all about Sin but God be thank that you were the Servants of sin all those things killing stealing lying you know adultery all those things we were the Servants of sin but you have obeyed from the heart that form of Doctrine which was delivered to you being then made free from sin you became the Servants of righteousness we are desing righteousness righteousness is doing what God says y just so that we can just confirm that this is what it says what is righteousness we are serving righteousness right righteousness Psalms 119 verse 172 says this my tongue shall speak of Thy word for all thy Commandments are righteousness if we're going to be living righteously we're going to be living based on God's Commandments yep Galatians Chapter 2 this is another verse that sometimes critics like to use or people who believe these type of things like to use knowing that a man is not justified by The Works of the law but by the faith of Jesus Christ even we have believed in Jesus Christ that we might be justified by the Faith of Christ and not by The Works of the law for by The Works of the law shall no flesh be justified amen we're only justified by Jesus Christ faith in Jesus Christ to be exact but if while we seek to be justified by Christ Christ we ourselves are also found what sinners sinners what is a sinner someone who transgresses God's law yeah is therefore Christ the minister of sin is Christ teaching you know what you don't have that jot or tit in the law matter of fact a whole Commandment that whole fourth Commandment you don't have to do that anymore that's it is Christ therefore the minister of sin God forbid this is what the Bible says as a matter of fact let's go a little bit deeper second 2 Corinthians chapter 4 this is what it says in verses uh 10 and 11 it says this always bearing about the body in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body what is this saying Jesus's life should be manifested in our body that Jesus Keep The Commandments of God yeah if his life is being manifested in my body shouldn't I be keeping the Commandments of God as he did yes for we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus's sake that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh what was the life of Jesus according to the Bible what would you have found Jesus doing on the Sabbath day and he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up and as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up forth to read that was Jesus's custom and if his life is going to be manifested in our lives his Customs will be our custom and that's why why it says in Acts chap 17:2 it's I'm in chapter 7 17:2 and Paul as his manner was his custom went into them and three Sabbath days reason with them out of the scriptures his custom was a custom that follow after the pattern of Jesus why shouldn't ours y Isaiah 42: 21 this is what it says about Jesus Christ and friends we need to take sin very very seriously we have to keep very simple sin is the transgression of the law the Lord is well pleased for his righteousness sake talking about Jesus he will magnify the law and make it honorable Jesus said of his own words I'm not here to destroy the law he was his purpose was to magnify the law to show the depth the beauty of it right he says think not that I'm come to destroy the law or the prophets I'm not come to destroy but to fulfill for verily I say unto you till Heaven and Earth pass one J or one till shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled whosoever therefore shall break one of these least Commandments and the last days the least commandment is the Sabbath in the eyes of many but Jesus's word says who shall ever break the least of these Commandments and shall teach men though he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven but whosoever shall do and teach them the same Shall be Called great in the Kingdom of Heaven for I say unto you that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees you shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven Jesus was not taking away any portion of the Commandments of God he was magnifying them
