foreign leggings and I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority Incorporated [Music] sword Incorporated was founded in on January 16th 19th on the campus of Howard University by five women who we call the five birth I want to become a member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority Incorporated because their motto at the time was quality over quantity so they really look for women who exemplify finer Womanhood so that was one of the main reasons why I wanted to become a member of Zeta Phi Beta I also encountered a few Zetas on campus when I started at Miles College so they were really they really impressed me so I made a decision to become a member from State Department [Music] scholarship service and Sisterhood uh we are very Community act oriented where we do a lot in this community uh one of the programs that I really enjoyed was the March of Dimes because of the March of Dimes we help out little babies so that was one thing that really drew me to say [Music] yes absolutely um it did teach me a lot about being a woman and how I should carry myself it also taught me a lot about service and how to service a serve others um so I currently am instilling that role helping others and working with children so it has really had a huge impact on my life one thing to do teach me that uh diversity is real you have to uh kind of acclimate to different people so uh being around different personalities and getting to have to have different sisterhoods with different systems of all ethnic backgrounds I learned to uh dive into the diversity variable because there's a lot but I would say um across from the burner scenes that's when we cross over into the Zeta sister hood that was a very intense fun exciting night for me and also participating in my very first step show was something that I really enjoyed when I became a city [Music] I do because it is a Sisterhood that we will always share with you my sorority systems or my line sisters I still have great relationships with them one is actually my best friend we still talk every single day um and then even with our Brotherhood I did not make sure the only sorority that is constitutionally bound to the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity Incorporated so we are the only two brothers and sisters [Music] I would actually ask you to do your research um because one thing that did draw me to it which a lot of people don't like to speak about there was this thing back in the day that was called a brown paper bag and if your skin did not read if you're not lighter than the bag or if you're darker than a bag you are not allowed into different sororities in fraternities even universities and churches so that was one reason why the sisters decided to find or find an organization where everybody would be included no matter your complexion your race or anything like that so that's one thing do you research not to do in the shade or any other organization because they now accept everybody so that was one thing that did draw me today but do your research and follow your heart oh gosh that's a good question how Inspire others to let them know that they could not fail in anything the Legacy that I would like behind would be that I stood for service serving others um of loving others um helping others I guess that's a part of service but um I just want people to know that you can do anything you put your mind to if you put God first and you believe in your heart everything that he says that you can accomplish with him first in your life so putting God first especially for young black women come anything that you put your mind to um if you work hard and believe in yourself you can accomplish everything that your heart desires [Music] Alex involvement today would be that I entered back into college at my age um just to show my daughter and other young women and men that you can accomplish any goal that she set out at any age just put your mind to it work hard and you can accomplish it period period [Music] mama uh and she told me to always always put God first and everything will work out believe in him and put him first and everything will follow into God Faith uh has helped me to know again that I can do all things um even the smallest things that I put my mind to if I believe it and I know that God is there and it's ordained by him and I understand that whatever it is that it's gonna work out for my good and whatever plan that he's put in my faith is so strong that I know that whatever I go through it may feel rough at the time but I know that God has something great in store for me I believe what his word says so just um and now it takes a little bit like the Bible says if you have the faith of a mustard seed that's all that you need and that's all that I need and I have grown so much [Music]
