in the past eight years I've released four videos on DRM showing you how to remove DRM protection from your purchase books the last one was made in December 2019 so over 4 years right now I didn't review this process for quite a while and the time came now to update it and see if it's still possible to remove the RM protection from books spoiler it definitely is now you may wonder why anyone would want to remove DRM protection C from your books well there are a few reasons one of them is being able to convert them to different format like PDF or word and read them on other devices like your laptop phone or a competitor's eBook reader also in case the servers are down or the publisher stops providing your purchase books via Cloud you can always have a backup locally on your hard drive having these two main ones out of the way let's dive into how to remove DRM protection step one is to download and install the latest version of calibra application onto your Windows or Mac the link to calibra is in the description step two download the DRM plugin for calibra the link to the plugin is also in the description once you download the plugin unzip the main folder only step three open caliber application and install the plugin go to preferences then plug plugins and load plugin from file select the zip file called ddmore plugin you're going to see a warning which is completely fine just proceed and hit yes once done restart your caliber application at this stage we have our caliber application ready with the plugin that will do the heavy work for Kindle books we will also need to add Kindle serial number as well let me show you how open calibra go to preferences then plugins and double click on your DDM plug-in name click on Kindle eink eBooks and you should place the Kindle serial number there once that's done close the windows okay so now we're ready to remove DRM protection for Kindle purchase books your best bet is to download your purchased Kindle book to do that go to Amazon.com or amazon.co.uk go to manage your content and devices then go to your books select more actions next to the book of your choice and click on download and transfer via USB you should see a book being downloaded to your downloads folder that's great once the book is downloaded open calibra and drag and drop the book into calibra the ddrm plugin will automatically strip DRM protection from the book and you will be able to open it within C you can immediately also convert the book to PDF Word document or any other format that caliber allows you to this video took me quite a while to make so if it was useful to you and allowed you to save some time please like And subscribe to the channel if you're an ebook reader like myself you may benefit by hitting that notification Bell as I will be releasing more eBook reader content in the future for now thanks for watching and I will see you in the next one did you subscribe already did you you make sure you do I punched myself
