Translated by Souk (@someoneuknow04_ IG) Hey hey everyone! I'll be making another super cheesy and fatty meal today :)) H-Hooray? This french fry and cheese sauce recipe is from these guys and I made some adjustments to my taste: @The Terrace Kitchen @مطبخ دارنا @Kusina ni Lola @매일맛나 delicious day. Go and check them out :) I'll start with peeling 800g of potatoes, you can use 1kg or more if you like. Even if you store them away in the fridge it's still really good :) After that, start cutting them into strips about 1 - 1.5 cm thick. I learnt how to cut them in square strips so it's prettier :)) The thinner it is, the crunchier it gets. Thiccer pieces is crunchy outside and soft inside. Remember to put your cut potatoes into a bowl of water to prevent discoloring After you're done, let it soak in a bowl of water for 30min. This helps to get all of the extra starch out of the potatoes :) Don't leave it in there for over 20-30min, though :) I'll pretend to read a book for the aesthetics :D Plus I look smarter so you can simp for me :)) But I'm actually pretty dumb :)) After that, strain the potatoes and wash them a few times again with water Next, get some water with a bit of salt and get it on the stove. Then throw all of your neatly shaped potatoes into the pot :) Boil it until the water starts boiling, cook them for 5 more minutes for the potatoes to cook a bit Oops get back here :)) Only start your timer for 5min after it starts to boil, not from the start when it hasn't fully boiled. Your actions your consequences :)) This step will help the french fries become crunchier when done. But you guys are impatient and lazy so you can skip it :) Strain the potatoes when they're done boiling. Spread the potatoes on a tray so they can dry. Use a paper towel to speed up the process Once they have dried, put them in a bowl or a plastic bag if you don't care about the turtles and the future of this planet :) Pour in 20g of cornstarch and start shaking the bowl for the starch to stick on the potato sticks If the starch layer is too thicc, just remove the extra part Now, put a pan with high walls or a pot on the stove. Pour in a generous amount of oil into your pan And now we wait :) When the oil is really hot, you can now say goodbye to your potato strips and say hello to oil splashes and 1st degree burns :)) Fry them on medium high heat. Because we have slightly cooked the potatoes before, we only need to make them crunchy on the outside Cook them for about 5-8min until the potatoes have fully cooked, the outside layer scrunches up a bit and turns a white-ish color Take them all out and spread them evenly on a tray so it cools down easier I'll be making the cheese dip while waiting I'll start with boiling some butter, any kind will do After the butter have melted, I'll add in 5g of flour of any kind and mix it I'll also be adding in ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp chili powder You can adjust this to your liking After mixing the spices in (do it quickly or it'll burn), pour in 100ml of unsweetened milk And a dash of pepper. It seems like I ran out of pepper so the jar only gave me the outside layer of the pepper D: I swear this is actually pepper :)) Next ingredient is 70g of Cheddar which can be found in a lot of supermarkets. You can also use cheese for sandwiches and burgers (American cheese) as a substitute And here's me being dumb and forgetting 10g of sugar :)) You should add that with the rest of the spices earlier and don't forget it like me :) Boil it on low heat until it turns into a thick consistency like in the video. You're done when the air bubbles appear really slowly The consistency is pretty thicc like this :) The color of the cheese will be really pretty too When you're done with the cheese sauce, the potatoes wil probably have cooled down so prepare for frying :) Heat up the oil as much as you can. We need it to be REALLY hot so it can crunch up the potatoes Fry it for 4-6 minutes and give it a stir once in a while until the potatoes turn golden or it floats up It depends on how crunchy you want them to be, but remember to only take them out when they're crumchy like mine. They look so good, right? :) You can tell that they are super crunchy by the sound of them rub agaisnt each other :) Sprinkle some parsley for the aesthetic :) Super important step, indeed :)) Look at how the cheese dip stretches, it looks so delicious :( The potatoes are perfectly crisp on the outside and is super soft on the inside With the slightly sweet and savoury cheese dip, this dish is a must :) It's so crunchy and so delicious :) Even just as delicious as me right here :)) Fried food have to be paired with some cold soda :)) The super unhealthy but super comforting and tasty food duo :( Everyone's gotta admit that even if these dishes have an unhealthy amount of oil and sugar, you still crave it whenever you realize your crush doesn't like you back :)) You just can't resist the temptation :)) Oh fried food my beloved :)) It's ok though as fine as you enjoy the food and I pray that you can temporarily forget about the problems in your lovelife while eating :)) See? No one's as good as good ol' me right here :)) Then don't forget to share this video so everyone can cry with you and eat this delicious dish :)) Don't forget to subscribe to support us :) Tysm and bai baiiii~~
