Setting Up a User
If the app is new, it starts with a startup wizard. Otherwise, add a user manually.
Use the cog icon to access the user menu.
Steps to create a user:
Type the user name and select their language (e.g., English United States).
Select and test different voices.
Vocabulary and Grid Settings
Default vocabulary: Crescendo (core-based).
Vocabulary levels: Intermediate core recommended for most users.
Grid sizes: Large grid = small buttons, Small grid = large buttons.
Choose a grid size based on user's ability to see and access buttons.
Core Vocabulary
Core words make up 80% of communication and remain in the same location for motor memory.
Fringe vocabulary is context-specific and complements core words.
Tour of the Screen
Message Bar: Type and speak messages.
Top Menu: Displays current page, home button, and navigation arrows.
Tools Pop-up: Options for message bar (copy, clear, add), search, typing, recents, and explore.
Options Menu
Accessed via the cog icon.
Help section: Extensive in-app help with tutorials.
User Management: Switch between different user setups easily.
Appearance: Customize message window, toolbars, view, buttons, and symbols.
Speech and Language: Adjust voice settings, speech rate, and pitch.
Grammar Support: Enables grammatical adjustments for words and sentences.
Access Methods: Direct access (touch), switch access settings.
Interaction: Manage repetitive button pressing and message window behavior.
Backup Services: Ensure data is backed up via Dropbox or Google Drive.
Editing Mode
Accessed via the pencil icon.
Move, swap, and create new buttons and folders.
Customize buttons with sound effects, voices, and colors.
Link to existing folders or create new activity folders with templates to maintain core vocabulary consistency.
Split Screen Feature
Allows Proloquo2Go to be used alongside other apps for teletherapy or distance learning.
Not all iPads or apps may support split-screen.
