Overview
Function
: Home-use device for sleep studies
Purpose
: Collect data on sleep breathing disorders to help doctors determine appropriate treatments
Pre-Setup Instructions
Allocate
5-10 minutes
before bedtime for assembly
Apply the device
directly before bed
Wear it
throughout your sleep
Wear until you get out of bed to start the day
Components
Alice PDX device holder and lanyard
(with blue chest effort belt attached)
Abdominal belt and wire set
Thermal airflow sensor
(monitors airflow from nose/mouth)
Nasal cannula
(evaluates breathing, checks for snoring)
SPO2 sensor
(measures oxygen levels during sleep)
Assembly Steps
Remove the device from holster
:
Face device toward you
Place thumb on lower corner of holster
Press down until holster snaps loose
To place back, snap both sides securely
Assemble the device
:
Check blue chest effort belt; slide through slots if not in place
Place lanyard over head & around neck, adjust the length
Adjust chest belt: position holder in upper chest area, snap belt ends together
Wrap abdominal belt around stomach, connect ends near navel
Ensure belts aren’t too loose
Insert the Alice PDX device into holder, ensure tabs snap
Connecting Sensors
:
Turn on power button inside device; circular icons move across screen
Insert abdominal belt wires into ports, blue connector into lower blue port
Insert chest belt wires into ports, blue connector into upper blue port
Apply nasal cannula: prongs in nose, wire over ears, secure under chin; attach to gray port
Position thermal airflow sensor: on lip/below nose, wire over ears & secure; attach to purple port
Attach SPO2 sensor (clip, soft, or wrap style) to index finger; secure wire with tape; connect to black port
If included, apply limb movement sensor to wrist; connect to yellow port
Additional Instructions
Light Indicators
:
Top device light: Turns yellow to green when sensors correctly attached
Green light turns off after few seconds
Button Presses
:
Before sleep: Press front button once
Getting up during night: Press front button again once
Connector becomes detached: Yellow light flashes, reconnect loose sensor
Post-Study Instructions
:
Morning: Press front button once upon waking
Record good study indicator results (number of sections filled)
Turn off device: Press power button for ~3 seconds
Remove sensors and return equipment as per provider’s instructions
