some people will call system copy some people call system refresh some people will call a DB refresh what is exactly system copy creating a duplicate system creation of a exactly similar system just like your system is called as a system you are copying a you're building a new system by using existing systems database building a new system building a new system by using existing systems database is called as system copy what is the need of building a new system by using existing systems or database for example I am having my development system so the implementation the first thing the first system what you build is your development system right after doing all your developments we install a quality system and move all this developer efforts from development to Quality there we do testing if everything goes fine then we will move that content to then we'll build a new system called production system we move all this content to Quality to production then we need to start a business on system quality system and production system your business is running on your production system you want to upgrade your system to ECC system to s4hana so what are the problems you'll get well updating your system directly you cannot start on development so for that what we do we'll create a system called POC system proof of concept system before doing anything to your real landscape what we do we build a new system exactly similar to your production system out of your landscape your development not development quality production by using this production as a database we build a new system that system is called as POC system will do is foreign called POC system proof of concept system this system is ec6 ehp now I am updating this system to s4hana some 1909 then first I'll build that system by building that system whatever the problems are coming I'll solve all the problems I'll make a document of that and I have some meetings with my organizations within the organization I'll finish that installation upgradation then based on these experiences the what are the problems you got the same system your development quality and production also same similar type of systems right then you do the quality system third time you are doing upgradation so you know what are the problems will arise while doing this ehp this s4hana upgradation so you will be ready with all the solutions for that finally you take down time for your production you will do as soon as possible why you already have experience for these three systems and you have resolutions ready with you then we do the update of our production system for this reason we need to build a new system by using existing systems database so this is called as system copy system copy is what building a new system by using existing systems or database not installing a new system installing a new system is a plain sap system you don't have your business data in that you don't have your changes your modifications will enhance nothing if you use existing systems database you will be having your business data there you'll be having all your development changes right everything whatever you move to production having my development system this is development database this is quality database this is production database and I am building a new system by using production systems or database so this is my test system or any POC system or any new training system this is called as system copy so I have three existing systems here by using this existing system database I am building the new system so here how export backup now take a new system install operating system first then do prerequisites your fresh installation prerequisites then install the database software database only software then start as wpm choose net fever 7.4 database Oracle choose Oracle database then system copy now Target system Target system now it will ask you for sap excerpt give that they say the soft face which you get from sap helper everything finally and it will install the application escs and PAs and at the time of database instance installation it will ask you for exports if it is a fresh installation it will ask have this export file you copied this file to this new systems PRD export file just to give that location it will read the data and it will build your system the new installation will be done at the time of this installation you give new Sid for this Sid this PRD when you started this swpm it will ask you for Sid you will give what Sid pocsid okay instance number zero zero hostname this host is different so the exact similar kind of system will be created with Sid different Sid different host name different application servers everything is different but the data the both the systems are equal systems yes or no yes this is called system copy why we need to build a system copy means for training purpose for POC system for testing purpose whatever your requirement if you want to build a new system use the method called system copy how we are doing this system copy by using which tool you are doing which tool you are doing the system swpm swpm software provisioning manager this method is also called as R3 load method R3 load method why we are calling it as R3 load method means this swpm will load the objects into the database by using r3load.exe executable file the same way you database now it will ask you for one thing called migration key migration key you will get this migration key from sap Service Marketplace from Service Marketplace you have to request for migration key we are moving from Oracle database to Hana database so they will generate a key and that key they'll give you some numeric and alphabetical key will be there that key they will give you you have to paste that key here for example that key is some something called xso one two three that key you pasted here now what this system this is wpm will do it will go take this Oracle files and convert this files into Hana supported formats and it will ask you for a location what location some file I'll give PRD exports this location I'll get a export right it will convert swpm will convert this Oracle supported files into Hana format fine I finished it here now take a new system and install operating system then install database which database you need to install now Hana database you need to install Hana database now after that you need to start is wpm here select the system copy Target system [Music] okay and it will ask you for your Sid Sid as POC and it will ask you for your instance number or host name everything finally it will comes to exports export space at export space What You Do already you copied this file to this system PRD exports just to give that one export not three it won't ask you for that three installation exports this export file it will ask give that export your system will build what is this called the first one is called as homogeneous system copy homogeneous means same OS same database if you are sourced and Target is having same operating system same database then that is called as homogeneous system copy the both methods are system copy only but this method is called as heterogeneous system copy heterogeneous system copy means if the source and Target is having at least one thing different whether it operating system array database now what is difference here so it is called as heterogeneous system copy heterogeneous system copy only the difference is it will ask you for migration key it will ask you for migration key if it is a softwares views all the softwares except this exports we start as wpm we will choose system Copy Source system and we create our own exports right we are exporting Source systems database 215 okay we use that exports at the time of Target system build instead we don't give this exports if you go with the fashion installation it will ask you for three exports export one export two and Export three but if you are choosing system copy option it won't ask you for export fund export to and Export thing it will ask you for only one experts which you backed up from your Source system that is difference between your fresh installation and system copy only we don't use this exports instead everything we give it is nothing but building a new system almost but at the time of exports we are nothing but building a new system by using existing systems or database that is called as system copy that system copy is two types what are they homogeneous system copy second one is heterogeneous system homogeneous system copy second one is heterogeneous system copy how you do homogeneous system copy how you do heterogeneous system homogeneous system copy we can perform in two ways one method you know R3 load method just now we have seen just start as wpm select Source system and do export and take a Target system install operating system into the same database and say system copy Target system and give that export that will be done that is R3 load method homogeneous system heterogeneous system copy the same method but at the time of exporting it will ask you for Target system database or an operating system same data same operating system and different database our same database different operating system it will ask you for migration key just you give migration free you will get from sap and it will convert that files to Target systems or database and operating system format everything you say only the difference is migration key that is what homogeneous system copy production system as I created I developed one program and my development system okay for testing purpose I have to move that program to Quality system in quality system do I have any business data my quality system do I have any business data in my quality system no no that is the reason in client when we are creating quality client we use one setting called cat me cat to generate some dummy application dummy application data means business data to generate some dummy application data we use that script and we generate some dummy application data dummy business data for example if I give employee as acid it will create as in one yes in two as in three like that as in hundred Essence it will create means 100 users data it will create by using that dummy data I'll give that for example you are creating a program called employee payroll I give this 100 people's 100 employees dummy data as an input for that program and I'll execute that okay it executed successfully it gave me the result then what I do I'll move that program to it is tested right tested okay then I'll move that program to my production system but I'm production system I'm having my original employee's data I have some 10 000 employees there you tested that program with 100 employees data now on production system I am having 1000 real-time employees if I run payroll report of 1000 employees that program is not executing successfully in the middle it is giving you the above the what could be the reason we created and development we ran that program and quality and it's successful that is the reason I moved that program to production for my business use but now that program is not executing properly what could be the reason so to fetch this 100 people's data that memory is sufficient okay it is giving you the report is it but on production to fetch this 100 pupils data it is taking High resource utilization CPU utilization hard discretulation memory utilization huge amount of data some parameters are restricting your memory parameters are restricting that is the reason it is giving you there so for every program this is happening then why what is the usage of having quality system where everything is getting rejected on production so when you move that program to production it has to work well there also while that program is already executed successfully and quality it is okay and tested well what is the use of having quality system with me when it is going on production everything is failing your basic thing is missing here what is that the amount of data in your quality the amount of business application data in quality is less when compared to production so what we do generally in organizations for every quarterly wake up we backup our production data and restore into quality for example my production is having this is my production system this is my quality system both are existing systems only here I am not building a new system already both the systems are system copy means build I'm building a new system but in this scenario my quality is existing system only my development is existing system quality is existing system production also existing system what I do same database same operating system everything is same I'll take backup of my production database by using VR tools you know backup restore concept right by using VR tools or any third party tool I am taking the backup of my production for example my production is having one TV business date okay I restore that same data into my quality now both the systems are having same data equal into Data now I'll run on program one quality with 20 000 employees data is there okay it gets successful there then 98 percentage of chances are there that it will get successful and production also yes or no yes yes that is the reason for quarterly basis based on your data based growth some people will do this activity for quarterly some people will do monthly some people will do this activity for six months if your data growth size is high data footprint growth rate is high then we do frequently if it is very less daily 100 MB data 200 MB data is increasing then we do for three months or six months or not equal entity data almost equivalent why I backed up I restore into this but this data is continuously growing now your production database data but it will be almost equivalent this is 1.1 TB this is 1 TB tomorrow this is one day one point one One DB one more point one two TB after three months this will be 1.35 TB this will be one TV then I'll do again I take the backup of production database and restore into this now both are 1.1 1.5 DB for three months this will be 1.5 DB this will be slowly slowly slowly growing almost not equivalent almost equivalent data where I have we are measuring in our quality system and protection system right for that reason we have to backup our production data and restore into quality here we are not using any swpm tool we are using bare tools if your database is Oracle we are using VR tools if your database is Hana database we are using Hana Studio or Hana cockpit to take the backup and to restore the same VR tools Studio this method is called as backup restore method backup R3 load method means using swpm this method is what backup restore method when you can use this backup restore method if there are two systems should be existing systems then only you can take the backup from one system and restore into another system take for example if I don't have this system I take the backup of this system where I need to restore I can't restart by using VR tools or a Hana studio right so in this method is called as system refresh refresh means I'm refreshing Quality Systems data for each and every three months I am refreshing the database of quality by using backup restore method this is also called a system copy only but if you do if you use backup and restore method that is called as system refresh if you build a new system by using existing system database then you call it as system copy okay I'll come to that see system copy is two types first thing homogeneous system copy heterogeneous system you know the difference if the source operating system in the database and the target operating system and the database are same then you perform homogeneous system please quite [Music] if the source operating system in the database and the target operating system in the database are different then we perform heterogeneous system copy so if you're building a new system with already existed by using production system you are using a new system POC system our tester system or training system then we use homogeneous system copy our three load method if the same osm database if the different os are different database we use heterogeneous system copy method both are same R3 load methodology this is what what so I am having three systems development quality and production I'm building a new system for building new system I use swpm tool but this scenario is different already I'm having my development system quality system and production system I am not building a new system just taking the backup of my protection system and restoring into my Quality Systems database I am refreshing quality database this is called as system refresh using backup restore method system refresh also homogeneous only how homogeneous so my databases Oracle if I take the backup of Oracle database and where I need to restore into save Oracle database then only it will support if I am having Hana database in quality Oracle in production system will it work take the backup of Oracle and restore into Hana will it work will it work if I take the backup from Oracle database and restore into 100 database will it work no no that is the reason homose heterogeneous system copy don't have backup restore method only for homogeneous system copy backup restore method means when you use backup digital method if you want to copy production data and paste into quality then use backup restore method when you use our three load method if you want to build a new system exactly like a production system non-existing system then use R3 load method for heterogeneous system copy to build a new system with the different database or different OS use swpm method for backup restore method heterogeneous system copy no not possible you take the backup of Oracle database and restore into Hana no not possible so backup restore method is only suitable for homogeneous system copy if you perform homogeneous system copy using backup restore method that is also called as system refresh system refresh is nothing new it is system copy only if you perform system copy which system copy homogeneous system copy by using with method or backup restore method then that is called as system refresh so the people will confuse system copy system refresh DB refresh everything is system copy only if you use backup restore method that is called as system refresh if you use R3 Road method that is called as as R3 node as the homogeneous system copy using swpm method if you use if you build a ways homogeneous system copy heterogeneous system copy homogeneous means if the source operating system and database in Target operating system and database same then we perform homogeneous system copy if any one of operating system or databases change for Source interior then we perform heterogeneous system copy how many ways we can perform heterogeneous system homogeneous system copy by using backup restore method we can do by using R3 load method also we can do and we can use R3 copy processor also but nobody is using this method now this absolute two ways we can perform homogeneous system copy but heterogeneous system copy only one method what is that method R3 load method it needs migration key can we perform backup restore method for a heterogeneous system copy no no only R3 export create a export of Hana supported export that is the reason you have to give migration key where here itself so migration next install take a new system install operating system and install a database then run swpm choose ECC 6.0 ECC 6.0 okay system copy or good Target system it will ask you for Sid instance number or host name and it will ask you for all that software exe dots are exe DB memory is sufficient okay it is giving you the report is it but on production to fetch this 100 pupils data it is taking High resource utilization CPU utilization hard discretulation memory utilization huge amount of data some parameters are restricting your memory parameters are restricting that is the reason it is giving you there so for every program this is happening then why what is the usage of having quality system where everything is getting rejected on production so when you move that program to production it has to work well there also while that program is already executed swpm here first then uh then ECC 6.0 choose a then system copy now Source system now it will ask you for what is your target systems operating system and database you say windows and Hana database then what it will do it will create this or it will take this Oracle files and create a export create a export of Hana supported export that is the reason you have to give migration key where here itself so migration next install take a new system install operating system and install a database then run swpm choose ECC 6.0 ECC 6.0 okay system copy or good Target system it will ask you for Sid instance number or host name and it will ask you for all that software exe dots are exe DB dots are everything finally at the time of exports it will ask you for exports file which you have taken from the source system already you have back you have copied this export file to this new new system you have to give this export simple it will install which database you are installing sorry which database you are installing here oh no Hana data which database install here what is this called heterogeneous system copy using R3 load method simple system copy homogeneous system copy and
