[Music] Today you are going to learn about some very concerning reasons of why it appears that people are fleeing the USCCCA. And you're also going to learn from somebody that's been forced into a self-defense shooting of what you absolutely have to have from a self-defense insurance company or a legal self-defense association. So, if you haven't already heard through the gun community, it appears that people that self-defenders, that gun owners are fleeing the USCCCA in droves. Now, I don't know if these stories are true or not, but what I have heard is that that the USCCCA has failed or refused to represent some of their members after those members have been involved in a self-defense shooting. One case was where a woman supposedly shot her ex-husband, her violent ex-husband, and then during the court trial, evidently, it sounds like some evidence was brought forward that that it may have been a premeditated shooting rather than just purely a self-defense shooting. Now, again, I don't know if any of this is true or not, but it sounds like that during her court trial, when this evidence was brought forward, the USCCA dropped her and no longer represented her in court. Now, I don't know how solid that evidence was, but this does concern me because any time that you would get criminally charged for defending yourself, the prosecutor's office is going to try to paint you as a violent or or cold-blooded murderer. And then, I guess evidently she ended up getting found guilty of murder or whatever she got charged with and now is facing decades or life in prison. Now, another thing that I've heard repeatedly about the USCCCA is that if you take a guilty plea, rather than taking that gamble of spending the next decades in prison, but that if you decide to take a guilty plea for the certainty of a lesser sentence, I have heard repeatedly that the USCCCA will drop you and then go after all the attorney fees that they paid you, which again could be in the thousands and thousands of dollars. Now, I don't know if that is true or not. I've just heard it many, many times from many different people. I have never personally read the fine print in the USCCA contract, but I will tell you this. If I legally and justifiably defended myself using deadly force against a violent attacker and I was still criminally charged because maybe this shooting, the self-defense shooting happened in a county where the prosecutor hates gun owners. And if that prosecutor was offering me a sweetheart plea deal, like saying, "Hey, you plead guilty to whatever lesser crime and you do three years, or if I know that I gamble it and I take it to a jury trial, and if I get found guilty, I might do 20 years. No matter how innocent and justified that I thought I was, I would be really tempted to take that guilty plea just so I would not have to gamble with spending the rest of my life in prison." So, if that is true, that if you take a guilty plea that the USCCCA will not only drop you, but then go after those thousands and thousands of dollars worth of attorney fees from you, that really concerns me. Now whether you are thinking about leaving the USCCCA or joining a different company, different self-defense company, let me tell you from somebody from personal experience, let me tell you what the next company that you join absolutely has to offer to their members. Number one, that company has to have a 24-hour hotline that you can call immediately after your self-defense shooting because not all self-defense shootings happen Monday through Friday during normal business hours. To put it simply, if you are involved in a self-defense shooting, you need to be able to reach your legal help immediately. Number two, your self-defense company needs to have an actual attorney that answers that 24-hour hotline and not just a regular operator. You see, if it's an actual attorney that answers that 24-hour hotline, then you will have attorney client privilege there. And then anything that you say in that telephone call will not be able to be subpoenaed or used in court down the road. Number three, the company that you join needs to dispatch a self-defense attorney immediately to you where they actually make contact with you right after your self-defense shooting. I will tell you this from personal experience, right after that self-defense shooting happens and the cops have arrived and you are detained and the cops are processing that crime scene. While that is happening, you are sitting there with your life flashing before your eyes. You are worried that the prosecutor is not going to see it as a as a justified self-defense shooting. You are worried that a civil attorney may try to sue you for thousands and millions of dollars down the road. So, having that attorney being dispatched to you immediately after your shooting, immediately after you call the 24-hour hotline, is going to be such a huge help. Also, having that self-defense attorney being dispatched to your scene right after that shooting and dealing with the cops on your behalf is probably the best thing that's going to keep your butt out of jail that night. And this is where I'm going to shamelessly plug Firearms Legal Protection. I like that they have that 24-hour hotline that a real attorney answers the phone and they do dispatch a self-defense attorney immediately as soon as you call them. And I will put a link to Firearms Legal Protection down below so you can check them out if you want to. But whether you go with FLP or some other company, make sure that that company that you choose has those benefits. But what you don't want is to belong to a self-defense company where somebody may answer the phone, where you may have to leave a voicemail, and maybe you get a call back the next day while you're in jail, or maybe an attorney shows up a couple of days later where you ended up having to needlessly spend the night in jail. Again, really make sure that the whatever company you choose gives those benefits. Now, the fourth thing you want to make sure that that company that you choose provides is that if you do get arrested and that if bond does get set, you want to make sure that that company that you belong to or the membership tier that you choose that that company will pay your bond if it's set. You just have to remember that if you get arrested after shooting a violent attacker, if you get arrested, then you're going to be charged with a very highlevel crime, attempted murder or murder or something like that. And that bond will probably be out of your reach to pay. And if you can't pay that bond, then you are looking at weeks or months in a county lockup or you might be getting beat up every night. So, you want to make sure that your company will pay your bond to get your butt out of jail. And the fifth thing that you want to make sure that your company will provide you with is that if it is decided that a detailed statement a few days after your shooting will keep your butt out of jail or keep your butt out of prison, you need to make sure that your company will provide you with a self-defense attorney that will help you to prepare that statement and also be with you when you give that detailed statement to the cops again to keep your butt out of jail or out of prison. And the sixth thing that you want to make sure that your company will do is that if your self-defense shooting ends up in court, that that company will pay for your attorney or provide you with an attorney, whether it is criminal court or civil court. It needs to be both court systems that that company will pay for your attorney. One of the things that you have to realize is that if you are criminally charged or civily sued after shooting a violent attacker in self-defense is that it's not going to be a new deputy prosecutor or some new civil attorney that's going to go after you in court. These are more than likely going to be top tier attorneys that's going to be going after you. So, you need to have a top tier attorney that's going to fight for your on your behalf. And it is not unheard of for it to cost people up to almost a million dollars to defend themselves in court on something like this. So again, whatever company that you belong to, I'll put a link to FLP down below, but whatever company you choose, you want to make sure that they will pay for your defense attorneys both in criminal and civil court. Number seven that you want to make sure that the company that you belong to will provide to you is that they will also pay for expert witnesses in your court trial. Expert witnesses are known to really be able to convey to a jury on how these self-defense incidents actually go down. They have a way to articulate to these juries in such a way that there's a higher likelihood that the jury will see you in a favorable light. they have a higher likelihood of that jury saying, "You know what? I would have done the same thing that he did. In fact, I probably would have shot that bad guy sooner." So, those expert attorneys can be very expensive. They can cost thousands and thousands of dollars to fly them in to testify on your behalf. So, you want to make sure that whatever company you belong to will pay for expert witnesses. Okay. The ninth thing that I think that you want to make sure that your self-defense company will provide for you is that you want to make sure that your company will fight red flag laws. Because in some states, a simple false allegation from a crazy ex-girlfriend or ex-wife or something like that may result in your guns being confiscated. So, you want to make sure that your self-defense company will fight on your behalf to get your gun rights restored. So, those reasons that I listed are why I belong to firearms legal protection. But whatever company that you choose, you want to make sure that you have those. But again, a 24-hour hotline that you can call immediately after your shooting where a real attorney answers that telephone call and a real attorney gets dispatched to your location so that attorney can start dealing with the cops. And then if you get arrested, that that company will pay your bond to get your butt out of jail. And then if it ends up in court trial, then that company will pay for your attorneys to fight on your behalf to help keep your butt out of prison. Now, it only costs about the same as a box of ammo a month to belong to Firearms Legal Protection, whether you choose them or somebody else. But again, I will put a link to FLP down below so you can check them out if you want to. So, what horror stories have you heard about other self-defense insurance companies? comment down below so that we all learn from each other.
