some more tips to help you succeed okay so the first NHS interview question I recommend you prepare for is why do you want to work for the NHS here's two tips tip number one now working in the NHS is challenging and you must give a passionate answer that demonstrates you have genuine reasons for wanting to work for this fantastic organization tip number two good reasons to give include having a positive impact on people's lives through providing world-class patient care being able to influence decisions about future health care in the NHS and also working alongside proud talented and hard-working professionals so let me now give you my example answer to this first NHS interview question why do you want to work for the NHS here we go I want to work for the NHS for three reasons the first reason is because I will get to see the difference my work is making to the lives of the patients who are under my care I will get an immense sense of Pride seeing the positive outcomes from my work the second reason I want to work for the NHS is because I will be working alongside other professional positive and talented Healthcare professionals who all have a common objective working with other people to achieve the same goal is always very rewarding the final reason I want to work for the NHS is because I will get to put forward ideas on how the NHS can be improved my research tells me the NHS appreciates its employees contributions and suggestions and I find this part of the organization very appealing so that is a really good answer to that first question why do you want to work for the NHS let's move on to the second question and that is how would you manage your workload in the NHS here's two tips tip number one so you will be responsible for managing your own workload in the National Health Service so this question is being asked to assess the process you follow to ensure your work is completed on time and two expected rules procedures and standards tip number two so I recommend giving an answer that demonstrates your ability to prioritize your workload based on the needs of your patients team and the NHS so to help you I'm going to give you two example answers to this question so answer option number one is for those of you who are applying for NHS Healthcare positions an answer option number two is for an HS office based and administrative staff positions so here's answer option number one how would you manage your workload in the NHS I would always manage my workload based on the needs of the NHS and the patients I am responsible for I would create a list of Duties and break them down into four categories urgent and important tasks come first non-urgent but important second urgent but not important third a neither urgent nor important last now by using this systemized process nothing will be missed and I will keep on top of everything I will also ensure there is flexibility in my working day to respond to Urgent requests from other Healthcare professionals or departments so I can immediately assist them if required that's a really good answer and it shows that you have a process in place for managing your workload in the NHS let me now give you answer option number two which is for office based and administrative staff how would you manage your workload in the NHS here we go I manage my workload by color coding tasks based on urgency red tasks need my immediate attention Amber tasks come second and green tasks can be left for when I have more time available I also utilize the four D's of time management especially when managing emails the 4ds are delete do delegate or defer more often than not I can delete an email if it does not involve me and its contents are for information purposes only if a task is urgent I will do the work there and then where possible I will delegate the task to someone else and finally I will delay or defer non-urgent tasks for when I have more time available again that is a brilliant response that will help you pass your NHS interview now don't go anywhere because I still have more questions and answers to give you but when you're ready click that link in the top right hand corner of the video head straight through to my website passmyinterview.com and you can immediately download these slides plus an additional 21 tough NHS interview questions and top scoring answers in a PDF guide here's the next question for you why is confidentiality so important in the National Health Service tip number one so the NHS has set policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality and the sharing or disclosure of a patient's information I recommend having an awareness of the NHS confidentiality policy before you attend your interview and tip number two all NHS employees have a legal duty of confidence so this means they must keep confidential information private and never share it accidentally or unlawfully here's my own example answer to this tough NHS interview question why is confidentiality important in the NHS confidentiality in the NHS is important because all staff have a legal duty to respect it and to understand the confidentiality procedures applicable to the NHS trust they are working in so confidential information relating to patients or service users must never be shared unless it is needed for the safe and effective care of the individual it is important to obtain consent before sharing any confidential information now if I am successful in my application to join this NHS trust one of the first things I will do is fully familiarize myself with your confidentiality policies and procedures If Ever I am unsure about the right to share confidential information I will seek guidance and advice so that's how I would answer that common NHS interview question why is confidentiality important in the NHS let's move on to the next question what are your strengths and weaknesses tip number one so this is one of the most common NHS interview questions that needs a confident and decisive answer tip number two before your NHS interview I recommend writing down a list of your top five greatest strengths and also consider one weakness that is not a match for the job description whatever you do don't say you don't have any weaknesses we all do but it's being aware of your weakness that is important and also having a desire to improve on it here's my example answer to help you what are your strengths and weaknesses my strengths include my ability to retain information follow strict rules and procedures provide exceptional care demonstrate respect and empathy and my ability to abide by the NHS values in my work I am totally committed to providing quality of care and I will strive to improve people's lives through the work I undertake in the National Health Service my weakness is I am not very good at public speaking or giving talks to large groups of people now while I don't believe this will hinder my ability to maintain competence in this position if there are any opportunities in the NHS to give talks or presentations to my team or others then I would like to give it a try that's a really good answer lots of strengths that are relevant to working in the NHS and then one weakness that will probably do you no harm here's the next question how would you handle a difficult patient now all staff in the NHS must at some point during their careers deal with difficult upset distressed or frustrated patients having the communication and interpersonal skills to deal with these situations is vital tip number two in your answer give a measured response that demonstrates your ability to remain calm follow procedures and put the needs of the patient first whilst and this is important maintaining a safe working environment here's my example answer to help you how would you handle a difficult patient I would assess the situation and use the right style of communication when speaking to the patient based on their needs I would remain calm professional and ask questions to find out what the problem was at all times I would demonstrate empathy and understanding now patients are often stressed and going through difficult periods in their lives so it would be my responsibility to reassure them and provide clear and accurate information as to their treatment I would give the patient plenty of opportunity to ask me questions and I would answer them to the best of my ability so that's another really strong answer that will help you pass your NHS interview now the next thing I recommend you
