I just felt like showing you this, and this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only who? True God. God means source of life.
The only true giver of life. And Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. So what's Jesus saying? Because he's not bearing witness of himself when he's talking.
That's why he says in Jesus Christ. I mean, it's him talking. So what's he saying?
He's saying, then this is eternal life, guys, that you may know the Father and me too. Isn't that what he's saying? This whole reason I'm doing this is so you can know me and the Father, or the Father in me. It's the whole reason I'm doing this. We've turned it into a passport to heaven.
We've turned it into Bible study, talking about the Bible over coffee, just talking about scriptures. Bible study, Bible study, Bible study. I'm not against looking at your Bible.
But we are in this pursuit of knowledge and knowledge can puff you up. I know people that can really quote the word and they're hurt and offended and angry and they can't even get in the saddle anymore because people. But man they can quote that Bible.
But they tried and they can quote that Bible so good and they had that ministry rolling and then this person and a little unfaithfulness over here and they weren't with and they said they'd never and they did and I... But man they can quote that Bible. Come on, you know I'm telling the truth. I bet none of that was the whole goal. None of that was the point from the get.
Listen, here's what he's talking about. This is where it gets sweet. He's saying every person can wake up every day and have this confidence that God absolutely loves them through the cross, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
He's not mad at you. He didn't change His mind about you while you were yet a sinner. The sacrifice was made and His blood's been speaking better things the whole time. And we've got to stop listening to folks that are telling us God's mad or He ain't doing enough to please Him.
I'll tell you what would please Him. Just come to Him. Just come to Him.
And be sincere and be humble. Just come to Him and actually believe He loves you. Actually believe your life is worth living in Christ Jesus.
That you actually have destiny and purpose in Him. To live in the Spirit, to walk in love, to pursue these things. Every person in this room is called to this place of knowing Him.
It's the essence of eternal life. It's being rejoined and made one with the Eternal One. I personally believe it's because He never made man to die. That's why eternal life is even mentioned.
He told Adam, The day you eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is the day you surely die. I don't think there was any death in the picture until sin came. I think He made man to live forever in Him. with him. So Jesus restores everything that God intended, right?
And restores everything that that was lost. So that's why eternal life is even on the list because we were always created to be one with him.
