Casio Vintage Collection: A1100G

[Music] thank you hello everyone welcome to the channel this is perpetuality there's something to be said about cassio's vintage collection how it brings back memories of oversized jeans and watching cartoons over the weekend we've all been there this is the a1100 G which is a reissue of the 52qs 14b it's a nightmare to try and keep all these numbers straight in my head but think that casio's got something special here and it is actually one of few casios I've added to my Personal Collection yes this all gold model has really pulled at my heartstrings and once again it's the reference a1100g 5vt special about this model is that it's completely made out of a steel construction from the case to the bracelet it's not your typical pleated resin that you would see in most casios at a lower price point this one actually retails closer to about 185 dollars U.S it's become a favorite of mine in my collection right next to the full metal square and if you want to see a video of me comparing these two please stay tuned that's in the works absent from the case is the existence of a crown instead there are four buttons up front that serve the purpose of a crown in terms of setting the time starting the stopwatch and using the backlight the diameter of the case measures about 34.7 millimeters across and the log width within the interior is about 20 millimeters which should be nice for those of you who want to switch out for your traditional leather straps of lug to Lug length you have a 39 millimeter long case which should please many sides of wrist from small to larger and speaking of the thickness of the case it measures it measures it measures again at a very thin 8.8 millimeters thick in terms of the bracelet taper you have a 21.3 millimeter taper from the widest end of the bracelet near the case which Narrows straight down to about 15.8 millimeters near the clasp and then it widens out again at the clasp at around 17.7 millimeters very good dimensions and should please a variety of wrist sizes comparing the G-Shock full metal Square to this a1100g is a bit of a hard comparison because it's much more durable of the watch however in measurement it measures in longer not as wide but much thinner than the full metal square if you're an absolute ape like I am the battery life in this watch won't last three years as advertised if you're using the backlight every so often but it does take the cr1616 battery which is readily available rounding the mineral glass crystal is a very finely saturated brush case with four buttons that are the reset light mode date start stop buttons all also made out of steel it's finishing on the bracelet is also exceptional I do like the laminar flow of the bracelet it feels wonderful to wear on the wrist comfortable it's a flat multi-link bracelet accompanied by a very simple signed Double release clasp however there is a drawback removing the links on this bracelet involves pulling out these very small pins and the entry point to take out these pins are remarkably small you'll have to take your time with them or you may mark up the PVD finishing of this watch you do have three points of micro adjustments which is welcome as it's better than having none I would wish to have a little bit more if you have wider wrist you may want more the clasp is stamped steel and you can see that when it closes it is a very thin Construction I have to say that the construction of the bracelet and the case itself feels extremely well put together solid there is nothing here that resembles a cheaper watch I will say that the finishing of the case is a combination of high polished surfaces on the side of the case mixed with the top part of the case being fully brushed alongside with the bracelet being fully brushed it is a welcome combination of different finish work that really makes this watch eye-catching to look at from both up close and just at a distance it looks far more expensive than it is speaking of functionality when you hit the mode button at the front of the watch you're greeted by the alarm and if you hit the mode button once again you have a one tenth of a second chronograph yes you've got a budget Zenith el primero I'm just joking this is a really cool addition to this watch and it makes it all that much more useful if you ever use a stopwatch hit the mode again you're able to do adjustments to the time and that is about the extent of how complicated this watch is it's quite refreshing to see a watch with such a simple complications if you will but perfect for everyday use look I don't know when you're going to use a one-tenth of a second counter but it's just cool to have one minor gripe I have is that the buttons are rather hard to hit as they're so remarkably small I could probably do with having a little bit larger buttons in regards to my wrist size it measures in at just around 6.5 inches and the watch wears pretty nicely on my wrist if you have a wrist as big as 7 inches you'll be able to wear this watch no problem that 39 millimeter lug to Lug length is a little bit tricky because on a rectangular Watch the watch tends to wear a little bit longer than your traditional round watch I think that the case proportions are perfect if you have a wrist smaller than about six and a half inches let's say you have a six inch wrist you could still get away with this watch being that it's relatively thin and I love how comfortable the bracelet is as you can see the corners of the watch really do not jut out from my wrist that far and it does angle down quite nicely thanks to the articulation of the bracelet on the wrist that lends to maximum Comfort now the tricky part is recommending this watch versus getting a full metal square at discount or for example going for one of the more traditional DW 5600s yeah you're going to get more in terms of durability for sure and you might even get more functionality in terms of solar movement if you go that route however I think for vintage cool aesthetic this watch is hard to beat and it definitely has a place in the collection of an individual that just loves the look of the watch but they're looking for that one up one-off Casio vintage throwback piece that just checks off all the red boxes in my view I think this watch Casio has nailed it they hit it out of the park with that vintage design I do wish that the buttons were a little bit more larger and easier to press and the display was a little bit larger but I'm really nitpicking here if you like the video today please consider subscribing liking the video and I'll catch
