Hey, have you ever considered having a business meeting with God? Yeah, like you and the big man, God? That is exactly what I'm here to talk to you about today, because I have learned that the best thing that I could do for myself and my company was to not compartmentalize. That if God is to be the CEO of my business, I needed to be meeting with him regularly.
And I really wanted to make it something super special. So today I'm going to be going through how to have a business meeting with God. And I'm actually going to give you the hour-long breakdown of this meeting. As a Christian business owner, I know that your intentions are good.
Your intentions are pure. You want to honor God with your business. But are we truly doing business with God, or are we just asking Him to bless the decisions we've already made?
I know! That's a zinger. The Bible is filled with scripture on wealth, integrity, leadership, stewardship, and the reality is that we were never intended to grow our businesses by ourselves. Proverbs 16 3 says, commit your actions to the Lord and they will succeed. So how do we actually do that?
One of my favorite ways is having a business meeting with God. So the very first thing before we even get into the actual agenda of a business meeting with God is you've got to make the time. I recommend a 60 minute meeting for your first one.
And let me tell you, this is not something that is always 60 minutes. This is not about, you know, like all the legalism and like you have to meet with God for your business. No, listen, like I talked to God about my business all day, every day in prayer, in conversation.
There is no right or wrong way to do this. Please know, I'm just giving you my recommendation to get started because I think it's cute when people say, Hey Steph, you know, do something. And then because they don't teach me how to do it or what to do, I sit down and I don't know what I don't know. And then I don't do it at all. And that's not what I want for you.
Having business meetings with God is the exact reason that my company went from scarcity and went from struggling and striving and me being addicted to social media four to five hours a day, trying to grow leads and get clients to being a highly profitable, fruitful podcast that ended up creating a multi seven figure company. I employ people now. I have a huge team. We're able to give and tithe and serve, and I have my time back, and it is because I was able to relinquish control, surrender, and really partner with God. Because I believe that when people who truly have the right pure heart posture, and none of us are perfect, please know, but when we try and we have that heart posture of alignment with the Lord, He can make crazy amazing things happen because this is His kingdom and we are a vessel.
We are to be the handsome feet of Christ while we're here. And for so many of us that are called to business, that does include actually making true real income for the kingdom because we can do incredible things with it. So this is how I would get started. And then just remember, you can modify, you can minimize the amount of time that you wanna spend on each step. I'm just gonna walk you through when I sit down to have like a true business meeting with the Lord, what this one hour is going to look like.
And then I'm also gonna tell you at the end of the agenda how often to have these meetings. and what I recommend really doing these meetings for. Okay, total squirrel brain. I think I forgot to actually finish my sentence when I was telling you guys to pick an hour that you're going to have this first business meeting with God. My goodness, there it is.
Thank you, Holy Spirit. We are going to decide when you're having your first meeting. You're gonna carve out the time because it's never convenient to just find an hour to meet with the Lord. Believe me, I get it, but we forget. That is actually the most important thing that you could possibly do when it comes to business growth.
So take a look at your schedule. I like to have these meetings when I'm by myself. I don't love doing this at a coffee shop or at a library where people are going to be looking at me and I'm going to be the girl in the corner.
I'm like, the Lord said, you know, because that is me. That is actually me. I like to be at home by myself on my prayer couch alone, just soaking in the Lord, having this full out business meeting because sometimes they do not go. as you expect and there may be tears or revelation or things that you really feel are sacred to you so maybe find a time when you can be fully alone to have this meeting okay and now we're back let's go ahead and get into what happens in this business meeting play by play the first part of your meeting with the lord is to worship and surrender and this is roughly five to ten minutes long the purpose of this first part of your business meeting with the lord is really preparation we want to prepare your heart and your mind. For me, this looks like turning on some worship music.
Maybe I'm really getting centered. I'm getting ready. You know, it's like the busyness of the day. Maybe I've been working and like going, going, going. Maybe I've had the kids in the house and now they just left for school.
We really need that moment, I think, to center in on the intentionality of this business meeting with God. Like this is going to be a really, really good time for us to kind of to be a holy sacred time and we want to prepare for it. Psalm 46 10 says be still and know that I am God. We have to really focus that heart posture on the stillness with God and prepare ourselves.
So this is where you're going to play that worship music, you're going to pray, you're going to have that clear mind and really get ready for this meeting. Now the second thing we're going to do in our meeting, oh and by the way where to have your meeting you can have it. I like to do things on my prayer couch and I also sometimes like to be outside.
I have a couch outside that's really comfy and I like to sit out there if the sun is out. It's freezing right now, so I would not have my business meeting outside right now, but I would also potentially do it at my kitchen nook. Like whatever feels good for you. It doesn't have to be because it's a business meeting. We don't need to get into our suit, right?
Like, you know, I'm just in my comfy so often. So the second thing we're going to do at our meeting is we're going to seek wisdom in scripture. And this is about 10 minutes long. What does this mean?
It means we want to find some relevant scripture that has to do with what we want to talk about with the Lord today. So you might want to head over to chatGBT and ask it, show me some relevant scriptures for my business meeting with God that have to do with blank. What do you really want to talk about in this meeting with the Lord? Maybe you want to talk about hiring your first person or growing in your leadership or struggling to make any income in your business.
Maybe you want to talk to the Lord about your fear of failure. or your imposter syndrome. Write that into ChatGBT and take those maybe two, three, four, five verses that it results back. Go into the actual word of God, okay?
Open up the actual word of God. Don't just take ChatGBT as gospel because therein lies the actual problem, you know? Let's say that we want to look up hiring our first person and we were led to a few different scriptures. Go ahead and open that scripture. In a physical, tangible Bible, and by the way, if you don't have a Bible, please grab the New Living Translation.
I'll link my favorite one below. It is my absolute favorite. It is not this one I'm showing you because this one is very aesthetically pleasing. My other one has like scribbles and it's like a whole vibe and it's in my car and I'm lazy. But get the Bible, okay, and open the Bible to the verse because I think there's something about just getting off of your phone and really being present in the moment.
getting into the word, seeing what God has to say in that particular scripture, feeling the pages. And I just know that when I have my Bible in my hands, the Holy Spirit is working through me and through these scriptures. So go ahead and collect those scriptures that you want to bring to the business meeting. You can just jot them down in a notebook.
You could print them out. I just typically like will scribble and jot like any revelation download or particular scripture that I want to bring to the meeting. Okay. The next thing we're going to do is we're going to review our business goals. and challenges with God.
And this is 15 minutes. So this little wing ding just wants to... Okay.
So this is now the actual meeting with God. This is where we say, Lord, I am here before you today. No, I'm just kidding.
You can pray it. You can say it. There's no right or wrong way to talk to God. Okay.
I typically am like, Lord, I'm coming to you for this meeting, particularly because I want to do my next year planning. I want to get... fresh vision, a fresh wind, some discernment on some decisions I have to make on investments for my company.
Maybe I need to hire a new person, but I'm afraid I won't have the budget. Whatever the things are that I'm bringing to the meeting, I'm going to speak them out to the Lord. I'm going to talk to God about the verses that I found.
I'm just going to kind of spill my guts to the Lord because He can handle me, okay? And He can handle you. He made you. He knows already what's going on up here and what is going on.
in here. So you don't need to filter for God. This is get it out. If you need to cry, if you need to be upset about something, if you need to be insecure, like get it because God can handle it.
So this is where we're going to really bring everything to him. Some of the areas that I brought to God in my business meetings are like I already mentioned, new year planning, quarterly planning, hiring, firing, better biblical leadership of my team, how to steward and shepherd money and finances. Where to tithe, how to tithe, where to donate, when I needed help in my taxes, in my financial planning, in my legal, Lord, I don't know where to go for this. What am I supposed to do?
Lead me to the right people, the right resources. Those are all things I'm going to bring to God in a meeting. I also bring to Him any mindset issue, any unbelief that I may have in myself as a CEO, as a podcaster. Before I started this YouTube channel, I was like, but God, YouTube, you know? And, um, here we are.
And so you got to bring the things to God that, you know, you need his help in. And that is this time that you want to do it. The next step is to listen and journal. And this is going to be 10 minutes or so, because here's where we want to fill the space. We want to fill the silence.
We want to talk. We have such an aversion to stillness, to boredom, to listening, and I get it. You know, we have phones in our face quite often, and I think that's really detrimental to our ability to listen and hear. And we've got to get still.
So in the business meeting with God, this is the time where you listen to Him. A relationship with Christ is two-dimensional, right? And the Holy Spirit literally lives inside of you, right, when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. and we repent of our sinful nature, and we say, Jesus Christ, please be with me. I am a follower of you.
Forgive me for my sins. I love you so much. God, help me walk in your ways. I'm yours.
We are saved. And when we do that, the Holy Spirit is now ever-present with us all the time, which means I think it's important that we cultivate an actual relationship, right? When we talk about a relationship, it's not just you and you.
It's you and someone. Well, now it's you and Jesus, right? And we have this beautiful relationship.
So we are going to talk, and then Jesus is going to talk, and we are going to listen, and then Jesus is going to listen. It's very simple. And so this is where we want to listen. And what that looks like for me is this, and I know it's different for everybody, but journaling and being able to kind of discern and decipher through paper has been so powerful. But maybe for you, it's a whiteboard.
Maybe for you, it would look like just being quiet and kind of hearing. Some people, everyone's different. Some people hear the voice of the Lord.
Some people see things. They are seers. They have visions, whether in dreams or in reality.
Some people have a nudge. They have a feeling. Some people hear through other people.
There's lots of ways that God speaks to us. Sometimes I'm just on my mountain bike and God will speak a thing, you know? And so he's just, he's fun.
He knows what you love and what you need. And I think he'll show up for you in that. If you have no idea what I'm talking about and you're like, this lady's crazy, just get out a notebook. Okay. Just trust me on this.
And I am a little crazy, but go ahead and just journal. Lord, what do you have for me in this area? Help me hear from you.
Help me make the right choices. Help me make the right steps, meet the right people, be the right leader, whatever it might be. And then listen, actually stop. and just listen. Some questions I often ask are, God, what do you want to reveal to me about my business?
And I'll just journal that. Or God, what do you want to show me about this insecurity that I have? And I'll just journal and listen. The last thing I want to say on this one is to be open. Sometimes I'll sit down for a business meeting with God and he'll just like, we're talking about your marriage today.
Or he'll be like, you know, we're going to deal with this addiction. Like it doesn't, this idol, right? God's God and he's going to take you where he needs.
So be careful that you aren't too closed off to anything that he might want to do in this meeting with you. So keep an open mind. Okay. The fifth thing we're doing in our business meeting with God is now that we've kind of had the conversation, we've done all this stuff. We've kind of been back and forth with the Lord.
We need to take everything that just happened and we need to get clear on practical steps. And this is about 10 minutes. Often when I'm in a meeting, or I'm in a training of some kind, I'm just like, because I process through writing and through visual. I'm a visual learner. I'm an audible learner.
So I'm like, I've got to also do something as I'm learning. So I'm often writing. Well, then you have 14 pages that the Lord spoke.
You know what I mean? Like, what do I do with this? I want to encourage you to find one thing that he has told you to do.
Really write that down, circle it, highlight it. Or one thing that God has told you to stop, circle it, highlight it. Sometimes you'll have both. And lastly, look for one area where you can trust him more.
In your meeting at Manda, being all three things, it may just be one thing. I think we so often overcomplicate what we think we need to do, coming out of a meeting or a training or a course or something like that. But for me, if there's too many things to do, I can't remember any of it anyway, and then I do nothing.
So all I challenge myself to do is to have a conversation. one core takeaway that I actually go and implement. And the final thing in the last few minutes of your business meeting, we're going to close in prayer and gratitude. Don't forget to really seal your business meeting with God. And this might look something like this.
Father God, I thank you so much for this time together today. Thank you for your revelation over my business. Thank you for helping me cultivate the mind and heart of a biblical leader.
Help me to grow in excellence. Help me to have a pure heart. to take actions through the power of the Holy Spirit, not through myself.
Help me to discern wise business choices, wise hires. Help me to create products and podcasts and YouTube videos and all the things that you have called me to do, Lord, with a posture of goodness, a posture of purity, a posture of helping, serving. And I'm just excited, Lord, about what you're doing.
Please help seal this meeting in all of your goodness in the blood of Jesus Christ, Lord, that we may step forward in faith and take action on the revelation that you've bestowed upon me today. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you. In Jesus' name, amen. Just an example. Okay, now, my last thing for you is a challenge because it's cute that you've watched this video.
And if you've watched this far, will you drop me an amen in the chat? I wanna know who my, I call you guys my Lolas. and my Larrys, the people who are like really here with me. I want to know who my Lolas and my Larrys are. Drop me an amen if you're still here in the comments.
And I want to challenge you. I want you to schedule this business meeting now. As soon as you're done with this video, I want you to go see where you can fit in one hour with the Lord.
And I want you to go ahead and down below in the description, we've mapped out the exact schedule that I just gave you in the call with the times. I want you to take that really easy little outline and I want you to do it. You're not going to do it perfectly. There's no right or wrong way to do this.
but I want you to get it done. Why? Because you are going to experience some fruit. You're going to feel different about your business. You're going to show up in a new way.
You're going to feel inspired, motivated. And I believe that you're going to start to see the fruit of God's hand in your work. And that is where we begin to glorify him with what we do. And I think that's everything.
I really do. It's not about salvation by works, but it is about doing good works. for the kingdom of God.
And I want to do that. I want to show up at my highest capacity and give everything that I can. And I know that I can never do that without him.
So invite him in, in this meeting. And then I want to hear from you. Tell me what happened. If you can remember that, hi, little old me helped you do this meeting. Will you come back to this video and tell me what happened in the comments below last ask last ask I'm a new channel and I'm getting started.
