Managing Session Timeouts on McGraw Hill Reader

Issue: Session Timeout

  • When a reading session is inactive for a certain period (e.g., longer than 4 hours), the session times out.
  • Result: Book closes, but work is saved.

Possible Causes of Session Timeout:

  • Browser inactivity: Leaving the browser tab open without activity for more than 4 hours.
  • Launching another book: Opening another book in the same browser can trigger a timeout.
  • Cross Site Tracking: Security settings in your browser might cause issues.

Steps to Reopen Book:

  1. Close the tab: Simply close the current tab and reopen the book to continue reading.
  2. Adjust Browser Settings (if necessary):
    • Go to the browser menu.
    • Select Settings.
    • Navigate to Privacy.
    • Deselect the checkbox for "prevent cross-site tracking."
  3. Refresh the page and try accessing the book again.

Additional Tips:

  • Periodically interact with the browser during long reading sessions to avoid timeouts.
  • Keep an eye on your privacy settings if facing frequent timeouts due to cross-site tracking issues.
