not in this afternoon so we have here our earliest bird there is we have Joseph Conrad good afternoon watching from Pasay City North High School grade 12 ICT so thank you for joining us Joseph how about the next one go ahead shooter Joyce yes we have he also here from uh can I say hi good afternoon watching from bukid known oh Boy Yes okay go ahead okay we have three things from porkillo Carol Bravo we also have Rowena Ballesteros who's coming from grade 12 Sapphire from alibabad or a big eyes National High School in San Mariano Isabella so we also have Marjan Mexico colado great job Sapphire of the same school subject teacher love the love your teacher no Catherine C gabehan and their principal Glenda ipira and watching from a super Elementary School gloomi naroma Al Mohela and finally we have Jose yeah saying hello watching from smnhsdo Pampanga another reason still have more ma'am yes go ahead we also have Gerald Austria um from the buluja National High School sdo Isabella so wow we're all over the country I can feel it teachers yes so I'm very happy wow so let's begin to Rejoice with an introduction or an overview of what the subject is so what is 21st century literature from the Philippines and the world where well we definitely get the meaning or the important word there which is literature or any story of man that's simply what is literature now in every country for us to get to know a country get to know the people the first start or the best start that we have to go to would be really checking the literature of the area so here's the thing now if we get to know 21st century literature from the Philippines and the world well it'll be easier for us to sail through the different topics that we have for the subject of course we go back to what is happening in the past down to the present AKA for this week we'll be covering the different literary periods in the history of Philippine literature the second week that be next week still a little bit of the history but we're looking more into the different texts and authors that each region can provide and because it's a very special topic and there are a lot of regions in the country we get to extend until the third week of the text and authors from each region in my favorite part teacher Joyce shooter Joyce said the rest of you who are watching will be covering the literary approaches or the different things that we use in order for us to produce a good critic of the different literary works out there and for week five we'll be covering the different literary genres so and finally six week six context in different texts that we're going to read and seventh would be making sure that we're producing creative representation of the different literary texts around the globe or even with in the Philippines and what's so amazing on the eighth week would be we're going to review all the things that we've covered for the entire quarter so your eight weeks with us will be the safest the most enjoyable eight weeks there is so children Joyce I'll begin with the most essential learning competency that we'll be covering this week so if we try to check there are actually two or even three points that we need to consider writing a close analysis and critical interpretation of literary text although this is quite heavy or difficult for some but don't worry everything that will be covering this week and the weeks to come will definitely be routed to this specific output so because yes but we will do it step by step we will not ask you to do an analysis ASAP or critical interpretation of text let's start with the basics and next doing an adaptation so most likely your subject teachers will be covering that part but we'll try shooter Joyce and I will try to make sure this will be possible in the next few episodes and finally this part Geographic linguistic and ethnic dimensions of Philippines literary history from pre-colonial to the Contemporary yeah Mount Floyd we already had a discussion or shooter Floyd we already had a discussion on week one milk but why am I not seeing so much details on the three dimensions well take note in week one we'll be focusing on our very core or the core of our discussion that's identifying the different periods of the history of Philippine literature young Geographic yes linguistics yes and of course after this lesson that we will be discussing this afternoon lessons for yeah for this uh 21st century with of course the identifying the three dimensions now we will go deeper to that okay and actually truth is we might as well give some trivia the next few sessions or next few weeks and it's nice to hear that Mom go okay so here's the first question this afternoon why do you need to study literature do you have any idea uh-huh can you just uh please chat on our type the name on our comment section and then so let's uh do the answers right yes yes it's part of us being Filipinos nothing I'm also a Filipino and therefore I should understand no more about ourselves being a Filipino so yeah teacher Floyd we have yes according to Joseph Conrad from we will learn about the world of history we wanted to emphasize literature literary pieces and of course A Touch of History so yes because literature is Life okay [Music] and also to the text and the words of the Philippines so that's good yes so we'll get to not only enhance our English speaking skills and English writing skills but really more on our Philippine Origins context we have more greetings coming in and I'm sure who are still going to write their answers so just continue typing them in and we'll recognize them later so children so well basically we are all connected not just with the people that we're living with today but even with our forefathers now these four fathers or ancestors are the ones who help us raise our Rich Heritage of ideas and literary Works my attempt to preserve because of such attemption generation two generations [Applause] we get to understand different Traditions that are noble that are great and um or I'm already a part of relationship very unique different Traditions similarities yes and not when you see when you focus on culture from other countries once you get to know these cultures of different countries literature okay so you know what to Rejoice according to her literature serves as a window to past of Filipinos so we can really see how literature becomes a lens to all of us yes okay okay no go ahead to Rejoice the next reason or importance why we need to study literature go ahead yes of course we have to appreciate our cultural heritage and yeah and of course to show love love and take pride in our own culture so Hindi language culture but even especially our culture and to show deep concern for our own literature we get to realize that some limitations that we might have due to historical factors and thus take steps to overcome them well the thing about limitations is the Philippines the next few weeks and of course this time no we really have to understand more better about ourselves timeline there is so we simplified everything resources period so let's try to simplify it on History we started with the pre-colonial period or in other words literary Works before so when you say Conquistador yes Europeans or even other foreigners who tried who were always in a conquest trying to look for spices trying to look for new territories so before the material my pre-colonial period the next one would be go ahead shooter joy we have the Spanish Colonial period so during this time where we have the more of um literature or literary texts before subtle regrets experience awful experiences with these conquistadors the thing is they also shared some or if not most of their culture with us in a culture than Filipino Multicultural so next would be American regime so dito from Spanish colonizers would be the Americans and next would be the Japanese and finally to rejoice of course the Contemporary period our content contemporary period so on our own as Philippines rulers in terms of literature and that dates back after after the Japanese rule until the present time because when you say contemporary it's really about uh the more recent uh items yes under each period the timeline don't worry we will not confuse you easy and let's get into the next part or the details pre-colonial period so children why is one of the featured form foreign so [Laughter] so we heard back in uh way back in 1565 to 12th floor in 8th to 1898 these were actually the literary texts or the literary um genres of this time no now we have the folk tales which are made up of stories about life adventures no and of course even I can still remember my grandparents who would give us a story about this and put on lessons in life and then we also have this next we have the fox songs now these songs are actually mirrored the earliest forms of culture yeah and many of these were 12 syllables nowadays it's more of a nursery rhyme nursery rhyme if you're going to look at a way back then 15 minutes and then we have the epics Champion the famous epics that we have um these ethics actually are poems that are with heroic themes again from yeah from Ilocos we also have the ibalon of bicol we also have the darangan of Muslim we also have the bugtongs yes we also have this Proverbs or the sayings I think these are guide nareno no these are our the way of life speaking of literature but we are now applying it lessons Fox songs and from yes digital employee at Twitter Floyd so easier to master these short pieces because these are passed on to succeeding Generations Generations yes and the next month tutor Floyd tutor Floyd ma'am remix okay what's up shooter Max and shooter Joyce for the top three discussion prominent literary pieces during the pre-colonial time so tutor Joys apart from the three weeks generation okay we have uh the sayings or the Maxis which are Filipino and Filipino terms and finally be satisfied forefathers through Word of Mouth literature is they try to recall everything that they heard all the literature that they heard in what sense that's why um hello okay hello couple Floyd [Music] it's because um of course our um forefathers wanted to make sure that the history the culture the literature is preserved so Islanders Islanders and Mark of trees apart from that they wanted to show that literary peace through Word of Mouth that's where we came uh to be or where we had epics hero um villain plotline is all there you know Adventure symbolisms so to Rejoice this time you're in charge with Colonial period Spanish Colonial period so what's in store with this Period of Enlightenment so go ahead to Rejoice okay so we have here the Spanish era the recreational Place mostly these are actually poetic forms Spanish and however this Spanish conquistador okay we have here the soldiers the tip were first settled in Cebu no Ayan spearheaded by the adelantado Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and where these colonizers specifically the Friars exerted so much effort to spread Christianity or by converting the natives into Christian and Destroy All Things indigenous as part of their agenda okay so Luther Joyce uh we have to understand that people would say Spanish Colonial period you won't period the thing is it's not Machado friendly approach in fact um god um because they try to propagate their religion which is Christianity in fact um written literature forefathers and then after that before we continue I know we're very excited to hear and uh watch on this online tutorial pero we have to stop and just just take a look a simple um game for this afternoon Heroes nothing during that time or please write down your answers on our comment section national hero okay in our comment section yes yes during the time and it's pseudonyms or his pen names yes of course until now these are grade nine students that we have hello School of course Filipinos okay and then we also have this one who is the second icon um Philippines back in the days okay um yeah okay congratulations so we have Marcelo H del Pilar with the student name is okay and we have this one last eye artists [Applause] to try they're trying to write their answers yes yes or okay so actually he is very as I yeah he wrote a scientific study on malaria which is entitled the material pathology piece entitled Impressions which dealt with Spanish Impressions yes the pen name of course all right and finally foreign [Music] yeah [Music] although they're really available their pictures or photographs are available in museums and even online their names really ring a belly they equally contributed in the propaganda movements [Music] easy [Laughter] um this would be the last period that we'll be covering this afternoon and the rest will be continued the next session okay they give so much importance to education and writing using the English language influences foreign [Laughter] yes and here's the thing um Jose Garcia Villa that's a very famous poet in the Philippines in the U.S because it's so good in producing free verse poems contribution yeah okay and finally Philippine literature Philippine literature Philippines Philippine literature and that shouldn't be the case foreign for this 21st century literature true and because of that to their joy since it's already 4 40 p.m I want to leave this question to our audience what would happen to you if literature does not exist again the question is what would happen to you if literature did not exist so Ayan so two third choice yes literature right because literature is life I am yes and because of such life we have different stories of men and our stories come to life because of literature so once again this is shooter Floyd and this is Joyce saying thank you thank you and join us in the next session or the next week session for 21st century literature from the Philippines and the world and yes ma'am and the next book yes next shooter well we have creative writing and reading writing with sir Jess mom Zen circuit and Sir Jerry so soon thank you everyone
