what's up guys welcome back to the fng academy buck here from green beret here to help you guys get selected [Music] all right guys welcome to this episode i got my man kurt with me who runs the fng academy store and we just wanted to do a quick video for [Laughter] quiet the whole time good lord all right guys in this video we just wanted to do a quick video on a new item that's coming to the fngacademystore.com thefngacademy.com both of them work did they we bought it because okay so we had to buy both because i don't know how to say it so thefngacademy.com or thefngacademystore.com um the new foot kit that we have coming out uh kurt former green bray from first group um runs the store and put together this amazing foot kit for you guys so as you know we're trying to get everything we can to give you the tactical advantage when it comes to sfas and selection and the latest item to be drop in which we're super excited about is the foot care kit so let's open it up and see what you guys are going to get with the foot care kit and kurt's going to break it down the process he went through picking everything and making sure it was the right equipment for you guys so kurt you want to walk us through what's in the kit yeah man so i mean foot care is one thing you learned real early on in sfas and throughout your entire career it's something that you'll really take on with you is your feet is taking care of your feet is important like crucially important nothing will take you out of the game quicker than some messed up feet whether it's blisters or whatever having your feet in good health is key to getting through the cue course yeah without a doubt especially selection i remember doing a train up and i got a blister on the back of my foot and then the ball on my foot and i could not rock after that for very long it was so excruciating can you not honey thank you ah kids the pain in my feet were was so excruciating that it was like torture yeah it's crazy because a tiny blister can ruin your chance emelia you playing a tambourine over there when i was in train up i had the smallest i had a blister on the back of my heel in the ball of my foot and it made training excruciatingly painful um and i hated it and i was like whatever happens i cannot let this happen in selection so i learned really quick that taking care of my feet before i got the blisters was huge yeah for sure all right i'm gonna take away the toilet and so that's honestly when we put together this kit those are things that we started to think about like what did we use in selection and how can we make it convenient and easy for guys that are getting ready to go through right so in this kit these are all things that i had in my pack at all times going through selection and i know yeah like you most people had the same things but you know we had them strong about different ziploc bags here and there it was not easy to get to and so that's what we wanted to do with this is make a basically a one-stop shop kit that's convenient and easy and has everything in it that you need to take care of your feet yeah and the cool thing i like that what kurt did when he picked this pouch specifically was first of all it's not huge and bulky it's small enough to where it'll stay out of the way you could shove it in any of your outside pockets on your rucksack and it also has molle attachments so you could attach it to the outside of your rucksack or anything that has molle you could attach it to and then it comes with this sweet pvc patch so you can take that off put it on a hat something else it's always cool to get a little extra and kurt goes above and beyond for you guys so the pvc patch is something cool you'll get and it does have this like front pocket too so you could put stuff in the front if the kit has something that if or if your foot care uh regiment has something that the kit doesn't have you could always add it later on so inside you want to walk us through like what why you picked the things that you did yeah so first thing you want to do is preventative maintenance before it even gets to the point of being an issue right so one thing that's important for that and a lot of people honestly i feel like overlook this is taking care of your toenails i think she's gearing up yeah i'll tell you what you do this video all right guys so i'm gonna be on daddy duty so kurt's gonna take over for me uh the women have gotten together and left us alone with the baby again so kurt if you could roll solo on this i'm gonna go take care of the child and i will catch you guys on the next video let's do it this video is sponsored by 18 alpha fitness [Music] nailed it all right guys so one thing that people often overlook is taking care of your toenails right and so that's very important you don't want to have long toenails they can get snagged on socks they can start to rip off you know a lot of things can happen so we've got these cool fng academy uh toenail clippers that we put in here because like i said it's easier to stop a problem before it happens than it is to try to combat the problem after it's already occurred um so moving on from there some of the other contents that we've got in here we've got these alcohol wipes alcohol prep pads while you're going through your feet are going to get dirty they're going to get nasty and if you need to clean off or if you need to take care of a blister while you're moving you're going to want to clean that spot well before you apply any kind of bandage moleskin or whatever because if it's dirty it's grimy it's just not going to stick so we've got a number of these alcohol prep pads in here and that's going to help whatever you're putting on it's going to help it stick a lot better and it also is going to help fight any kind of infection or anything like that so moving from there when you start to get a blister you've got a couple different options generally you start to feel a hot spot if a blister hasn't occurred you might be able to just put a bandage on it depending on where it is other areas you're going to want to go straight to the moleskin which is something that we use all the time going through sfas so we've got a number of these fabric bandages these are really high quality bandages they'll stick to almost anything and they really do a good job of stopping any kind of friction zones or hot spots that might occur if you have a bigger spot sometimes the bandage might not work so the tried and true method is moleskin so we've got plenty of moleskin patches in here so these are three by three squares of moleskin you take these off you can cut them to any shape with the included scissors that we have in the pack like i said it's a one stop shop here so you take these you take the scissors you cut it out to whatever shape you need to put on whatever size your blister is wherever it is you cut that shape out with your scissors here and then these are adhesive mole skins you peel off the backing stick it on your hot spot put your sock back on and carry on right also when you get done wrecking at night or whenever the event is over your feet are going to be sweaty you probably got wet from walking through creeks rivers streams wet grass whatever it may be and keeping your feet dry is going to be paramount to helping your feet recover and also helping you prevent any further blisters because wet feet it really starts to sink into your skin your skin gets soft and then you're a lot more prone to hot spots and blisters at that point so what we do is we provide you with a four ounce small size of the foot powder this is the foot powder that i always use going through sfas it's in my opinion the best there's plenty of brands out there but in my opinion this is the best one and so we provide that in here too so at the end of the day take your socks off powder up your feet get your feet dry so they can start to heal so like we said this is is something that it seems small but everybody knows that not taking care of your feet can be the difference between you making it through selection or not um i remember a time specifically we were going through the trek at the end of selection i made it through the entire time i made it through gates i made it through the individual events i made it through team week and now here we are at the trek you know and i'd started to develop hot spots i've been taking care of them but it's inevitably it's gonna happen you're putting a lot of miles on your feet so by the time we're at the track i remember i was about halfway through ours was we did two loops we estimated they're 10 to 12 miles per loop we don't really know but every class is different you do different routes you do different distances mine specifically was roughly 2 10 to 12 mile loops and i remember when i started my second loop i had been getting this hot spot that had been developing and i felt it and i knew if i didn't take care of it then this could be pretty detrimental to my chances of success so you know i dropped my ruck i got down took my boot off and sure enough my hot spot had started to perform into a blister it started to peel off and it was on its way to becoming something that would have taken me out of the game so luckily i had my moleskin slapped it on there put my sock back on and i was able to continue on and you know got selected so don't let something small like a blister take you out so check us out at thefngacademy.com um you can pick this up it is dropping now and so go ahead check us out grab this and take care of your feet take care of yourself like we said we're here to help you get selected and this is just one more key of uh one more piece of kit to help you achieve that goal hey guys thanks for checking out this video and be sure to check us out on thefngacademy.com [Music] the reason why my soul is
