experience that you can bring and don't forget to talk about the energy industry and how Shell's Ambitions match your your own and finally describe how you're going to add value to the Shell brand in the job row itself now something I strongly recommend you do is make sure you download the job description and focus on telling the interviewer or the hiring manager how your skills match those that they have listed on that job description so for example if they say they want someone who is a collaborator or someone who's hardworking and professional make sure you use those exact words throughout your shell influ aners and you can also impress the h manager by mentioning key facts about shell in your answer such as their powering progress actions and Ambitions such as their powering progress actions and Ambitions of working to the UN sustainable development goals or you can mention their increasing sustainable energy focus and they aim to be a net zero Company by 2050 these will all yourself or sometimes as I mentioned it's worded as tell me about yourself let's now take a look at the next Shell interview question which is why do you want to work in the energy industry now for this question your answer should focus on the future of the energy industry it is moving away from fossil fuel and towards more sustainable energy in which shell is a leading organization in setting a plan to achieve this including its net zero emissions ambition you should also demonstrate that you want to create a better environment for the future so here is a great example answer to help you why do you want to work in the energy industry simply put I want to work in a role that makes a difference working in the energy industry will enable me to help work towards creating a better environment for not just my generation but for the generation of my family and their families to come shell not only has a goal of reaching net zero emissions it wants the world to reach Net Zero and it's investing heavily in renewable energy reimagining energy for both people and the planet by working in the energy industry and for Shell in particular I will be part of the solution and I will take immense pride in my work now don't go anywhere as I still have more interview questions and answers to give you but when you're ready click that Link in the top right hand corner it take you through to my website howtobecometv viw okay here's the next question for you tell me about a time when you influence A Change by only asking questions now during your Show interview you will be required to answer compy based or behavioral interview questions like this one now my advice is to structure your answers using the the star method when you answer any tough behavioral interview question and the star method stands for s for situation what was the situation you found yourself in T is for task what was the task that needed to be carried out a is for Action what action did you take to achieve the task and R is for result what was the end result following your actions now for this question in particular I recommend that you demonstrate one of Shell's Three core values and they are Integrity respect and honesty so make sure your example showcases you upholding the value that you choose and that your example ends with a positive result so here is a fantastic answer to help you tell me about a time when you influenc a change by only asking questions whilst in a team meeting at my previous employment we were discussing and looking to select a catering company to provide for the cafeteria at our offices the decision was between two different providers the first was a local brand serving freshly made salads and baguettes providing vegan gluten dairy and egg-free Alternatives the second company provided prepackaged sandwiches and pastries and no gluten or dairyfree Alternatives the majority of my colleagues at the meeting were in favor of the second cater due to their rates being cheaper personally I was unhappy with this decision as I was aware that there were several employees in our various departments that had gluten and dairy intolerances and allergies not not only did I feel this was morally wrong but I also felt that it contradicted the company's principal value of inclusion and respect for others I saw it as my task to be a voice for inclusivity I went on to ask the team two questions firstly I asked if they felt it was fair for some of our colleagues to be unable to buy food from the canteen to which they agreed that this was wrong secondly I asked how they would feel if they had a dietary requirement that was overlooked by their place of work I went on to explain that I would feel let down and singled out should this happen to me they agreed and by the end of the meeting a unanimous decision was made that all employees should be able to utilize the convenience of a canteen lunch I was really happy with this result as to me respecting others is something that I feel is crucial inside and outside the workplace let's take a look at another company based question and that is tell me about a time when you made the right decision now effective decision- making is a quality that all hiring managers will want to see demonstrated in your interview they want to see you have the confidence to make decisions that will positively impact their company my tip is to provide an example of where you made an effective decision despite resistance from other people so here is a great example answer to help you tell me about a time when you made the right decision during a client project in a prior role it was quickly becoming clear that the project manager had under under budgeted and we were close to maxing out our plan costs even though the project was still someway from completion the project manager had held a team meeting and asked for any ideas of where we could cut costs or better utilize the resources we already had two team members suggested that in order to save time and money we use a subpar product for one of the Project's components I opposed and explain that this kind of proposition went against my own personal ideals of integrity honesty and professionalism I said that if we use a product part that was of inferior quality not only could this be harmful but if the client found out it would irreparably harm the organization's brand after I voiced my worries everyone concurred that we should stick to using the same products that were pertinent to the project and met the criteria set to the client I am the type of person who will always weigh up the risks and consequences of any decision I make and in this instance I felt it was important to the Integrity of myself and the company that the client got what they were expecting and that we didn't compromise on the reputation of the company and the services we offered wow what a great example to use when answering that interview question Tell me about a time when you made the right decision you can see from that answer that it demonstrates effective decision- making by showing that you carefully weigh up the risks and consequences of your decisions and that you put the reputation and the Future Good of the organization above everything else else let's take a look at the next Shell interview question which is why do you want to work for Shell now
