Ladies and gentlemen, if you clicked on this video, chances are you want to become smart. Now, for most of our life, we're being told that we need six years of primary school, four years of high school, and another four years of college to be smart. But it's actually much easier than that. And for most people, you want to be smart for three reasons. To get good grades, to get filthy rich, and to sound smart so that people can respect you, but not too smart that you look like a little nerd.
Well, you've come to the right spot. My name is Colinlin, and I'm a student at Yale University studying computer science. And in this video, I'll show you the... three simple habits that'll make you a genius. So the first habit is reading books.
Now you can read fiction books if you want to improve your vocabulary or use like big words, but I would strongly recommend reading non-fiction books. Guys, reading books is the fastest way to become smart because you're literally getting years of knowledge and experience in just a couple pages. And when you read non-fiction, you can apply it to your daily life and you can also just casually drop interesting knowledge when you're talking with friends. So I've been reading one book every two weeks since I was 15 years old and I buy books every month at college. It's almost like an addiction at this point.
But if you're just getting started, I would highly recommend reading a book a month, 10 minutes a day before bed. So what books should you read? I'm going to give you a list of 12 books in four categories.
They'll make you super smart. So in the world of psychology, you should read The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene, How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, and Influence by Robert Cialdini. These three books will teach you how to increase your influence and become powerful.
Now, when it comes to biographies or stories, I would highly recommend the biography of Elrod Musk by Ashley Vance, Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins, and Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. These books will show you that in order to become successful, you must first innovate and have the right mindset. Now, when it comes to thinking slash mindset books, you should read Mastery by Robert Greene, The Creative Act by Rick Rubin, which I actually have signed, and Principles. by Ray Dalio. These three books will expand your mind and provide you with a more meaningful purpose.
And finally, under philosophy slash productivity, read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, which talks a lot about stoicism, The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, and Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal. Guys, all these 12 books are books that I've personally read, and I think they're definitely must-reads if you want to become super smart. And if you read a book a month, which is very doable, by the way, you can gain all this knowledge in just 12 months and get ahead of 99% of people. Also when it comes to reading books, don't just read for the sake of reading, right?
You want to apply that knowledge and maybe even make like practice questions so you can do active recall. And this is how you absorb that knowledge. Fast.
Now the second habit that will make you a genius is watching podcasts and videos. But I'm not talking about watching pointless cat videos or podcasts that lower your IQ. I'm talking about watching videos that will help you level up in life.
So some podcasts that I would recommend watching are Andrew Huberman's podcast on health, How to Get Rich Without Getting Lucky by Naval, The Colinlin and Samir Podcast where they interview online creators, Diary of a CEO, and My First Million if you want to learn more about startups. Now you don't want to be just watching these podcasts passively. You want to be actively writing notes as you listen to these podcasts because chances are if you're just watching podcasts passively You're gonna forget that information the next hour now some other youtubers that will help you become a genius Of course if you want to build an aesthetic body you watch David laid if you want to learn more about writing and focus Maybe watch Dan Colin and if you want to become an intellectual Chad, well, of course, there's this Asian guy that you should scribe Now the final thing you want to do to become super smart is to become a creator.
I'm talking about creating videos on YouTube, writing blogs, tweeting, and inspiring people online. Guys, whenever I read a book nowadays, I get super excited because I know that I can share it with you guys. I know that when I learn something, I can create a video like the one you're watching right now to help inspire and motivate you. So not only should you consume that knowledge in the form of books and podcasts, but you should also apply it and share it with others.
And it's also a high income skill that can make you filthy rich. But more importantly, it's so fulfilling. That feeling where you can help millions of people improve their lives is just priceless. And along the way, you also become smarter because you do that self-education and you have that accountability.
You have that audience online which can also change your life. I went from zero to 100,000 subscribers in less than a year and you can do the same. I'm super grateful for all of you guys and our family is growing. But the point is try to create from what you consume, create something for the world and give value to other people. people.
And by doing so, you'll become super smart and you also build a fun social circle where you can meet cool people and make new friends. So I hope you guys got lots of value from this video.
