Moonshot for Mining, Minerals, and Manufacturing (M4M Cube) Program
Objective: Support development of Novel In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) solutions for mining, mineral processing, & advanced manufacturing for both lunar and Earth environments
Financial Support: Canadian Space Agency (CSA)
Goals:
Dual-use applications on Earth and in space
Strengthen Canada's leadership in space
Revitalize long-term competitiveness of key industrial sectors
Key Pillars and Criteria for Engen Projects
Process Innovation: Must align to mining, mineral processing, or advanced manufacturing; dual-purpose (Earth and Moon)
Transformative: Development of novel advanced manufacturing tools/techniques offering competitive advantage
Collaborative: Minimum of two Canadian industry partners (at least one SME with less than 500 employees globally); academic research collaborations encouraged
Solution-Focused: Generate commercial and economic benefits, path to commercialization, job creation
Enduring: Provide broader benefits to Canada's space and manufacturing ecosystem
Out-of-Scope Projects
Activities benefiting only one firm/organization
Projects feasible without M4M funding
Earth-only or lunar-only projects
Non-linked to mining, processing, or advanced manufacturing
Product development/design or routine changes
