Major Regions of the Body

  • Axial Region:
    • Includes head, neck, and trunk
    • Mnemonic: Use an "ax" to cut down a "trunk"
  • Appendicular Region:
    • Includes upper and lower limbs
    • Appendage is something that attaches or comes off another structure

Axial Region Details

Head Region

  • Cephalic: Entire head region
    • Mnemonic: "Ce" to see and "phalic" to lick
  • Cranial: Refers to the skull
    • Mnemonic: Cranial rhymes with brainial
  • Frontal: Forehead
    • Mnemonic: Front is four(head)
  • Ocular: Eye region
    • Mnemonic: Use "binoculars" for ocular
  • Otic: Ear region
    • Mnemonic: "Otoscope" for otic
  • Nasal: Nose region
    • Mnemonic: Nasal spray for nose
  • Buccal: Cheek area
