I guess you can kind of see the scale of this entire place right now. Giant giant buildings. It's actually just one huge building. Huge exhibition hall. Kind of like the LA Auto Show. CES exhibitions are not new for us. But Shanghai is at least for out of specs. This is our first time here. We have one day to kind of explore whatever we can and I'm gonna try to give you a full tour of the whole space at least all the car brands because there are so many brands here. Tesla is not here which I think says something because basically when I'm reading articles about the Shangh's like h all these Tesla killers and for once I feel like instead of just a headline like news grab thing like that's actually kind of true. So many of these companies throw the American car brands to shame at least in a lot of ways. So, we're going to see what we can explore this with me and Jess. Uh, we're trying to understand the layout of the land. I actually like how this is laid out because there's like eight huge halls and they're all kind of done in a spiral. Not really spiral, like a emanating like a fourleaf clover situation. Yeah. And you can walk through the middle to connect to every single one. So, you can go from six to three and whatever just by going through the middle, which is kind of a cool setup. So, we're going to go explore really the car ones. Um, there are like eight halls dedicated to cars. Before we get too deep into this, how was your experience going through security getting into this? The facial recognition requirements of entering this were next level. Yeah. U security literally like we're starting this tour at like 11:00. I don't even know where to go. It's really interesting. We're starting this tour at like 11:00 and we got here like well we were supposed to get here like 9:00 but that didn't happen either cuz the buses were late. So it's just everything's been a catastrophe really getting in and the Yeah. the security line to like get our passport looked and our faces scanned was was crazy. So I guess get here early if you're coming to this thing. Yeah. Um but otherwise once we're in here you can just kind of walk around anywhere because you already got through the main security. All right. Welcome to Hall 3. Um, huge. Like I said, I'm going to say that for all these. They're all huge. We have SIC right here. Don't really know who they are or what they do, but they have a press conference coming up soon. And that's going to be some of the challenge with this video is we're trying to avoid the press conferences mostly for audio sake. All these companies are typically hosting press conferences, either unveiling something or maybe just highlighting stuff they already have. Um, right here we have rowaway. I don't know how would you say that. I have no idea. No idea. But, um, I've seen a bunch of these cars on the road, even once we got here, because a lot of them are taxis, actually. Uh, like when we got to the airport, I saw a million I'm just going to say rowi taxis. Um, yeah. I don't know. I don't know anything about them, but they have a bunch of different models. They have vans, crossovers, sedans. They all kind of look very plain. Jane, I don't know if you have anything. Yeah. I mean, they look like uh typical economy sedan. Just a very very basic car is my understanding. Like it feels kind of like almost Lexusish. I don't know. But it's funny. Like even this is like one of the most plain looking cars out here. Oh, no soft closed doors. Dang. But nice door. So, very very plain Jane looking car and I don't know, it still feels kind of nice. The logo is really interesting. Like it looks like it should be on like an executive Rolls-Royce situation. Um, and then you'll see a lot of Chinese cars all have the Chinese representation but also English lettering. Even if it's a car that's like sold elsewhere, like you'll see a Hyundai Elantre on the road here. It'll have a Launcher on the right side, but then also the Chinese characters on the left side, which is interesting. Over here is one of my dream cars. Um, I guess this is another part of SIC, by the way. We're just going to kind of gloss over that. Almost looks like they have like kids interaction stuff, which is kind of cool, but I don't think there's any kids here. But this is MG. MG is um another global brand, very popular in Britain. I mean, we've all heard of the MG Roadsters of old. Actually, my grandpa had one, and that's who I owe my interest in Roadsters. This is the Cyberster by MG. I am such a huge fan of the existence of this car. I just say the existence. I haven't driven it. I haven't even had a good up close look yet. So, let's see if we can go check these out in person here. Um, but even just like it's gorgeous. It's small. It's compact. It's a two-seater. It's not even a two plus two. It's got the funny doors. Like, this genuinely is something I would love to roll up to for dinner. Um, I'm obsessed with the pink leather. That's like, is it pink or is it like It's almost like the colors we've seen with Porsche like Porsche's uh what do you call it? The I don't know some of the roadsters of Porsche's past. Actually, probably now too cuz you can option anything you want on a Porsche. But this color is gorgeous. Wow. All the details. They did kind of the grab handle thing that looks kind of like the center console of the Corvette, which is kind of funny. Um, but yeah, I'm a huge fan of all of this. It's funny. They have a GoPro going. I think capturing a time lapse from the car's point of view, which is pretty cool. But yep, that's the MG Cyberster. One of my dream cars. Um, and definitely a car I would love a long-term loan on MG if we can look at that. Look at the look at the tail lights on this thing. They're just like arrows. Like, how how much more clear do you have to get than that? Um, it looks like MG has maybe brought some new products out. If you look over here, I don't know if these are Yeah, it looks like a concept SUV of some sort, but then also another Cyberster over there. So, they seem very leaning on Cyberster in this show. They do make a lot of other cars. We've seen them in all sorts of countries, of course, the the UK. We saw a bunch of MGs in Mexico in a showroom in Mexico City. But they seem like they're just all Cyberster right here, which I'm a big fan of. So, I'll take that. But I don't know anything about this little SUV concept. Cyber X says the license plate. But it's cool. It's kind of like cute and small. Like it looks like your your 400 box but like shrunk. What do you think? I don't know. I'm not a fan of these like boxy cars. This gives me like Discovery vibes. So, I think I think that's going to be a continuing theme with a lot of these um well the Chinese specific cars because watch a lot of them are kind of blatantly ripoffs of like other car designs. Like a lot of people equate it to GTA Grand Theft Auto the video game. It has like most cars people recognize but they're tweaked just enough to not infringe on like copyright. And that's how some of the Chinese brands do feel, at least to an American coming here who's not aware of many of them. But a lot of them, ironically, are better than the original, which is kind of interesting. Okay, so I got a bit more context here. S AIC is a huge car company. Actually, I think the biggest car company conglomerate in China. Uh it is, I guess, government funded or owned somehow. And so they are what make MG. But also this company that I was saying, rowway, it's actually pronounced wrongway. Wrong. Wrong. How do you say it? Yeah. And it's like which is funny as a English speaker like calling a car wrong way. I mean that's kind of a but it actually translates to wait what was it? Honor and power. Honor and power. So that's another company I guess that also has its own subsidiaries. So it's just the the logistics and complexity of how all these companies interconnect are super confusing. But I guess it dumbs down to for the end user, the end consumer, like who cares the background? They just want to know how good is the car. So hopefully at some point by some point we can get our hands on everything and test everything here. Um but that's what also brings me to sic Volkswagen. This is a joint venture between Volkswagen as we know it, but also sic. So, they have their own cars that are different than the Volkswagens we probably know of. And that's what I'm seeing, too, is there's a lot of Chinese companies that are like their own version, such as like Audi. Audi has global car company, but also like its own Chinese version, branch of Audi. These colors must be really popular in China because we've seen a lot of cars that are kind of a purple/blue. But here's okay, Tiguan. That's a familiar name plate. Yeah, modern Volkswagen design language. So, it'd be really interesting to like understand the underpinnings of how all these brands are formed and how they run. Like, we as the inconsumer and even sometimes journalists have no idea what really goes on in the background. So, let's keep looking over here. I'm curious to see what other models there are. and if there's anything we're familiar with. Okay, so here's like the pat also in kind of a purple color and it looks kind of Arteionish with the light bar. Um, we also have ID4. We have the ID3 which is kind of a Volkswagen Golf size situation that's fully electric. Um, so yeah, a lot of familiar things I guess. So, very interesting to see Volkswagen having their own separate booth from the other Volkswagen. I think Volkswagen themselves has another booth here, but that's it for this one. Actually, not the most interesting booth, I would say. Um, this one over here seems a bit more interesting. Just spotted a car that's dressed up somehow. So, this company, I guess, is I am not really sure what that means, but this is the car in question. Chinese. So, you're in Dubai. I don't even know what to make of it. But um I'd love to see Colton detail this use certain types of conditioners for the hair. I don't know. Jess, would you be ever be seen dri? I would drive it in California somewhere where it doesn't rain. I love this sign because it basically says that like life needs a level of like emotion or like empathy. And I think that's where they're drawing this from is like let's put emotion or empathy or like a level a next level of like comfort into cars and design. I would lay on that. It does look pretty comfortable. Well, let's go see if the less aggressive cars stack up. Okay. But it even has a tail. So yeah, it's like clearly a cat of some sort. Uh this is really funny. Even the wheels like look kind of cool. It's like arrow caps. Um okay. So, I don't know anything about this company, but it's just fun to see it raw for the first time. And that's another thing to keep in mind about this show in general is it is so packed and it's not even the public days yet. This is just like journalists and ex exhibitors day. So, it's really just journalists and other companies looking around seeing the competition, which is, you know, probably pretty good. But yeah, there's people holding cameras literally everywhere. But yeah, these are the IM cars. I didn't really gather that from the logo. I had to like look it up. But kind of interesting. They seem kind of nice. Door handles that pop out. Oh, they got kind of a yolk situation. The steering wheel. Do all of them? No. This one over here. This one has kind of the almost like the Lucid Gravity looking steering wheel, but screens everywhere. Tech everywhere. And that seems to be Oh, and then LAR up on top. So that seems to be um continuous theme with Chinese cars as well. It's just all the technology which kind of makes ours feel a bit less interesting. I saw this has M vision so like a lot of sensors on it for its own self-driving. Um so we're going to see ADAS probably exploding. We already seen it doing really well in China. Kyle's done a couple videos on some of the ADAS systems here already. Um FSD notably is not available in China. Seems like there's some sort of conflict thing with Tesla in China as far as I can tell, which may also be why they're not here. I don't really know why Tesla isn't here, but I feel like that's a glaring omission or they just like not super proud of their cars. But here's another instance of eyes on the car adding emotion into what I think it is. Here's another thing at the back of this car is another thing I'm starting to see with a lot of Chinese vehicles. And it's kind of like screens for lack of a better term. Just a bunch of LEDs programmed to do something. In this case, be a cat. Uh but also said words like thank you. And I actually love this idea. I'd love to have like be able to drive down the road and like someone like lets you merge in and you could be like thank you. Um or like when you're passing someone on a canyon road and they pull off to let you pass. Here it says auto parking, auto driving. That's another thing to start thinking about with a lot of these cars is like we go this way. Um cars that are starting to use autonomous driving systems. Um it's important I think to kind of let the public know or do you think it's important? I don't know. Is it important to like tell people when you're using FSD or whatever driving system you're using? A lot of Chinese cars are starting to use the color light blue to denote the fact that you're driving autonomously, but this would be another way having text on the back of the car. Hopefully, everyone understands, I guess, the English text, but I guess it could be other languages, too. But having like just a color, like super light blue lights sometimes by the mirror. That's what some cars have started to do. Well, it's interesting, too, because a lot of like taxis I've seen in Hong Kong used to hang their own signs. in the rear view like windshield and that would display messages and so it's interesting that they've now like the popularity of that has resulted in them now incorporating it into the cars themselves. Kind of makes sense. So also in the IM booth you'll see AIOS that's another thing I want to mention as a another thing a lot of Chinese companies are super focused on. I mean, I guess every company is like we're in this super super tech forward world and so that probably stands for artificial intelligence operating system and everyone's really jumping head first into software and the systems supporting everything. So, I think that's something I'd love to start covering. And it's hard because not a lot of American automakers talk about even the computer chips in their car and what they're capable of, but it seems like all the Chinese cars are very adamant about explaining that. like saying like, "Oh, we have a Snapdragon like 8295 chip powering everything plus like two Nvidia chips powering our self-driving." So, I think it's very interesting that Americans just kind of like omit that because maybe they're not the best. And I think that is a challenge. Like you get into even like the most normal, lame, boring Chinese cars, they still seem to have really, really good software. Right here we have Cadillac. That's a familiar brand. and their slogan saying love drives the future. Um, love notably is an acronym kind of talking about their four models. Well, I guess they have five. They might even have more here in the in China, but as far as I know, it's the let's see, Lyric, Optic, Vistic, and Escalade IQ, which I believe are the four models displayed right up there. So, that would make sense. They also have the Celesteic. but that's a C and that kind of breaks up the acronym although it spells clove I guess if you put them all together. Um and in China though they also have some cars with different names in the US. So that's also a bit confusing. Here is one of the Audi boosts. That's also confusing cuz Audi has another section in another hall and I'm not really sure why. But here you can see the Audi four rings but then also the Audi branding separate here. Not even going to look at the Audi ones over there cuz they look normal and boring. But this like E5 Sportback like we have nothing like that and that's kind of the design language they're taking here in China. So it looks like a press conference is starting with Wuing which is right here in this booth. Um okay so Wuing press conference has just started and it's very very loud so I'm going to talk like this so you guys can actually hear me. Uh here we have the Buick booth which has this really sick concept on a middle stage. No idea what it is. Guess see if it has Oh, the GS Electra. That's pretty awesome. Uh but we have Buick minivans which are huge here in China. Actually literally huge. They're kind of they're kind of big. Here's another Electra minivan concept. So maybe all their concepts are called Electra. And then here is the GL8 or the Glate as I call it. That's actually what picked us up from the airport. An old version with like wooden floor. It was really cool. Um, so yeah, breezing through Buick. That's a company we're familiar with that is very different than what we see in the US. Then we get over here to Bao, I guess, which is awesome. This is like tiny little off-roaders that are almost like Ford Escape SL like the Suzuki Suzuki Jimny type. Like look at this thing. This is so cool. Oh my gosh. And this is now the what third cubic off-road vehicle that we've seen in just two of the what six halls. Yeah, no kidding. So, um I think this is a huge uh theme that we're seeing is just all the off-roaders. I kind of want to see what else they have over here. Bjan. I've never even heard of this company. Here's another one right here. Maxis is another company that's like super off-road focused. They even have this full like camper setup. What in the world? And then you have this like camper van that's like very reminiscent of the old Volkswagen bus camping situations. That's awesome. This thing is awesome. I'm taking a lot of screenshots for my brother while I'm walking through here. Then there's like a Maxis truck. I don't even know what. There's a winch on the front. Lights. Huge grill. Oh, it looks kind of like an avalanche. Look at this. That's sick, too. Caffy bears are everywhere. That's a theme recently. I'm not really sure why, but this is um might be another sic company as far as I can tell. This is the whole like camper setup. Apologize. is I'm just like breezing through everything, but we're trying to get out of here before the press conference is uh too loud. Okay, well, Belgium had just a few more cars. Yeah, pretty generic stuff as far as I can tell. So, we're going to head back out, which I guess we have to go all the way back down. Uh but that was basically hall three. So, it's so much to take in. I'm so tired already. We're just one hall into this. But yeah, and it's interesting. This hall was mainly dominated by the SIC collabs or brands. Um, so interesting to see them really consolidating all of their kind of like showcase or showcase pieces together. And maybe that's why Audi's here, but also in another hall. Maybe this is like all the SIC stuff cuz SIC also has partnerships with GM, which is probably why Buick and Cadillac are both here. Now we're in hall 7. I don't know why I'm saying that. The numbers mean nothing to you guys, but in case you're curious. Um, here is Neo. Obviously, huge company, huge booth. I mean, it looks like the Apple campus up there, which again is funny. It's a theme of more Chinese stuff knocking off Apple a lot, which I think is fine. Um, well, sort of, but you know, you see Huawei, like other companies, Xiaomi making Apple adjacent looking things with their software, their hardware. We're kind of used to that by now. But Neo is pretty interesting. They have a lot of vehicles available. Kyle's done some stuff with uh I think he did a full review or a full tour of the ET9, which I think is this one up here on the flagship car. Very high-end fancy sedan. We actually saw them dancing it earlier. Like someone was playing violin and the car was literally dancing next to them, which was super fun. I [Music] got they have ET7, ET5, ET9. Um, a theme to note with pretty much all Chinese cars, if you see a 9, that means like flagship. That's like the highest end model. Like the Lincoln Co. nine. The Zeer 9 uh 900. I don't know. Anytime you see nine, that's what that means. Um over in the corner, Firefly. I guess I'll show you a quick glimpse of that, but we have a whole dedicated video showing the Firefly. It's a very interesting new car that is under the Neo umbrella, literally in this case. Uh and it's a very, very tiny, well, not super tiny like but fairly small fourseater. Maybe it was five seats even, but the four-door interesting looking car. I think it looks like a bug. It has the name of a bug. It makes sense. But this here is the Firefly. Um, I actually adore it. I think it's a really cute. I think it's quirky. I think it's Well, it is cheap. It's like 20 grand. Actually, less than 20 starting price. Um, so I think that's great to have a car that cheap. A lot of people have asked us to cover more of these cheap cars. We could try. So that's why I did a whole video with this one just uh recently here. But yeah, weird headlight design, the same exact tail light design, just looks like a bug. Interesting race version that's well bright orange. And I think they have really, really, really fun colors. Okay, so across from Neo is Tank, which is hilariously awesome name. Um, and it's kind of making I don't know Bronco Inos defender looking things. very off-road focused. They're actually giving a press conference right now. Um, which yeah, there's a lot of press conferences happening, like I said. But pretty cool. Definitely not battery electric. These are combustion, maybe hybrid. We see a lot of those in uh China. But yeah, I don't know. I like seeing all the off-roaders. I don't know how popular off-roading is in China, but maybe it has a huge following. I'd be I'd be pretty curious on that. Uh, 4 L V8 engine. That's what they're showing off. Hell yeah, brother. I used to see that sign and think America, but maybe I'll start thinking China. Okay, over next to tank is Wei, I guess it's called. Um, very very quirky looking, very Beetleesque. Like this is like a four-door but like new but like old Beetle. Um, and then behind you is the Aura, which looks kind of panameraish, but then you come around to the front and it looks like even more Beetleike. Once again, I I don't even know what I think of these things. Like, I see some Porsche, I see some Beetle, I see some Fiat. Um, yeah, I don't really know, but I like it. I like how it's very different and then most everything out here yet still somehow a copy which is really funny. But this feels I guess like a juke. I don't know. I just keep relating it to things. But I guess in China it's a completely different landscape of cars. So maybe my relations are not super useful. All right. We're going to walk our way past the beetle looking cars across the alley to BMW. That's a company we are familiar with. And just like everyone else, it seems like they do have China specific vehicles and models, but also European specific vehicles and models, like a lot of things we just haven't really seen much of in the US. The US has specific models that they know Americans will buy. Well, what's drawing a lot of people's attention is of course the Noya Classo. Now, I have seen this before, but in camouflage, and now we can see it pretty much closer to production. I'm going to say it's still not production. I mean, you can see the wheels are probably bigger than they would be. No sign of door handles at all. The interior still feels too Spartan. Even the pillars feel slightly unrealistic. Like, if they really have airbags in there, I'd be surprised. But even so, I think it's a really gorgeous looking car. I like the design trend that BMW is taking with Noa Classa in all of its renditions, but it's cool to see this new Noya Classic here, but then across to the right is uh kind of what its design is based on, an older vintage BMW with some of the same design motif. So, it's cool to see they brought this here as well, the 1500, which I don't even know when this was, but um it's like, yeah, this was like new BMW at some point years ago. And it's funny that they brought this out side by side with the Noya Classa to see some of the same motifs side by side, just basically showcasing BMW design language is continued. We also have the Noya Kasa X right here, which a lot of people are also very, very interested in. This is so cool. Uh, I did check this out in LA um almost a year ago now, so it's probably closer to production, but it still looks pretty pre-pro um like I saw it last time in LA. Another convertible. Another clip of me drooling. This is Yeah, I'll take one of these. Um, this looks really, really comfortable. Really cozy. Kind of like LC 500 but like BMW's tape. And I like that. This is technically a concept. It's the sky top concept. So, it's almost more of a target. But look at how the paint on the back kind of has this ombre effect. Is that how you would say it, Jess? Ombre. What's What's the fading? Ombre. The fading of colors from that plastic into the silver. That is really cool. I've never seen that before. I bet it's expensive. I don't even know if they would offer that, but it's still Oh my gosh. I would totally drive this. Okay, across from BMW, we can see Haval, which you can't tell me that's not a Land Cruiser and that's not like a Lexus. Like, it does feel like more more copying, more off-roading, which I yeah, more SUVing, just there's so many companies. It's crazy. But I guess that's not unlike the US actually. Um, across from that, something I'm more interested in, Lotus. Lotus is a company has always intrigued me. Uh, they've had, you know, the Elise, the Espri, the AAA, the Amea, the Electra. Every Lotus model since the Lotus 11 starts with an E, which is funny cuz there's like Lotus like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. They got to 11 and they decided to quit the numbers and just switch to E because 11 starts with E. I don't know why. Uh, but you have some interesting concept car right here. I'm guessing that's new or I don't really know what that's from, but it's also on the screen above, which is interesting. Maybe they'll show the name. Uh, theory one. That's what it is. Okay, so that's a new concept they unveiled, I think, this week. I think it looks amazing. I've always liked Lotus' designs. Uh, we can see the Eva right here, which is like their crazy hypercar, crazy unoptanium, ridiculously expensive. Um, I think they entered it into a race and it like crashed instantly cuz it's so powerful, which is funny. Like a good problem. Like, is that good or bad PR? I don't know. Probably bad. But, um, really cool. I mean, it's really just their hyper car. Single windscreen wiper. Looks reminds me of a Koenig in that way. And then we see the Amira. Love this car. This is one that Kyle and I did a review on for his personal channel. That was one of my favorite moments of my career, just spending a day in the canyons with this thing. Uh and then we have the AMA and the Electra behind which are battery electric vehicles. Part sharing from Gily. I mean Lotus is owned by Gily. So that explains why those some shared components with Zeer, Allstar, etc. Um yeah, pretty impressive. behind that is Mansery, which is just crazy. Like, think Rolls-Royce, Mercedes, whatever those Chinese vans are. It's like you buy one of those and you're like, you know what? It's not nice enough. So then Mansory touches it and makes it even crazier. Uh, and this whole place is like roped off cuz they're too expensive. That's kind of funny. And then looking at mini across the way. We've already seen a lot of the mini stuff. Not going to go over there. Trying to keep this tour reasonable. And then we have Bentley down here. Okay, Bentley. Yeah, not really much to to talk about other than super luxurious, super nice, classy as ever, shiny, and the headlights will blind you when they're off cuz they're all crystally. Yeah, I like I like Bentley's a lot. So, that's all seven. Okay, so what we just saw at Mansory, I guess, was some of the Katy vans. I don't really know if that's how you say it, but Kei just look like a huge luxury van company. Again, something you wouldn't see in the US, but I wish you did because vans are sick and effective. And it's funny that so many people in the US want big SUVs, but they want it for the store space, not for the off-roading, not for the sport of the sport utility vehicle that SUV stands for. This is what I'm talking about. Look, this is like three rows of luxury lounge. It's called the Everest, and it looks like an absolutely fantastic place to chill. I doubt any of these are electric. They're probably all gassers, but uh curious on the price tag, actually. Pretty pretty interesting. And they started 1989, so they've been doing it for a while. Next to them, Lexus. This feels pretty familiar. They got a lot of matte paint going on here, or I guess satin paint. Um but yeah, see Land Cruiser. Uh, I don't actually know what all these models are called in China because a lot of times cars will have global models but use different monikers for the names in different regions, different markets. That's probably what'll happen here. But then look at this Lexus van, the LM. So, we don't get that in the US either. And that is like look at this the statess of this grill. Like, let me stand next to it. like Jordan for scale. This is wild. But also looks like probably a pretty nice place to be. Um, good st Oh, it's even got a divider between the front and the back, which is very, very elegant, I guess. A big TV screen in there. This is like total cockpit. You got like airline trays and everything. That's fantastic. So, I would totally take a nap in there. Doesn't smell that great to me. Like it smells too fragranty. It's like Yeah, they sprayed a bunch of perfume in there or something or like a breeze instead of I don't know. Kyle would be interested in this right here. That's very interesting. He could probably tell you everything about it cuz well, he has one although he's selling it. He might have already sold it actually. But one of the best engineered vehicles of all time. This is also really cool. Whatever this is. Yeah. I have no idea what this company is, but those are the GZ G50 and the VZ 50 or 40. Just looks like elegant, stately cars from like the '9s. And they might be, but they also might be new. I don't actually know. Okay, so Jess just talked with one of the individuals. What they say? Um, so this brand is called Sheri. It has the Phoenix logo. These are some of the older models, but I guess they're known for being one of the classiest cars in China. Now, you can see this is one of the older models here. Looks like this was in production until about 2018. These two here are the two newer models. So, a pretty oh stark contrast of what this is 2018 till now. So, this is current this is present and these are also I think present. Okay. And the ones up front were 20 until 2017. Yeah. But yeah, you I mean look that just looks straight up like Rolls-Royce Colin in the back there. That's like the Rolls-Royce Colin from GTA. So that's really funny. Um but yeah, very very very nice. Very classy. I mean, they said they're the classiest. I don't know if I trust them cuz they said Well, Lexus said that. Oh, it was the Lexus rep that said these are one of the classiest. Maybe there's something valid about that. Okay. Sure. We kind of glossed over um there's a Toyota Booku booth which I think is just some robotic stuff. Horse is a powertrain solution I think by Gily um or at least adjacent to that. So we could just skip over that. And what do we have here? More ah Toyota. So Toyota's China stuff. bit different and probably a bit better, which is also interesting. Like in the US, we're like so bummed by the Toyota BZ4X, but I think they already have the BZ3X here in China. I'm curious if they have anything here that we've seen. But yeah, these are all BZ. This is BZ5, BZ3, BZ7, and then the BZ4X, which we all Yeah, I don't know. But yeah, look at this huge like Toyota battery electric lineup that we don't have in the US. This is crazy. Wow. I love the orange interior. Yeah, this is like basketball or even more orange than basketball. I mean, it feels very much like a luxury interior. Yeah, this this really feels Lexus to me, which I I get confused sometimes, but like all these cars have lidar except for the BZ4X because that's like super global, but all the Chinese Toyota EVs have lidar and just look super nice. They actually look fancier than Lexus. That's always sometimes confusing when you have the subbrand, the premium brand almost combating batting heads against each other. See, this is the kind of exhibit I'm talking about. This tells me everything I need to know. Toyota's cool. This is Toyota's future city built in Lego. Love that. Look at these door handles. Like they fold like into the car. I'm so intrigued. Oh, and then the seat. The seat folds out. What is happening? We have people dancing around the car. Um, wow. This is I mean, talk about a really ergonomic way to get in and out of your car. very um friendly to people who need that amount of ingress and egress. I'm really curious about robo taxi LAR everything. And there's the light blue lights I was talking about that show you I don't know if the phone will actually pick it up, but that shows you the car is operating in autonomous mode and even has a a thing on the front there. I don't know what that says, but okay. I want to see this off-road park in the middle of Toyota that's like shrunk down. This is so cool. See, this is like living room goals. Like having this kind of off-road park to like drive your car around with a little FPV camera on it. Kind of interesting hobby that people have. Oh, they're driving one right there. That is cool. Jess thinks this is cooler than our 4Runner. Why don't we get these in the US? That is really freaking awesome. Even just the white lettering on the tire like doesn't bother me. Yep. I dig that. Uh, do you know what any of these companies are? No. Like I've never heard of or seen any of that before. This is crazy. I think it's especially interesting like we've seen a lot of the vans and like luxury vehicles. I think it's important to note that there are a lot of people in China who have drivers or chauffeers. Like that's a pretty regular thing or common thing here. And so a lot of this not only catering to consumers, but also to like tour companies or shower companies who have drivers um or consumers who then hire their own drivers and have their drivers drive their car. So it's interesting to see how much of this has really catered to like the luxury market for that reason. Yeah, I agree. That's something that a lot of US people don't understand. They don't understand not driving their own car, which is why all the back seats over here are so dope. In the US, the back seat is complete afterthought. Side note, look at these wheels. Like this is like monoblock wishes. Like these are like straight up discs on whatever this thing is. Love that. Yeah. I don't know what any of these brands are. Um Oh, we have Nissan BYD over here. We should definitely check that out. This is BYD over here. Um some sort of dragon on this car. Looks awesome. Even the Wow. All the like arrow pieces on the back and even the mirrors are like pieces of a dragon. That is so cool. Okay, for those who are uh gamers, this is actually the Kong edition of uh the BYD car, which is sick. Would you drive this? I would drive this. Honestly, I'm not going to lie. There are very few cars that are like flashy like this that I would drive and this is one of them. Right. This is just the sea of BYDs. Um there's so many I don't even know where to start. We're not going to like cover all of them, but like we actually experienced our BYD uh our first BD experience was in Mexico City a few months ago. Every Uber seems like was a BYD dolphin which uh is awesome. Uh BYD stands for build your dreams in case you didn't know. and some of them have it spelled out. Here's another cool probably special edition or oneoff, I don't even know. This is a common way for companies to showcase their technology systems within the car that you would normally see hidden. So, this is showing their cameras, the computers, all the sensors around the car, just showing what's going on under the skin. So, up here we have some cameras. We have um I'm guessing radar. Probably a LAR scanner up top. Uh ultrasonic sensors everywhere. Yeah. So, it's pretty standard 800 volt system. Awesome. Um but that's pretty a lot of car most of the cars here actually have some sort of system like that. Here's a dolphin. Love this thing. At least I think it's a dolphin. There's no dolphin sign. Yeah, it says dolphin. Okay. I couldn't read it in Chinese. It says dolphin in Chinese. Now, if this had been our Uber that picked us up in Mexico City, that would have been awesome. I love this. BYD has like some really fun enthusiasm going on for the nerd communities. Here's a reminder that we don't get wagons in the US. Like, pretty much no more wagons, but BYD will make them. Everyone else is getting them. Europe, they buy them. I don't know what the percentage of wagon sales in China is, but um probably not as much as Europe, but still cool that they offer a wagon cuz not everyone does. At the same time, most important, oh, they're selling clothes combined with the inflow elements. Uh, for example, there's a nit with the asymmetric ni layered top which is inspired by the Chinese traditional landscape painting. So over all this is our attitude and trying to bring our Nissan design DK into the lifestyle. So, I don't know if everybody knows, but our design studio in Shanghai is this really beautiful studio, 34. All right, welcome to hall five. That is a big helicopter jet thing. Uh, presumably electric. I did see batteries, chargers in there. No idea what SUV of V is, but now I want to research it. So, that's affected marketing right there. This is Eve. Also, I think battery/energy adjacent robotics apparently. Um, oh, these are all robots that probably dance and wave and that's pretty amazing. Okay, cool. Um, I wish we had time to like do a detailed every single booth, but there's literally not enough time. We have to rush as it is. So, rushing through hall five now. Xping. This company is awesome. I'm actually going to breeze through it because Kyle was just in China recently to see Xping. So presumably he shot some videos. If he didn't, uh, we can all yell at Kyle in the comments because he let us down. But Xping is a really cool company. They build, you know, a lot of vehicles, but also flying cars, which is also cool. And also little drones that come out of the back of vans. Um, yeah, I I'm pretty impressed with their design language, everything. And you see these on the roads quite a bit here, but also even in Europe, I I've seen some X-pink. So, they seem to be relatively international. Um, not sure what HSD is across the way. Horizon Robotics, but more robot stuff. Maybe a partner with cars. You have to understand this is this is both cars but also um car company adjacent joint ventures uh parts suppliers tier one tier 2 stuff. No idea what these are but I'm intrigued or maybe brains 100 graduation cap on. So like your brain graduate or something. I don't know. But here's Audi um again in a different hall. And it's funny because on the map this points out there's Audi four rings and there's Audi four letters. So this is apparently Audi four letters which is yes um the Chinese Audi. And I actually really like the logo. Very simple, very clean. I mean the four rings is pretty iconic but maybe this will become a trend for the rest of the world. Or maybe not. It's really really strange when these companies do combos. Oh wow, that's trippy. Jess, is it confusing as a um consumer to see like brands that are global but be so different like like we just saw Nissan in the last booth in the last haul? They look nothing like the Nissan we get in the US. They're not the same models at all. Should they have just been a different company? No. Well, I mean, I think that's like that's like what I to me is like a signifier of a good company is one that can adapt to the individual markets and then that way you get learnings from each market, right? Like if there are things that the US are starting to think about like trends are global nowadays. So if there are things that the US are trying to think about that are starting to become more popular in China, it's easy for them to test things right across other countries, across other markets, see how things work and then really you have that technology or design IP um in different countries kind of ready to go. That makes sense, I guess. Yeah, because it is it is confusing, but also like I hope Nissan America is looking at Nissan China. Yeah. Uh, and I'm curious how much Audi plays together. Like, look at that old Audi Sport Quattro. That thing is super cool. I'm a big fan of of the Audi stuff. I want to come and look at the Volkswagen concepts they unveiled this week. Um, we were going to try to do a dedicated video, but we just literally don't have time. But that's okay. Um, cuz they're just concepts. There's not like a review anyways, but I thought they'd be worth putting on camera either way. So, we can look past the Tiguan, the Tendor, the Tron. Um, I didn't realize the Tharu. Volkswagen has so many cars that start with the letter T. It's so funny. But right up here, we should be able to see the new concepts ID Evo, the ID Aura, and the ID Era, which say that five times fast, but it's basically a small SUV, a bigger SUV, and a sedan. And this is probably uh a glimpse into Volkswagen's upcoming design language, which I'm pretty excited about. So, I'm intrigued. Curious what you guys think of these concepts, the wheel designs. I mean, with concept cars, you really just have to look at the overall vibe and then maybe the wheels because that's what'll eventually come into play as production vehicles idealistically. Um, I hope they stick close to the design language. Honestly, I like how I'm I like what I'm looking at with all three of these quite a bit. So, thoughts, Jess, any love or hate? It's not for me. Not for you. Not exciting enough. Yeah, it just feels a little bit like I don't know. If you're doing a little bit of everything, you're really doing nothing. That kind of feels like this. There's nothing that feels too unique about it. Yeah, I can see that. Well, over here we also have ID4X and more ID3s. This is again like one of those things where there's Volkswagen like the SIC booth, but then we also see this Volkswagen booth like we how we saw how we saw the Audi booth and also the new Audi booth. All right, moving on past all the ID everything. We skipped past Audi once again because the four ring section just really seemed like um typically the other cars, which is cool. Like I have nothing wrong with Audi. Over here we have Itto, which I think is a subsidiary of Huawei. Okay. I think it was launched in partnership or somehow related to Huawei. Um but yeah, they're another another electric vehicle company that is I think relatively upscale from the looks of it. Um, they have the M7, the M8, the M9. Once again, nine being the top spec. That seems to be rule of thumb at this point. And then we have Volvo across the way. Love Volvo. This is the EM90, but really cool van. Kind of similar to the Zeer 9, but it is Volvo. I think it looks pretty nice, so I'm fine. Happy that it exists. Um, EX30 over here. That's going to be another bit more cheaper consumer car. I think they're super adorable. Love this bright color way. Is this too bright? Is it ugly? I don't know. I kind of dig it. Okay, just takes it. Um, yeah. Volvo is very, you know, famous for safety. They have the skeleton car on the stage showing the insides of it, showing maybe this craft structure, showing how safe it is. Um, and then yeah, the hood pop not to show a frunk, but to show an engine because Volvo does have electrics, but also um very complex internal combustion engine systems. Often times turbocharged, supercharged, plug-in hybrid sometimes all at the same time. It's a lot, but that's Volvo. Nothing else too crazy here. Probably an EX90 somewhere. EX40. Um, yeah, that's that's Volvo. Um, more IDO stuff, more interesting colors, but I'm really excited about Porsche. Let's see what Porsche has in store in this haul. So, Porsche feels like just a fancy high-end, but not too fancy, like approachable fancy living room and a garage. Like, you have this sick GT3 right here on garageish checkered flag flooring. Race tires everywhere. Love that. You have this really interesting pink pig Porsche. Love that, too. I don't even know the story, but I like it. Um, I like the color. Uh, you have vintage Porsches up to the right like stacked in like a garage looking thing. Well, some vintage, some newer. I see some uh old the car racing Porsches. New TYON in the bay over there. Oh, now this is special. This is TYON Facelift GTS, which I don't think we've launched or seen launched in the US yet. So, that really intrigues me. Awesome. Looks like some sort of Speedster back there. Awesome. Ooh, the 911 Spirit 70. Nice and vintage looking. Awesome. Wheels on the walls. And um yeah, there is no substitute. So, this is Porsche China. I really wasn't familiar with how Porsche portrayed themselves in China, but I'm digging this. Um, we also have the Macan EV over here, of course. We'll have to check in with Dave at some point, see how much Kyle's dad likes his Macan EV, cuz he's had it for months at this point. Um, Cayenne stuff. No electric Cayenne yet, but I'm sure that's coming. And then parts on the wall, like a 918 Spider engine number. So random. 1965 Porsche steering wheel over there. This is sweet. Oh, and we have a Porsche store over here, which is one of the cooler stores, I'd have to say. Porsche Design has very cool store stuff. Um, a lot of Porsche dealerships sell Porsche Design things. Uh, I think it's pretty pretty sweet. I would definitely rough their swag. I don't even have a Porsche, but a lot of people aspire to it. So, the the branding makes sense, I think. So, the Panamera gets its own little special garage cuz I think it's really popular in China. That vibe of car like in a stately executive sedan, that's what speaks China to me from the Porsche brand. So, this kind of makes sense. It gets its own vibe of a room. The influencers here are wild. There's so many people talking to their phones and just literally like speaking like saying I don't know what would you say? They're saying so much like they're just like rattling off so much stuff to their phones. Yeah. I don't understand what's really happening. They're live streaming. Oh, they're like live streaming. They're live streaming and people are asking questions. Oh. And so they have their like it sounds like like they have their script, but they're also like reading the comments being like, "Oh yeah, like here's a closeup of a lime or like whatever." Okay. Okay. Well, that's really interesting. That makes sense because um I think a lot of today is a lot of influencers, exhibitors, uh media people getting essentially early access to the show. So a lot of the public is very interested. A lot of people are probably putting their content out today. Um, or like Jess said, live streaming and getting everything out as fast as possible to all the people in the public who are dying to see the show. All right, welcome to Hall 6. This is where there's a lot of ghee things happening. And Lee Auto. So Lee Auto does have a lot of vehicles here. Actually, pretty much all of them. You can see their whole lineup on the screen right there as of right now. So, all plug-in hybrids are actually extended range extender electric vehicles. Um, L8, L9, again, 9 being nice, and uh I forget what they're all called, probably all L7, L6, whatever. L meaning somehow range extender. Um, what's coming is the i8 and the i6. Those will be battery electric SUVs, probably sharing a platform, as far as I can tell, with the Mega. The Lee Auto Mega is such a sweet electric van. I actually have a whole dedicated video um talking about that van on the this channel. I think hopefully either coming soon or out by now um talking about the Lee Automega, all the details, showing you inside and out, showing you the software, all the fancy new features even for the new 2025 or maybe 26 model year. So, China's very fast to update things with model years. Uh, and even like midcycle refreshes happen faster than they do, I think, in the US. So, that whole video is really interesting to watch. Swivel captain's chairs, heated seats on all seven seats. That thing is totally wild. Right here we have what is Galaxy, which is now a brand under Ghily, which has, let's see if you can see it. That thing looks super sick. Definitely reminds me of the Scout Traveler, I think it is. And everyone is uh crowding around. It's crazy. This This hall has got to be one of the busiest. And also the one with no AC, so it is very hot in here. Um I actually sent Jess to go get water. Uh because we're dying. My voice is dying, but coverage will continue. Lincoln. Yes, Lincoln is an American company, but uh also totally a Chinese company. Uh and actually, I could totally see it. Like this thing feels like a stately Chinese vehicle to get around. So yeah, Lincoln, they're pretty cool. They even have I think is that some sort of van up on stage? No, it's just the Navigator black and gold or something or other. That thing is so cool. Escalade IQL. Nah, just this take this. So, a lot of the booths have really interesting unique uh giveaways, things to hand out for people. Like I guess Lincoln was doing little uh characters and yeah, pretty interesting. This company, I forget what Jess was talking about. I think she said it's called Gold Rose or Copper Rose or something. Also a very estately, fancy high-end limo type. I mean, you see the the bus way down there, the van, this car, which feels like Toyota Century, but then look at those look at those headlights. That's crazy. See if I can get a closer look. It does seem to be relatively private entry. Um, which is really funny. But look at the front of this car. Like that thing rolling down the road behind you. Terrifyingly awesome. But it's a very old and stately brand. Across from that, we have Giley's actual booth, I think. Um, the Ghillie stuff's a little interesting to me, a little confusing at times figuring out which company is which, but there's Gily uh hydrogen stuff there. Alternate fuel cell stuff. You have I think Lincoln Co. over here. Or maybe this is just more Gily with all the different cars showed out. Yeah, there's like a Zeke 009. Oh, this is just Seeker. Cool. Okay, the Zeer booth. And that's actually who brought us here. So, shout out to Ziker for bringing me and Jess over to Shanghai to check out the show and check out their booth specifically. Um, this is the Zeer 007 GT Spicy Wood. Uh, Zeer 009, which is a really cool van. Got Zeke Mix over there. Kyle's already done a whole video with that. Um, I think this is the Zeer 9 Grand over here and a lot of people are crowding around it. Oh, this is like the new SUV type thing with like mono block looking wheels. That's super sick. Over here is the grand van, like the grand gold I think, which is also super special edition fancy looking thing. Zeer is just such a huge company, exploding company in China. It's chaotic. Uh, and they've only been on the market for a few years, but like already one of the bestselling cars, the 001, the really cool wagon thing. Um, that's been Oh, here it is. There it is right there. Zero1. A little confusing cuz that was actually unveiled. I think it was a Lincoln Co. concept or a concept under Lincoln Co. and then it split off to Zeer. I don't know. That's why it looks like a Lincoln Co. Um, with a, you know, double twin headlight, daylight, daylight time running light things. Um, that's one of my favorite cars of all time. Like think electric shooting brake fun thing. I don't know what this is. Whoever this is, I'm interested based on this car. And I also have that thing. So that's super sick. What lally what is happening? Flying cars, off-brand range Land Rovers. Uh oh, there's another concept. Another concept thing over there. This is I do apologize. This has got to be one of the most confusing wild tours of all time. But because it's all interesting, unique stuff that we well don't have anything remotely close to in the US, hopefully it's at least somewhat interesting to you. Moving past whatever that company is on to some Huawei stuff. So Huawei also has a lot of cars uh even subbrands like this is a Lux Seed R7. Luxed is a sub company under Huawei. So is Voya and whatever this is. And then we have Avatar with the missing syllable. As you can see, Zeer and Avatar both leaving out the second or the last vowel. Actually, that seems to be much much of a trend here. Um, but then we have Audi Q6. So, I don't really know what's happening here. Maybe it's just Huawei stuff used in other cars, which is also a thing. Very interesting. So, I I lost my translator. Need to find Jess and hopefully make it out of here alive. Lincoln Co. has a really cool booth. A lot of really cool vehicles actually. And it's actually, I think, maybe the first Zeer or uh Glee vehicle I ever drove was a Lincoln Co. 01 in Europe about 3 years ago. But this is the Lincoln Co3. There's Lincoln Co. Me and that thing go way back. Great paint on that. Here's the TCR. Kyle's actually driven that around a track, I believe, or maybe it was the 03 Plus. Not really sure, but he's he's spent some time with with some Lincoln codes. Um, I'm really quite a fan of their design language. I think that's why I like the Zer1 so much because it's basically Lincoln Co design uh just under Zeke. Zeer, of course, has crazy battery technology. Lincoln Co. shares a lot of that. Just the Gily group in general, or is it Gil? I always forget. Um, they have so much impressive technology and that's why I think they're skyrocketing ahead of all the competition despite being so incredibly young. Here we go. Some sort of Cappy Bear thing. And oh god, so funny. Last but not least in this hall, we have Mazda, which also is such a different thing here than it is in the US. In the US, we had the MX30, which was, see, Kyle's video called it the worst EV of the year or something like that. Not so here. We have the Mazda EZ60. Absolutely gorgeous looking EV. And we have some other stuff over here. See if we can get through this crowd of people. That's really just the moral of this entire event. Crowds and crowds of people. Then we have the EZ6 over here with a retractable wing. How cool is that? Um, what is this? The same thing. Yeah, EZ6. So, EZ6, EZ60. That actually makes a lot of sense. Kind of follows their other uh like CX60 um Mazda 6 type stuff. So, looks to be interesting tech. Very gorgeous looking cars. Obviously, Mazda design language. Some sort of concepty thing over here, which might just be another easy model. Or maybe, no, this just says easy 62. So, maybe this was just the concept of the easy 60 before it really came out. In fact, huh, kind of looks like the clay model. That's pretty cool to see. Mazda's gorgeous design language. Oh my gosh, love it. So, I would have loved this tour to be longer, but they got us to the show 2 hours late and we had to leave early to go sit on a bus for 3 hours to go somewhere else. So, we had only a small amount of time to go to the Shanghai Auto Show, which is, as you could see, a huge, chaotic, crazy spectacle of amazingness. So, I hope you enjoyed this partial tour of at least the major automotive halls in the Shanghai Auto Show. Of course, there was a couple others with a few automakers, such as Mercedes, for example, that we couldn't get to, which is a bummer. But there's always next year. Hopefully, next year we can spend more than a few hours there. In fact, I could see spending days just wandering about the floors trying to understand and grasp everything your eyes see. All right, let's jump back to our final thoughts. All right. Well, we're ending right by this gorgeous orange Zer1, which again is probably like my favorite car in the show besides the MG Cyberster. That thing is super cool. But big shout out to Zer and Zeker Group for bringing us out here. Um couldn't have done it otherwise. I mean, I guess we could have, but it would have been a lot of chaos. So, they figured out a lot of the chaos for us. Yeah. And um yeah, crazy tour. My voice is gone. Um, and yeah, sorry it's so chaotic, but we just wanted to show you as much as possible given that we only had a few hours on the show floor and we also to film two other videos. Final thoughts. I thought that was cool. I think that I don't know. My conclusion is that there are way cooler cars here than there are in the US. But I definitely would want to test drive every single one of them before I made a purchase. Right. Um, it is common to see cars sold with like, oh, like really amazing software, but then like like people so focused on the features like karaoke and like cool big screen, but like does it drive well? Uh, that's something you can't really tell from these shows. You can tell a lot of things and a lot of things I care about such as like sound system, which a lot of these cars have great sound systems, Dolby Atmos, etc. and amazing software. All powered by Snapdragon chips and in theory good ADAS, but we haven't we couldn't try any driver assistance. Yeah, we couldn't drive any. So, that's changing tomorrow when we drive Zakers. Um, but as far as this show, uh, just genuinely fascinating. So many companies I never heard of and I still don't know what they are, but a fun quick first glimpse at a lot of the stuff in China. Um, hopefully you guys enjoyed this video. It was kind of like Kyle's walking around the mall tour that he did a few months ago.
