AR Verb Conjugation (Review)

• Verb: Hablar (to speak)
  • Yo hablé
  • Tú hablaste
  • Él/Ella/Usted habló
  • Nosotros hablamos
  • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes hablaron
• Endings for AR verbs in Preterite: é, aste, ó, amos, aron

ER Verb Conjugation

• Verb: Comer (to eat)
  • Yo comí
  • Tú comiste
  • Él/Ella/Usted comió
  • Nosotros comimos
  • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes comieron
• Similar to AR verbs but with more 'i's in the endings.

Example: Beber (to drink)

• Present Tense:

Stem-Changing Verbs

• Entender (to understand)
  • Present stem change: e to ie
  • No stem change in Preterite
  • Yo entendí, Tú entendiste, Él/Ella/Usted entendió, Nosotros entendimos, Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes entendieron

Special Cases: Verbs with Double 'e'

• Leer (to read)

  • Yo leí
  • Tú leíste
  • Él/Ella/Usted leyó
  • Nosotros leímos
  • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes leyeron
  • Note: 'i' becomes 'y' between two vowels; accent marks are used to maintain syllable separation.

• Creer (to believe)
