Canon EOS 5D Mark II My Menu Guide

are you listening hi guys welcome to video number 12 for the Canon EOS 5d Mark C and in this video we're gonna have a look at the my menu this is the last menu on the camera and it's where you can register your own list of menu options from other areas within the menu system on the camera and this is for easier access here I have beef on or off so I can quickly turn the AF beep off if I need to be quiet which is quite funny given how wild the 5d 2 is um maybe if you're shooting why didn't you recording into a church going it's a quiet office and you need to turn the beep off it can be done quite quickly instead of having to go through the menus and find it we come as well from my options here change to shoots s raw raw or just JPEG okay large medium small or any combination of those that you wish okay there should you just wish to shoot JPEG say a family event you don't want to have to process the raw files you can kick you to JPEG and just capture those okay an external speed light control this is a quick option through to the external speed light control functions that we have a look at more of the earlier videos and the flash function settings which won't show because there's no flash mounted on there and the flash custom function settings as well again not showing because there's no flush mounted on the camera okay AF Point area expansion to be disabled or enabled so I can turn it on and off quickly without having to go into the cosine function menus it's not something I use that often although if when I have shots people running around or animals dogs for example and I have turned it on in the past a still a real struggle with the AF on this camera but it can be done and highlights a word which is where you would get blinking highlights showing when you're previewing an image the small preview it will show the brightest part of the image ethics overexposed it'll be flashing white and that's remember that preview is a JPEG so if it's only a little little bit blinking on a white shirts in the clouds then chances are in the raw file it will be fine if there's a big big patch of it not blinking overexposed then you've got a problem so I can either enable or disable that now we can go into the my menu settings here and we can choose to register different functions for quick access depending on what we would we would prefer so we can register review time and that's knowing the list okay and we can just keep adding you know you have so many items we can sort the items so we can move them up and down in the order depending on how important we feel each one is we can delete individual items delete all items or display from my menu and enabled there so it automatically always goes to the main menu when you bring the menus up because it's gonna give you quick access to the stuff you use most often which makes sense so we'll have that enabled ok fairly short video this one this is just a quick look at the my menu settings you would of course set your zorb differently than i do and what that concludes really the tutorial series for the canon 5d mark ii okay because we've looked through all of the menus and going through the different shooting menus playback menus and settings and the custom functions of course and my menu as well and feel free to share these videos like I say and do like and subscribe of course if you've got any questions stick them in the comments below and the best way really is to get used to a camera is okay read the manual what some tutorial videos well just go out and shoot with it get to know it get to know how it feels the bottom line outs where things are and so it becomes more natural during use and what I will probably do on this channel coming up and I'm gonna have a look at some things on the current system namely how to set a custom white balance which is pretty similar across the majority of the Canon cameras there'll be some slight differences the menu maybe it's in a different menu on the 1dx compared to the 5d - i have no idea no real way of finding out but i'll show you how to set a custom white balance so you can probably get from that video how to go about it on your or the canon cameras and we'll have a look briefly at the canon speed light system as well because it's brand specific if you're looking for other non brand or canon specific tutorials and in particular on portrait work lighting lighting gear modifiers then subscribe to my other channel and i'll stick a link or an annotation somewhere and for you to subscribe to and i'll be adding more content on that channel now I'm done with this tutorial sets and I've also got a workshop which I will be announcing in 2015 the announcement will be on the other channel we'll keep an eye out on the blog and the website for that it was called let's get this lit which is manual camera manual flash okay off camera of course and just to lay a workshop out to help you guys or help the people who struggle with flash and to make it as simple as possible and there's a whole PDF I've been working on with a presentation for that although a lot of its going to be practical shooting for a full day but more details in the near future and if I don't see you guys before have a great Christmas in new year and I will see you guys in 2015 you
