for this particular video so our topic for today is how to write the rational of the study how to properly write the rationale of the study so we are going to discuss some of the requirements that you need to be reminded of when you write this particular part of your study so again these are reminders that you need to consider incorporate in your writing of the rational of the study is this important yes the mere fact that this is included in your research tells you or tells every research writer that this is a very significant part of your research to the part that you would not be allowed to continue or to pursue your proposed research title if you cannot give enough evidence that there is a need to conduct this study so we are going to discuss all of that in our video for today the first one let's start with the proper pronunciation of the word that we are discussing for today so according to our online dictionary or reference this is pronounced as Russia null rational rational okay because during uh defense um there are students who pronounce this as rationale okay so in in our case um if it is accepted in their particular area or Community then that is fine but again for the purpose of uh presenting the proper pronunciation of this particular word it is pronounced as rational rational okay silent E so that's the first one the second one the rational of the study is the last or located at the last paragraph of the background of the study the background of the study is the first part of chapter one chapter 1 is entitled the problem and its background the title of chapter one is the problem and its background so the first part that you're going to see in chapter one is the background of the study which discusses the problem or the issue that you are investigating so the background of the study contains a discussion of the problem or the issue that is being investigated okay now this is supposed to be a paragraph but there are instances where in uh the the rationale of the study is written in more than one paragraph So as much as possible try to compress and summarize and outline your rational of the study in one paragraph you can already do that because in the background of the study you are already going to present evidences that would support your rational of the study remember rational of the study should present the reason why you conducted the study what were the reasons you conducted and you chose the study what motivated you what are these evidences so you also have to present these evidences and we are going to again go through that with our discussion for today so that's number one and number two number three this part of the study the rational of the study presents the argument and also presents the evidence or evidences that there is an urgent and pressing need to conduct the study these arguments and evidences should lead to your argument that this there is a need and uh there is a pressing need an urgent need to conduct this study so present evidences for this so you cannot just uh tell uh and write in your in your narrative in your manuscript that there is a need according to your perception according to your observation so again this should be evidence and document based again I am going to reiterate the reason why you conducted the study cannot be based on your perception nor your observation please okay according to my observation I uh experienced this and therefore I concluded that there is a pressing and urgent need to conduct a study based on this particular issue no it cannot be it should be based on document documentary evidence and again we are going to discuss what are these specific evidences that you can use as uh to support as an Evidence to your uh argument of the study for the rational of the study okay next aha so we are at number three evidences supporting your argument as mentioned earlier should be presented and discussed comprehensively in the preceding part in the latter part of the rationale of the study which is the background of the study so in the background of the study this is the part where you will be presenting your evidences your documents that there is really a need to conduct the study so uh I think that is already clear so you present this not in the actual rational of the study because that will only be composed of one paragraph but uh the the part of your research which is the background of the study proceeding the rational of the study so you discuss the evidences in the background of the study because there is no no uh room for you to place your discussion in the rational of the study since this will only serve as the outline of the rational of the study okay the next one will be number five so specific discrete sources should be cited like what are these documents school documents minutes of the meeting of these uh documents or or of these I know uh activities or specifically meetings evaluation and assessment results supporting your claim that there is an issue or problem that merits the conduction of your study so these are the documents that I was meant I mentioned earlier that you would use in your discussion of the rational of the study which is supposed to to be located at the background of the study and then when you go to the part of the rational of the study you are already going to summarize outline these reasons and then present the motivation of your study and then this will be considered as the rational of your research or the study that you are conducting so basically these are the considerations that you need to include and incorporate in the writing of the rational of the study again in in the writing of the background of the study I have a separate video for that make sure that you organize your discussion so you the the method or paragraph method or discussion method that we use for for quantitative research is supposed to be deductive method so deductive method starts from the general going to specific so again organize your discussions or sequence of discussions in deductive method and then eventually leading to the last part of this uh part of the research which is the rational of the study okay so I hope this was able to Enlighten you on the elements and inclusions and considerations that you need to put in place when you write the rational of the
