Key Points on Stomach Meridian Points and Location

Overview

  • Focus on locating stomach points 12 through 35 based on anatomical landmarks.
  • Points are measured in "soon" which is a traditional Chinese measurement.

Stomach 12 and 13

  • Location: Both are located four soon lateral to the midline, near the clavicle.
    • Stomach 12: Above the clavicle in the supraclavicular fossa.
    • Stomach 13: Below the clavicle, in the zeroeth intercostal space.

Counting Rib Spaces

  • Begin at the sternomanebrial angle (where the manubrium meets the sternum).
    • Place fingers on either side of this joint to locate ribs and intercostal spaces.
    • Second rib is an important reference point.

Points in Rib Spaces

  • Stomach 14: First intercostal space, four soon out.
  • Stomach 15: Second intercostal space, four soon out.
  • Stomach 16: Third intercostal space, four soon out.

Points Near Nipple

  • Stomach 17: Fourth intercostal space (nipple), used as a landmark; not needled.
  • Stomach 18: Fifth intercostal space, also known as "root of breast".

Transition to Abdomen

  • Stomach 19: First point on the abdomen, 2 soon lateral to midline.
  • Points on abdomen are 1 soon apart, located by moving from four soon to two soon lateral to the midline.

Key Abdomen Points

  • Stomach 25: Level with the umbilicus, two soon lateral to midline.
  • Stomach 19 to 25: Located using measurements from umbilicus to sternocostal angle (8 soon).

Lower Abdomen

  • Stomach 25 to 30: Measurements start from upper border of pubic symphysis to umbilicus (5 soon).
  • Stomach 31: Located on the upper leg near the sartorius muscle.

Leg Points

  • Stomach Line: Line from lateral superior border of the patella to ASIS.
  • Stomach 32 to 35:
    • Stomach 32: 6 soon up from lateral superior border.
    • Stomach 33: 3 soon up.
    • Stomach 34: 2 soon up.
    • Stomach 35: Directly below the inferior border of the patella.

Tips

  • Use fingers to locate spaces moving from ribs near the midline outward.
  • Bone landmarks like clavicle, ribs, pubic symphysis aid in palpating points.
  • Ensure accurate "soon" measurements by referencing body's anatomical proportions.
