Understanding Spanish AR Verb Conjugation

Hola, Señor Jordan here as usual. Now before watching this video you might want to review the video on personal pronouns because this series will be talking about the present tense of AR verbs. Okay, in this video specifically we're going to be going over the yo form. So yo in Spanish means I I, or sometimes me, before we go any further, I'll give you a few verbs that we'll be using in this video. Ayudar, bailar, cantar, cocinar, dibujar, enseñar. Escuchar, estudiar, hablar, nadar, necesitar, patinar, practicar, terminar, tocar, trabajar. Yeah, a few, right? Okay, for our purposes in Spanish, an infinitive is a verb that has not been changed. If the verb ends in AR like any of these, we can tell it's an infinitive just because of that AR ending. So for now, think of an infinitive. it as an AR form, translated as to sing, to work, to dance, etc. Now in the YO form of the verb, we will first take off the AR and add an O. If I took cantar, to sing, and I wanted to say I sing, I would take off the AR and add an O. So I sing would be yo canto. How about I swim? We have the verb to swim, nadar, take off your AR and add an O. Yo nado. I swim. Now you try some. Trabajar. Okay, that would become, yo trabajo. Bailar. Yo bailo. Necesitar. Yo necesito. Cocinar. Yo cocino. Dibujar. Yo dibujo. Tocar la guitarra. Yo toco la guitarra. Escuchar música. Yo escucho música. Estudiar español. Yo estudio español. Hablar por teléfono. Yo hablo por teléfono. Now again, if we wanted to make any of these sentences negative, we would just put the no after the yo, maybe for a verb. So for that last one, if I wanted to say, I talk on the telephone again was, Yo hablo por teléfono. To say, I don't. don't talk on the telephone, yo no hablo por teléfono. Okay, hopefully this was helpful. The next videos will be going over the to form, the ellos, ustedes form, and nosotros form, and ellos, ustedes form. And for now, this is pretty basic, but hopefully it was helpful. Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Gracias. Adiós.
