Humanities Book List for ENEM

After the success of the nature list and many people who have already read a large part of that list thanking me, I decided to make a list for the humanities as well. So I separated eight books for you: two general history books, two philosophy books, two Brazilian history books, and two sociology books, plus geopolitics. This list is very important for three reasons. First, you have to read a lot of things before the Enem to improve your interpretation. You won't do well on the first day of the Enem if you don't interpret well. So, it's good to have a daily reading schedule, I don't know, 30 minutes after lunch. Also, one thing I always say in my advanced tips is that in order for you to learn more and retain more information, it's good to try to see the same subjects from different angles, from different perspectives. This makes you learn better, learn from a more holistic view with interdisciplinarity, and it also makes you more prepared for the test because it's common for them to take the same subjects and put them in a different context. If you've already read about this subject in different contexts, you won't be caught unprepared. And the last reason is what I said in the video. previous from the productivity channel that if you know how to answer two questions in great detail you will already be super prepared for the Enem the first question has to do with nature and how you go from atoms to the first lives and homo sapiens and the second question that we will try to answer with today's books is how do you go from the first groups of homo sapiens in the first organization of human beings to arrive at contemporary societies with all the current problems So today's list will basically do that you will try to see the history of humanity from several different angles of the eight books seven I read before my preparation for the Enem and they helped me a lot in the test and the eighth book I read after but by chance it is the one that I think is the best of them for this it is important that you are aware that there are two aspects of the humanities test that I will not be covering in this video One of them is physical geography which is much less likely to be covered in the Enem than human geography and it is better that you study by summaries from academic books and the second aspect is related to social issues which also appears a lot in languages So I will leave it to talk more about this in the recommendation video languages if you want me to make this video also recommending the languages book leave a comment there and I'll try to do it but I'm going to talk about racism prejudice violence against women but when I recommend languages books because it's a subject that also comes up a lot in the languages test So I think these are the points of attention we can now go to the list of books I 'll also put the links in the description for you to look for each one of them I'll talk about what I think are the positive and negative points of each one of them I put them in an order that I think makes a little more sense for you to grow during your process being the easiest books a little more at the beginning and the most difficult ones at the end so the first book is this one here it's A Brief History of the World it's a book that is easy to read and it's really cool I think it's a great book to be like a kind of introduction because after you read it you kind of already have a complete skeleton in your head about the history of the world so all the other books become easier to read and you fit the things you learn into this skeleton So I think it's a book that's worth it for those who have difficulty in humanities for those who know little about humanities and it is a fun book and you will practice reading when you see it and then perhaps the only negative side is that it is a very simple book and So you will not go into depth in any aspect it is to give you a general overview and the reading is easy it is not that challenging the ideal is that you start reading things that are increasingly challenging to get good at interpreting but to start this book is great my second recommendation is this book here learn to live Philosophy for the new times this book you have to be careful because it has two volumes and the first is the most important it is this one here the first will talk about philosophy the second about mythology the second is also good but it does not help you much in ENEM it helps maybe you have more examples for the essay but for philosophy this is the book it is by an author who has been included in several entrance exams it has even been included in ENEM and this is my favorite book of all of them because it gives you a general overview of philosophy and how philosophy was how it emerged and how it changed over time So you will have a part of the book that is sub Philosophy in Greece how it emerged later you will have a part in the time of the scientific revolution there will be Descartes then Cant And then you will have Niet who will destroy several previous ideas So this is a great book for those who know nothing about philosophy or who cannot organize philosophy in a timeline I love this book it is easy to read and it teaches you many different things it will not go into much detail for any philosopher But to give you an overview it is perfect and we go to the third recommendation and this is a book a little more beaten several sources will recommend this book to you it is the book Sapiens it will also tell you the history of humanity But it will put a little more of a sociological perspective Not much but a little more so you can have an idea one of the main theses of the book is whether we Improved humanity has improved or not from the beginning until today and then he argues that maybe it does not depend much on the parameter you are going to analyze life expectancy has improved but you have to see if the quality of life has improved So this is an important book cool easy to read also it does not go into anything in depth that would be a flaw of it but it is a great book for you It also creates a taste for humanities and you will learn a lot of things that may be on the test. And we go to my fourth recommendation, which is the most controversial book on the list. I will explain why it is a book that will start to build a bridge between world history and Brazilian history. This is the book here, so it is a book, The Open Veins of Latin America. It is a very cool book to read, but it has several drawbacks. So let's go. It is an important book. It has even been used at Harvard, so it is a reasonably famous book, but it has some controversies. One of them is that the author has said at some point that he did not want to have written it because it has a very strong bias towards the oppressed. So it is a book that when you finish reading it and even during the reading, you feel a little revolted and with a sense of injustice in relation to the exploitation during the history of the richest countries in relation to Latin America. But on the other hand, it is a book that has a very victimized view of reality, that whoever is in Latin America is a poor wretch and has no protagonism at all. So it is a controversial book, but it is a book important because it has already been mentioned in several places It has already been used by several colleges and it is a good book. It is a book that you enjoy reading. You just need to read it with a look that is not too emotional because it is a book that tends to make you more angry, but not everything is as it is in the book. In my opinion, it is a bit biased, but that is it. I think it is worth it. Let's go to my fifth recommendation and here we are going to the history of Brazil itself, which is this one, which is a concise history of Brazil by Boris Fausto. Boris Fausto is a famous historian. He has been a reference for Fuvest exams, for example. There is a documentary of his that you can find on YouTube that I always mention that in 3 hours you see the entire history of Brazil. This book is more or less what is in the documentary with a little more detail, so it is a good book for you to learn the history of Brazil quickly. It is a small book. The biggest book on this list is Sapiens. They are all small and most of them are very cool to read. This one among them is the one that I find least cool to read. It is also an easy read, but the previous ones had a greater concern. The author had a greater concern in making the book more fun when you read it is a little easier to read this one is a little more difficult but it is a small book with a lot of content and so we go to the sixth recommendation it is a philosophy book I told you that the second rec dação is my favorite book and it gives you a general basis on philosophy it explains to you what philosophy is and how it came about this sixth book goes deeper into philosophy it only has one drawback that it is much more expensive than the others but the book is this one here which is great philosophy books This is the book that is the most accurate in terms of not even that I found I read it before the test and by chance there were four or five questions from the year that I did that had answers in this book So this book will take several of the main works of humanity written by philosopher thinkers and will analyze them and tell you what is the main point of these works It analyzes a total of 27 works and of these works several of them have already been on the ENEM as I said in my year there were four or five I don't remember exactly how many so it is a book that helps a lot on the test it is the most accurate in terms of things that are on the ENEM but unfortunately it is expensive It's already a book that's a little harder to read because it's talking about philosophical theories. So it's not as simple as the first four on this list. And here we go to my seventh and eighth recommendation that I'm going to give together. Because both are kind of similar, and both deal with the latest transformations of humanity after the Cold War. So it's going to talk a lot about the globalization of technology. The books are these two: Race to the 30th Century and World Culture. So both deal with this same period of the most recent transformations of humanity. Both are about geopolitics and sociology. I think World Culture goes a little more towards sociology. Race to the 21st Century goes a little more towards geopolitics. But they deal with the same period and are similar. Both are difficult to read, despite being short, so it's a more challenging read, which is good for you to improve your interpretation. But I would leave them for last in the reading because they're a little more difficult. I would also only choose one of the two. I think reading both doesn't make much sense. From this entire list that I gave you, I tried to give you complementary books, with the exception of these last two, which deal with the same thing. Part of the story I think it would only be worth reading both if you are very interested and the first book and the third which is A Brief History of the World and Sapiens are also similar but apart from that they are all complementary they all help a lot in the ENEM they will all train your reading being that my favorite was the second book which is the philosophy book an overview and the one that is more necessary for the ENEM is the other one on philosophy Sofia which will take 27 very important works of humanity and analyze them but all the others will give you a comprehensive view of the history of humanity from different angles and most of them are very cool to read there are some books that I did not put on this list either because I will put them in languages or because they are not as comprehensive So some special mentions So if you want to look for more liquid modernity it is a very important book but it is similar to world culture there is also the society of the spectacle which is a very important book but it is not as comprehensive as these others so there would be other reading options but I wanted to make this list leaner and more fun for you to actually read and during the process and improve your interpretation So I think that is it for today I will leave it here At the end, the video recommending nature books is to answer the first question from the previous video that I told you about and that 's it for today, thank you.
