Kevin Durant is arguably the most pure scorer in the history of the NBA and he continues to make his case this year averaging 31.4 points per game on 53% shooting all while in his 15th year in the league now today I want to talk to you guys about the things that he's doing on the court and the moves that he's using in games to become such an efficient scorer so that by the end of this video you'll know exactly what moves you need so that you too can become a great scorer now the first and most important thing to notice with is that he's incredible in catch and shoot situations whether that's off cutting pin Downs spotting up you name it if he has the space to get off a shot once he catches it he's going to take advantage of that so if you want to be anything like Kevin Durant the first thing you need to be practicing is Catch and shoot shots you need to be able to make an open shot that's step one of being a good basketball player can you make an open shot and once you prove that you can now you have to put the ball on the ground and make plays so let's look at some moves that KD uses to create shots for himself and the first move we're going to look at is his pull-up jumper now one thing you'll notice watching this video is that all the clips are of him going to his left and this is because as a right-handed player nine times out of 10 the defense is going to force you to the left and also most right-handed players once they start going left they don't want to finish at the rim with their left hand so I'm just going to show you a bunch of different moves that KD uses to still get a shot off while being forced to his left now getting back to the details of his pullup one thing that's important to know is when to do a pull-up jumper and the perfect time to do it is when you get the defense to open their hips and try to slide with you or feel like they need to Sprint to cut you off it's really hard to try to slide or Sprint to cut somebody off and contest a shot at the same time so this is a great move to have now another shot that he's really good at is this oneel leg Runner which is very similar to the pull-up just even more unpredictable and what you'll notice is that he likes to do it a lot of times when he gets that contact and then he goes up into a shot instantly so it's a great way to draw a foul also another thing he likes to do is when he's in a situation where he's catching the ball on the Move he'll go to the shot as well this is another shot though that it's a really tough shot to guard that's something that you have to practice a ton because you have to work on your balance but if you're able to get this down this is a great move to have in your bag now the next move we're going to look at is the side step which is something you can use when the defense isn't really trying to recover and cut you off and they're just staying on your hip with you you can use the side step and nudge the defender a little bit just to create just enough space to get a clean shot off one thing you'll notice with KD when he does this is that he's always trying to get downhill first and then once he gets to that spot that he wants to get to if the defense is still with him that's when he side steps to create space for a shot so we've looked at some moves for when the defender's on your hip now I'm going to show you some moves for when the defense actually is able to cut you off and the first is going to be the punch dribble so this is a move anytime when the defense Cuts you off and there's contact you're going to stop on that front foot so if you're driving left you're going to stop hard on that front left foot and then from there you basically get to reset once the defense freezes you can rise up into a shot or you can start another move and attack again A lot of times that punch dribble will give you the space you need to rise right up into a jumper now two other moves that you can use when you get cut off are that snatch cross which is where you just get really low and either rise up into a shot or you get low and cross and then attack again the second move is a spin move so you cut off you spin create space for a shot normally is a little fade and KD likes to do this on the Baseline now the last move we're going to talk about is the move that he's pretty much most known for and that's that hesy pull-up and this is something he's going to use anytime the defense is backing up and on their heels he's just going to hesy get you to freeze a little bit and then rise up into a shot and shoot right over you a lot of people are used to seeing him do this from the three-point line but this is also a move that can be done anywhere on the court so if you're a taller player it's a great move to have because once you get the defense to freeze and sit down anticipating a move you can just rise up and shoot right over them it's almost like having a free shot and then from there you can add counters to it where one being you can hesi and go where you would just hesy fake the shot and then get all the way to the basket or another thing you can do is hesy and then cross over get to your spots and pull up for a shot now if you enjoyed this video make sure you like comment and subscribe and also check out my training app which is linked in the description below as always thanks for checking out
