in today's video I want to go through a couple of different text animations that are all super simple but super sexy and they're just a great way to spice up your projects but before we get into the tutorial itself I just want to say a quick thank you to today's video sponsor AAS who always bring the source to the channel but without further Ado let's hop straight into off the effects where I have three composition set up actually and we're going to be doing just about four different types of text animations all super simple but the first one here is just a 1920 x 1080 composition at 24 frames per second and then I obviously have a clip in there now if you do want the project files they'll be available on my patreon we can go get those but if not all the text animations all pretty simple so you can just go ahead and do them but if you don't want to project files are available the first one is inspired by uh a clip I was sent somebody asked me about a visualizer de team for music video and also how to do that text animation we're going to start with the simplest version and then we're going to spice it up and just add a little bit more flare to it the first one is pretty simple all we got to do is double hit L which will bring up our waveforms and then we're just going to listen to what we're saying then type it out and then that's pretty much the first step of how to do this so pretty simple all I want to do is add a text layer I'm just going to S my text to up here and then we can play back and just I usually just like writing until it kind of fills the screen new research shows that there is a 300% incre so new research shows that there is a 300% increase and then I'm just going to going to scale this down a little bit and I'm going to remove this old caps thing cuz I I don't think that looks good and let me just decrease the curing of this a little bit to make it look a little bit nicer and let's play back and make sure we get all the right words and this is very important that you want to get every single word otherwise it's not going to flow as well new research shows that there is a 300% increase in revenue for in re for people who people who are subscribed to the m channel are subscribed to the m Channel now that is our little bit of text you can make it as long or short as you want to so you can even cut it like let's say right here so just copy that delete and then you're just going to find where you say where that sentence kind of ends and you're just going to split that layer and then paste the other text so right here so I'm just going to shift command D to split the layer double click and paste it in there and that just helps with the spacing on the screen cuz sometimes if you have a very long sentence it's going to be too close to the edges of the screen which I just don't think looks very good and and I also don't like the look of double layer text so I try to keep it as simple as possible on one line and kind of find natural break points subscribe to Paul Channel this is within the first 30 minutes of subscrib so right here we have the next sentence come up so we have three sentences kind of in total this is within the first 30 minutes of subscribing to the channel this is within the first 30 minutes minutes of subscribing actually just subscribing not to the channel so we can just take that remove that up that is pretty much it for the text itself now instead of having to duplicate all these layers and positioning the text exactly where we want to we can use a couple of different plugins I'm going to use decompose text which is free there's also other plugins that do the same exact thing like text exposer all that stuff essentially you just want something that's well free because there's no reason to pay when there's a a free version available and something that will cut the layers up into their own layers now for this I'm going to take my decomposed text which I have located down here in the corner I'm going to go to characters and I'm just going to change it to words and then I want to make sure to keep the original position using Expressions this just makes it so that we don't have to go and individually move every single layer to exactly line up where they're supposed to be so I'm just going to hit decompose and then I can hit U to hide everything and it's going to keep the original layer but we can just delete that and then I just want to select all of these and let's change the color of them to make sure that we can stay nice and organized and then we're going to go to the second layer decompose again and it's the same process every time we want to do this and then we going to delete the bottom layer because we don't need the original text anymore change this to maybe a green and then last but not least our last piece of text here and then hit U to hide all of that and then delete this layer so now we have our three segments which we can now start cutting up so again we want to hit L twice to bring up our waveform and then we just want to cut the words to start exactly when we say it and that's why I like using the waveforms it makes it a lot easier because you can kind of you can kind of have a little bit of a visual reference for when you are saying word new so right here we'll have new so I'm just going to take this let's start it right there take all of these and let's play it next so research starts right about here going to move that up and command click to deselect and play again show so right about here we have shows and this is a little bit of a tedious process but the end result is so wor it looks so sexy I wouldn't recommend doing this for full videos like 20 minute video it's going to be way too long but for little segments like 10 20 seconds type of things and just to emphasize a quote or something like that this effect works really well so now we have our first sentence basically laid out shows that there is a 300% increase in revenue and that's pretty much it for how they did it in the example that we just looked at from the Kendrick Anderson pack visualizer and it's super simple super straightforward it's just about cutting them up I don't know how to explain it's just very satisfying to look at however we can do a second variation of this which you might have seen in some of my other videos I had a couple requests on how to do this and it's basically a super simple version that's just a little bit more Saucy than this where we add a little bit of position animation now I'm going to go ahead and line up all these other layers so we can take a good look at how that exactly works and how we can use both techniques to actually make something that flows even better than if you just were to use one or the other now I've cut up all my text so for this first one we can keep it exactly how it is but then for the second one we can select all our layers and in this case I'm going to use wood just because it's a little bit easier I can just click a button and then and I have a n that's created that is then linked to all the layers I selected you can also right click down on your composition go to new create n and automatically link all them or even go up to layer new and add a No Object as well so will be a link to it down in the description like with the other plugins that we're going to use for this we're actually going to start backwards because we want the text to stay Center every time a new word comes up so I'm going to hit option and apostrophe to then bring up this little grid that we have and that's just to make it a little bit easier to see if our text is Senter I'm going to go a couple frames forward for where our last layer comes in so right here in relation to this and then on my void layer I'm just going to hit p and you can see it splits it up into the X and the Y values this is just how void works you can always right click and then separate Dimension uncheck separate Dimensions if you don't want that we're just going to use the exposition then we're going to go back to around halfway in the next layer and then we're just going to scoop this layer over to be centered in the frame so again this is why we have the grid up and this is just kind of a visual Center it doesn't have to be exactly it just needs to look centered and then we're going to go forward again until the center of our next layer where at least you know the little part between the start and where the next one comes in and we'll just move that over and Center that up again and then the next one and now for this last well technically the first word that comes in I like to add another key frame that just helps initiate the movement a little bit so just take a key frame and move it out to the right a little bit and then move this key frame over to start a little bit before then I select them all go into flow and then use sexy speed if you want sexy speed or any of my other presets it's available on the patreon as well otherwise you can just add your own using but I like this one cuz it works really well for this type of Animation so now if you play back you have something where it kind of goes word by word and then you'll have something where you get a little bit of a sliding motion research shows that there is a 300% increase in revenue for people who are subscribe to the channel and you see this little bit of sliding motion just makes it look super super sick super smooth super sexy but as I said my favorite way of using this is actually to combine them both so now we have one and then it just cuts over to the next one and then when I do these ones I like to add a little bit of end animation just to set up the next sentence so if I select all my layers hit p and then just go to any point right here should be fine I'll key frame the position and then I'll move forward a little bit and then I'm going to drag all of these downwards select them all and then I'm going to select my super sexy outflow curve and then all I want to do here is select all my my key frames and then I'm going to use something like motion tools again free to stagger the key frames so I'm just going to make sure that the first one is first and then the last one exits L I'm going to use to step that over here and just one key frame and then I'm just going to take all of these and what I usually like to do is take the L one and then link it up with the L layer and then just go two frames forward and I found that in general it works pretty well and then I'm just going to extend the layers so that the layer ends exactly on the Lost Key frame just like that and now playing that back we now get nice little kind of ladder out and you can see how well it works with ending on the last layer and then the first text coming up and that's what I meant about creating a nice visual bit of flow something that looks a little bit more interesting than if you were to just do one or the other so just add a little bit of a mix of dynamicism in there which really helps sell the effect and I think it just spices it up creates some visual interest but that is pretty much it for the first type of Animation but that being said we can head on to animation number two this one is super great for Ty scenes or just if you need some text that has a lot of character and is a little bit more fun and playful and I actually first learned this technique from Jake motion there'll be a link to the original video down below you can create the similar effect with just Mr horse plugin but I want to show how you can do it yourself just because I think it is important to understand how thing works and you can always set it up as like an effect preset so you can always apply it again quicker the next time you do it doing it once so you know what you're doing and then you can cheat so we are going to start with some text let's just put subscribe in here because I think that's a very good idea and I'm just going to select all caps and then change the fill to maybe a nice greenish color would work pretty well and then let's change the font to something a little bit more Saucy like uh can canita can I don't know how to pronounce this but essentially it's a bit of a tall font has a good little vibe to it and just increase the curing just a little bit might even just set that to zero and maybe even desaturate the color a little bit to make it look look a little bit more modern but this is our base and from here we can start applying a whole bunch of effects to get the look that we want which is essentially a long drop shadow with a little bit of sauce the first effect that we're going to add to this is a fill effect you can also add a gradient wamp but it's essentially going to let us control the color of our drop shadow so I like just doing a solid color just because I think it looks pretty good and it just gives it a nice cartoony look without too many colors in there and I'm just going to set this to a little bit darker than what we originally had and then we're going to add a couple of more effects I like setting up the effect stack in the beginning and then just adjusting rather than doing a one by one because sometimes you can forget things then we are going to add a transform effect and I'm just going to hide all of these for now just so we can get a good sense of what we're doing I'm going to duplicate that a couple of more time so we have three in total then we are going to add the minia max effect and I'm going to place it between our first and second instance of the transform effect and last but not least we will set a cc composite at the very end which will just bring our original layer back to the Forefront so what we're going to do here is just start with the transform and the Mini Max effect the first transform and the Mini Max effect so the first one we're just going to rename to let's just Shadow rotation because this is what we're going to be used to set the angle or direction of where the shadow wants to go and the same with the second to last one which we'll name Shadow counter rotation and then the second instance of the transform is going to be our sh Shadow length now we can set the first rotation to something like let's just do 45 we're just going to take the Minimax and we'll leave it at maximum but we can increase the radius a good bit let's just set it to something like 50 and then we're going to change the channel to Alpha and color and then from horizontal and vertical to just vertical you might already be able to tell that we have a little bit of the Extrusion going on if you look at it you can see the letters kind of look a little bit 3D is which is exactly the type of look that we're going for and it looks a little bit chaotic right now but that's where all the transform effects come into play for the second transform effect which is the shadow length we're going to go down into our layer open up the effects and then go into the shadow length and we are going to add a little bit of a super simple expression to the position parameter so we're going to all click the position down here which will then open up our Expressions panel so we're going to start with a stop bracket which is just this little square stop bracket whatever you want to call it and then we are going to take this and we're just going to pick whip it to the first parameter of our position and then we are going to add a comma which will just separate it for the next value and then we are going to pick whip this to the minax radius so pick whip that so we get the information from that effect as well and then we are going to add a plus and then link the Lost parameter of our position animation and then we can end it with another end bracket that's pretty much it for the expression now we can add the well counter rotation and it's super simple to do this as well we are just going to open up the effect down in the counter rotation and in the sh Shadow rotation and then we just want to link them both so if I take the rotation and let me just link that to the rotation of our first layer here and then if I open this up I'm just going to double click that and then I'm just going to add a minus to the rotation and it'll just rotate it so that's pretty simple and now we can go in and rotate the direction that we want or the angle and then in the Mini Max effect we can control the length of our shadow so it's super simple to set up and now you can save all these effects as a preset and you only have to do it once so let's add our shadow right here and extrude it just a little bit more and one thing I actually like to add to this is a stroke and you can do this over in the properties panel super nice love this update by the way super slept on but since it is a text layer we can always customize I like adding a bit of a stroke and maybe setting it to something like one and then just making sure that our Extrusion color which is all the way up here is the same as our stroke color just like that and I just think it looks super nice just gives a little bit more up to it and you can play around with the sh you can even set it something like three which gives it just a little bit more of a feeling so it looks super cartoony to add a little bit of Animation to this we are going to open up our text layer we're going to go into the animate button right here and we're going to add a rotation and then click off and then add a position animator as well then we can go into the add go into selector and add a wiggly expression the same with the position just like that and then you just want to move the parameters around a little bit and the good thing thing about this is with the wiggly selector it auto animates it so all you have to do is if you think this is a little bit too fast you can go into your Wiggly selector just decreases something like one wiggle per second for both of them if you want or increase it whatever you kind of like also like setting the correlation to zero in both of them and just like that you have some animated text without doing anything it's all pretty much automated and again it's a text layer so you can customize it however much you want there's one last thing I like to add to this just to spice it up even more and really fit the style and that is adding a sparkle I'm going to do that by going into my shape tool click and hold and then go to the store tool and I'm just going to zoom in here and let's Place one right on this corner right here you can just hold shift and click and drag and you'll create a star and then I'm going to open up the poly star open up the Polish star path and just change it to a four point and then play around with the inner radius outer radius and the roundness to get something that looks sort of like this and then you just want to place it make sure your Anchor Point is in the center and then to animate this I usually just do a super simple scale animation so just hit s key frame the scale go back a little bit set it to zero go forward a little bit and set it to zero again and that's it you have a nice little animation now I do like adding some sexy speed just like that you have a super simple animation that just looks fun cartoony has a little bit of a vibe to it and most importantly is customizable you can also remove the stroke from it and add some something like a deep glow if you're into that type of look and just makes it look really sparkly you can duplicate this move it around and just make sure that you move the key frames around as well a little bit just to make sure that it looks nice and good now before we get into the final animation I want to talk a little bit about today's video sponsor AUST see in my opinion there's really only one thing that can take your animations from being super plain and boring to something that's super sexy and that's sound design they have a bunch of different plans that let you pick exactly what you want so if you only need music and sound effects you can do that but if you also need templates or stock footage or even some plugins they also have that it's truly an all-in-one platform for creators and not to mention that the licensing is super awesome it's all royaltyfree so you can use it without getting you or your client in trouble but the thing I really want to talk about is how I actually use art list in my day-to-day workflow so we have these title animations that I've made for this video but without the sound design they look super plain and boring and there's really no life to them so what I like to do in my process is going on to all list and this is super easy with the new AI engine search they've made it so easy to type in exactly what you need and give you really good results because essentially how it works is it looks at all the different sounds and clips and all that good stuff and it adds more keywords to it so it essentially makes it a little bit easier to find because there's more things you can search for now in this specific instance we have a lot of elements that I want to cover I need something that super shiny that will give that nice metal kind of feel of the light going around the Rings we have some super sexy text animations I do want a little bit of impact in there to really sell the movement and make it feel heavy and give it some nice atmosphere and the way I like to do is do it in a bunch of different layers I like having some general atmosphere that really sets the tone but then also as couple of few different small sound effects that add to those little movements that just give a little bit of extra flare to it a trick I like to use is if I find a really nice sound that I know I can use multiple places what I like to do is going in and playing with the pitch so it doesn't sound too monotonous and that pretty much sums up my sound designing process it's super simple with the new AI engine search and if you want to get started with finding either music sound effects or anything else that you need you can head to the link in the description where you can use my link and when you sign up for the annual subscription you'll get two free months of art list so make sure to go down in the description and use that link and start sound designing your stuff because I promise you it will take it to the next level but with that being said let's hop back into the tutorial where we are going to be finishing off the super sexy title animation you might have seen this style of Animation in some apple commercials because they have some of the cleanest text animations in the game super smooth the easing is always on point and they're always always accompanied by great sound design which again shout out arless but we're going to start here by creating a simple little background I'm just going to hit command y to create a solid and we're going to set this to a white well slight off white I'm going to make sure that I'm set to F3 F3 F3 which is my goto white color and then we're going to add a bit of text I'm going to select my text tool up here and let's just type like in there now I don't want to stylize it like this because it's not very Apple like at all uh but we are going to set it to be almost completely black and let's change the font to to something a little more Apple like I think helvetica or something like Satoshi bold usually works pretty well and I want to make sure that this is not capitalized at all actually I just want it to be lowercase and then I'm going to scale it down a little bit and decrease the cing so we get something that looks pretty pretty sweet I might even change the font actually I think a Satoshi might look a little bit nicer it's a little bit more friendly she might just capitalize that L for the sake of it but now we have our first W let's just go down to about two frames I'm going to hit shift command D to split the layer and we're going to change this to comment and go forward a little bit again let's say 5 Seconds split that and let's put subscribe one of the main techniques that they use is the match cup so of course we're going to be doing some of that as well so for this first one let's go to about 12 frames and hit s to bring up the scale and I want to make sure that my Anchor Point is Centered for this one so that we scale from The Anchor Point so I'm just going to Center that up using motion tools and I'm going to key frame the scale I'm going to go forward and increase the scale a good bit and then we're going to go forward and for the next one we're going to use a bit of a slide animation so I want our text to move out to the left and then this one coming in from the right moving into place so I'm going to key frame the position right here and I'm going to go over to my second layer and also hit P to key frame that position I'm going to go back a little bit move this over and then go over to this one and move that text over to the left so then now if you play this back kind of you can see it goes from right to left now I just need to line up these key frames with one another and then we can match the movement between them with easing so let's go into flow and just add a sexy speed might tighten this up just a little bit and then we just want to Center these up right here where the two layers cut so we get a nice little bit of movement and you can already see how smooth that is I mean that is to transition into our last word I want to do a little bit of a slide up so again we're just going to start on the position key frame that and then I'm going to move forward open up to position position for this last layer key frame the position and then I'm just going to move it down so that it slides up and into place and then the second one we are going to slide up so again line these key frames up apply sexy speed to all of this and make sure that these are lined up right in the middle of our layer split and now we have a super nice little movement upwards and you can see how that momentum really helps sell the transition it almost feels Flawless now for this last one I do want to add a scale down animation to end the off so right about here I think it's been on the screen for enough time I'm going to hit s and again I want to make sure that my Anchor Point is in the middle now for this instance since we've already key framed it and I should have done it before I'm going to use the Anchor Point mover which is also free and I'm just going to change it to modify existing key frames and then I'm going to make sure that my Anchor Point is in the middle so now we should still have the animation nice and smooth cuz usually if you would change the Anchor Point now it would then move the position of it so that's why I like using that one over the motion tools one sometimes but now I can decrease the scale I'm just going to key frame that move forward a little bit and just scale it down and then I'll add my super sexy out animation to this and close that and end my layer right here as well and you can see that because we ended it with a scale down and the beginning also scales down it helps sell that just a little bit more now it is a little bit slow so maybe we can move this up a little bit because we don't need it to last for that long now we've just sped it up a little bit so we don't stay on the same for too long and there's one last thing that I think would work really well for this and that is just adding a black background right here so I'll just split my layer up right here or my my solid background and then for this layer which we're going to turn black I'm just going to hit shift command y to open up the solid settings and just change it to this black color and then I will of course change the color of the text as well so we can actually see it and just do F3 F3 F3 and that's just going to give us a little bit more of a contrasty feel just brings a little more energy to it which I think looks super sick one way I personally like to spice this up a good bit is by adding Echo to this now the echo effect is necessarily very Apple likee but I do love the look of it I'm just going to change it to1 one in the time and then increase the number to something like 30 and change it to composite in front or composite in back and we just copy this Echo effect and paste it onto our other layers and now if we play this back we just get a little bit more of a drag which I just thinks look a little bit more stylish a little bit more swaggishhooligan47 like and just adds a little bit more personality which again just comes down to personal style preference and taste but the main thing is just to focus on the easing and the match Cuts in between the words I think I might throw in a little bonus animation here and it's also kind of apple like I've seen it on one of their commercials but I'm just going to create a new composition 1920 x 1080 24 frames per second and we're going to add a text layer and this one is just going to be a sentence so hello my name is mul and I like coffee something like that and let's just change the text to a black color so we can see see it on this background I'm going to scale this down a little bit and Center it up this one is something you can also turn into an animation preset it's super simple it's just a position that we're going to add down here in our text animators and we're also going to add an an opacity one and then for the position we're going to open up go to advance and change it to words so we animate it per word and we're going to do the same for the opacity as well so change it from characters to words now we're going to move the position down a little bit so it starts below and then we can use the start at end to animate it in so at zero we're just going to keep frame this at the very beginning the start at zero go forward to let's say 1 second and set it to 100 so now we have the text coming in one by one and what is this I didn't want that in there and then we are going to pretty much do the same thing with opacity set it to zero key frame the start go to the same key frame and set it to 100 so now as each word comes in it fades in so it just makes it a little bit smoother I like dragging it out a good bit so it feels a little bit slower and maybe even taking the opacity and moving it a couple key frames forward but I think it looks super super smooth and it's a nice way of just adding a very subtle text animation and something you can use over and over again and you can of course spice it up with different types of easings and all that stuff which is completely up to you most of the time I actually keep it linear just because I think it works pretty well but something like that looks super sexy as well and it's just a nice easy cup out if you just need some simple text but that is pretty much it for this tutorial a couple of different text animations you can easily use in your projects to spice it up and just a good few fundamental animation principles that you can use to your advantage whether that be for text or anything else really again I just want to say thank you to allas for sponsoring this video make sure to head down in the description if you're looking for some new music sound effects or any other type of asset they'll provide the sauce again if you are interested in Project files it'll be available on my patreon as well for you to download as well as the speed CBS and all that good stuff but with that being said I just want to say thank you hopefully you learn something new hopefully you feel inspired to go out and play around with some text animations and uh yeah I'll see you again in the next one peace out
