Myron Golden Lecture Notes

Introduction

  • Recommended to watch the entire video series in sequential order for maximum benefit.
  • Lecture focuses on the concept of the three-part man as described in the Bible.

Key Biblical Passages

  • Genesis 2:7
    • God formed man from the dust of the ground: Body
    • Breathed into his nostrils the breath (Spirit) of life
    • Man became a living Soul
  • Psalm 146:4
    • Breath (Spirit) leaves, body returns to Earth
    • Thoughts (Soul) perish
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:23
    • Paul prays for the sanctification of spirit, soul, and body

Key Concepts

  • Spirit, Soul, and Body
    • Spirit: Breath of God
    • Soul: Mind, thoughts
    • Body: Physical form
    • Without the spirit, the body is dead. The union of spirit and body creates the soul (mind).

Creation vs Formation

  • Creation: Refers to the essence, the part of you that God created.
  • Formation: Refers to the physical form.
  • Example: Jeremiah 1
    • God knew Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb.
    • Jeremiah had a mission from God that relates to his essence, not his formed self.

Centers of Consciousness

  • Body: World-conscious
    • Five senses connect you to the physical world.
  • Soul: Self-conscious
    • Mind has two parts: conscious and subconscious.
    • Conscious Mind: Thinks conscious thoughts, interacts with others.
    • Subconscious Mind: Thought storage system.
      • Stores all experiences, teachings, and environments.
      • Memory is the recall of stored thoughts, not the storage itself.
      • People don't have bad memories; they have poor recall methods.

Illustrations and Examples

  • Example of phone number recall:
    • Requires accessing the subconscious storage system to retrieve information.
    • Emphasizes the power of the subconscious mind and its role in storing all past experiences and information.
