The Legend of Surabaya A long time ago, on East Java, there were two strong animals, Sura and Baya. Sura was a shark and Baya was a crocodile. Actually, they were friends, but when they were hungry, they were very greedy and did not want to serve their food.

They fought for it and never stopped. One day, Sura and Vaya were looking for some food, but they did not want to serve and they fought again. After several hours, Sura and Baya had planned to stop their fault. Sura lived and looked for food in sea, and Baya lived and looked for food on land.

But one day, Sura went to the land and looked for food in the river. Bayer was angry when he knew that Sura was broke this promise. Then Sura and Bayer fought again.

And finally Sura was gave up and he went back to the sea. People then always talk about the fight between Sura and Bayer. They named the place of the fight. as Zura Bayah. It's from Zura the shark and Bayah the crocodile.

People also put the fort as the symbol of Zura Bayah city.
