welcome to the 2025 McBeth prediction now first of all what is the point of a prediction video it's not a guarantee that this question is going to come up is it so partly it's a bit of fun but mostly it's like an insurance policy imagine there's 25% chance that this actually comes up and you watch my prediction videos on four different texts well one of them will definitely come up but the insurance is even better because I'm going to show you how the essay plan that I will give you will fit every single essay let me explain in 2024 I predicted the supernatural it didn't come up for AQA lady McBeth did but towards the end of my prediction video which I'll link at the end of this one I showed you exactly how to use everything I told you on the supernatural to fit the lady MC Beth question viewers who stuck to the end got a 100% of what they needed and I'm going to do the same here now you might think the logical thing will be to say well if the supernatural didn't come up in 2024 it's bound to come up in 2025 which is the other reason and I've linked it at the end of this video but actually my prediction is that it will be about guilt and stick around to find out why I'm predicting guilt but first let's get into the essay plan the quickest way to get top grades is to start with the thesis statement where you lay out Shakespeare's ideas so at number one the play is a cautionary tale and Shakespeare uses MC Beth's guilt to show that usurping committing regicide is going to lead to the destruction of your mental health and well-being it's not worth killing King James look what happens to McBeth his second and lesser political message is about lady McBeth she is consumed and destroyed by guilt and so we have a comment on the p patriarchal society is Shakespeare showing that women need to learn their place and not demonstrate ambition but be subservient to men supporting the patriarchal society or is he asking us to sympathize with Lady McBeth who is driven to evil means to get power because patriarchal society doesn't give her power either way the guilt destroys her it's it's a cautionary tale either against women or against the dangers of the patriarchal society you decide as soon as you use the words patriarchal society The Examiner is thinking wo maybe grade eight or nine and then finally the witches exist here as a demonstration of what it's like to experience no guilt if you aren't controlled by guilt you are holy evil evil is what McBeth becomes and therefore he is punished and destroyed so you're not going to make a thesis statement as long as that but explaining those three arguments in your essay and summarizing them at the beginning in your thesis statement wallup puts you in the top grade straight away so these are the 16 quotes I'm going to give you because I'm just too generous the average grade N9 essay has 13 quotes so we're going to start with why do I yield to that suggestion whose horrid image doth unfix my hair yes Mr sales's hair is totally unfixed but with MC Beth it's standing on end this is guilt and the guilt starts early because this is the cautionary tail before he's committed any crime just the thought of regicide is horrifying him and that is the power of guilt guilt is your early warning system says Shakespeare listen to it because that prevents you committing sin it also stops you making mistakes so obviously the Nobles at court are going to be quite happy to commit a sin if killing King James is going to make them King but the other message is even if you succeed in that like MC Beth you will fail and one of the ways you will fail is through the effects of your guilt guilt will send you mad and that's why Shakespeare gives MC Beth this Hallucination is this a dagger which I be see before me come let me Clutch thee and so he Embraces his Madness and rejects his guilt he Embraces the imaginary bloody dagger and Embraces killing Duncan and therefore God and his own mind destroys him as soon as he has committed the murder his Madness gets worse as a result of guilt me thought I heard a voice cry MC Beth shall sleep no more MC Beth hath murdered sleep the innocent sleep and so what we've got here is Shakespeare dramatizing the very quick descent into madness but also becoming King is going to suck all the joy out of his life in other words the great prize of kingship is worthless unless you are the divinely appointed King the divine right of kings remember and that's why we must keep King James that is Shakespeare's political message and remember the relevant context here is that the play isn't just put on at the globe for everyone oh no the play is put on at the court of King James King James has paid for this play and so the political message is directed at the audience King James know some of whom after the Gunpowder Plot will be thinking killing the King what a wonderful idea maybe I will become the new king the guilt continues will all great Neptune's oceans wash this Blood clean from my hands McBeth now that he has gone against the divine right of kings goes back to A Primitive god Neptune not a Christian God this is Shakespeare's way of showing the audience that your guilt will force you to reject God and the consequence of that which they 100% believed in was an eternity in hell so that is the big hitting message God will turn against you because of what you've done you'll never be able to justify it you're feeling this feeling of guilt because this is God's way of speaking to you and like MC Beth you will be turning away from God there is also a lot of irony here because McBeth will clean his hands and he won't worry about the number of people he's killed ironically lady McBeth who at this stage feels no guilt for the Murder She she's the one who later on is going to be saying out damn spot she's going to be haunted and hypnotized by the guilt of what she and MC Beth have done but we'll say that for later in the essay at this stage lady McBeth says I shame to wear a heart so white she is instructing her husband to reject guilt and Shakespeare God is going to punish her there is a delicious irony here white symbolizes innocence and Purity but she is using it to symbolize cowardice like waving the white flag and so Shakespeare is going to use her words against her she is rejecting innocence she's rejecting what it is to be a good person she's rejecting what it is to be a woman unsex me here remember and therefore society and God is going to punish her and she's going to die before MC Beth and she's going to kill herself because her mind has been destroyed by guilt am I going to mention that now no I'm going to come to it later in the essay but you can mention it now the examiner will be thrilled now we come to the killing of Banquo and this is the first time that McBeth doesn't commit the murder himself I like to think of this as McBeth valuing his friendship with Bano more than his relationship as a subject to King Duncan this is the one that really makes him feel guilty what he says to Bano is thou can't not say I did it never Shake thy Glory locks at me he doesn't have visions of Duncan coming to punish him for what he's done no he has visions of the ghost of Banquo Banquo is far more real to him it's a far more personal assassination and so his guilt is greater Shakespeare's other message of course is well once you killed the king because you Nobles at court won't be the rightful air you'll have to start assassinating other people people people who are going to be your friends remember the caution we tale at the beginning in my thesis statement now one way that MC Beth disowns his guilt and overcomes it is to stop feeling and one of the ways that we can see that is when he's talking about his decision to kill more and more people and he says it will have blood not I not I am going to kill more people no the blood that I have shed will demand that I shed more blood this makes it much easier for him to keep killing and it makes it easier for him to accept that killing is not his own personal decision it's like something has taken over him blood itself has developed its own identity Shakespeare's cautionary tale is if he had listened to his feelings of guilt this would never have happened lady McBeth brings us back to the foreshadowing where McBeth says me thought I heard a voice cry MC Beth does murder sleep she says to him you lack the seasons of all Nature's Sleep but just like when she said MC Beth is too full of the milk of human kindness she is completely wrong MC Beth isn't to full of the milk of humankindness at all is he look what's happened to him and ironically it's not his own sleep that he's murdered we find that out in the sleepwalking scene where MC Beth demonstrates his love for lady MC Beth by interrupting his preparations for battle and saying Hey doctor my wife is not sleeping properly and she is troubled by these Visions as she sleepwalks can you please cure her of that how does he know this well obviously he's not sleeping with her if he were he would hear all the things that lady MC Beth says in her sleep and there is absolutely no way on Earth he would let anyone else here because basically lady MC Beth is saying look we murdered everybody okay so MC Beth doesn't know what she's saying he just knows that she's sleepwalking and that proves that he is sleeping separately he is sleeping fine who sleep has he murdered lady MC Beth's and that word murder is important because it's directly going to lead to her killing herself in other words that Beth has murdered Lady M Beth he's maneuvered her into a position where she wants to commit suicide so when she says out damned spot she uses the word damned to signify that she's going to hell she reiterates it with hell is murky Shakespeare's message you go against your conscience you don't listen to your sense of guilt your guilt will destroy you on Earth but then you will be permanently destroyed your soul will be destroyed in Hell very simple Christian message then she says what's done cannot be undone again a cautionary tale saying look once you've done something so terrible that you need to feel guilty even if you can get rid of that guilt you can't get rid of the consequences of what you've done that is a metaphor for exactly how Beth's life pans out but there is also the patriarchal message remember from our thesis statement because she did say come you spirits that tend on mtal thoughts unsex me here and what she's also being punished for is by rejecting her role as a woman and becoming what she perceives as masculine rejecting her feminine role is what directly leads to her punishment and so we can read this as a way to stop women wanting more and demand that they accept their role in society even if that role leaves them powerless there is a kind of great Injustice here for lady McBeth because her only role is to provide HS to M Beth and as we know she's still lactating because her baby has just died it's been that recent and we can look at that death of their children if they've ever had more than one as a motive to acquire a greater purpose because she cannot fulfill her purpose as a mother and provider of AES so that's another way that Shakespeare could be hinting that patriarchal society attacks women it gives them only that one role which is not enough and if they fail in that role how on Earth are they going to achieve status then we have MC Beth's reaction to her death here he has rejected guilt he just says she should have died Hereafter now many commentators see that as proof that MC Beth no longer loves his wife she has served a purpose to help him commit regicide but after that he simply abandoned her I don't agree with that perspective I think he's deeply in love with his wife still I've already hinted at that when he stops the battle or stops his preparation I should say to get the doctor to cure her diseased mind mind but what else is going on here is MC Beth knows he can't win all these Nobles have gone over to Malcolm side and the English side he knows that he's going to be overwhelmed he is desperate to find out who this person in is that's going to kill him he actually goes out looking who is the man who was not born of woman yeah he actually goes out looking to find the person who's going to kill him many people say oh no he's an idiot he believes the witch's prophecies he thinks he's Immortal he thinks no one's going to be able to kill him because the witches have told him but I don't buy that he knows they are giving him a riddle he knows that at the end of this there will be someone who is not born of woman he just can't work out how the hell that could happen who's not born of a woman it sounds impossible but he knows he's going to die when he makes this speech he is all already welcoming death he knows it's going to happen that's why he says she should have died Hereafter like not without me we should have died together this is where he turns against God and he said life is a tale told by an idiot in other words our lives are scripted out there is a fate yes so the tragic hero is always undone by their hamasha which leads to their fate most people think MC Beth Amara was ambition personally I don't accept that I think ambition wasn't enough his hamasha was his love for his wife but also his blood lust that is a separate video you can have whatever you like for his hamasha but he blames God God is the person writing the script God is the idiot who has written mcbeth's fate well of course back to the idea of the cautionary tale McBeth is committing a huge sin he's not just denying God he's saying God is an idiot imagine how his Christian audience would react to that obviously they're going to reject him just as they're going to reject his callous and evil assassination of King Duncan life for him is now nihilistic it is a tale told by an ID Yet full of Sound and Fury signifying nothing there is no meaning to life where can you find meaning in life two places one in your Christian faith and two in the social order the great chain of being which says this is where you belong in society and this is where you must stay MC Beth is punished for ignoring the guilt that would have kept him at his place in society and seeking to rise now you probably won't have time under exam conditions to deal with McDuff unless you write super fast like Mr SI and I love the idea of McDuff because he exists as a Counterpoint to MC Beth many people say oh yes MC Beth bad McDuff good in the same way that they say MC Beth bad Bano good but I think Shakespeare is much more subtle than that so his wife calls him a traitor and she proves to be correct because she says he's abandoned us and we're now exposed and in 30 seconds or so or a minute who turns up but MC Beth's assassins kills a lady McDuff and her whole family McDuff himself says sinful McDuff they were all struck for thee so he knows that his family are killed because of what he's done however this is the significant difference mcdu accepts his guilt and he seeks to atone for that guilt how by not drawing his sword he says I'm going to leave it un sheathed until I meet McBeth and so killing McBeth is his way of overcoming or atoning for the guilt of leaving his father family interestingly when McBeth meets McDuff he too starts to experience guilt it is as though McDuff and his ability to feel guilt transmits itself to McBeth and he says to McDuff look I can't kill you because my soul is too much charged with blood of thine already a moment of sensitivity this isn't arrogance saying no man can kill me it's saying look I've got to find this guy is going to kill me and I don't want to kill you in the process this is because he already knows he's going to die when McDuff tells him he is the one who was from his mother's room untimely ripped then it's like okay I'll get over my guilt and I will fight you he says that he is afraid but he is grateful for that fear because in avoiding his sense of guilt he's got rid of all his emotions remember when lady MC Beth died he says I have forgot the taste of fears what he means is I wish I could feel fear again so when McDuff tells him that he is the man MC Beth welcomes that fear he experiences is it but then it's like yes I'm human again I'm going to die as a proper feeling human even though I am someone who is a victim of Fate a victim of God remember he's not accepting responsibility for what he's done he is blaming the person who wrote the tale that he is acting in at the end of the play Shakespeare reiterates his message message McBeth didn't feel guilt and so instead his actions taught bloody instruction in other words all he did by killing Duncan was teach other people that they can kill him that it is okay to kill a king and so you will have a pic Victory a victory that destroys you and the Victory will be yeah you can kill King James and become king but then someone else is going to kill you and on the way your mind and happiness and marriage will be completely destroyed by your feelings of guilt or your attempts to deny that guilt at the end McBeth and Lady McBeth have descended the great chain of being so rather than being at the top as king and queen she has become a fiend not even human because hey we're in a patriarchal society and women are always worse than men that's one message of the play and the King has become merely a butcher and so both lady McBeth and McBeth are rightfully punished by a Christian God who reestablishes the social order puts Malcolm back on the throne all of that could have been avoided if McBeth had listened to that suggestion guilt playing in his head when he first thought about kill Duncan so what happens if a different question comes up Mr sales well you're still going to use what I've taught you here as far as possible to answer that question and obviously you're going to use anything else that you know it's highly unlikely that you'll get a lady McBeth question because that came up last year but the Supernatural Well that's almost inevitable I reckon if you don't get guilt where will you find out about the supernatural to two places I'm going to teach you now but also at the end of the video I'm going to link to my Supernatural video prediction from last year why didn't I predict the supernatural this year well I went to two large language models that is AI so I just gave chat gbt and Gemini all the past questions in the order in which they appeared and I said please predict the next question and they both predicted guilt that's why I'm making this prediction video just in case it isn't the supernatural but if it is the supernatural well what am I going to say my thesis statement is going to be the same but instead of guilt I'm going to use the word Supernatural so the supernatural gives MC Beth this idea to kill Duncan through the predictions of the witches but the prediction also leads to his guilt which he ignores now the job of the Supernatural is to get MC Beth to ignore his feelings of guilt to ignore his doubts how does it do that well it starts implanting images in his mind which are calls to action so the dagger calls him towards killing king Duncan you might even think the supernatural the murdering ministers influence lady Mel death to therefore help him become a killer the Supernatural is also playing with McBeth taking joy in destroying his mind and so it may be not just m Beth imagining this noise the supernatural might have placed it there the supernatural you could also claim is responsible for Banquo ghosts who comes along to to destroy mcbeth's mind so we can use the same quotes to show how the Supernatural is an agent of chaos interested only in upsetting the social order destroying the great chain of being killing the King appointed by Divine Right the role of the Supernatural is therefore to mess with the characters heads with their Christian belief we'll go to that speech that MC Beth gave us once lady MC Beth has died and a defense against the evil powers of the Supernatural Well that is to listen to your conscience to listen to those feelings of guilt which will stop you committing terrible sins You could argue that the supernatural wins because it succeeds in toying both with McBeth and Lady McBeth and thirdly with McDuff it destroys his life as well so this idea that the witches are agents of chaos who just want to upset everything plays out all the way through then when we get to the end of the play we have what seems to be the restoration of Malcolm well is the restoration of Malcolm but bloody instruction has still been taught because remember the witch's prophecies at the beginning were that banquo's Sons will be Kings fleance is still going to become a king how will that happen if Malcolm is the king and so that final ending has that bitter sweetness about it yes order is restored for now but when will fleance become king will he become king through bloody instruction getting rid of Malcolm or will it happen through Divine appointment will Malcolm decide that fleance is going to be his successor perhaps Shakespeare had in mind a sequel he didn't write it however I have two sequels for you would you like this whole essay written out for you so that you can memorize it for the exam if you would the link is in the description if you would like an analysis of all the main quotes that you can use no matter what the essay title that is also in the link in the description or no Mr sales we're not interested in your strange moneymaking schemes we just want an essay plan for the supernatural give it to me for free well all right that is the video coming up now or just go and click the link get those resources meet me a million there well buy me
