The Spiritual Impact of Secular Music

Hey, Shalom, Most High and Christ Blessed. I'm Captain Yadin, and to my left, Officer Ben Anay. And this is 15 Minutes with the Captains, and today our topic is going to be on secular music. Alright, we're going to talk about that hip-hop and R&B music that our people listen to every day. and the effects that it has on you, your spirit, and should we be doing this or should we not be doing this, all right? So let's start off with Haggai chapter 1 and verse 5. This is the book of Haggai chapter 1 and verse 5. Now therefore, thus said the Lord of hosts. consider your ways. So the scripture says for the Israelites, we need to consider our ways. You so call blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans, you the Israelites that the Bible speak of, and it's time for us to start considering our ways. We got to consider the things that we put in our spirit. If not, it's going to lead to our destruction, right? So give me 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and verse 33. 1 Corinthians 15 verse 33. Because hip-hop and R&B music is Basically, what everybody listens to. Going down the street, all you hear is music coming out of people's cars and radios. Not just for the Israelites, but this one of those, we sometimes call this our culture. They say hip-hop music is our culture. But that's not our culture according to the scriptures. But read that. The book of 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, in verse 33. Go ahead. Be not deceived. So the scripture says don't be deceived. Don't be tricked. Don't let anybody fool you. fool you or beguile you to make you think that hip-hop is our culture. Right? Evil communications. What's that? Evil communications. Evil communications. We have to wake up and agree that the music that we listen to, that we let our kids listen to, this music is evil. It's evil communication. It's talking about sex, drugs. It's demeaning our sisters. You know, it's effeminizing our men. is doing everything that we want to fix in our communities. Hip-hop and R&B music is basically tearing that thing apart. So it says, be not deceived. Read that again. Be not deceived. Evil communications corrupt. Good manners. So listening to these evil communication is going to corrupt good manners. It's going to cause you to do certain things. If you're sitting around and you're letting your daughters listen in to Cardi B, the City Girls, Lil' Kim. the twerk team all this different music what do you think they're going to be doing? It's going to cause them to act out the things that they listen to every day. If your son's listening to drug dealers talking about get rich or die trying they listen to a little yachty, NBA young boy, all these different people, it's going to cause them to want to follow them. Evil communication, it corrupts good matters. It's a documentary that's out right now, and it's about this young man. It was about these four young men, and they was about to rob a bank. And what happened was they pulled up to the bank, and they got scared. They got chickened out they weren't going to do it. So they got back in the car. car and they turned the radio on and Tupac Hail Mary was playing and if I'm not gonna sing the lyrics but they listened to that and that music put a spirit on them and it caused them to go and they robbed that bank and I think they went to jail they went to prison after he got out of prison he made this movie about it so read that scripture one more time the book of first Corinthians chapter 15 and verse 33. Go ahead. Be not deceived. Evil communication corrupt good. good manners. So those, that evil communication, that rap music, it's going to corrupt your manners. It's going to cause you to do the things that you listen to in that, in those songs and make you act them out. Go to Sirach chapter 9 verse 15 to show us what kind of communication we should be dealing with. Communication, it's not just going into you talking, but it's going into you giving and receiving information. Let's see what kind of communication the Bible commands us to have. This is the book of Sirach chapter 9 and verse 15. Go ahead. Let our talk be with the wise. Go ahead. And all thy communication in the law of the most high. See, if we let our talk be with the wise and our communication be of the law of the most high, that's the kind of things we're going to be putting into our spirit. When we start putting in the laws of God in our spirit, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery, no fornication, no murder, no lie. When we put those laws in place, into us, we listen to those things. When we meditate on those things, we feed that to our spirit, and we're going to start acting those things out. But if we keep dealing with the evil communication, it's going to corrupt our good manners, right? Give me on the book of Philippians. chapter 4 and verse 8. And this is something that's big. You know, we allow our kids to sit around and listen to this music all day. They walk around with their earbuds in, with their beat headphones in. You parents out there, you need to make sure you know what your kids are listening to because if they feed all this evil communication to their spirit, it's going to corrupt their good manners. Read that. This is the book of Philippians, chapter 4 and verse 8. Go ahead. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true. It said, whatsoever with things are true. We know according to the scriptures that the truth is the laws of God. Read. Whatsoever things are honest. Go ahead. Whatsoever things are just. Read. Whatsoever things are pure. Whatsoever things are lovely. Whatsoever things of good report. Go ahead. If there be any virtue and if there be any praise. Think on these things. So unless you know we need to be thinking on those things, we shouldn't be listening to this music that has nothing to do with pureness, nothing to do with virtue, nothing to do with just. Anything is not honest, but when we let that stuff come into our spirit, it's going to corrupt us. It's going to turn us into the communities and neighborhoods that we have today. When we curse out our women, when we think it's okay to have three, four, five different girlfriends, when women, it's fine for them to be pushing around a stroller with two kids and having some kids follow. them with three four different dudes and in their mind the words is in their mind is um brothers ain't s because that's what the music is talking about right so we got to turn ourselves away from that music because it's worldly as hell give me first john chapter 2 verse 15, because the trends of the world today are set by your hip-hop artists. I think they worship Beyonce as a, almost as like she has her own church or her own religion. Kanye West, Jay-Z's, all these different people, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj. If you speak about any of these people on any social media, all day you'll have a train of people just coming at you, because we worship these people. We love the world. Read that. This is the book of 1 John, chapter 2, in verse 15. Go ahead. Love not the world. So we got to turn away from these worldly things such as hip-hop and R&B music. We got to turn away from it. Right? Neither the things that are in the world. Go ahead. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Because a lot of us, we worship this music. We love it. Anytime a new album come out, we got to have it. We got to listen to it. You know, we waiting for it to come up on Apple Music or any kind of stream. service. We waiting for it. This coming out on Wednesday. This coming out on Tuesday. Right? We can't love that thing. If we love that more than the most high, the love of the Father is not in us. Read. Verse 16. Go ahead. For all that is in the world. All this hip hop and R&B secular music. Read. The lust of the flesh. Because that music's all about the lust of the flesh. Right? The things that people want. They talk about big rims. Big cars. Big shiny cars. Big chains. Gold teeth. Having three, four, five different women. That's a lust of the world, right? And the lust of the eyes. The lust of the eyes. The things you see. When you look at these videos, most of the videos, they're going to have half-naked women in them. And all of them are going to have weave in their head, blonde hair. And they definitely want to deal with the lighter-skinned women of our people. If not, the other nations, right? That's the lust of the eyes. We lust after these things. That music causes all these different things, right? And. And the pride of life. The pride of life. I got a Hummer sitting on 22s. I love stunting. All that is the pride of life. That's what that music makes you think upon. The scriptures say we want to think of the things that are just, that are pure, that are honest. Not on all these prideful things. And next thing you know, you're shooting your brother down for a pair of Jordans. You're shooting your brother down because he scraped the candy paint on your 84 Cutlass. Right? Read that. Is not of the father. Go ahead. But is of the world. It's all of the world. And we can't love those different things. That's it on that. No. Verse 17. Go ahead. And the world passes away. But all these things, they're going to pass away. Right. Those shiny cars, those big rims, those everything that they talk about, the fake injections that our women get because they look and they see these videos and they listen to this music. And I think that's what. what a woman's supposed to look like. And men, that's what they're looking for because of the music that they listen to and what they rap about in these songs. Go ahead. And the world passes away in the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God. abide forever guess what we if you do the will meaning keeping god's laws statutes and commandments it's going to abide forever right give me um sirach chapter 40 and verse 13 right you say because the things of the world they're going to go away all this different lust that they they deal with. You know, when you watch, think about these rappers and these musicians, they show you a dream. They sell you a dream, right? And on reality, they're really broke. All these different dreams that they're selling you, all these different lusts and stuff that we get after listening to this music, it's not really what they have really going on. It's all lies. It's all vanity. Read. This is the book of Sirach, chapter 40 and verse 13. Go ahead. The goods of the on Jess. should be dried up like a river. So it's letting you know that the goods of all these hip-hop artists, these R&B artists that sing about all this music that's detrimental to our society, all these different things they have, they dry up. These rappers, they be hot for a second, and next thing you know, they're at Burger King taking your order through the window, right? They got specials on them. Where are they now? Right? Because all these lusts of the world is not going to get you anywhere. But they end up tricking our people and making our kids want to be like them. A lot of these rappers tell you to sell dope all day long. But they send their kids to private schools and they put their kids through prestigious colleges. Right? Some of these rappers, what's the rapper? Future. They sing about mollies and Percocets. They don't even do drugs, right? They don't do drugs because this industry is controlled by the other nations. The so-called Jewish man, they control hip-hop music and they make sure that the music that's uplifting for our community, that's about, what's the word I'm looking for? Empowerment. You know, that's about lifting yourselves up. That's about us depending on one another that those songs don't get playtime. But anything about. shooting your brother, shooting your sister, talking negatively about the women in our communities, we listen to that all day long. You can listen to that all day long. So we got to make sure we got to understand that all the things that he got us lusting over, it's going to dry up. That's not going to be there with us forever. That's it on that scripture. Verse 13. Go ahead. The goods. of the unjust shall be dried up like a river and shall vanish with noise like a great thunder and rain so that stuff is not going to be with them anymore that they're tricking us into deceiving our people to making us think that they can be rich and make it just like them all that evil communication that's coming out of this music is going to corrupt you it's corrupting your good as a matter of fact go to first corinthians chapter 10 verse 23 first corinthians 10 verse 23 because what profit do we have in listening to this music yeah the beat sound good it rhymes this and that people may think you're cool if you pull up listening to the new jeezy but what's the profit in that read that this is the book of first corinthians chapter 10 in verse 23 go ahead all things are lawful for me go ahead but all things are not expedient. I mean... This is a video that I made a few years ago. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. I made a video about the first time I was in the US Army. You would want such a kid in a room listening to Cardi B. 24 hours a day. There's no edification in that. What is it going to teach her? It's going to teach her it's okay to be a stripper. It's going to teach her it's okay to sleep with as many men as she can just for her to make some money. There's no edification in this music. Give me 1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 12. 6 verse 12. It's time for our people to wake up and pay attention to the things that they listen to to know the effects that it has on their soul and their spirit. Read that. This is the book of 1st Corinthians chapter 6 and verse 12. Go ahead. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient. Go ahead. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. See, a lot of our people, when we listen to this music, it brings us under that power. Like the story I was given about the brothers who drove that bank. You know, you can be. Having a good day, you listen to some of this music and they see, you know, you get thinking about your baby mama. You get to thinking about your ex. You get to thinking about the dude you used to deal with back in the day. You used to think about the weed you used to smoke. You used to think about the weed you used to sell. And it gets you back into that, it's calling you back into that lifestyle that you're either repenting from or you're still in it and you need to get away from. This stuff right here can bring you under that subjection. And we gotta fix that. We gotta stay away from that. You know, give me 2 Peter chapter 3 and verse 10. 2 Peter chapter 3 and verse 10. Now, matter of fact, give me 1 Samuel chapter 16. Let me show you something in the Bible that shows about the effects of music on our people. 1 Samuel chapter 16, starting verse 14. It's time for our people to wake up and come back to the scriptures. This is what we need to meditate on, the laws of the Most High God. Read that. This is the book of 1 Samuel chapter 16 and verse 14. Go ahead. But the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul. So this is talking about King Saul. You know, the spirit of the Most High was taken away from Saul. The Most High took his spirit away from Saul. Read. And an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him. And he put an evil spirit of the Lord that was troubling him. Read. And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold, now an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. Let our Lord now command thy servants which are before thee to seek out a man who is a cunning player of an harp. So the servants of Saul realized that it was an evil spirit on him. So they knew they needed to find somebody that could play some music, right? They needed some music to play. What kind of music do you think they was going to play? You think they was going to play some Tupac? for Saul to get him out the bad spirit you think it's gonna play some uh 50 cent what you think you love some little yachty nah if you listen to that that's gonna put you deeper in a in a spirit of depression it'll put you deeper in the spirit that's going against God's law such as commandments drop down to verse 23 verse 23 go ahead and it came to pass when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul so they knew that anytime that evil spirit came upon King Saul go ahead that David took in harp and played with his hands. So he was, David took the harp and he started playing the harp, playing real nice mellow music for King Saul. Go ahead. So Saul was refreshed and was well and the evil spirit departed from him. So the scriptures let us know that this music can have power on you depending on what type of music you listen to. If you're listening to good music, uplifting music, soft. refreshing music, it can really ease your spirit. But if you keep putting in that NBA Youngboy, Gucci Mane, Cardi B, Beyonce, who else? I'm probably naming all old people because I don't really know who out there right now. City Girls. Oh, the City Girls. You know, the City Girls. The City Girls got a song called Act Up. It's wicked. Don't listen to it. But the funny thing about that song, it was written by a man. So a man, Lil Yachty, wrote that song for the city girls for them to rap. It shows you there's all kinds of wickedness in hip-hop music. That a man writing songs for women about all kinds of evil, wicked things that women do. Alright, give me 2 Peter 3, verse 10. I'm going to end it with this. 2 Peter 3, verse 10 through 11. Let's read that. This is the book of 2 Peter, chapter 3. You said 3? Yeah, chapter 3, verse 10. the book of second peter chapter 3 in verse 10 go ahead but the day of the lord will come as a thief in the night so the scriptures let us know that the end time is coming and it's going to come as a thief in the night we're not going to know when it's going to happen we're not going to know when christ is going to make his second return read and the witch the heavens shall pass away with a great noise that's talking about nuclear destruction read and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. earth also and the works that are within it shall be burnt up seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved so it's like you know that since we know that this is going to happen that we're not going to know the day or the hour when the return is going to come and when destruction is going to be on them on this world since we don't know that but we know what is going to happen What manner of persons are ye to be in all holy conversation? and godliness it says what kind of person you're going to be in all your conversations and godliness do you want to be listening to tupac and 50 cent city girls beyonce when christ makes the return hey it's time for us to consider our ways and that's my 15 minutes with the captains shalom most high christ bless shalom Take care of our hearts!
