Volume of Prisms and Pyramids

Rectangular Prisms

  • Formula: V = Area of the base * Height
  • Base of Rectangular Prism: Rectangle (multiply two side lengths that form a right angle)
  • Example Calculation:
    • Height: 9
    • Area of base: 3 * 11 = 33
    • Volume: 33 * 9 = 297 mm³

Triangular Prisms

  • Formula: V = Area of the base * Height
  • Base of Triangular Prism: Triangle (base * height / 2)
  • Example Calculation:
    • Height: 10
    • Area of base: (8 * 6) / 2 = 24
    • Volume: 24 * 10 = 240 m³

Rectangular Pyramids

  • Formula: V = 1/3 * Area of the base * Height
  • Base of Rectangular Pyramid: Rectangle (length * width)
  • Example Calculation:
    • Height: 12
    • Area of base: 7 * 3 = 21
    • Volume: (1/3 * 21) * 12 = 84 cm³

Triangular Pyramids

  • Formula: V = 1/3 * Area of the base * Height
  • Base of Triangular Pyramid: Triangle (base * height / 2)
  • Example Calculation:
    • Height: 21
    • Area of base: (30 * 10) / 2 = 150
    • Volume: (1/3 * 150) * 21 = 1050 in³
