Understanding CAHPS Surveys for Healthcare

(bright music) - [Narrator] Your healthcare organization hears a lot from patients. But it's hard to know what to do with all that information. You need a survey that asks your patients about their experiences with care, and focuses on what's most important to them. Above all, a survey that will help you improve patient care. What survey does all this? The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, or CAHPS Surveys, from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. CAHPS Surveys ask patients what happened when they got care, not how they felt about it. The survey developers worked closely with patients and healthcare professionals to focus on topics that really matter. Because you're asking a standard set of questions, you can compare your results to other organizations. And use those results to pinpoint where you need to improve.
