first time here I'm Clara from acup Academy and I create Chinese medicine and acupuncture contents for student and practitioners making it easy to grasp and fun to learn and as you can see today I'm enjoying an outside recording of beautiful British Columbia Canada now let's look at the three Chinese medicine exercises that you can tell your patients to do daily in order to age gracefully are you ready let's do it start by sitting down in a comfortable position or you can lay down as well Place both hands on your lower abdominal region your dominant hand should be on red four and red six below the belly button and your opposite hand above it on when 8 and when 12 while taking big deep breath from the lung all the way to the belly button reaching the kidneys and then once you've done that six times start massaging your lower abdominal region in a circular motion clockwise in the direction of your large intestine while taking big deep breath this is key to aging well for the second exercise we're going to locate stomach 36 below the kneecap using your hand width your founder point below the knee one finger breath from the shin bone or the tibia we can massage it using a ball in a circular motion or even up and down the leg for about 2 minutes on each side stomach 36 is the best point to boost the immune system regulate digestion increase energy we all want some of that and is an overall point to stay healthy so it's a great preventative health point for the third exercise found small intestine by putting your index finger on the Bony part of the wrist called the styloid process of the on bone facing the heart with your palm massage it in both Direction in a circle motion around the area of SMA S6 for about two minutes while taking big deep breaths then gently lift and pinch the skin rapidly for about six times you can repeat this on the opposite arm arm sman six in shiong is said to relax the shoulder and neck where there's a lot of tension in order to relieve stress therefore slowing the aging process how do we age according to Chinese medicine two causes prenatal Chi and postnatal Chi prenatal Chi is basically the essence that was given to us by our parents so we have two parents that got together and you were born right so now when we look at this if there is a lot of cardiovascular disorder within the family history we need to do everything we can to prevent ourselves from going that way as well does that make sense so it's great for preventative purpose but not necessarily to stop it because if it's part of our genetics it's going to be really hard to change however with epigenetics nowadays we can manipulate and change things so that's good news for everybody we haven't discovered a potion that keeps us uh aging looking young forever but we can feel really good and that's really important how we feel inside right second cause is postnatal chi so postnatal Chi is what happened after we were born we needed air so we need to breathe fresh air be outside look at this like go to Nature ground yourself deep breathing exercis is key to living a long life according to CH medicine because we can breathe deeply using our lungs and reach the kidneys which is the root of who we are and kidney can grasp that long Chi energy in order for us to age healthily the second one is we needed food and drinks when we were born first so this is really important diet is key to aging really well not overeating eating a really healthy wholesome diet including eating local food in season and specifically eating mindfully do your food and then after those two first basic needs we need support we need love so having support is really key to aging healthily having a group of people friends family that are there to love us and we love them back hugs are the best thing to keep us happy and loving for the person that gives you a hug and you while you're giving a hug so postnatal Chi air food and drinks support and love and meditation really key to aging healthily now meditation can be guided can be walking meditation or sitting out in nature and doing big de breathing exercise whatever works for you or your patients is best for long-term habits of meditating and being Mindful and present where are we this is beautiful nature are we paying attention or are we thinking of what we need to do next be in the moment be present that is so Chinese medicine have you ever tried chiong this is a big one to help us being mindful present and understanding meditation one of the thing that keeps us young is having a purpose I had a patient years ago that came to see me and she was a medical doctor at 81 she was still practicing two days a week why because she said when I lost my husband of 47 years I felt like I had no more purpose I wasn't taking care of anybody so I keep working so I have a purpose and something that gets me out of bed every day and this is why at 89 she was vibrant and hide vitality and great mman fire which is all about having vitality and looking happy with the twinkle in their eye and healthy in our 90s and if you're not sure how to found your purpose or what your purpose is which could be to make people laugh because laughter is the best medicine after Chinese medicine or before Chinese medicine maybe before Chinese medicine right laughter is fantas fantastic my husband makes me laugh all the time and that's why I keep him around so when it comes to founding your purpose if you're not sure watch my video here on the five Spirits according to Chinese medicine because it'll explain to you how we go about connecting our body to our mind to our spirit and to the world around us in order to figure out our purpose and no matter what you do stay healthy stay young and keep rocking it using TCM
