Firsty Tech Attendance Policies

Importance of Attendance

  • Attendance and active participation are crucial for success.
  • Responsible for staying informed on class information and assignments.

Entry and Withdrawal

  • To be counted as entering class:
    • Attend at least one scheduled meeting OR
    • Submit an online course entry assignment via Blackboard.
  • Census Date: Equivalent to 10% of the class's dates.
  • Missing the entry requirement by the census date leads to withdrawal for lack of attendance.

Withdrawal After Census Date

  • Withdrawal occurs if you miss 14 consecutive calendar days without attending or showing academic participation post-census date.

Ways to Meet Weekly Attendance Requirements

  1. Attend a class in person.
  2. Submit or complete an academic assignment, exam, interactive tutorial, or computer-assisted instruction.
  3. Attend a designated study group or lab.
  4. Participate in online discussions or activities related to the course.
  5. Initiate contact with your faculty member to discuss academic topics.

Activities That Do Not Count as Attendance

  • Being physically absent from a class with scheduled seated time.
  • Logging into an online course without participating.
  • Emailing a faculty member about non-academic topics.
