You take the roll call please. Bamford? Here. Keene? Here.
Green? Here. Lay?
Here. Gibbs? Here. All present and we're counting four. Alright, superintendent's report.
Okay, well we have reached the end of the school year so but I have a few things still to share. Deer Creek High School hosted another successful graduation this year. We're super proud of our class of 2024 and looking forward to seeing the great things that they will accomplish in the future. It's a lot of fun.
Congratulations to these educators. for winning Oklahoma Science Teacher Association Awards this year. They were recognized at a banquet last week for their contributions to science education in Oklahoma.
We're really proud to have them represent Deer Creek in this way. We really wrecked it in that night. We had 26 of our outgoing sixth graders travel to Washington, D.C. to start their summer learning about our nation's capital and take a deep dive into government and U.S. history. And they had a great experience.
It'll probably be something we look to continue doing in the future. So as you can tell, the interior of Knight Ridge Elementary is taking shape. We'll be sharing updated bond videos with our community soon to keep everyone informed of the progress of our active bond projects. Speaking of bond projects, not quite as interesting, but still, it counts. Groundwork is going on at the new middle school.
That'll also be a bond video too. But we're, you get what you get, alright? There's a pool, as you can tell. Several. yeah several I know yeah that's what we're doing we're sure to see some structures coming in the next few months but for those in the community been wondering what's going on next to the fourth fifth center that's the middle school so now you know and that is the superintendent's report all right recognitions and presentations update on stadium naming committee Hello, good evening.
As you know, we sent out our interest form and it was due this last Friday, 7th. We had approximately 85 people express interest. We're taking 20. So at this point, we're at the stage where we review all of those who have expressed interest.
And we're going to review their responses and we're going to categorize them by the entity that they represent, meaning our... Are they a parent? Are they staff?
Are they students? Grade levels? School sites?
Extra curricular activities? Are they in band, football, track, so on and so forth? And then we'll be able to hopefully choose some out of each category and have a well representation for the committee. Out of the 85, how many were students? Do you know?
Not off the top of my head. I mean I would guess less than 10. Right? Thank you. Thank you, Linus. Thank you.
Thank you, everyone. Thank you. Thank you. Public to be heard.
I don't show that we had anyone sign up. All right. Consideration of and vote on the consent agenda of the following items which concern reports and items of a routine nature normally approved at board meetings will be approved by one vote unless any board member desires to have a separate vote on any or all of these items. The consent agenda consists of the discussion consideration and approval of the following items 1 through 37. Does anyone wish to pull any of these items out for questions or comments?
I just had one question. On number four, Kellogg and Sovereign Consulting, I wasn't sure what that one was for. I couldn't remember what their consulting services were for. That is for our E-rate service provider.
So they help us navigate through the E-rate system. Okay. All right. Thank you.
You're welcome. Any other questions or comments? May I have a motion to approve consent agenda items 1 through 37? Move to approve consent agenda items numbered 1 through 37. Second. Lay?
Yes. Gibbs? Yes.
Bamford? Yes. Keene?
Yes. Green? Yes. Motion carries.
All right, business items. Number one, discussion and possible vote to approve the following proposals from Triple J Construction for concrete projects. Jeff Jason. Hi.
The first one is to pour a, it's at Spring Creek, it's to pour a basketball court for the kids over there. That one was to be paid out of activity funds or possibly an alternate with raising some more money. Michael told me that there's still the... The next three are really to do the repair of Rose Union's blacktop.
We have the wide cracks in there like we've been going around trying to repair. The ones that are really wide we concrete and then we coat the rest of them and then upon that we have to restripe the parking lot. All right, any questions?
You're saying you're repairing the crack with concrete? Is it cracked asphalt or cracked concrete? It's cracked blacktop, but we go in if they're really wide.
I open them up wider and pour concrete in because it'll last longer. Okay. This is kind of an ongoing problem with all our blacktop.
That's why I like concrete. Agreed. That's all the questions I had. Any other questions?
May I have a motion? Move to approve the proposal from Triple J Construction for Concrete Projects. Second. Lay?
Yes. Gibbs? Yes. Bamford? Yes.
Keene? Yes. Green?
Yes. Motion carries 5-0. Business item two, discussion and possible vote to approve a bid from Oak Security to rekey the district for the cost of $119,008.06 to be paid from bond funds.
Jeff, would you do us a favor and display your key ring for everyone? Okay, this is the reason why. And my key ring, yeah, mine looks a little bit more like Dr. Scott's there, so we're not quite as important as Jeff.
But The problem is that our principals also have key rings that kind of mirror, not Jeff's, it's not to that level, but it's enough where there could be a concern when it comes to security of them being able to quickly access doors if there was an emergency. Just through all the years, some locks have been rekeyed differently, and it's just become kind of a problem. And so what we want to do is get a new system in place where we're rekeying. We'll have, for folks like Jeff and myself, we would have one. master key that could open up any facility in the district for a principal they would be able to open any door within their building with one key and then of course teachers would be able to have their key as well and then some of our coaches would be able to have a key that would open up you know the facilities that they need as well and just it just narrows down that that amount of keys that they have which makes it safer it makes it more efficient and so we did put this out for a blind bid oak security was the only one to provide a bid but they were also the only ones that were willing to come out and do they spent several days touring all of our facilities counting every single lock that would need to be swapped out and they've actually got a pretty good structured plan on how this would work for us so we can get this implemented using our own staff or if we have to resource it out wouldn't be very expensive so any questions I have a question would it be more cost-effective to mag lock the doors versus doing key lock Fair.
Just curious. I know we still have to kind of go old school for a little bit longer, I think. Any other questions or discussion? May I have a motion? Motion to approve the bid from Oak Security to rekey the district for a cost of $119,008.06 to be paid from bond funds.
Second. Gibbs? Yes.
Lay? Yes. Bamford? Yes.
Keene? Yes. Green? Yes.
Motion passes 5-0. Item 3, discussion and possible vote to approve a quote from Avi-Spl SPL LLC for a microphone system update. For $29,547.06, that's weird, it's six cents also, to be paid out of bond funds. Yeah, so our current microphone system, we have a new gentleman that runs our pack, and our microphone system for the auditorium is actually against the law. The FCC banned certain frequencies within the microphone systems.
Now, they still operate, but we're not supposed to be using them. So as he's come in, he said, hey, they still work, but if the FCC were to see that, we would be in trouble. And I said, oh, let's get a quote on that. So we did a few quotes on that.
This one was by far the cheapest. This will upgrade the entire microphone system, you know, lapel mics, headset mics, handhelds for the auditorium at the PAC. So it will make us current and legal. We'll be good to go. That's great.
Any questions or discussion? What about the rest of the microphone systems at the football field, the baseball fields? Are they also out of compliance?
They're not. Yeah, they're not out of compliance. Those aren't the ones. These are mainly because it's the largest system.
So some of those have newer systems that have been updated with the current frequencies. These are some of our oldest microphones in the district. So that's a great question.
Any other questions? May I have a motion? Move to approve the quote from Avi-Spl-SPL for a microphone system update for $29,547.06 to be paid out of bond funds.
I'll second the motion. Lay? Yes. Green?
Yes. Bamford? Yes.
Keene? Yes. Gibbs?
Yes. Motion passes 5-0. Thank you. Item number five, no, sorry, four, discussion and...
A possible vote to update the board policy, JHB, comprehensive wellness. Yeah, so this will hopefully wrap up our child nutrition audit from our State Department of Education. It's under item 10. And simply they wanted us to put in there a redundant phrase that basically says we're going to follow our fundraiser policy. So that's it, and this should wrap it up.
It was riveting to read by the way. Yeah. Any questions or comments? May I have a motion? Move to update the board policy JHB.
I'm sorry, JHB comprehensive wellness as presented. Second. Lay.
Yes. Keene. Yes. Bamford.
Yes. Green. Yes.
Gibbs. Yes. Motion passes 5-0. Discussion and possible vote to approve a quote for managed methods for one year subscription for Google Workspace Cloud monitoring for $15,640 to be paid from activity funds. Dr. Hazelway.
So this is a platform that will allow us to be more surgical and sort of have a better grasp on what's going on inside of our Google system. It helps us to be able to do the things that we need to do that are right now really using our Google Admin Console system. It's a little bit more clunky, so better. Any questions? May I have a motion?

Item 6, discussion and possible vote to approve the 2025-26 school district calendar. Stop distracting her, Maggie. Okay, I don't know if you've had a chance to look at this.
This is the 25-26 school year calendar. We come up with several options and they go through several committees. Usually three options, two to three options that fit within our parameters.
They start with our cabinet, they go to our principals and assistant principals to review, then they go to our DCACT, which is our teachers union, and then they go out to the entire district. to vote and the final vote came for a draft number three and there's nothing majorly different on this one other than in October typically we have the Monday after fall break off They chose, which that was one of the options, to still have that, but they chose to have a day off in April rather than that Monday. So that's going to be the only difference for our parents to get used to, and we'll just need to communicate that.
Just like a random day in April? April 10th. Okay.
We try not to, a lot of people ask, you know, are we taking Good Friday off? Well, sometimes Good Friday can fall in March, and so we try to separate the Friday that we take off in April. So if we're able to.
a few weeks after spring break since spring break usually falls so late so it's not back to back. And we also try to, as much as possible, stay out of the testing window. Yes. My son was curious if they could have off Mondays.
Absolutely. Just checking. So we have school until July. He might not like that.
Well, if he gets Mondays, then I want us to start on like September 15th. Okay, so year-round school. So you're writing all these things down for 26?
and to go till six o'clock at night we can make this work yeah all right any other questions or comments we have a motion i'll make a motion to approve the 2025-26 school district calendar green yes lay yes banford yes keen yes gibbs yes motion carries five to zero discussion impossible vote to update board policy a3 non-discrimination and i'll just mention real quick before Linus gets going that this didn't make it in your packets I apologize but I made sure you had a copy there it's a pretty significant changes Linus will describe yes we're just simply adding career tech just to be in compliance with our audit Any questions? May I have a motion? Move to approve the update to board policy A3 regarding non-discrimination.

Yes It is my honor to recommend mr. Ty Harrison He is coming to us from Crooked Oak where he's been a very successful special special education teacher prior to that He was in Norman also as a special education teacher He has been a part of their leadership He's also coached basketball and softball.
