Steps to Tie the FG Knot

Preparation

• Ensure the braid is coming off your reel and rod tightly.
• Hold the braid tightly by placing it in your mouth for tension.

Knot Formation

1. Initial Turns

   • Cross the braid over the mono line.
   • Pull it back towards yourself, then go below the mono.
   • Alternate direction with each loop (e.g., away, towards) while keeping each turn tight.
   • Continue this process for about 20-30 turns.

2. Half Hitches

   • Pinch the turns tightly, then remove the braid from your mouth.
   • Perform a half hitch over both the braid and mono to secure the turns.
   • Tighten it up securely.
   • Add a second half hitch, possibly in the opposite direction, to further secure the knot.

3. Secure the Knot

   • Pull on both the braid and mono to tighten.
   • Use external help (like a tool) to hold the braid if necessary.

Completing the Knot

• Final Half Hitches

  • Shorten the braid for ease.
  • Alternate directions with the half hitches to prevent twisting.
  • Perform a minimum of four half hitches.

• Trimming and Locking

  • Cut the mono close to the knot.
