hello I'm Dallas Johnson I want to show you exactly how to obtain your Georgia dealers license no matter what you have to take a dealer training class the state does require that you set through a 4-Hour training class I'm going to be giving your class for you and I'm going to do my very best to streamline the entire process in your class and show you exactly how to get your dealer's license as soon as possible so you can open your business as soon as possible and get you making some money as soon as possible so I do give the classes all over the state I give your training classes in Atlanta Augusta Columbus mon Savannah and for our friends down in the southern part of the state I also give them in valdasta there's no test but you just have to set through the entire class and at the end of the class I'll give you your official certificate of completion that you will need to submit with your license application if you haven't completed any steps that's totally fine I always recommend coming in to your dealer training class as your very first step and then I'm going to do my best to steer you and guide you in the right direction on the day of the class with a lot of good contact information for you as well we're going to help you decide which license category is best for you so you're either getting a new motor vehicle dealer license which allows you to sell new motor vehicles like Chevrolets Toyotas Fords things like that or you can get a used motor vehicle license which is going to allow you to sell used motor vehicles you can also get what's called a supplemental license which allows you to open additional locations and I think many of you might be interested in what's called a motor vehicle broker license which allows you to get a dealer's license without a lot and this is a great way to get into the industry it's a great way to get into the dealer auctions and start buying and selling vehicles and it does allow you to sell to customers that do not have a dealer's license almost all other states that don't require you to have a lot will only allow you to sell to other licensed motor vehicle dealers but the state of Georgia allows you to get a broker's license so you can sell not only to other dealers but also to retail customers that do not have a license in your dealer training class I'm going to show you how to submit your application through the Georgia online application licensing system and this new system has really expedited The Lure approval process so in the past we used to mail in documentation to the board in Mak and nine out of 10 dealer applications were missing documents well now this new online application system ensures that you do have all your required documents so you can get your licenses back from the state in a much quicker manner I'm going to show you exactly how to apply for your license through the Georgia online licensing system in your dealer training class I want you to be very aware however you do have to have a location for your license the state of Georgia doesn't allow some cloud-based dealers license where you can basically show up in the Target parking lot and sell a vehicle and it disappear forever no State's going to allow that you're going to need a location for your license so your customers know where you're at after the sale the location that you're using has to meet local zoning and I'm going to really go in depth on that in your dealer training class you can contact your city hall or your county to make sure that the location meets local zoning it has to be zoned for a dealership and we will go in depth on that and I'll show you how to verify that location in your dealer training class and as I said earlier you don't have to do anything before you come into the class I always recommend you come into the class first and you have one year from the date of the class to go out and complete all those steps which I'm going to expedite that process for you on the day of the class if you're interested in becoming a broker I want to talk about that right now you can get your dealer's license with say for example a small office and no lot this is a great way to get your dealer's license and it allows you to get your dealer's license and get into the dealer auctions buy vehicles low at wholesale sell them high at retail without the extended price of having a lot as well so this is a great way to get into the industry many Brokers stay Brokers for many years but many Brokers decide to grow and expand and go out and find another location that has a lot and I'm going to show you in your class how you can start out a broker start out as a broker and then eventually become a lot a dealer that has a lot as well so I'll show you what's best for you if you want to stay a broker for many years you're going to be able to do that or if you want to grow and start out even with a lot you'll be able to do that if you are a broker I want you to be very aware there are many many companies throughout the state of Georgia that want to R you a small office so you can get your broker's license and this is one that I found as you can see this little small office has a couple of chairs and a desk and a filing cabinet and this is a safe conducive environment for doing motor vehicle transactions so you can literally get an office this small and some of these offices only run $2 to $300 a month and that's extremely cheap to help you get your license and get you into the dealer auctions and get you buying and selling Vehicles wholesale and Retail this is an exped expedit way to do this so if you're interested in that when you come into the class I'm going to show you how to search and locate the companies that want to lease or rent you a small office if you just want to become a broker with no office I will certainly show you how to do that no matter what you've got to identify your building as a dealership so you're going to have to post a sign either on the front of your building or out on your lot uh the sign has to have your dealership name in at least 6 in high or larger letters we'll talk about how to get a sign in your class normally you can go to any sign printing company or digital shop and get a sign produced at a very minimal cost but it is a requirement so I want you to be aware whatever location you're using you're going to have to have a sign mounted and your dealership name has to be at least 6 Ines higher larger if you want to have a lot hey that's totally great now if you do have a lot and you're not a broker if you're not a broker then you're going to have a lot okay and this is also a great way to start out if this is convenient for you couple of things I want you to be aware of on your lot the lot has to be the same address as your building so you can't have a lot that's down the street or something like that it has to be the same address and you can never share that lot with another dealer so that lot is only going to be for your inventory and in your dealer training class I'm going to do my very best to help you find a location for your dealer's license they're all over the place and I'll certainly talk about that in your class how to find those you're going to need to take some photographs of your business it's a very simple process here the state wants you to submit with your application a photograph of your office your building your sign and if you do have a lot you'll need to submit a photograph of that as well in the old days when we used to submit applications VIA mail to the board nine out of 10 dealers would forget their photographs this great streamlined Georgia online application licensing system that I'm going to show you in your class will not allow you to submit the application without all of your required documents including your photographs so you'll just need to get those photographs Lo loaded either onto your computer MacBook or your iPad and I'll show you in your class how you can easily submit those photographs this is a dealer licensing requirement so prepare to take some photographs of your new business you are going to have to obtain an insurance policy for your dealership the state law in Georgia is very clear every motor vehicle has to be insured including the vehicles that you're holding for resale so in class I'm going to show you how to obtain your insurance and I'm going to do my very best to show you how to get the cheapest insurance there's one of several categories that you're going to be able to obtain as far as insurance if you want to get the Bare Bones minimum you can get what's called dealer liability which is basically going to protect you and it will ensure you but if your customer wrecks one of your demos into another vehicle it's only going to fix the other vehicle so it is the cheapest it's the least amount that you're required to have but it also gives you the least amount of coverage I'm going to recommend in your class to bump it up you might think of this as full coverage but uh it's called dealers open line dealers open line does not cover like a specific amount of vehicles it covers a dollar amount so let's say you have acquired $50,000 worth of inventory you want $50,000 worth of open lot coverage you know we're in a state that has hail storms hurricanes tornadoes so there's more than one dealer in the state of Georgia that's lost their entire inventory and I want to make sure you never go into Financial ruins so we'll go into that in depth in your da training class there's some other optional Insurance packages that we'll talk about uh such as garagee Keepers if you repair Vehicles you would want that type of insurance airs and Emissions is an optional Insurance that'll protect you if you made a mistake on paperwork Employment Practices would protect you if you hire employees and maybe you were paying an employee an incorrect wage or something like that we're going to discuss workers compensation as well in your class and that protects your employees if they get injured on your job if you do have employees also we're going to talk about false pretense because false pretense will protect you if somebody in a rare scenario came in and bought a vehicle from you with a stolen ID or something like that I will definitely uh cover those with you in your class I'm also going to show you how to get the cheapest dealer shy bond that you can get okay we're required to obtain a $35,000 dealer shy Bond now is a $35,000 dealer shy Bond going to cost you $35,000 no with good credit I think it's going to cost you around2 to maybe $400 a year to get your dealer shy Bond if you have a couple of blemishes on your credit score that price can be higher but I'm going to go in depth in your class to show you exactly how to not only get the cheapest insurance but we have a bond quoting system that will shoot your bond quote off to 30 different carriers depending on your credit score so we'll take your credit score and match it up with the correct Bond carrier and hopefully that's going to get you your cheapest dealer Bond so I'm going to do my very best to help you in your class to get into this business at the lowest possible price uh that'll be the most effective for for you I'm also going to show you in your class how to obtain your required employer identification number now I'm going to make a very very confident prediction I predict when you get your dealer's license that your income is going to rise dramatically so to show the board that you are going to pay taxes on that new found income which I'm going to show you how to do in your class as well you're going to have to have an employer identification number I'm going to show you how to get this number in class at no charge whatsoever it's free to get that number there are companies it'll charge you5 or $600 to get your employer identification number if you want to go out and pay a company5 or $600 to do that you can certainly do that but in your class I'm going to show you how easy it is to just jump onto the IRS website like you see right here and we're going to get our employer identification number with about four or five clicks of the mouse and you're going to download a document that looks just like this that's going to have your employer identification number up there at the very top right so I'm going to try and expedite that process and make it as easy as possible for you to get your employee ready identification number I want you to be very aware that you're also going to have to get what's called a state sales tax number in your dealer training class I'm going to show you how to sell a vehicle and when you sell a vehicle you're going to boot up the easiest software program on the planet it's called electronic title registration it's the easiest software on the planet and what that ETR software is going to do is going to allow you to just type in the vehicle identification number the vehicle that you just sold and it's automatically going to compute the sales tax that you charge for you automatically but in order to legally charge that sales tax when you are selling a vehicle we need to have a sales tax license which is going to have your sales tax number in your class I'm going to show you how to do this we're just going to jump right onto the Georgia Tax Center website in your dealer training class and I'm going to show you how to easily obtain your sales tax license which you're going to see a copy of right here so once you get your sales tax license takes not even 5 minutes online I predict it's going to take you two or 3 minutes to get your sales tax license and in the middle of that document you'll see your new sales tax number and that is a requirement in order to get your dealer's license one of the final steps I'll show you in class is how to register your business with the secretary of state and some of this may seem overwhelming but it's really not we're going to cover this whole process in class and then I'm going to give you a checklist that shows you everything to do in the correct chronological order when you leave the class so you'll be able to really streamline the process and speed up the application process and get your license back as soon as possible so in your class we're going to jump right onto the Secretary of State's website and we're going to register your new business I'm going to show you how easy this is to do and you're going to get a document that pops up on your screen that looks just like this this is your secretary of state filing document and there's a couple of numbers on this document that we're going to record and enter into the Georgia online application licensing system I'll show you how easy this is on the day of your class in order to maintain absolute compliance with state law the board wants you to go ahead and run out and get a local business license as well this could not be easier you're going to jump on your city's website let's say for example you're in the city of Atlanta you can just Google Atlanta business license and you're going to write land right there on the city of Atlanta's license registration page where you can do it online in probably less than five minutes uh let's say you're in Augusta you can type in Augusta business license and click on the Augusta link there you'll land on the city of Augustus page or any other City you can search for your city if you're in a rural area and you're not in a city then you can just search for your county business license and you'll easily be able to get your County Business License these are going to cost probably $25 to $50 you'll be able to do that online and I predict that's another process it's probably going to take less than five minutes but the board does want to ensure that you do have a local business license so I'll cover that process extensively for you as well one final step before you apply for your license is to get your fingerprints very soon you're going to be handling very very large fin Financial transactions and a lot of times it's just going to be you and one customer doing a deal and usually when you're selling a vehicle those vehicles are worth several thousands of dollars so before the state gives you that responsibility of having oversight over these large Financial transactions with your own dealers license they just want to make sure you're of a high level of ethical standards so we're going to need to go ahead and get fingerprints taken it's going to be a quick process I'm going to show you in your class how to schedule your fingerprints and then you're going to go into an office and put your fingers on a little glass panel and that shows a state that you didn't just get out of prison for robbing a bank or something like that so it's very easy process I'm going to show you that in your class and there are fingerprint locations all over the state of Georgia so you're going to be able to easily get that process done once you've completed those steps I'm going to show you how to easily apply for your license on this website right here it's called the Georgia online license the Georgia online application licensing system which is called goal so I'm going to show you how to apply there and then I'm also going to show you with this little link right here once you've been approved which shouldn't take very long you're going to go ahead and print up your Georgia dealer license right there so congratulations you've just gotten your Georgia dealer license once you've attended the class I'm going to show you exactly how to do this so we're going to cover every every single portion of the startup process and in the class we'll start we'll show you all the startup processes but I'm also going to give you some really great checklists that are going to show you exactly what you're going to do in the most expedited manner so you can get your licenses back as soon as possible I'm going to make it extremely easy if you've never owned a business in your entire life we're going to start from scratch I'll show you how to fill out every single bit of documentation how to submit it correctly and then once you get your license in your class I'm going to show you how to maintain compliance so you can keep your dealer's license and those profits for many many years when you come in and take your dealer training class it's a very safe comfortable environment and we're going to hold that meeting in a hotel meeting room so it's Ada accessible you just have to make sure sure that you arrive at that hotel no later than 8:00 a.m. it's very important that you arrive on time because the state does not allow you to skip any portion of the class you have to set through the entire training class and there's no test and like I said earlier if you can put up with me dallis Johnson for about four hours you're going to graduate and at the end of the class you just have to show me your ID and I'll issue you your official certificate of completion and that's going to show the board that you've attended your mandatory training I'm going to do my very to steer you in the right direction if you've never owned a business or if you've completed no steps whatsoever I strongly encourage you to come in and take the class as your very first step and I'm going to expedite the entire process and help you get licensed as soon as possible
