concept paper presentation for the Master's uh degree program so I know you understand so instead of U meeting via Zoom I'm going to meet you uh not this Friday because it's a holiday I I'm going to meet you for sure uh God willing this coming uh next week right so I believe that we through this recorded presentation you are going to be able to catch up and as well as um provide the necessary input expected from you so Ryan was asking if we could meet at 6 6:30 to around 6:40 to give you enough time to join me uh during uh Tuesday classes and uh of course uh I said yes so probably we could meet around 6:45 to 7 uh so that you will have enough time to eat uh when you arrive in your respective homes okay so today is August 20 2024 welcome to technology for teaching and learning to I'm semester I know your capability already you are such excellent students so last time if you remember class this was the activity that was given to you and I was able to receive already your input in fact most of you had been graded already uh because this was the thing that uh served as a content of your quiz uh using specific software so the title here is the role of technology and modern science education so I I'm sure you were able to read this based from the very nice input or the very nice output that we have here so as you can see uh the output uh that are so nice are coming from Ryan from Isa nimia also prelle Henry uh Jonah shyra kylen Camille and ly so they are the first ones who were able to turn in and I was able to grade them but of course the rest there are 25 more who were able to turn in although I um I was not able to grade you yet but uh I'm sure these are spectacular wow presentation so we have inputs coming from Alie Angelo ail also from Janelle Donell uh I know I know that you will right so for today let me talk about the highlights to begin with it says here technology will never replace great features but in the hands of great teachers it's transformational do you agree to this quote from George koros I know you will agree agree probably most of you maybe some of you will not so you must have your reasons but let me continue by saying this question how do you intend to stay on track as a future great teacher I know that you do have several plans in mind to continue being an excellent teacher then uh additionally uh we also have here uh another quotation which says that computers are not magic because teachers are therefore there is a therefore here uh it is essential to develop competences for both the pre-service teachers and inservice teachers pre-service would refer to uh you preparing for to work in the service as uh teachers and in service teachers would refer to your teachers uh lightning the rest of the teachers that you have in usdp and of course your other uh teachers in elementary high school and so on so identifying trends ICT education will really help class how to define the needed skills and appropriate approaches so that you as a future teacher could be able to develop your ICT competencies I know you could relate to this as um you are already trained so looking at this model ICT and education it has the following uh tools like it could be used for management for instruction and for learning that is why we have this uh learning environment for ICT it could also be a subject one of your subjects could be ICT that's a model from rales and then another model shown here class which is from lonin which I would want you continue to continue doing a Ser uh which will serve as your output because this one ends with 2005 from 1975 the year when I was born actually so 2005 so maybe you could continue what happens in 2010 2015 2020 until 2024 so you could add more circles here as this are each of the circles here represents now the following years so please uh do so uh as your group input no by pair input so other areas would be the three e-learning methodological models of raner with this uh insights on contentless support model with this focus and then we have the wraparound model with this insights here and the integrated model as can be seen it appears that from content plus support model there is an improvement or an enh enhancement when it goes onto the wraparound model and then the integrated model is more uh enhanced now uh compared with this two so it's up to you to probably you can use this terminologies or concepts class when you complete the model konyin okay and then we proceed with the next model here which is from J white uh d thto uh C CBT which is the computer Based training of course the WBT or the web based training then we we have the Cs or the computer supported Collaborative Learning which has something to do with the Web 2.0 maybe you could also uh discover what is web 4.0 because we already have that already this time Nel I know that you are familiar with this because this was one of the topics that you were able to make an output uh excellent output last semester the technology uh that technology topic and then we have this three models class uh you could see that they are more or less similar the only difference is the arrow this one is a are broken lines now for these arrows here from teachers to students then this uh one is the the item one here model number one is uh similar with the rest exact for this uh broken line so what does that mean you will discover as it's presented on the next pages so here uh comparison of the three would look into the pedagogical approaches the needed ICT skills and examples so for Trend one it's more traditional in nature with this examples for Trend to it's more of the problem based learning already that are you familiar with the PDL I know you are because uh this was also one of our topics before and Trend number three which is uh already the uh more advanced uh compared with this too because it uses instructional design approach to reach every learn instructional design in uh in terms of uh analysis design development implementation and EV evaluation that's why we have here e-learning and M M learning and then uh with the ICT skills now we have Rel technological skills the skills of infusing ICT into teaching and learning and then we also have the pedagogical skills do you think that this model of teachers ICT competi class will be relevant in the formation of the model to complete L Nonet what do you think so maybe you could also take some of the concepts that are uh placed in this particular model let's take a look at um Trend one in terms of technological skills so the operating system is still windows and pedagogical skills it's like um uh just selecting suitable resources and uh the rest uh but more uh it goes up uh it's more developed when we take a look at the second Trend which is already the skills of overcoming technological issues which can be raised during students learning process so here we have the pbl lesson as an example for the pedagogical skills but looking at Trend number three it's more advanced because of the SC uh scorm of forear do you know what is a scorm uh there's a discussion in the next page for this LMS is uh the Moodle not that this is the one that's used in uh the development of us step so that's model actually model based then we have the pedagogical skill here which is optimizing or making really use of Designing and organizing suitable uh sorry for the m spelling here uh assessment activities those that are appropriate and uh effective for the student so when we talk about scorm it means sharable content object reference model so it is an online learning material actually that is very compliant with scorm uh and that it has the following features uh due to its interoperability it's it can work across various LMS platforms it can be reused it can do tracking and Reporting and it also has the capacity of sequencing because it supports the ordering of content so that it's presented in a specific sequence to learner so this is all about spor uh it's been used by programmers so when do you then use incorpor or incorporate ICT Tools in teaching class when do you do that I'm sure you will say that of course in every part of the lesson you will be incorporating ICT such as these examples here but if these are not available probably you can do something as a future teacher right uh if you're going to be assigned in a parkl area maybe you could consider this instances like you focus on the research tasks on the potential of interaction on ensuring that this there is an appropriate and uh learning activities and when you also structure your activities then aside from that this summarizes actually class the role of ICT in Science Education uh uh with how science works now looking into these different concepts you might be able to use this uh Concepts when you complete the model that I ask you to do so ICT for data logging so data collection automation storage and Analysis you can uh use I in those concerns for simulations as well like in this uh examples atom scope are you aware of this have you used this maybe you already have used this in one of your major classes and there are some sites for simulation like pet I know you are familiar with pet brother and also the eock uh furry elephant the Acoustics the explor learning and also the learn genetics then um other ways uh of using ics for creating now so animations bioethics also uh slowmation aside from that you could also use Smartboard resources or interactive whiteboard and also whole class teaching as well as well then uh Additionally you could use online discussion between lessons just like um what uh we do uh in usdp when we have um online classes and then you could use beep uh beep talks you could try podcasts now I was able to receive several podcasts from you all very nice podcasts and voice thread activities as well so aside from that you can make use of wikies and of of course Google Docs then um that's why class we have here the activity no it's a tech pairs exploring I and education I will ask you to form a pair and then together with your partner since you are 40 so perfect pairs that that means are 20 pairs together with your partner you are going to present now a 5 minute maximum so equal number of minutes so if josha paars up with Ryan jha gets 2.5 minutes discussion 2.5 5 minutes for Riot okay so it's like that uh because that's one of the criteria being set here 20 30 30 and okay so credits to Dr Moen for this uh source of
